  1. Quick question Zek.

Can we change the animation AND colour the 'boom' you get on SS or just change the animation (since it appears you can recolour rage)?

Power customization is per power, per costume slot.

[/ QUOTE ]So you could have one martial arts costume with all kicks and one with all punches? That'd be cool.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Going by the video, it looks like Tail of the Dragon would still be a kick so 90% punches and 10% kick would be more like it
  3. Like I said in the topic.

Punch can now look like a Punch, not a hammer blow.

Smashing Haymaker now looks like a Haymaker, not a double fist overhead strike.

Loving the ground strike for footstomp, mirrors the AoE that Statesman, Imperious and Reichsman use (Hammer of Justice used by Statesman and Imperious and Fist of Tyranny used by Reichsman).

Overall the new animations are FTW... to the point I doubt we'll be even seeing the old animations that much again, except for Footstomp because it's still a good animation.

Really looking forward to being able to change the Punch, smashing haymaker and KO Blow animations now, they can actually look like what they're called YAY!
  5. I, personally, really like that idea.

It fits with the whole "World of Cardboard" approach that most of the 'tankers' (and I use that term loosely) in the Comic books have.

Against normal thugs they're not going to unleash their full might, I mean you don't see Superman punching that bank robber as hard as he could, he'd liquify the poor guy if he did.

However against certain he will just let loose, "show you how powerful he really is" and unleash his full might against someone he knows that can take it, in CoH case, this would be AVs.

Brutes are about smashing their way through people, battering them aside and racing from one group to the next, Tankers would be about taking out those tough targets, perhaps, with AVs/Signature Heroes, have them even surpass Brute/Scrapper damage at the very high end of it but only if the fight lasts a while, (say longer than 3-4 minutes)

Eh it's just a random thought from a random person, don't look at me for balancing issues

indeed, when one goes and dies, goes rogue or retires another Jlove is called in.

Jloves are like hamster, furious workers for their short lifespan, producing myriads of things before dying off, their little hearts just can't take the constant strain.

Though the JLoves are no relation to the server hamsters, who seem to die a lot more frequently than even the line of JLoves.

That's right, the JLoves are short lived, costume designing, intelligent hamsters...it's the truth and don't let anyone else tell you other wise...

Edit: To remain on topic, really glad that we'll have a third starting option for heroes/villains, somewhere between the 'go all over the place' of Heroside and the 'yes it's Mercy, again, for the 5th time in a row on your new alt, no nothing has changed, yes it's the same 4 starting storylines' of villainside.

Incorrect...unless something happened between Friday and now, which I seriously doubt.

That's one way to get a dev to post

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Good idea!

Did you hear the latest one? Turns out, JLove is actually DEAD! And has been for like a year now!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually there is no single JLove, it's like The Phantom (the ghost who walks), each time a JLove dies, another replaces them and takes on the mantle, merely giving the Illusion that there is a single, ever lasting JLove.

There have been many over the years, some have died in battle, some merely grow too old to continue their work, costume designers age very quickly, each year to us is fifty to them, an unfortunate curse of their bloodline but allows for quick replacements.

Sometimes a Jlove will go rogue and BaB has to step in to cut them down, mourning the loss of a designer before his relative takes the mantle.

There will always be a Jlove, love them, hate them or otherwise be indifferent to them, the legacy continues forever...
  8. oooh aren't you guys happy you're going to get Golden Girl back...

    ...HA!

...We've suffered with her over at the EU forums for years now...it's time you took her back...
  9. looking awesome so far...

...really disappointed that we can't colour the various power pools come Issue 16 mind you, was looking forward to colouring Hasten to look less...well...like Hasten...

...still guess we'll just have to wait.

BaB while you're looking in on this topic.

Curiously just wondering how much extra work it would take to be able to select the projectile type as well as the colour of a power?

Would love to be able to select Proton Volley style (the three round balls of energy) projectiles for an energy blaster, colour them pink and go all Danmaku on the enemies.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Given that alternate animations for Martial Arts and Superstrength are included in Issue 16 something of the sort is possible. But before that, he'd have to tweak the animation so that it had the same animation time as the animation it's replacing. So it would be more complicated and have to be done on a more one-power-at-a-time basis.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This wouldn't be changing the animation, that would still remain the same, I'm talking about merely replacing the type of projectile used, sniper blast would still use sniper blast's animation BUT instead of it firing a beam of concentrated energy, it would fire the same projectiles as Proton volley.

  12. Reason I love the Rikti invasions is that in pairs or in massive groups, it feels like you are super powered, you taking out these hordes of Rikti teleporting in, wave after wave just swarming in on you.

Still remember my first Rikti Invasion with the release of Issue 10, was late at night on the EU Union server, just me and a friend were standing around fighting the Rikti.

The Rikti stop teleporting in for what seemed like a couple of minutes...

Me: "well I think that's fin*Rikti begin teleporting in again*ished"
Friend: ech...movies haven't taught you anything?

    The waves stop again.

Me: Ok that's definitely got to be it...
    *More Rikti Teleport in*
Friend: I told you...stop tempting fate!

    Waves stop a third time.
Friend: Don't say it...don't say anything, I want to go to bed, we've been fighting these <expletive> for what seems like an hour...just keep quiet..
I follow his advice and keep quiet.
    *Rikti begin teleporting in again*
Me: Oh come on...I didn't say anything that time, how is this fair!

    Once they finally stopped again, just before everything returned to normal there was a long silence between both me and my friend in team chat followed by;
Friend: I think they just hated us that damn much...
  13. Dr_Mechano

    well that's new

well considering this was all I had to go on prior to actually seeing them destroyed with me own eyes, it's new to me.

Not seen them being taken down except in that video, my bad if the devs changed it.
  14. Dr_Mechano

    well that's new

Images now for you amazement, fresh from the Virtue Dropship massacre marathon (28 before I left the team)

Dropship losing engines and a wing

    Dropship begins to break apart

Front of the Dropship full breaks apart...

    Dropship goes BOOM!
  15. Dr_Mechano

    well that's new

The Rikti Dropships (which just broke apart, dropped to the ground and then sunk into the ground when destroyed as can be seen in the old videos) now break apart, drift for a little bit, then explode in a massive blue/white spherical energy explosion...pictures coming soon!
  16. turning Punch into well...a Punch...

Turning Smashing Haymaker into well..a Smashing haymaker.

Making Jab look different to Boxing.

Seriously whoever named those powers originally should have been smacked with a book about the basics of brawling.
  17. Ah but you forget he's not called 'Tyrant' in his universe, he is simply called Emperor Cole, it is Prime Earth's heroes and villains that call him Tyrant (yes it's a retcon from the comics where he IS called Tyrant by his followers but just go with it).

Plus Tyrant respects power, in that universe might makes right, the fact that Maelstrom was able to resist Mother Mayhem's mental intrusion, where currently only Emperor Cole had been able to resist that intrusion, means he can have an ally incase Mother Mayhem goes a bit more wonkey in the head department and decides she should just control the rest of the Praetorian Freedom Phalanx and get them to beat down Tyrant so she can become the Queen of the Crazies!

The fact that Maelstrom was willing to plug a bullet into the brain of his only friend to stop Mother Mayhem giving him a fate worse than death shows he's got a strong will and that he's more than willing to put a bullet between Mother Mayhem's eyes if Tyrant so commands it.

Alright yes, even with those explanations it still seems a bit of an idiot ball move but it's not quite as bad as you make out.
  18. My bad Prof, I take back my comments about you being miserable.

Also Scooby_Dont gets a Scooby snack for saying the correct answer.
  19. Have you tried

    1) Joining global channels on your server that are specifically for teaming?

    2) Asking SG mates to team with you?

    3) Form you own teams?

The instant I got out of the tutorial the other week on a character I got invited to a small team running the 1-5 Kalinda missions who then went on to do Mongooses missions.

Later that night, I found people running normal missions which got me to level 12.

Teams are out there, yes they're not as obvious as those spamming LF AE farm but you can find them.

Me I choose to farm past level 15 (up until then the levels pass fairly quickly on any character) because I've seen all the content both villain and heroside and now I just want to know how a character plays once they hit their stride at 32 and not have to wait weeks for that to happen only to delete them and go 'eh...that combination wasn't quite what I hoped for' (I normally levelled quite slowly pre-AE, taking me 4 months to hit 50 as I tended to hang around and chat in globals or fiddle with costumes rather than play the game).

Yes but while the heroes are successful enough to have influence with saids stores, they don't ship out to the goverment because they only cater to those with super powers...the jerks!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't they have supers on the government, too? Like, I'm pretty sure the president would be able to rip his suit jacket off and suplex enemies of the United States where they stand

    [/ QUOTE ]

Samuel, if you make MA arcs, please for the love of all that's holy make that one, I would make it myself but I fear my writing skills would not do the idea of a jacket torn President going all hulk hogan on the enemies of the state.

As for the actual topic, yes it obviously loans from lots of other sources, he's basically the Six Million Dollar man, Iron Man and a few others rolled into one
  21. [ QUOTE ]
This forum is becoming 4chan with moderation and capes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    oh quit your moaning.

To be honest these forms are a far, FAR better place than the WoW, WAR, AoC or Steam forums that I've been to, those places are cesspools of intolerance, idiocy and general all round nastiness, the City of Heroes boards are a shinning beacon of happiness and intelligence compared to those.

Infact these and the EU CoH boards tend to be pretty much better than most of the forums out there for a fairly welcoming attitude.

Yet you moan when people have a little fun, yeesh, lighten up, atleast this is a fun, jokey topic rather than the dozens of other "AE if ruining my game" snoozefest with arguements that have been thrown about time and time again to the point that the horse is sooo dead it's now an unliving horse which stalks the living for sustenance and drains their souls with the balefire from it's eyes as it serves the very dark lord of forums everywhere herself.

So cheer up you miserable bugger and live a little once in a while, yes too many random topics are bad but the occasional odd one isn't that bad.

Most of my comments have been fun little jibs because I'm not about to get involved in the 'srs bizness' of the AE farms debates because I just don't see the point in rehashing old arguements.

So let your hair down and let yourself be unserious for just one moment.
  22. Yes but while the heroes are successful enough to have influence with saids stores, they don't ship out to the goverment because they only cater to those with super powers...the jerks!

Besides the 6 dollar man (with parts with picked up on the cheap from Cookes electronics) wont have as much impact with the guys in military research now will it?
  23. Well they had the technology, so they had to rebuild him...

Would be a waste of tax payers money if they didn't...not to mention when is the chance your going to get to spend Six Million Dollars of taxpayers money on cybernetically enhancing someone...I mean...it only happens once every twenty or so years...
  24. *Leaps out from behind the curtains to attack Prof_Backfire with karate chops*

((wonders if anyone gets the film reference, please respond with the exclamation made by the character in question when he was attacked by his 'friend' in such a manner)).
  25. Of course they CAN do the martial arts moves, however they don't do the one move that would completely ruin it, Dragon's Tail, that one move I suspect is the major downfall, all the other MA moves would probably work alright with robes (can't say for certain)

The animation for Dragon's tail would looke horrendous if you had someone in a robe/dress do it. If you look the edges of the robe follow the lines of the leg, much like skirts do ingame and with skirts you get the same problem (seriously try using rest on a female character in a skirt, the top half the skirt doesn't move but the part attached to the leg DOES, meaning the skirt splits in two, if your female character has legs that aren't skinny then you can see visable splits in the skirt where the two halves seperate, which is why I rarely, if ever, use skirts on a female character).

Dragon's Tail also suffers from the same problem as Rest (it's a crouched position, one leg extended, meaning the robe would distend and stretch over that leg and you'd get the splitting issue with the leg that's in the crouched position), meaning it really doesn't look that good and that's on skirts, not full length robes.

As you said, they probably could do it if they wanted to put some time and effort into it but is that effort really worth it...well upto you really.
