Which is the better patron pool for AoE damage.

Currently I have my SS/Fire brute going the interesting route of having Mako as a patron for Spirit Shark (does good damage in PvP), Bile Spray and Arctic spray.

Normal opening AoE attack chain goes Arctic spray, Bile Spray then when everyone is clustered around, footstomp.

This is enough to wipe out a group of even con minions and with Fiery embrace up +1 lts.

Would another patron be better to go with?

One of set of bombs had been disarmed, Longbow both virtue and Union side had reached the one underneath the statue of Cyrus Thompson. It had been as simple as hitting the off switch, just like Mechano said, though displayed when the offswitch was hit was a little video of Mechano saying "good ape, it gets a banana" and a banana being desposited onto the floor from a tray within the device.

There was still one set left, underneath the PPD Precient in Kings Row.

Edward tapped his fingers, "hmm one set activated, one set disarmed this seems more like it...just goes to show you need to prove you're being serious in this day and age to get things done...hmm now to activate the last remaining set or not...choices, choices..."

Glares at Kip.

"There are only two creatures that should be studied and not killed, Lusca because I've never seen her go out of a way to attack a hero or even the local shipping...and Sally..."

Shrugged her shoulders, "I'm not the brains of this outfit, best ask one of the clever people about what you want to talk about...I was just asking, erm...talk to the catgirl that glows, Ellie is her name, she's a take charge kinda gal."

((M221's scan would reveal that Amy Zon was a registered super hero, known abilities, invulnerability and super strength. Her name in a search engine would bring up a wikipedia page detailing that she has a line of comic books, The Adventures of the Amazing Amy Zon. She has also starred in the Japanese Sentai series, Mew Mew Power...it's about Japanese school girls transforming into catgirl super heroes to fight crime, her name in the series translates as Unyeilding Justice Strength cat))

Amy shrugged her shoulders, "well now that's sorted, anyone here able to talk to the Whale, you know, on it's own terms, unfortunately I have trouble speaking housecat, let alone communicating with something from the Ocean..."

Actually had a conversation that went like this on an AE.

(after a wipe)
Me: Hmm could probably use more debuffs or buffs.
Dark Corruptor: I am debuffing.
Me: I know you're debuffing just probably need a someone else ontop of that to help us along.
Ignorant AEr: Dark sucks, we need a healer.
Me: Dark doesn't suck, it's got tar patch which makes the groups easier to kill, it's got Darkest Night to help with the -tohit, it's got Howling twilight for the mass rez and -regeneration.
Ignorant AEr: all you need is a healer.
Me: gah..Sonic buffs my resistance, which being a fire secondary brute is a godsend, forcefields buff defense, of which I have none to start out with due to being a fire secondary brute, Dark and Rad can turn the mobs into mewling kittens, Pain Domination is more than just heals it's got very good buffs in it as well, hell any of the corruptor secondaries are good...

In broadcast the team leader is continuing to ask for a healer...

Me: *swears and quits team*

I did neglect to mention that Dark also has the best heal in the game...probably should have done that too before quitting...

Yeah..erm...devs...know your busy with Issue 16 but someone needs to have a look at the filter (admittedly I turn my own to avoid the stupidity that it brings).

The bombs detonated but not in a large explosion, instead a rather unstable looking portal was formed, bridging the two universes, the edges of it ripped and cracked, thankfully the universe hadn't gone boom but now there was an unstable portal between dimensions located underneath PPD HQ...the truth be told Edward had only planted them at specific locations to get the heroes attentions, if they had been out in the middle of nowhere, someone would have just wandered by eventually...

Through each portal could be seen the exact same location but obviously within different universes.

((now you have several options here, cross over between the two dimensions, somehow stablize the portal allowing unfettered access between the two or wait until it eventually collapses which is about five hours)).

Amy looked around and ponder for a moment..

"If someone can support it in a forcefield, I'm sure myself and someone else with Super Strength could carry the poor thing back out to sea while it's kept contained, might be able to carry it on my own but I think the weight would cause me to be pushed into the sand, holding him up isn't a problem but the ground being soft is..."

Amy paused in her stride and listened to what Claire had to say, "ooh right I got you...just thought it was some poor beached Whale..."

Amy nodded her head, "ok, guard duty it is, " she remained in her position, turning to keep an eye on the scene, sighing a little, "well so much for trying to keep myself untanned..."

She had wondered who had struck first in the conflict, surely the heroes would have tried to reason with it...well...she would have lept into action but then she isn't a clever person, she just hits things real hard...

The Amazing Amy Zon (well atleast that was how she was known in her comic book series) had heard the call go out on the police band radio, something about a whale. Arriving on the scene she had seen the poor creature laying on the beach and just naturally assumed that it was a call for heroes to help the dry docked animal back out to sea.

The 8 foot tall muscular catgirl looked around at the scene and sighed, "well this certainly makes a change for the books, well time to do some good...and get some free publicity..."

Amy begun striding towards the whale, "don't worry hun, we'll soon get you back out to sea, now the rest of you guys mind clearing a path so I can haul it back out..."

A couple of hours later...

Edward was annoyed...normally there would be a scurry of activity, it seemed the summer holidays had proven far too distracting for the heroes...atleast one of the bombs should have been attempted to be disarmed by now, looking at the viewing screen the status remained armed and untampered with.

"This is what I get for not getting people out of bed, people seem to prefer to rush around when they can get back to sleep afterwards...time to make a national address methinks..."

Edward begun hacking into the TV signal...

...Edward appeared on Paragon Cities TVs.

"I am DEEPLY disappointed in you people...not one of you has made the attempt to find or even disarm one of my bombs..in EITHER universe...so...as a lesson...I'm going to have to detonate one of them...it's your own fault people, I thought you heroes were proactive..."

Edward grinned, "hmm...how about the one underneath your precious Police headquarters...if the universe explodes it's your own fault people..."

Edward pressed a button, the bombs in both universes begun to whine and whirr as they built up energy.

"Now...hopefully we'll get some new friends across ahey..."

The TV screens flickered and returned to regular programming.

It's Samuriko/Dark_Respite, I am hearby starting the campaign to get one of City of Heroes best video makers into Issue 16 closed beta (if she isn't already).

Because she's done a better job doing trailers than the Paragon Studios team have done in the past and it would be awesome to be able to drag her out of retirement to have a sparkly new trailer from her.

Hmm Barb Arian (or specifically an alt version of her Servant of Rularuu) is a 8ft tall woman (who has a cat tail but then nobody actually ever seems to notice it...weird I know) the only time she's ever been hit on is among my regular team and even that was jokingly ("ooh you're so hawt, it's like you're on fire!" when she's an SS/Fire brute).

Infact I get more questions about who on earth is Rularuu in tells than I do getting hit on.

I'm always disappointed nobody hits on Dr Mechano though...hey just because he's a male elderly mad scientist (cutified in my avatar) doesn't mean he don't need lovin'!

I do farm on occassions.

However I'm probably a rare example that the trash recipes don't get deleted and all the salvage (including rares) and mob drop recipes (except those which are obviously expensive such as purples) I get I list for 1 inf, it's probably the gambler in me coming out (I do play fruit machines or slot machines as you call them in the states) sometimes I get way more than the vendor price, other times I get way less, you win some, you lose some. With Salvage these days it's mostly a win mind you.

However most of the time I can't even sell some recipes for 1 inf, there's just nobody bidding on them or the supply is far too high compared to the demand (this is especially true of the cheaper sets and at level 50 where AE tickets have caused a flood of them).

So I am supplying the market it just seems nobody in particular wants to buy most of the recipes I am trying to supply.

Hmm the only reason I can think of for the change from the many previous closed beta tests (keep in mind it wasn't until the last 4-5 issues they even bothered with closed betas) is that the character creator will probably be as buggy as hell and they don't want people logging in to a character creator that is causing problems and generally not working correctly...

...what it's an explanation dang it!

Wow...who knew this many people doing the time warp would actually cause one?!

oh you know that will Bass...I'm not upset just kind of...well..disappointed... really wanted to see what you could do with all the customisation options but eh, ya win some, ya lose some.

Ah well, at this stage I seriously doubt any amount of moaning would help...but seriously, if people at the Comic-con could waltz upto machines, film the animations (and make us so happy that Punch and Haymaker are getting different animations *hugs Zek*) I really don't see the point in only having closed beta tests be able to fiddle about with the power customisation...

Right, I'm curious, how is the following any different from using the AE for gaining tickets to spend on recipes and salvage?

I've recently begun farming the Cimmerorea(sp) walls, an old one but a good one, there is no risk now I've figured out the right attack chain to wipe everything but the Centurions out very quickly (namely Rage combined with Arctic Spray then Bile spray and finish them off with footstomp if Blazing Aura doesn't kill them first, throw in Fiery Embrace at the start and just Arcitc Spray and Bile Spray kill virtually everything).

Thanks to the AE this is a very lucrative farming place, infact at one point three people (me included) were clearing the place so fast that we were kicking our heels waiting for respawns (it seems the walls can support two people clearing them but not three or more).

The Romans on the walls respawn quickly, yes they can and do hit fairly hard, especially if allowed to mass they can cut down people in short order but considering their not even getting to that stage...

...or the other classic, taking a fire based character (done this myself with a fire/fire blaster from 25 to 27 when level 25-46 magical salvage was in stupidly high demand) into Dark Astoria and just street sweeping. I'm taking advantage of the fact the Banished Pantheon have a weakness to fire, Build up, Aim and then four or five moves later, an entire hazard zone spawn has been defeated, is that bad?

People say 'omgzors Farming is bad' (like Alt_oholic) aren't seeing past the AE when thinking of farming. Currently I think my 50 ss/fire takes more of risk during the AE boss farms (which aren't quite as lucrative as other places to farm due to the 1500 ticket cap) than she ever is on that Roman fort walls, large groups of bosses will decimate her health very quickly since they will hit hard.

You're not against Farming, you're against Power levelling, do not confuse the two, MA farming is primarily used for Power levelling and ticket earning second.

Well I'm feeling particularly happy with myself since I've just managed to get a Ragnarok Dam/End purple recipe from farming the walls and will have (when it sells, 110 million inf incase people are interested) more inf than I actually know what to do with (since I will buy IO sets...but I really can't be bothered going all out for four purple sets) probably use it to fund a new project...

((oooh interesting idea...I'm going to go with yes, there is a set of bombs in the Virtueverse in exactly the same places, however Dr Mechano can only broadcast in the Unionverse, so feel free to have one of your heroes stumble into them in the virtueverse and Dr Mechano may be serious about what the bombs will do...or he may not...))

((All of the bombs are located in Kings Row, one is directly underneath the PPD HQ, one under the Police Precient where you meet your first detective, one underneath the statue of statue of Cyrus Thompson, so they're all fairly close together)).
