Come on...bring the servers online...I have things to do, today is my only day off this week...curse you server down time for applying patches! Curse youuuuuu!.
-
1) Cute avatar...I just wants ta huggle tha kitten!
2) You're not, I do a little bit of everything, I RP, I farm and PL my second account characters, I PvP, I badge hunt...I do none of those things exclusively but I do a little bit of each when the fancy takes me. -
Another good point is that there are probably a decent number of French Canadians playing on the NA servers who could move to the French language server, bringing in more people.
FFM makes pretty much all the good points about it though.
Also what does NASMD mean? -
A common request to merge Union and Defiant.
Personally, since I don't tend to play on the EU servers anymore despite being a Brit, I can't say how the server population is but I've been told that peak time Union and Defiant offer the same amount of people as peak time Champion and Liberty, it's only Virtue and Freedom that are the big heavy hitters of the American servers.
I agree with merging server lists though, especially now the whole point of having a seperate EU server cluster (different to US servers maintenance times, EU located support) is completely redundant and pretty much everything is done for the convience of the bigger playerbase in the US, so I say just get it over with and merge the server lists.
You WILL get story arc missions but the starting out content in heroes is...to say the least...poor...
It consists of a lot of stand alone missions and fedexs. Once you hit level 5, head to the Hollows and that provides decent story arcs.
Once you get to 15+ Story arcs get more prevelant, the best one of that level range is two story arcs focusing on Vazhilok and ends with you fighting the head honcho himself Dr Vazhilok, it offers closure to that group and story as you move on to bigger threats.
For real story focused content, head to Faultline at level 15, it's based on the CoV model and is a self contained zone with a massive overarcing storyline.
From there, at level 20, head to Striga Isle for another zone with a main story focus behind all the missions offered.
So for decent story content and not the damn awful generic mission content of most of low level CoH it goes.
Level 5: Kings row for 3 news paper missions and a safeguard to get your jetpack temp travel power and then head to the Hollows which should see you upto level 15.
Level 15: Head to Faultline, do all the story arcs there.
Level 20-25: Head to Striga and do all the content there. -
I will personally pay whichever developer makes atleast number 2 happen the sum of ten whole english pounds...
...what it's all I can spare right now...and no, I'm not sending you a gift basket, you know how much that would cost to airmail to American?! -
My bad, brain need more coffee and me need to be better at searching...
Feel free to set me on fire and call me a kitten...or turn me into a kitten...or turn me into a kitten and set me on fire...but that would be cruel....kitten killer! -
Logged in to the US servers, only to be told that there was going to be server downtime...
Now I wouldn't normally mind, it's one of those things that happens but there's no announcement of this anywhere.
Could we please have a little more forewarning next time?
Yours sincearly.
Dr Mechano.
P.S. If there has been an announcement about todays downtime, feel free to discuss who would win in a fight between the European Wasp and the European Hornet...my money is on the Hornet personally. -
Thought I'd refresh my suggestion now that the time is close at hand for the Halloween event to be upon us.
Well several suggestions actually.
1)
Couple of new costumes, namely the Rularuu Overseer, Rularuu Brute and Rularuu Whisp as costumes.
2)
Now the Halloween salvage has one function, to gain an extra costume slot, I propose an additional function, after you've traded in for the extra costume slot.
Once you've traded in your second set of salvage a reward screen pops up, similar to those with the Vet reward sands of mu or Ghostslaying axe perma-temp choices.
On that reward screen is a list of all the temp costume powers you've had through trick or treating, you get to select one of those costumes as a perma-temp costume for that character.
This is balanced between the Con temps because while the con temps are awarded on a per account basis, meaning all characters will have access to that one costume, the halloween trade-in perma-temps will only be for that character and that character alone, if you wanted the same costume on a different character, you'd have to trade in two sets of halloween salvage again.
I would kill for a perma-temp Rularuu Overseer costume for one of my characters.
So devs, any idea if this can be possibly be made to work, come on, it would be awesome... -
Alright I'm standing there, afking away in Pocket D while I read the forums, occasionally checking back to stop myself getting booted.
While I was away looking at various forum topics, I've apparently get a tell asking me if I PL for money...
Now while I'm standing there on my SS/Fire brute (a choice that can PL well obviously and I do so privately for myself and a few select friends to get their alts to 20) the tell didn't come from within so I'm assuming the team search function since my comment does say SS/Fire brute.
Now I'm curious, how much should I have charge this person? Did he mean actual or ingame currency?
Does having SS/Fire as a team search comment automatically mean I PL people? Have one of my friends leaked that I provide a free power levelling service to friends?
An interesting conudrum.
Questions perhaps some of you could answer? -
I never kill spiders, unlike Wasps and those freakish Crane Flies (or Daddy Long Legs as they're called over here) spiders have a use, neither of the above things do anything useful (well maybe wasps do but I have yet to benefit from it!) plus Spiders also eat the above two which is major positives in my book.
Still that pint glass I use for trapping them is the general all round 'thing trapper' for the house, it is primarily used for catching mice brought in by the cat using exactly the same method as catching a spider (glass over the subject, slide paper underneath subject, turn glass right way up, subject falls into bottom of glass, subject is thrown outside...this is the process for all things that can be pint glass trapped...).
Still I do object to being used as a launching post by the tiny spiders...one time was chatting to a friend and I saw this little black dot fall past my eye, look down and see a tiny baby spider absailing down me as if I had just conquer Mount Everest and was now on the way down...
Cheeky little git...I wouldn't be surprised if he'd planted a flag somewhere laying claim to my head for the good of the spider kingdom! -
Hmm the Council DOES allow women to be in positions of power...we do have Arkhan for example who, apparently, is leader of the Galaxy section of the Council, so there would be allowance for female Galaxy troops but only female Galaxy troops, the rest of them, as mentioned, are faschists and they tend to prefer that women 'stay at home and do the cooking while the men fight'.
Freakshow could easily see women gang members, the Freakshow is all about being cyberneticed up the nines and providing they could smash heads with the best of them would easily gain entrance. Being disenfranchised, angry youths isn't soley a male teenage past time. Infact in Sharkshead you frequently see women running over to the Freakshow and starting to party, yelling "Wooo I'm partying with the Freakshow!". So there's obviously some appeal there.
Besides...someones got to look after the guys who swapped their arms for cybernetic hammers and being fed by a man in a gang already filled with atypical leet speaking muscular types probably isn't a big appeal for a disenfranchised youth who gets cybernetic enhancements to cause chaos and impress the girls... -
Quote:Dude if sarcasm could kill, I think you'd have just wiped out the entire population of a small country on that post alone...they're going to find everyone in the Vatican City dead now because of you, I hope you're happy...your sarcasm killed Nuns!Okay, I've had just about enough of this.
Lady Sadako, as a member of the Forum Cartel, you know good and well about the official Forum Public Opinion wiki maintained by your fellow Cartellians. I came to this thread following my marching orders to bash this "Bad Influence" person. As a loyal forum sheeple, it's my duty. I don't even know what B_I did to rile up the authors of Forum Public Opinion, but hey when I'm told to come here and uphold the status quo, I follow orders.
But seeing your disingenuous disavowal of the existence of the official Forum Public Opinion sickens me. It's as if scales have fallen off my eyes. I was blind, but now I see. I can have my own opinion! I don't have to blindly mouth the empty propaganda of Forum Public Opinion!
All I can say is: thank you, Bad Influence. I'm not sure I ever would have broken free of the Cartel's grip on my lemming-like forum posts if you hadn't been brave enough to speak truth to power.
I'm sure that Lady Sadako will now turn the vast resources of the Cartel against me, but I am not afraid. -
That's the thing, they bought the Champions IP and not the ruleset, the power picking thing is 'sort of' like Champions but not really.
Anyway...
Barb Arian aka Servant of Rularuu (two different characters, same person, different points in her life).
Barb Arian: Axe/SR brute: She's from War World which means that she's focused purely on fighting, it's a primitive world so she's easily impressed by magic or technology (-confuse resistance). She also tends to focus less on agility and more on brute strength (-5% defence to all, +10% damage). She is however, very hard to stop once she gets going (+resistance to slow, -recharge and immobilize).
Servant of Rularuu: SS/Fire brute: She lost to a personal nemesis and sought power wherever she could find it, she found it in the Shadow Shards...
At this point she's a complete psychopath worshipping a universe devouring diety, she's given up all pretense of defensive abilites and is just out to cause as much damage as possible (-10% defence to all, +20% damage, since she already lacks defense in any shape or form it means mobs would go from a 50% chance to hit, to a 60% chance to hit).
She's been altered and shifted at the whim of the Devourer but granted abilities to hide it from normal people (alternate form: Rularuu Overseer with all their abilities) but as such she still feels 'unnatural' to even the most remotely sane person, people just wont go near her or like dealing with her (-50% on all Influence earned, contacts take twice as long to give out their phone number and for Going Rogue, cannot side switch).
Dr Mechano: Bot/FF Mastermind: He's a frail old man and isn't one to do any actual fighting, prefering to let his bots do it for him (-20% HP). However he is a brillaint, if mad, scientist and can create wild and varying chemical potions (only requires 2 insps of any one variety to combine into another).
His battle drones are led by a single military AI (+acc) but as such during battle the three way split on the military AI causes some strain (-dmg).
The two Protector bots are fully sentient AI but unfortunately that means one will try to charge into melee and refuse to heal (Arhnuld, who loves his Conan moves, gains a 100% bonus to melee damage only and will only ever melee) and the other will hang back and just heal since Gizelda is the mothering type (heals do more and she heals more often).
The Assault bot Succubus aka Elise is a tempremental teenager (-defense -resistance to confuse) but tends to be more aggressive to make up for the other, less effective, robots and try to make her 'father' proud (+a lot of damage since only one of the Protector bots does damage and the Battle drones suffer from -damage as well) and better built than the others (+hp). -
I actually prefer the idea of 'City of Heroes: The series' compared to a movie.
Admittedly I'd love an animated series ala Justice League since that allows for more special effects to be used and on a significantly cheaper budget than a full blown movie.
Also it would allow for competitions to have a 'cameo' in the series. -
Quote:Agreed, let's just get this over with shall we?TBH, one of the main reasons for us having our own server farm in the first place, was maintenance times. Now they've shafted us on that, and gotten shot of our own NC office, what REALLY is the point of having EU servers anymore, hmmm?
Just merge the sodding server lists and get it over with.
Server list merger (not a server merge but listing the euro servers along with the US servers) would be grand and make life damn sight easier. -
Quote:Damn the very idea of an actual barking spider fills me with absolute terror.Dang, seems I missed all the fun in this thread. Silly barking spiders.
Even at regular, quite small, spider sizes we have in the UK compared to most countires the idea of seeing this tiny spider and it letting out this massive bark for no good reason would cause pants filling terror.
The terror would have doubled if it's a wolf spider (who are the big bad boys of the spider world in the UK and who barely fit under a pint glass used to trap them).
Still now I know what to produce should I ever need to fill the world with ungodly horrors through genetic tampering. -
See Big Dog had me worried for reasons other than the uncanny valley, the same reason that the MKV hoverbot has me worried, the MKV stands for Multiple Kill Vehicle by the way.
seriously, do a google search, there's videos of this thing in an unweaponized state currently... -
Would certainly going to be interesting considering one of my characters comes from Praetoria.
Her 'good version' exists on the European servers and has a completely different backstory to the Praetorian version. The good one was a product of genetic experimentation while the other was a mutant. Both of them Idolize 'their' version of Back Alley Brawler/Marauder. So one followed the path of hero and the other of villain.
In the virtueverse that good version never came to be due to the good versions all being linked to my "dimensionally unique" Mad scientist who is the reverse of everyone else and he's the only version in all dimensions to exist... stole the idea from GURPS which has that very thing as an advantage option. -
-
Just curious, if I'm going to sign up for a second US account, does anything apart from my login name need to be different, I can use the same credit card, address, email address etc. can't I?

I don't think Humanity could ever accept a perfect world...to use one of the lesser used quotes from the Matrix.
Quote:Personally I believe he's right, humans could never accept a perfect world, we do define ourselves through the hardships and life lessons we learn, if everything is perfect and nobody suffers, there is nothing to learn. We really do define our reality through suffering and misery but it's how we deal with it that makes us what we are.Agent Smith: Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some believed we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world. But I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through suffering and misery. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from.
A perfect world, where there was no hate, no anger, no negative emotions at all would be a hollow world, a stale almost lifeless world. You cannot define one emotion without it's exact opposite.
Even with a manifest of switching off those emotions, something, somewhere would trigger them to rise of them once more.
We fear what is unknown to us, we fear that which is different to us but as with any fear, we can overcome these fears and it is those that swallow their fear and do what many are too afraid to do which brings out the best and worst in humanity.
Xavier is right, even if he COULD force all of humanity to not hate mutants, it would chafe against some part of us and would probably do more harm than good when the wall finally breaks down and all the hatred, rage, fear and jealousy flows out in one massive outpouring. -
You know what I'd rather see for Assault Rifle.
Now this may be a tad too advanced right now (we have selectable animations for various powers so I'm unsure exactly how feasible this is or not).
I'd love to do the whole 'FPS weapon range' thing, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense for one rifle to do everything from a single shot to firing a rocket (if you have Munitions).
So the options for the various powers becomes keeping the original in (for those that hate the redraw this would lead to...) and with a different option, each option would also allow for weapon customisation within that pool.
Burst:
Dual pistols (same animation as the cone attack from the MM thugs pistol set but single target).
Slug:
Carbine (Musket, Western, Modern).
Buckshot:
Shotgun (pump, Jackhammer auto-shotgun, double barrelled, sawn off).
M30 Grenade:
Grenade launcher (one shot single tube, rotating cartridge version ala TF2 Demo man).
Beanbag:
Shotgun (same models).
Sniper Rifle:
name says it all (Musket, Dragunov lookalike, Barrett M107 lookalike, current sniper rifle option).
Flamethrower and Ignite:
Flamethrower (one we have ingame now as a temp weapon/used by Longbow Flamethrowers, oldschool WW2 style flamethrower).
Full Auto:
Minigun (Longbow/council/5th column minigun, Nemesis smaller minigun).
Muntions mastery:
Cryo-Freeze ray:
Mastermind pulse rifle options.
LRM:
Missile launcher (used by the Council/5th Column).
That I would really love because it gives a proper kind of 'tooled up' style of weapon user (along with the standard question of 'where do you store all this' which has haunted FPS since Wolfenstien 3D but it's a comic book game...who cares...) -
I was curious as to how you create a mission that appears empty at first but upon clicking of a glowie, the mobs all spawn.
Any help will be muchly appreciated.
