  1. I do find the idea that they didn't think of the connection while writing Dominatrix's bio only to have it pointed out by people on the forums quite funny.

I imagine someone at the Paragon Studios (then Cryptic) office did a massive face palm when asked who was to blame for this?

Oh and Silver Mantis really is more than just 'suggestive' the entire fight with her in the STF is a bit of an 'wah?' moment if you actually read the text. Considering she's never, up until that point, said stuff like that in any other encounter...
  2. I quite like the Ziggursky Prison thank you...

For the exact reason you loyalist despise it...the...open door policy.

Well it's not so much an open door as an Arachnos flier landing in the courtyard and ferrying new free thinkers out of that 'democracy' called Paragon and into the Isles. Yes you do have to put up with Recluse but he keeps himself to himself most of the time plus I do own a hat of his...well it came off his future self and...it's a long story.

If a ruler is impressed enough that I beat him up and took his hat that he gives me free reign to do whatever I wish...I'm going to prefer him more. I mean I don't think Cole even has a hat does he?

If so I wish to steal it to prove a point and add it to my growing collection of 'things I stole off of people after defeating them using forcefields and robots'. See in free society I can have that collection, in Paragon or Praetoria I'm not allowed such a thing.

Plus Cole still doesn't have a hat...I can't stand a man who can't pick good headwear...

    I'm not insane you know...
  3. Sorry to but a crimp in your style plant lover but wasn't the Hamidon confirmed by the devs to not exist in Praetoria?

Of course I may be wrong, research can often be hard about this matters, the devs are not the best procastinators in the world, they need more evil laughing and dramatic effects to really give their speeches more...oomph...
  4. hmm

Praetoria..yeah...heard the stories from those who served with the Maiden of Battle, this gleaming city where nobody goes hungry, where you don't have to fight. Sounds like a Paradise right?

See that's my problem, we...what do you call us...ah yes 'War Worlders' can't live in a place like that, where's the struggle, the bloodshed, the glory of combat?

Once my goal was to be good enough to finally be taken to Praetoria as one of the elite warriors the Maiden of Battle accepts into her retinue...since I've been in this world, things have changed.

I've learned that to exist in combat is the best way and I've learned there's something far more powerful than Emperor Cole. Some people call me crazy for worshipping Rularuu but atleast I know my God exists and that his second coming will devour the multiverse. I live for the now, for the thrill of combat, because nothing else is going to matter soon enough. Mark my words, the great Rularuu will reforge himself...so I'm going to go there and see where the battle takes me...might end up a hero...might still be a villain... Rularuu guides my path..."

Now my namesake has already made his intentions clear (check the sig image and topic).

Pah, Resistance and Loyalists are both fools...I will not bow to this 'Emperor' Cole the same way I would not bow to Statesman, Recluse or Reichsman...they are merely a force for order...order which I CANNOT stand. Atleast Recluse gives us scientists free reign to experiment as we wish, I doubt Emperor Cole would offer me the same opportunity....

Now the Resistance are too weak to truly do what is required...you want to take the Tyrant down...nuke his palace, sure there will be civilian casualties but those are the sacrifices of true freedom. Both sides can go to hell as I say let anarchy reign through Praetoria.

I shall bring them science that they could not have dreamed of, terrors greater than their worst nightmares and true freedom, to do whatever it is you wish, do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law is my motto...another rather interesting gentleman had the same motto...I can't remember his name...some master of the dark arts but he had the right idea.

Praetoria will burn to the ground and I shall be herald as both saviour and as villain...

Hmm you do make a good point...the current Mother Mayhem map (or Mercy hospital as I like to call it) wouldn't really fit with the new 'clean utopia' look of Praetoria.

Perhaps it starts out laid out as a regular hospital, nice, clean and stark white and the further down you go the more and more disturbing it becomes, cells full of twisted experiments howling for blood, hands clawing out of the little windows as you pass, signs of horrid experimentation until the bottom layer is a silent hill other world type hospital where Mother Mayhem and Malaise plot, plan and do their worst to those that they capture.
  6. Well nice to see the movement is slowly growing, slower than both Loyalist and Resistance...though faster than the Pantless faction.

As I said in my last, there is a serious thought behind this and isn't just making up factions for the silliness of it.

Cole's kind of evil is very...well..organised, where would the opportunites be for the villain that just loves to do whatever the hell they like. They're not going to take orders from Cole and they're certainly not going to help the Resistance, which is why I suggested the third faction, the Crime Syndicate, be more of the traditional 'out for yourself' villainous option.

For example a story arc could require that the Crime Syndicate need someone busted out of a holding cell in a Praetorian Police station but the place is too heavily guarded at the moment. So you go and plant a homing device in a rebel base which alerts the Praetoria PD to the location while your contact sends an anoymous tip to the PPD about the Resistance numbers being a lot larger than they actually are.

So they dispatch enough officers from the station for you to be able to bust in, cause a ruckass and get the target out for your well earned pay day. Of course both sides are going to suspect the Syndicate so you have to go about laying evidence that each side has a traitor in their ranks, then sit back and watch the fireworks for the finale.

You get handsomely paid and you get to see both Loyalists and Resistance duke it out for giggles.
  7. There is a point to this topic more than just providing people who don't want to fit in with the Resistance or the Loyalist.

Traditional villains aren't going to want to bow to Cole, they are free wheelers, mercenaries or just plain crazy. Now Mercs aren't going to have a problem working for Cole, he will obviously pay the best out of the two sides but there are those who villainy isn't about just getting paid, it's getting paid on your own terms, making profit doing what YOU want to do, robbing banks, kidnapping people and generally being villainous.

I wish the devs would implement a second villainous option that isn't serving Cole but actually doing the dirty work for the Crime Syndicate. After all they would see the benefits in getting some super powered villains on the payroll. If written well (and not like most CoV contacts who call you a common thug to your face even if you've bested Recluse) then it could work out.

"Listen, I hear ya want to make some cash but don't want to be on the 'offical' Cole payroll, then we got the opportunites for one with your talents. Now if ya the type with scruples I suggest you walk away now, what we're doing ain't gonna be pretty BUT it is going to make you wealthy...now both sides got stuff we want...so be prepared for a lot of hate but then...you're probably use to that..."
  8. Yeah the comic books do give rather large 'hints' that she does serve Grandpa in 'every capacity'.
  9. We now have a signature! Thanks Orion *hugs in a manly fashion* However we also have a second signature thanks to Cbeet! We winning on the signature wars front!

That's the spirit Goliath! Take what you need from who you must, ignore the petty squabbles of the Resistance and the loyalists, only the self matters!
  10. We'll be having a signature soon enough you pantless hero you...

Having seen your topic...surely we are both after the same thing, can we not form an alliance?
  11. That's what heroes do though...they ALWAYS look for option 3 or as i like to call it, the Superman option (since he was given a choice between saving Person A (usuall Louise Lane) and Person B (usually Jimmy...) more times than I've had hot dinners)
  12. (Also note that thanks to Orion that an Anarchists 'Bows to No-one' signature is on the way, it'll feature one of the Crime Syndicate as it's character to keep in with the GR character usage theme).
  13. Hmm...

Would the Freakshow think that Praetoria is like the most awesome dimension ever?

I mean they can smash stuff up and be hailed as heroes, infact the Resistance would actively encouraged the bringing down of Cole's monuments. I could see the Resistance actively hiring the Freakshow for a bit of urban deconstruction. Come for the pay, stay for the carnage!

Primal Earth Nemesis is definitely going to want to take an interest in Praetoria...I mean...he's not there...how awful for those people it must be if the benefactor of Steam Powered Peace cannot descend from on high and save the people from ruler who clearly isn't fit to rule...

No...that's what I was planning to do...you heard me...already called dibs on the skull! I might just put his brain into a killer robot and unleash it upon the Resistance...just for giggles!
  15. (s'alright we villains are a diverse bunch..and atleast it shows some support for the 'not supporting Cole' type of villainy)
  16. May I suggest you check out the pamphlet called For Profit! For Science! For yourself!

    *hands Steelclaw the Pamphlet*

There's money to be made in Praetoria!
  17. Pah I will hear from neither of you.

Your threats are empty loyalist, we villains are legion, you may have your precious police force and your little seers but none shall be able to stop the wave of terror which shall consume Praetoria once the portal opens, we shall bring with us all which you call scum and filth...

You..in the Resistance...rest assured I will not help you. If your little band of wimps has something I need, I shall take it from you by force...

Know this both of you, anarchy and villainy is coming to your dimension...some may change and decide that being a 'hero' is best for them but most of us...we wont be helping anyone but ourselves...

(as an aside I am hoping they do offer a second 'villainous' path which doesn't support Emperor Cole but is more of a Rogue Isles style of villainy for those of us who want to stay a villain but don't want to be helping Cole.)
  18. Don't listen to those fools in the Loyalist camp, their blind faith in what this so called 'Emperor' Cole says that Utopia must be achieved through any means, it's just another form of control, like any goverment and any form of control, whether it be enforced by the rules of society or by an iron fisted regime, is wrong.

But do not listen to the fools in the Resistance either, doing what is 'right' gains you nothing, the praise of the people cannot pay your rent, feed your family or get that really nice death ray that just hit the open market...

Pah! They are both idiots, no choose your own path, one that is neither heroic nor a blind follower this Tyrant...

No, profit is to be had out of Praetoria and not for 'the good of the people' but for ourselves. Go to Praetoria to carve your own destiny. Smash down those monuments, bring down those glittering palaces and make yourself your own empire, true villainy does not abide by rules and laws but neither does it help the weak...

If the resistance was strong enough, Cole would not be in the position he is in now, they are weak, take what you need of them and leave them to 'fight the good fight'.

As a mad scientist I cannot stand the thought of helping either side, I will not submit to Cole and I will not submit to the will of the resistance. True villains, stand up and fight for your freedom and take whatever you feel is yours.

    Down with Cole!

    Down with the Resistance!

Down with this sort of thing!

    Long Live anarchy and freedom!

(this message bought to you by Dr Mechano, a member of the Mad Scientist Union).
  19. For a while there's certainly going to be a clash between legacy content and Going Rogue content.

Since a Hero's hero arc makes Praetoria out to be the dimension of the 'evil goatee' variety but the GR content will make it out to be the 'oppressive ruling elite with superpowers doing it for the good of humanity' variety.

I still find the idea intriuging that potentially Primal Earth could screw up Praetoria more than just suddenly having an influx of good/evil super powered beings. Stuff tends to follow us through portals, Nemesis will see a dimension without him and ego wouldn't let that stand, after all, every dimension deserved the right to a real benevolent ruler. The Freakshow (and almost every other level 40-50 foe) have broken into Portal Corp before and muscled their way to a new universe, what's to stop them now?

Malta are NOT going to like the idea of Praetoria, since it's their worst fear realised, so I can imagine detachments of Malta being snuck in to set up new cells there and take out any super powered being they can.

Basically we're bring a whole heap of trouble with us through the portal and possibly making Praetoria a battleground for more than just the Resistance and Tyrant...
  20. Wait...but if the heroes of Paragon and the villains of the Rogue Isles are now moving in to Praetoria...doesn't that mean old brass bucket face is going to follow them?

I mean he's already experienced with portal travel (no spoilers here so not telling you how) or atleast being able to chuck automatons through a portal so aren't we going to be the ones introducing Nemesis to Praetoria.

Oh god! I've just realised...surely people will follow heroes and villains through the portals, Praetoria is rich pickings for those that can carve their niche out there. I imagine Primal Earth's Lord Recluse is more than willing to have a punch up with Tyrant.

    Ooooh question...

Wouldn't Reichsman like to bringeth the smacketh down on Tyrant, I mean he's got a serious hate-on for Statesman so wouldn't Tyrant be another version of himself he needed to defeat in order to increase his power...or has he already done so during the 5th TF/SF?

Hmm...there's something I wouldn't mind seeing...the 4 versions of Statesman having a massive ruckass, Imperious, Tyrant, Statesman and Reichsman, who would win?

Yup it's mentioned in his background, rather than being encouraged to 'go easy' with the demon binding, He was actively encouraged to bind more and more demons by Diabloque until their power corrupted him completely.
  22. My War World character (who had heard stories of Praetoria from those who served Battle Maiden) will be anxious to get to see the magnificent city herself however she is also out to test her strength against the toughest foes she can find being the warrior that she is, her goal is defeat, with or without the help of companions (she knows there is always someone bigger and better than you no matter how tough you are, thus she realises the need for companions), the signature heroes and villains.

She has bested Reichsman, the Freedom Phalanx and the Vindicators but she wants to test her mettle against the four Patrons, Lord Recluse and all the other Arachnos lackies.

Once she has bested them...then her sights will be turned to the Praetorians...none shall stand in the way of her goal...
  23. Quite glad now that the evil Praetorian version of my SS/invuln Tanker actually comes from War World (a world that Battle Maiden comes from and recruits the people into her army) rather than Praetoria. She's not 'evil' in the "muwhahaha take over the world" sense she just has a good love of violence since that's how things on War World operate, you're either an Elder, a Warrior, a Magic user or you're a nobody (nobody as in you don't have fame and the spoils of war lavished upon you...instead you do the farming and other such actually important duties that sustain the wars but the battle obsessed world sees as unimportant).
  24. Ech yes, really want the Resistance costume pieces, more so than the Praetorian Clockwork. We already have robot/cyborgs stuff but no decent tech armour which the Resistance members are using, kind of looks like a sleeker, more heroic, version of the Freakshow outfits.

I am kind of an odd person, even as far back as Streets of Rage 2, I've wanted to play as the enemy mobs, specifically the bosses, not for their sheer overpoweredness they would be in such a game, even if they toned them done to be on the same level as other characters.

I understand that most NPCs are built from the ground up with only those specific parts in mind. The most idiotic one was a specific mustache for an unnamed Midnighter of no importance made it into the costume creator during beta testing. It was one of the proper '1800s British explorer' style ones and would have gone awesome with the monocle....

no...it was NPC only...this isn't a signature NPC piece...it's used on a nobody NPC and I never understood why it was pulled. Signature NPC parts I can understand, no matter how much I yern to have a Clockwork King Brain in a jar style headpiece, it ain't gonna happen.

After the Vanguard were introduced I assumed that had changed, each added villain group would allow for players to unlock their costumes in some way. Of course the Sybils proved otherwise (something about breaking the 'one cape rule' which frankly is bupkiss considering you can have the Bridal hair with trail and a cape).

Lets be brutually honest here...we're not going to be ever seeing any of the legacy NPC costumes on players...ever. Despite the fact I reckon they could easily sell them at a larger cost as a big booster pack called 'Enemy Mine...' to keep the cost down, don't include any additions of temp powers or emotes or anything as amazing as the Science booster pack (bodyshape changing) and just have it as purely costume pieces.
  25. ah the contacts...

    ...heroside contact never changes...

This is something they probably could do 'inbetween issues' once they've got Going Rogue out the door and in a decent shape. Get someone to tidy up the early stuff.

However I think Going Rogue IS going to introduce newbie revamps if I've read correctly.
