Hmm all that hype for A Rikti invasion week seems kind of...well...wasted...
Though I wouldn't put it past them to use secretive clues and twitter hints to get us talking so it takes our mind off the lack of info on GR people are crying for.
Forum has something to talk about, speculation goes wild for a couple of weeks, announce rikti invasion week, everyone goes 'meh' and it's served its purpose -
I think a previous person summed it up nicely with regards the use of imminent.
"I do not think that word means what you think it means..." -
oh please no...don't let it be just another rikti invasion week...
-
Quote:Agreed. If they were waiting to get more build up, it may be back firing. IF they wait much longer, I think people will just start getting annoyed, which will shift into ticked off.
Though if that's the case it does give rise to an interesting new slogan.
"Rikti, don't believe the hype!" -
The other word is that Positron TF is actually an amalgimation of his own TF and the Faultline Trial hence why it's so ruddy long...
-
Part of me is sitting her thinking that the devs/mods were going.
"Yeah rikti invasion, the playerbase is going to be stoked if we hype it up a little..."
After seeing the wild speculation and writhing mass of raised hopes.
"Crap...can we really tell them it's just a Rikti invasion week...erm...think of something...QUICK!" -
No, dear god no, to WoW style 'endgame' stuffs that while aren't 'forced' are pretty much arbitary (if you don't raid in WoW your choices are limited to PvP, grinding daily quests or running the same dungeons over and over when your at level cap).
I came to this game to get AWAY from raiding, I did my time damnit, I put in this 12 hours a week (4 hours a night, 3 nights a week) and even THAT level of casual raiding became something I dreaded because I HAD to log in for it even if I didn't feel like it otherwise I'd be letting the guild down.
So no, a WoW style endgame can do shove it's head down the toilet to drown! -
Agreeing with the post above me.
While certain maps are all well and good to be 'random' Caves of any type and the Circle of Thorns city (it's an ancient underground city filled with ghosts, most of which is in ruins, makes sense that tunnels have collapsed and with the use of portals for a Non-Euclidean geometry and city building).
However office buildings which follow and different floorplan on each floor, some of which if you take the actual floorplans would be a complete mess of a building where it looks like random sideways tetris blocks stacked ontop of each other.
Both posters want more maps AND maps that make sense but 'random' as in you get office block 1, 2, 3 etc. unfortunately that's a lot of work to put out but the two points aren't something that clash.
The ship map by contrast makes a whole lot of sense, they're long and..well..cargo ship shaped as they should be. -
Quote:All of this^Alternative strategies:
a) Post in the appropriate board and ask for a budget IO'd build. 90% performance for 10% of the price is pretty common, and there's no way she'll feel inadequate with a well designed but still budget (and, thus, easily achievable) build.
b) Inventions Forum, ask about "frankenslotting vs. pure sets", she'll surely get good answers of how VERY effective frankenslotting can be compared to standard SOs, and how it's pretty good even when comparing to budget IO builds.
Oh, and when she gets to level 35 and beyond, she WILL like Elec/Shield scrappers, they're little fluffy balls of explosive doomy doom <3 "Farming" with mine is incredibly fun simply because at +3/x8, the world is your farm, you can do anything and still rack in the inf.
What server is this on, btw?
EDIT: I forgot! Oddly appropriately, my SO/Common IO built Broadsword/Regen scrapper has the MoSTF badge. Just for her informationShe has exactly three set bonuses, 3 minor regens. She was level 50 by issue 4, and I've never bothered re-building her.
Franken slotting can achieve amazing results for very little cost, also explain to her she doesn't always have to use the most expensive IOs, while Kinetic combat is incredibly expensive Smashing Haymaker offers half the bonus at a fraction of the price for example. -
I probably should have put an
at the end of my post, it was meant merely in jest good people!
Still I can only assume that because all the enemies in the Baby new year mission drop magical salvage there was very little tech salvage to go on the market, hence the climbing prices. -
Petitions aren't generally used around here, infact there's a forum rule agains it Fugivita, however you are welcome to post such things in the 'Suggestion' forum in the form of...well...a suggestion.
However as already noted there is already a suggestion to keep the Chalet open all year round.
Edit: Didn't see the registration date just saw the post count...if you don't use the forums often Fugivita I do suggest looking at the stickied forum rules first. -
Oh I hadn't thought of that problem.
What would you suggest to replace the uberweapon instead of a giant mekman? -
If the tails ARE animated I suspect the reason they would be seperate from belts is that they would occupy the back option so you couldn't say select a cape and a tail however it would allow for tail and belts.

the default for reset camera is Page down.

Quote:This, oh gods this!Signature hero/villain parts are probably a no-go for specific reasons. Mainly because perhaps the Devs want to feel special with their avatars.
Speaking of which, Sister Psyche needs a unique hairstyle since her one seems to keep changing in the comics and official CGI artwork!
But I do like the "Enemy Group Parts" idea. Each group has their own thing to contribute. Examples:
Carnies: Masks, ringmistress thigh-high boots and the gloves which go past elbow length
Cimerorans: He-Man chest armour (I dunno what it's called, but it looks great for barbarian types!)
Cimeroran Traitors: Minotaur and Cyclop heads
Crey: Paragon Protector outfits and helmet
Freakshow: Various Freakshow parts like the arms, for example
Wyvern: Boots (since their backpack parts are probably not doable yet)
Kheldians: The SASHES! Good god, why do we not have them yet? XD
There's even a decent name you could use for it, call the pack 'Enemy Mine' -
Yeah, I know, invasions...whoo freaking hoo, people are fed up with them between the Rikti and Zombies turning up on a nigh daily basis but let me suggest something a little different.
Now all this is pretty much guesswork as to whether it could be achieved or not....
Any time someone completes the Dr Khaaaaannn! or Baracuda strike force there is a 50% chance of them summoning a 5th Column attack strike force, that's 25% chance per side each time one of the new Reichsman based TFs are complete. This way it keeps them both a nice surprise and rarely sprung (seriously not many people even bother running the 5th TFs anyway...).
The player event notice comes up with "5th Column retalitory strike against Atlas/Rogue Isles bound for [whichever zone is randomly selected] all non-combatants are advised to seek shelter!"
Now in order to make this more than just a 'players group up and fight off incoming waves' invasion the invading 5th Column troops will actually have key targets, just somewhere they'll move to, using the 'phasing' technology used in RV or the same tech used for building of the Clockwork Paladin, the more troopers that reach this key target, the more entrenched they become (sandbags->Bunker with voice tanoy mast ontop broadcasting inspirational speeches to the troops->metal fortifications...ok not really thought that part through). Even when the invasion is over any 5th Column left at their entrenched positions will remain (though nothing a single scrapper couldn't clear out).
The 5th Column are parachute in from a redesigned Atlas blimp, now in black with the 5th Column logo on it AND attackable. They're blimps, these things move slow. Unlike the Rikti Dropships you are actively encouraged to take them out since this stops the ground forces from spawning and entrenching in their objective. However for every blimp that goes 'boom' another one will fly into the zone.
After a set period a message will come up in Players 'event' section "The 5th Column has called in their uberweapon!"
With that the massive 5th Column mek-man we had previewed in the AE on test a while back lands (using the same animation as the Assault bot summoning).
Being your standard GM his defeat awards 2 merits.
Badges:
No ticket!: You've destroyed one of the 5th Column invasion blimps, nobody flies illegally in your airspace!
Mekapocalypse: You've destroyed the gigantic wunderweapon of the 5th Column.
Just throwing the suggestion out there, good, bad or indifferent, it is for you people to decide. I like the idea but I'm kind of mulling it over myself. -
Winter event ends Tuesday night...we may find out what the heck this is all about.
If it IS just another Rikti invasion event...count my hopes dash against the jagged rocks while I cry 'oh ye gads...let me contain my excitement..' in a sarcastic manner.
Seriously it seems like every time the 'natives get restless' (as they are now, lack of GR info etc.) the Rikti invasions get trotted out... -
Scientific Theory going for 130k-2 million inf.
Alright which one of you market guru's is to blame for this, heads will roll damnit! -
Positron = end boss is only an Elite Boss which is pretty easy to take out solo.
Manticore = Hopkins is a GIGANTIC WUSS! He's labelled as an AV but feels more like an Elite Boss, bring a Shivan (name them Steve, shivans always work better when named, a little superstition on my part) and you should be fine.
Those are the only two I've ever solo'd both times with my DM/Regen scrapper. -
This is it, AoC has actually gone a long way to fix a lot (but not all) the problems it started out with, at launch it was (to be brutal) terrible but they really got their act together and made it a lot better but that doesn't matter for jack because people will still go "Age of Conan...wasn't that really awful?".
As mention, CO had a fairly craptacular start which means that it's going to be stuck with that same impression, MMOs only get to make one decent first impression on a customer after that, it all goes down hill. CO didn't help itself by the opening day power nerf, it was needed yes but it didn't help peoples impressions. The dev team (namely Captain Bill...) have shown they're rather nerf happy at times and really don't know how to tweak things (offensive passive powers being reduced from 'meh' to 'awful' thanks to the opening day patch anyone?) often times not realising that their nerfing has knock on effects to other powers or the game itself in general.
CO had some great ideas but they were fairly awfully implemented, not to mention the shadow of STO looming over the staff (which rumour has it caused a large chunk of the CO staff to be pulled from it to work exclusively on the new big cash cow of STO).
This does tend to follow the trend of a massive number of 'subscribers' (who aren't really subscribed but using the free box time...I am one of these people) all converging on an MMO at release then once that free month is up, a sizeable chunk of them disappear.
Take Aion for example and the fact that their more popular servers were full to the point of bursting, people complained that they couldn't get on without a massive wait. NCsoft replied that they weren't going to open up more servers and there's a good reason for this, they knew those truly massive numbers wouldn't last beyond the initial free month, so why open a load of servers only to have to cull them back three-to-six months later when it all died down or leave them running with the player base spread too thin.
Warhammer Online suffered a similar problem, it opened with simply too many servers and six months after launch they had to merge a load of them because the playerbase had spread itself too far across all the servers, though this wasn't WARs only failing, it was one of them (Though I will admit out of the recent MMOs I've played, I enjoyed WAR the most and if you're looking for a fantasy based MMO that isn't WoW I would heartily recommend it).
Fallen Earth (which I tried to enjoy but was just too complicated for a 'fun time game' for me) and Eve (same problem) both have/had the right idea, start out small and grow. Oddly enough the two games, mechanics wise, are kind of similar in that they require a lot of planning and a decent knowledge of the game to actually get the most out of it. The playerbase is going to be smaller but far more dedicated. -
*sarcasm meter explodes*
Go easy man...seriously...I can't keep buying these things.
Personally it does seem that PvP in any game brings out the worst in people, would I casually PvP again...probably not...just nolonger appeals to me personally. -
What I think he means by "you are what you are at launch" is that the impression the public will have of you is the impression they get at launch, doesn't matter how much the game grows and irons out the kinks the general public will still have the preception of whatever problems at launch are still there.
Age of Conan is still regarded as a bug riddled mess of an MMO with content that runs out at level 40 and doesn't start again until level 70, meaning you have to grind 30 levels...everyone knows they've done a lot to fix the problems they had at launch but AoC will never shake the general perception it had about it at launch. -
and optimism is what gets Rikti killed...
Seriously why do they keep teleporting in against overwhelming super powered odds?
One day they believe they will succeed, I can just picture the Rikti commander being a Zapp Brannigan type person who just keeps throwing men at the problem until he/she (Rikti military commanders can be female) thinks they'll win through sheer attrition.
Errggh...horrible thought female Rikti commander wanting to 'pull a Kirk' and try to seduce herself some earth-prime males.
Mind you give me enough alcohol and I'd probably say yes to it in the end (just hope I wouldn't remember it...).
Rikti in a lacy lingerie giving you come hither stares...you've thought it..you can't unthink it! -
Hmm I'm...I seriously doubt they'd go all out for just a Rikti Invasion week, normally it's just an announcement...something is up.
However don't get your hopes up people it could just be a Rikti invasion week still... -
I meant gaming wise, not movie wise, in Britain we do have a heavy restriction on Adult movies of course (the 18R is the equivilent of an Adults Only in America which is only purchasable at certain shops in Soho and restricted to 'educational' videos for adults.)
