This can be done, but it requires an artist that both CAN make it work and actually WANTS to make it work. I don't doubt Jay's ability to produce this kind of material, but I SERIOUSLY doubt his willingness to, and I know that it's best not to ask an artist to work on material that he dislikes. The results are just never on the same level as the artist's favourite work.
And thus comes the major problem, Jay has in the past said that he 'hates Furries' and thus would never sink so low as to make any costume parts that could be even remotely considered furryish. What I'm hoping with the fact Jay now has minions, he can pass this on to them since he has an unrational hatred of Furries but for the new hires it's a chance to prove themselves (or possibly usurp Jay from his position since they're more open to compromise than he is...).

WoW (which is mentioned around the forum) on the other hand is really repetitive with it's 80 levels loooong quest grind, it's 'based on end-game stuf and not really have anything to do for low levels' concept (yes i have played wow and I had level 80's so I'm not just trolling), and boring unsatisfying PVE killing.
This is what I don't get, why does WoW get a free pass on repetition when the entire endgame content of WoW is based soley on repetition?

You run the dungeons that drop the items you need until you get that item, this can take many, MANY tries to get that item (for example even though I've long since passed the need to complete the level 60 dungeon set called Beaststalkers I had at level 60. I use to run Stratholme undead side solo at 70 and 80 to see if the pants part of the set would ever drop since it didn't when I was level 60...I counted around 60 runs of Stratholme UD and still no drop of that particular item).

Then once you're finally all tooled up from the dungeons you go and raid the same instance for months on end until everyone is appropriately geared to move on to the next one.

So the entire endgame is based around boring repetition of the same instances and yet it gets a free pass?

(and yes I have played WoW, I played it for four years, so not just trolling).
  3. Elise nodded, "sorry hun but the burden of providing proof is on you...can you show us the medical reports saying that Molly Longstaff's gun was reponsible for ending Pious's life?"

"As I said, there's no real way of knowing, the FBSA is going to keep things underwraps while Arachnos continue to tell half-truths, unless someone brings forward info and the eyewitnesses speak up, both hero and villain, to tell their sides of the story we're never going to get the full picture..."

I would make some of the gangs to be proxies of some of the major players. The Hellions would be ultimately controlled by the CoT, the Skulls by the BP, similar to how the Lost are tied to the Rikti.
Actually the low level gangs ARE proxies of higher ones in background lore you just very very rarely see it ingame. the Superadine Cartel goes Skulls->Trolls->Family while an opposing cartel who deal in magical items goes Hellions->Outcasts->Tsoo.

The avatar ponders for a brief moment before continuing.

"However, I believe Longstaff WarTech have made it clear on their site that Molly's weaponry is for the most part experimental and as such not for sale at this very moment. Excuse me, I'll just find the relevant page."

After a short pause, a small rectangular window pops up in front of her, which splits off into several copies then she flicks it with her finger, one for each person in the room. It's a list of FAQs about the company on its own website, one of the questions and its answer confirming her belief.
"Yes well..the corporate FAQ would say that wouldn't it."

The avatar tilted it's head, "as you just said, if the weapons are experimental perhaps Ms Longstaff sought to test them under battlefield conditions...but that's probably not what was going on, unlike Countess Crey Molly doesn't seem to have a crack legal team at her beck and call to get her out of any jam so it wouldn't be worth the risk..."

She giggled, "for all we know television could have influenced Pious to beat up that villain who surrendered, you know too many 70's cop shows...it's about as sound as any of the other conspiracy theories being thrown around here."
  6. ech...

Virgin Media cable modems have been nothing but problems recently, ever since they took over from Telewest I've had problems atleast once a month.

Unfortunately because the telephone pole is full on lines I can't ditch them and go with another line provider since they're the only ones which provide a cable modem service.
  7. Ok getting REALLY peeved off now...it's just started doing it again for no explained reason, got auto-disconnected from the servers as if my modem had just dropped connecting and now I can't seem to connect once more.

I know this isn't a CoH problem but is there someone out there that can suggest what it is?
  8. Yeah it seems to have corrected itself all of a sudden. Think it may have been a problem with Virgin Media...
  9. Ok so a mapservered and then disconnected, happens occasionally no biggie. Now when I first reboot the updater wont connect, so I reboot my PC and leave it off for 5 minutes, this normally solves the problem.

Now I can connect but every time I go to log in it says the usual thing said when the servers are down (behind a firewall or the servers could be having maintenance...).

Any ideas what causes this and whether the EU servers are still up and kicking or is it just me?

Edit: Now if I quit from CoH once I get connected, the updater refuses to reconnect to the game.

2nd Edit: Ok now I can reconnect as normal but I still get the "behind firewall or servers down for maintenance" every time I try to log in. However the US client still wont respond (I have EU and US account).

Guys getting really frustrated as I don't know what else to do, anyone out there able to help?
  10. While I like the idea I'm against it as is.

Mainly for the reason I tend to craft recipes in the level 30-35 range even on a level 50 character for two reasons.

    1) They're cheaper.

    2) When I exemp down it means I can exemp further without those IOs losing their set bonuses.

Under this scheme my level 50 would only be able to create level 47-50 IOs. How about instead of the -/+3 levels when you craft a recipe you get to select its level?
  11. Wouldn't you keep the other 90% as a buffer though?

In Medieval total war I usually had several large groups of peasants, they were cheap but rubbish at fighting (during a peasant revolt my 80 armoured knights took on 400 peasants and dispatched them with ease) but I used them as a buffer so that enemy forces would hit the peasants first which would tie them up for a short time while my proper troops got into position or I'd simply tell my cannons to switch to canister shot and fire into the peasants which would take out some of my more numerous peasants but also a large chunk of the enemy

Surely that other 90% of superpowered people would be useful just to delay or tie up the Devouring Earth while your elite troops went and did their tasks, sure the ones holding the line aren't the 'best of the best' but they're going to take a few with them and then the elite troops can mop up afterwards.

no no no...think Cluedo...or as your americans call it...Clue (seriously Cluedo just sounds more Agatha Christie Poirotesque...)

I think it was Castle, in the PvP forums, with a Nova blast!
  13. Elise's avatar smiled.

"Well now that depends on what you want to know and how much time you have...oh and hi Bodi, Dad says hello too..."

A rather faint voice could be heard in the background, "and unhook yourself from the internet...your eating up valuable data processing time...I need that processing power for villainy you know!"

"It's my private time dad, I'll do whatever I want...sorry about that everyone...he's just a bit grouchy he missed out on all the fun," she uses the 'quotation figure gesture' emote when saying fun.

    Elise pondered for a moment.

"I seriously doubt these little skirmishes were a means of weapons trials between Ms Longstaff and the Corporation...even in the Rogue Isles we still have weapons expo events, you know all the latest and greatest gather to show off their new explosive toys or doomsday devices...infact I distinctly remember the European Villainous Immorality League holding several such expos themselves back before it all went sour..."

She giggled, "so what would be the point in this skirmish if the Corporation and their ilk can readily show off their weapons at such events..."

The faint voice came back, "and why do I never get invited?!"

"Because a death ray powered by a washing machine isn't a decent weapon Dad..."

She sighs and her avatar shakes her head, "if really should just turn off external audio but if something explodes he's going to need some help..."

    lordyofboardys

    Wow...interesting choices for rednames.

Not ones that were announced recently either (Televsion etc.).

Lordyofboardys sounds like a new forum mod (he has one post but when you click on find posts by user it comes up with nothing...).

As for BodyInBasement I have no idea...
  15. Elise's avatar spoke up.

"Hero, one, the other heroes, if what I can gather, all agreed that he'd gone too far."

She rested her hand on her chin in a pondering fashion.

"Of course how many times has Pious died and come back from the dead anyway...you know nobody really stays dead for long around here...even that hero Britannic has mysterious turned up after his dimensional jumping antics took him out of the limelight for a long period of time, even the villain Dr Mechano disappeared for six months, everyone assumed him dead but he returned, again through means of portal hopping..."

She giggled, "of course the actions of Pious are now out in the public domain...infact I can assure people the Rogue Isle Protector did report this with some glee, along with boastings by a one Commander Krimzon about how this is an example of what happens when you let vigilantes run riot and not the measured control of an officially backed fighting force such as Arachnos...but then an Arbiter would say that wouldn't they..."
  16. An Avatar slipped into the room, a tall female made up entirely of lines, resembling stylized figure from the vector games of a bygone age.

Her info merely refered to her as Elise, her age was 23 and that she came from the Eotile Isles.

She stood merely watching for a while.
  17. ((the two responses so far have recieved PMs through the forums, I am currently in talks with Ms Bathory but will have to see how Alpha and if I can grab a hold of old Headbreaker ingame.))
  18. Well as far as inspirations go...it's a pretty good choice.

I how I miss thee pimped out battle limo my mate had which drove us around in style.
  19. Of course to borrow a tabletop PnP name...wouldn't the Resistance also employe some form of 'Shadow runners'. People who they can trust to move through the shadows delivering messages in the old school fashion by hand.

Ooh and...I'll see both you and the faschist state burn resistance boys and girls...
  20. The way to a woman's heart you ask?

    SCIENCE!

As the old saying goes 'dazzle them with science'. Of course I don't mean that literally, blinding powder has been around since ancient times so your not inventing something new, you're just blinding a potential love interest which may be handy in the long run but isn't really the refined scientific approach.

If this person rejects your offers of love, using the above method of flowers, gifts and letter writing, why not build yourself a better version of them. Here at Necrotech industries we offer the Dream Partner program, a partner made specifically to your specifications.

Has that robotic heroine in Talos Island constantly turned you down, why not let us build a replica that will love you not matter whether you're hero or villain. Using the latest in genetic manipulation, voodoo, fast growth genetic tanks and a pinch of love we too can create your ideal woman or man. You may even want to consider our optional extras, perhaps you want them to have super powers or just an extra set of arms...

    Dream Partners by Necrotech.

Where money really can buy you love.
  21. Praetoria is terrifying because you give up your free will to be safe, as long as you keep quiet, don't ask questions and get on with your life, probably occasionally give Mother Mayhem a hug and tell her she's pretty, you get to live your life in peace.

Paragon City is terrifying because everyone has free will unfortunately this means the criminal element is also more abundant.

Praetoria is proactive in stopping crime but to a degree which steps on the boundaries of personal freedom.

Paragon City heroes are reactive in stopping crime but as such there are risk that they went be there in time when you get captured by the Circle of Thorns/Carnival of Shadows/Crey agent bent on experiments/Malta agents who like lobotimizing super powered people and putting their brains into giant mechanical titans who gain a particular love for the 'macross missile spam' trope.

    Taking a Break

It's always good to take a break, even if it's not strictly a 'break'.

Playing on the NA servers allowed me to recharge my batteries for the EU servers, play some new characters, make some new friends etc.

Hope, like Britannic, you do come back.
  24. ech...

It's not bad enough they tried to shoe-horn in meta-game things like Powerset Proliferation and Inventions into the game lore but reading that bio they actually shoe-horned in the Experience Bar and 'levelling up'.

Dear lord that info needs to be lost to the aeons of time and buried like all those cassettes of the E.T. game...
