Amy was busy dealing with her fans, she was use to the throng of publicity.

MEANWHILE....
"Ooh I can't believe I'm running so late," came a worried little electronic voice.
"So many people...I think the anti-grav should stop me being kicked around," there was motorized whirr followed by a dull whum noise as the owner of the little voice hovered to head height.
The owner of the little electronic voice was a walkie-talkie toaster. His casing custom painted in the American flag, a patriotic star painted around his single blue glowing eye sensor. Two anti-grav jets protruding from the side of his casing and a small red cape billowing in the air conditioning was fastened around him.
With him he carried a small bag, containing his document of citizenship to Paragon City, he always kept it close incase someone tried lay claim to the now free Walkie-talkie toaster. It also contained a small scrapbook of his 'exploits', nothing fanciful, a newspaper clipping of him recieving his citizenship and one of his first and so far only arrest of a purse snatcher.
"I hope I can get them all to sign my scrapbook!"
The little Walkie-talkie toaster hovered through the crowd slowly, being careful to avoid bumping in to people and made his way to the Unity Vigil stand. -
-
The little boy cheered as he shook 'Statesman's' hand and yelled, "Go get them Statesman!" as Brickhouse departed.
Amy talked to the parents and gave the kid one of everything on her stall all signed but the little boy was too happy with his photograph to really care.
Amy chuckled as she watched Brickhouse dash off, "who was that masked man?" she quietly said to herself with a grin.
She returned to her stall and settled back down to sign what remained of her stuff for the queue of fans that had built up. -
Amy lifted the car with ease, balancing most of the weight on one hand but lifting it slow enough that she gave Brickhouse the chance to look like he was lifting it as well. She took Brickhouse's hand in her free one to make it look like they were shaking hands, turned and smiled as the photograph was taken.
Setting the car gently back down with a clank.
She whispered to Brickhouse, "you did great...you know you do a really good Statesman impression...sound just like him...perhaps you should look into getting into the acting gig...alright now shake his hand and you're free to go, I promise..."
The boy looked up with unbridelled excitement at Brickhouse, a look of sheer happiness on his face. -
Quote:Would it star David Hasslehoff in an eyepatch...if so I'd totally be watching it...Ah, who am I kidding? It would be Kiken. And the film would be a non-stop martial arts extravaganza. With killer Nazi robots. And lots of action. And bizarre mutants. And lots of action. Oh, and evil corporations. And lots of action. And spooky magic. And did I mention lots of action?
As for my character, well my namesake is out because he's a villain so I'd probably have to go with Amy Zon, my 8ft tall super strong/invulnerable catgirl. Would be an animated film and would be about herself and a team of heroes being recruited to fight time travelling Nazi's back in Roman times (because the ITF would make for an epic film...it's got Superheroes, time travelling, Sword and Sorcery AND Nazi's...). -
Aye they announced that the EU servers were going down while my team and I were fighting Reichsman at 12:30 giving the usual 30 minutes warning.
Caused a moment of panic until we realised that we'd already beaten 3 of the 4 AVs and Reichsman was being pounded into the ground with ease.
Was funny everyone had prepared for a 2 hour TF and we ended up doing it in 44 minutes... -
Quote:Amy smiled a wide smile.
"Um... Hi. Can I help you?"
"Listen I know you're probably just wanting to get your comic books and get other heroes to sign your stuff but I need a hand..." she slapped a hand down in Brickhouse's shoulder probably a bit harder than she should have done.
"Look there's a kid that wants a photo of me and Statesman and I really don't want to let him down, he's been waiting for some time and since you look pretty much exactly like the man himself you're the best fit for the job..."
Unlike Brickhouse she didn't have any compunction about hauling people through crowds, she probably dragged him through the throng of people until they got back to the photobooth. Talking to him as she yanked him along.
"Just put on your best Statesman impression, you know the way he acts and talks, heck everyone does...so just do your best, you're about to make a little boy very happy..."
"Statesman! It's really him!"
The voice came from a small boy in a wheelchair.
"Yeah I had to make a few phonecalls but I finally got him..."
"Can I have that photo, the one with you and him lifting the truck in one hand and shaking hands with the other?"
Amy chuckled, "Sure thing..."
She looked to Brickhouse and whispered, "don't worry, I'll support the weight of the car in my hand, just do your best to look like you're holding it up...once you've smiled, had your photo taken, shaken his hand, you're free to make your excuse about 'being needed elsewhere' and then you can leave..."
She moved to one side of the pickup truck, "alright sir, get into position, I know this is going to be easy for you, so I'll try to hold up my end..." -
well the servers are about to go down...with any luck it'll be Going Rogue prepurchase time, I can have Dual Pistols and do a merry jig.
Finished a Khan TF with 25 minutes to spare. Managed to do the entire run in under 45 minutes...damn that team impressed me. -
Quote:Amy spotted Brickhouse, "HEY YOU, OVER HERE!""Um.. Yeah, good fun. Umm... You're gonna have to excuse me. I got um Comics and stuff to look at."
Brickhouse once again forced an uneasy smile and quickly pushed his way into the crowd hoping to do a quick circuit of the convention before making his escape from the convention in a manner as inconspicuous as possible.
She waved to him from behind the crowd of people at her stand, "Gregs...you mind taking over for a moment, you know...earn your cut of the paycheck by helping the guys and gals with their purchases..."
"ech..I'm your agent not a teller...but fine..." He took over taking money and bagging things.
Most of the 'con exclusive' toys had gone, she was down to her last couple of graphic novels to sign but someone very special had been waiting for a photograph and she wasn't going to disappoint this person...
Amy smiled widely, she had been looking for a decent Statesman lookalike and this guy could pass for Statesman with ease, he was perfect. -
The 8 foot hulking muscular catgirl Amy Zon sat at her stall...just another publicity opportunity according to her agent, Gerald Fontain...unlike most of the heroes here she was use to this. Having your own line of comic books, an animated series and your own line of merchandise kind of helped you get over the shock of meeting strangers if you'd been promoting it for so long. While she was part of the Unity Vigil she was a 'seperate entity' when it came to merchandising.
Her booth was laid out in a fairly professional manner. Arranged at the desk on her booth was a large pile of 'The Amazing Amy Zon adventure!: volume 1' graphic novel ready for her to sign on request. Stacks of a 'con exclusive' Amy zon action figure where behind her hanging on pegs, it was variant on her normal outfit with the colours of her regular switched around and chains looped around her chest and labelled, 'Capecon exclusive Praetorian Amy Zon'.
Just off to the right side of her booth was set up a pickup truck for showing off her strength during photo opportunities. The other side was dedicated to the Japanese show she starred in Mew Mew power where she played 'Catgirl of Strength' and was also a 'Capecon exclusive early release of Mew Mew Power season 4'.
Amy took a deep breath, today was going to be a long day... -
Well doesn't look like the pre-purchase thing has gone up in the store yet.
Curse you NcSoft! *shakes fist* -
Samuel take a look at the British film called Dog Soldiers.
The basic motion werewolf rig they use in that film is pretty similar, for higher detail shots they used animatronics but the werewolves in that film look amazing.
I would provide a link but it's considerably NSFW with all the swearing and gore, however the whole movie is available on youtube -
Actually when one of the booster packs was released there was a problem with the EU store where becauses hundreds of people were purchasing the pack it took so long to do an order something in the system fritzed up and it was doublecharging a lot of people.
Still NCsoft support just refunded the money with no problems and since that moment they've sorted out the store server. Yes there was such a demand for that booster pack we managed to caused the store server to implode...go us!
It did this to myself despite taking notice of the 'click once only' on the button and NOT clicking it multiple times (seriously it says it right underneath the buy button) I got charged twice for the booster pack. -
Oh congradulations!
It's a mighty fine trophy...and since Golaith Bird Spiders don't build webs, I imagine you've got a nice log to place it on and show it off.
It's nice to see the World Strongest Spider contest got over the drugs scandel of a few years back and is once again the top contest of Spider strength in the world. -
Quote:well it's better than a spider in a boob tube...it's just unnatural I tells you...*Flexes*
Although, are you sure you want to post naked pictures of me here? I mean, this is a T-rated game after all.
So how did you place in World Strongest Spider this year...last year I heard you placed second to Henrinch Von Stretchylegs from Bulgaria...did you manage to take home the trophy this year? -
See some spiders are so intelligent they can learn to type and participate in internet forums.
The picture is actually our Goliath Bird Eater on holiday, he was taking part in the Worlds Strongest Spider contest held on the Isle of mann every year and that was the judges measuring him up for his stat card, it appears on the 'web' every year... -
For first toons I'd definitely recommend Scrapper and the Regen primary.
It's the easiest to use of all the secondaries, it's a bit click heavy (since you focus on heals) but it has a power called 'quick recovery' available at level 4 which means that unlike most other secondaries you don't need to pick up swift/hurdle, health and finally stamina to make your endurance bar a little bit more manageable.
I would avoid Dark armor because it's a very complicated and endurance heavy set to play, been playing the game over three years now and still never got into it but that's a personal recommendation.
Any of the primaries are fine, some are AoE focused, some are single target focused.
CoH basically invented the 'scrapper' type DPS (we're a tropenamer in that regard over at TVtropes). Unlike almost all over MMOs where the melee DPS is usually a glass cannon, scrapper of all types are very survivable second only to tanks.
If you're coming from WoW Scrappers are like harder hitting Retribution specced Paladins or Fury specced Warriors, they can do easily enough DPS and have the surviability to tank everything except Archvillains (where a Tank, Brute or Mastermind with taunt comes into affect).
The community is MILES ahead of any MMO community I've come across, the vast majority of people ingame are willing to help answer questions about anything game related without any kind of sarcastic bite that usually comes with such response in games like WoW.
The forums can be a bit daunting and yes we do bicker but we're a lot friendlier place than most other game forums. -
Jay: No I wont do animated tails, I don't want to do anything that could be used by those....furries *spits*
BaB: I'll do it
Jay: I mean you....whaaaa?
BaB: I said I'll do it...heck I did power customisation during my spare time for over a year...I've been needing something to keep me busy so I'll do it.
Jay: But...you can't...costumes aren't your area...
BaB: Well since power customisation is a costume option I think I've already got my foot in the door and these tails wont animate themselves, think you'll find that's my area anyway..
Jay: but...
Positron: Right the job goes to Brawler, sorry Jay... -
Hmm EATs I'd much rather see.
Rikti there is already two sides within the Rikti faction. It also allows for the branching concept that the VEATs use, of course all would use teleport since it's pretty much the signature Rikti travel power. You can go Gun/chief soldier route which basically makes a mixture of ranged and melee attacks in the primary with a resist based secondary armour, Mentalist for Psi based control primary and blasting secondary or Magi for blasting primary and debuffs secondary.
PPD offers a range of choices when it comes to branching, you can remain a normal human officer and progress into SWAT ranks which would be the equivilent to a 'Huntsman' build in that you offer AoE ranged damage and debuffs (Web grenade, glue grenade, acid mortar, leadership powers etc.), you can be in a hardsuit which offers energy assault as a primary with the minigun and laser arm attacks added in and a resist based secondary which would be the equivilent to a Crab spider. The last option is Psi corp which would mirror the Fortunata VEAT choice.
We already have two things ingame which would make excellent EATs so why go for a ripoff of something that's not even part of the City of Heroes universe? -
I believe the term is Hyperbole Crazy Dragon...which this guy does seem to be full of.
Ok we're going the anecodatle evidence route are we?
Well almost everyone I've talked to agrees that it's a good thing, a few people don't like it but they are distinctly in the minority among the people I associate with ingame. Infact quite a large number of people are really looking forward to having a chance at creating a VEAT.
So my anecdotale evidence is a direct opposite of your anecdoatale evidence, which one of us is right?
The answer of course is NEITHER, we're both basing things on our circle of friends.
Infact if Champions Online has taught me anything, if this change was really as unpopular as you're making it out, there would be a firestorm on the forums in much the same way the Vibora bay 'pay for what is essentially an issue update here in CoH land' caused a massive uproar on their forums. It's distinctly quiet around here on the 'unlock at 20' issue isn't it? -
Seriously dude...let it go.
Sorry but lets look at WoW shall we with their first hero class (even the trailers for Wrath of the Lich king called them so), Death Knights.
Same sort of thing, you need to get to high level to unlock them...however you don't actually need to get to the level cap to unlock them, infact if I remember correctly you just have to get to level 60 to unlock them, with Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, that's 20 levels off level cap and let me tell you those last 20 levels take more time than 1-50 does in CoH unless you grind your backside off.
Yes Epic CAN mean something of great achievement but in this case, it doesn't it refers to an epic storyline in the same way 'The odyseey' is refered to as an epic story.
You know what I think is epic achievement, once Going Rogue is introduced, someone having all three 'master of' badges (Statesman, Recluse and Imperious taskforces) THAT is a freaking achievement heck even having two of those is an epic achievement.
Getting to 50 any schmuck can do, it's no more an achievement than getting to 20, it just takes longer...
As was mentioned above, seeing a Kheldian has NEVER been a 'moment of awe' for most people normally because they're usually;
A) Played badly by someone who powerlevelled to 50 just to get a Kheldian and has no freaking idea how to play them.
B) They bring with them additional mobs that are a gigantic pain in the backside, Shadow Cysts and thus most of the time the team would rather not take a Kheldian all the same thank you very much.
Sorry but Kheldians and SoA's/WoA's are about as epic as every other AT... -
Quote:Second this.I'll throw this out now: please let me be able to pre-order it through the PlayNC site. Don't do a deal with some US distributor that isn't valid outside of the US. It happens a lot - "Hey, we've done a deal with Best Buy, who aren't in your country. Enjoy!".
All the stuff for GR would essentially already be available 'in the game' but locked because you don't have the GR code applied to your account. WoW expansions work in this way, the base game is updated so changes affecting the world of Azeroth still affect people without expansions BUT they can't get access to any of the Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King zones or level past 60.
Please let the normal and collectors editions be available as a code to be applied to the account from the NCsoft store that when GR is finally released, instantly unlock all the GR content but provide all the bonuses that pre-ordering grants there and then. -
By the same measure if you're NOT into raiding. I use to be a hardcore raider (5 nights a week for four hours each night), then went casual raiding (2-3 nights a week for four hours) but eventually the repeatition got to me and it felt like a job rather than fun, we'd breeze through the early bosses and then get stuck on the same boss for about two weeks and then repeat for the next boss.
So when I gave up raiding there were four things to do.
1) Grind daily quests for gold.
2) Run the same heroic instances again and again.
3) PvP.
4) Make a new alt and run it through all the same content I did prior (unlike CoH where levelling is fairly quick, WoW levelling from 1-80 takes a damn age and there's nobody around to complete the instance based quests because every other bugger is high level and has since moved on from the 60/70 instances).
All the above are heavily repetative and eventually I just got so thoroughly bored of WoW. For some reason making alts in CoH is a lot more fun than making alts in WoW. -
Quote:Sorry but you're kind of in the minority on this front.
This is your opinion! I and others simply may have more ability than you. I can make more one than face! Should I be limited because you're unable to make more than one face?
I played Champions in Open Beta and the first month that came with box so I'm not just blowing smoke out my backside but THE most common complaints were the fact that players got a whole 'one face' and could tweak it.
The other complaint was mainly that the face fell face first (pun intended) into the uncanny valley of somehow just not looking right, I managed to tweak the sliders enough that they stopped looking like a 'living action figure' and more like a person. Oh and the arms and hands were FAR too big and needed tweaking from the initial one (usually arm shortenened and hand reduced in size) otherwise you looked like a human/gorilla crossbreed.
CO had a LOT of tech based options and...well that was pretty much it, so sure it had more options than CoH but your actual options if you wanted to make a tights wearing spandex superhero were actually WORSE than CoH (the number for patterns on tights was positively tiny). They had better tech options and they had better animal options but for general superheroics the options were very slim.
As Sam mentioned above the 'tops with skin' option for women were either skimpy bra or tank top with variations on those two, whereas CoH has a much larger option for Tops with Skin for BOTH genders (the problem wasn't just for females).
So you're both sort of right. There are more options but only in very specific areas (namely if you wanted to be tech based).
