  1. erm...to be fair if you're not even getting your own proper boxed copies of the game with server languages designed for you...they're probably not considering you a market. They barely bother with the EU market as it is, so a region where they saw their one attempt to crack sink like a lead balloon...they're grateful you've got the game but you're obviously buying US editions aren't you? Or is there a specific edition in your language DKellis?

hmm 3...would rather 4, she does take more than double the time it takes to defeat a standard GM like Deathsurge or Jurrasik but double the reward is sufficent.

This to be fair...although I'm 'complaining' about PvE mixed with the PvP the truth of the matter is that on the EU side...you're going to have little to no resistance getting the shivans/nukes unless it's prime time on a saturday...and even then it may only be the nukes, on the EU servers PvP is deader than a dead thing who died several thousand years ago.
  5. See I claim that the EU marketting guy has to be a Budgie...a poor, starved, undernourished Budgie that wants to peck out a message for us even if it's only "help need more seed cant go to shops only one left emergency"* but can't because it's too sickly and tired.

*yes he's too ill to think about puncuation.

PvEers feel entitled for that flavor as well but some of them ***** and moan about the meal.
See if someone had said that back when I asked the question instead of a one line answer of 'we use the arena's for that' no other explanation given nor any comparrisons!

What, I'm not freaking psychic, I can't guess what they guy meant from his one line answer. Notice how I never complained about the RV PvP mechanics, because I KNOW that RV is basically 'domination mode' style PvP that is common to FPS games, it makes sense, I did complain about the overpowered AVs/Heroes being the only way to get badges as they're a decidedly PvE mechanic.

However the Bloody bay PvP game make little to no sense, I could understand if it was along the lines of 'capture the enemy intelligence' 'defend and hold' 'payload delivery' or the like but they're not, they're about clicking on things and then defeating a NPC guarded gun emplacement.

Warburg is 'sort of' a style of 'capture the flag' but I'd much rather prefer they strip the scientists being surrounded by freaking massive mobs of Arachnoids, seriously, why are the mobs there so bloody big?

I honestly don't mind your standard PvP mechanics, WoW does them really well with Battlegrounds or the Siege event every three hours.

Actually I think that's probably the problem with the PvP zones, in most other games the PvP zones are instanced for groups of opposing players like the WoW Battlegrounds, heck Alterac valley is 'kill the enemy generals' PvE mechanic but it works because it's GEARED towards PvP, it's the old 'defend the VIP' scenario. The only time you go into a PvP battleground is when you're good and ready to PvP or when the Siege comes in does the zone actually 'gear up' and begin to be about the event.

Here, however, the zones are always open persistant zones...I'm not sure if that's a clever Idea (low numbers of PvPers would mean either completely one sided or empty instances spawned for one or two people at time) or a bad one at the moment (problems we're seeing now).

Apart from RV none of the other events are really geared towards natural PvP interaction in the same kind of way in my opinion.

Also I use to PvP, heck I even took part in the recent RPPvP event that was run on Union.

Besides thanks to a wonky sleeping schedule it means I can just go into the zones at 4am and grab the shivans/nukes then...
  7. And the marketting guy that's finally showed up is dodging any questions with regards the EU...well it does make sense since he's the NA marketting guy but still...

This, as fun as it is, the EU community are...worried at the moment, despite assurances from War Witch about the state of the game EUside, be nice to have the EU marketting budgie (despite people saying it's a dog, dog's can't type with those paws, a budgie can peck at individual keys) actually say something.

Especially since marketting is the ONLY thing left EU side since the Brighton offices were gutted.

    2) Hurt PvP? "No new players are coming to PvP zones, because there isn't even the slightest incentive."

    3) Have no effect on PvP? "The hardcore PvPers will always play, and no one else will ever join, regardless, so PvP can't be affected by this."

    And a follow up question:

    - Should the Devs provide any kind of incentive for Non-PVPers to try PvP out, even if it isn't badges?
You know I mentioned pretty much the exact same thing waaaayy back in the thread.

The only reply I got when I said about stripping out PvE mechanics from the PvP zone was that there and turning the PvP zones into a pure PvP experience was 'we use the arena for that'. In other words PvPers don't WANT the PvE mechanics stripped out of the zone because it provides a lure and the occasional bit of drama when a PvEr wanders in to get the badges.

Now the following things would be PvP and as such remain:
    1) PvP side missions (they have an overall affect on the zone).

    2) The 'capture the point' game of Heavies and turrets in RV.

    3) Exploration badges would be left in of course.

The following things would be stripped out of the PvP zones:
    1) RV heroes/villains and associated badges (now any defeat of the specific heroes/villains awards the badge, however the villain defeat badges are only available to heroes since villain PCs can fight their patrons/Recluse but this wouldn't unlock the badges).

    2) Shivans and Nukes (Shivans would be reduced to a 'Boss' classed ally and the nuke buffs/debuffs would be cut in half but both would be rewarded through a repeatable PvE mechanic).

    3) NPCs would be stripped down to a vastly reduced presence, to counter the annoyance that certain enemies only appear in PvP zones, Tsoo Blue Ink men would now turn up heroside amongsts normal spawns of Tsoo for their level range and Warriors would now turn up villainside in paper missions for their level range.

Now I can probably feel there's a large number of PvPers who are quite glad I'm not in charge of dealing with PvP in this game as many would probably cry 'ruined forever...again...' after the changes but this is just how I'd deal with it.
  11. Edward shook his head.

"For her, nothing, just as I charged her old friend Sprunk nothing...just take good care of her...now I must depart...there is other business to attend to..."

Edward returned to the labs and Project Chimera...
  12. Alicia was wheeled into the operating table beside her new clone body, Edward nodded to the gathered team of surgeons and the operation began.

    Eight Hours Later
Edward dabbed the sweat from his brow as Alicia was wheeled into a private ward, being lifted into the bed and hooked up to all the required machinery, she'd come round soon enough, the operation had been a success and the nanites had successful attached the brain to the new body, healed all the surgical wounds and finished the last round of modification.

However she would experience something the good doctor liked to call 'Nanofever' where the heat given off of the millions of hardworking atom sized machines would raise the patients blood temperature and cause them to feel feverish...it would pass soon enough though.

Dressing out of his surgical scrubs and heading into the waiting room.

"It's finished Father Pious, please she can't take visitor at the moment, give it an hour or so when she'll be fully recovered...she should be out within another four hours once I've done all the tests to make sure everything went well and the nanites have deactivated themselves. Don't worry the nanites will be naturally flushed out of the bloodstream."
  13. Edward nods his head, leading them both into a prep-room, "I bought in my head of section for this...this is Doctor Andrea Namel..." gesturing to a petite woman with green eyes, little else could be told about her due to being dressed from head to toe in surgeons grab.

The woman nodded politely and went about inspecting the equipment, checking it over, occasionally dipping it quickly in a bath of the same semi-transparent grey goo to let the nanites quickly strip any possible bacteria from them.

"She's a highly skilled surgeon and an expert with nanotechnology...I will be accompanying and overseeing the operation...I'm going to have to ask you to leave the room Father Michael while I go make sure that the operating area is completely sterile and get dressed in the correct clothing..."

Edward turned to leave before turning back, "there is a private waiting room with a television, a sofa if you require sleep along with tea and coffee making facilities, one of my assistants will guide you to it Father Michael..."

He motioned to Alicia, "now, just lay down here, unfortunately anasthetic doesn't affect the Undead, still, I assume you can do as most of them and enter a suspended state of death while we operate...if not, then I shall just have to settle for the old method and knock you unconscious with a mallet of some kind, I do not usually operate on traditional vampires"

Edward nodded to Andrea, "if you continue to make sure our patient is comfortable I will go get ready..."

Edward exited the room to get changed, getting into his sterile scrubs, sterilizing his arms and hands and awaiting in the operation room as the clone body was bought in. Giving it the once over to make sure everything was fine he motioned through the glass window seperating the two areas for Alicia to be bought in.

The operation was about to begin...
  14. WARNING, SPOILERS!

Alright we've now got ingame an enemy NPC that not only copies your characters costume BUT can provide an alternate mirror of that characters costume (as the 'evil clone' of you does in the heroside arcs, for example my character has black belly tee, black pants with a red stripe, the evil version had red belly tee with red pants with a black stripe).

Perhaps Illusion Control could have added to it the much wanted 'doppleganger illusion' theme?

So for Illusion control you would have:
    Original (non-tintable)
    Colourable (what we have now)
Mirror you (replaces the Illusions, Phantasm and Decoy Phantasm with the new NPC Doppleganger)
Evil Mirror you (same but with the evil mirror version costume).

That's if this is at all possible...it's merely a suggestion, a whimzy if you will.

I would like to see thugs MMs get the option for an entire gang made of your character but the big problem with MM henchmen is that they have three variations for each type (basic, first upgrade, second upgrade) where as Illusion control doesn't have that problem.

Of course that's if this is even remotely possible, something of a whimsical suggestion if you will.

Either way, add aura wings, please
Hmm the tech is sort of there for the disappearing ones, as far as I know combat auras only happen when 'combat stance' is assumed (i.e. activating an attacking power). So IF (got no idea how these things work in the regards to the game engine...) you could tag the aura-only wings as an 'on activation of fly stance X aura activates' and 'on deactivation of fly stance X aura deactivates' could get it to work.

That's IF the combat aura's work like that though, as I said, got no idea if that's the case.
  16. Loved it, especially the flyby switchover, very well done.

And I noticed Plasma warrior's character from the Off the Cape radio broadcasts!
  17. Edward smiled, "of course not, she's all ready and waiting for the procedure with the modifications you asked for..."

He looked to Pious, "rest assured that while I AM a villain, I do not screw over my customers...that would be bad business practices and bad publicity doesn't make people want to use my services..."

The genetic copy was suspended in a semi-translucent grey goo, if one had microscopic eyesight they could see that it was a mixture of water and nanobots, busy working away to put the finishing touches down.

"Eight hours is also the fastest I can do this kind of operation , I can go faster but the risks of something going wrong get higher and higher the shorter the time spent"

Heh on the Union server Galaxy City is regularly used by RPers...so he's not exactly lonely, infact most people I know start in Galaxy instead of Atlas (avoids broadcast spam etc.)

So HAH! on you thinking Galaxy City never gets used
  19. Edward smiled as he greeted Alicia, "ah Ms Barzini, welcome to Necrotech toasty dreams factory and private hospital...now as you are aware all the arrangements had already been made, now for a few hours your brain will be disconnected from your body, do not worry, keeping a brain alive outside of the body is childsplay for one such as myself..."

Edward ushered her and the Priest through the factory/hospital, passing by genetic fast growth tanks amongst other things.

"Normally I'd just send in the nanites to repair your body but unfortunately your particular case of undeath doesn't really allow for the whole schebang as it were...and you requested additional powers.."

Finally going through into Edward's lush office where he sat down in his large office chair, the Shivan, Steve, standing beside him.

"Now there's just a matter of signing a contract and we are all ready to go...in eight hours you will be a new you..."

    Cut scene spam

The funniest thing I've seen with regards cutscenes was a /traps defender on a LRSF being inside the Lord Recluse speech cutscene, paused just after he'd set up a mine, so he was doing the kneeling down pose while Lord Recluse stood ontop of his mine while preaching how foolish WE were.

Erm...look down mate...might want to see what's going on at your feet.

Also had my neon pink forcefield pet bubble as my own Traps defender highly visable in the background of the Rommy to nictus cutscene...somewhat killed the epiciness with this hot pink bubble glowing away in the background.

    Hello I'm new!

    Scrapper primaries:

Dual Blades: Uses the combo system, doesn't hit hard but hits fast, each successful hit does a minor debuff which increased your chance to hit your foe..

Katana: Hits harder and slower than dual blades but not as hard or as slow as the other sword based powerset, same secondary effect as Dual Blades.

Broadsword: Hits very slowly (powers take a while to recharge), is quite an endurance hog but hits VERY hard, has the same secondary effect as Dual Blades.

Dark Melee: The 'utility' primary, hits reasonable well but has powers like fear and a heal, secondary effect decreases the chance for enemies to hit you.

Spines: an Area of Effect/Ranged focused set, all but two of it's attacks effect more than one foe, endurance heavy and slow recharge but has a great deal of secondary effects.

Martial Arts: low on damage but quick on attacks and medium on endurance usage.

Fire melee: Pure damage focused, secondary effect is a chance for damage over time, good mix of single target and Area of effect powers.

Electric melee: Much like spines and Fire is highly Area of effect focused, secondary effect drains endurance from your enemies.

Claws: the lightest hitting set of all the scrapper choices however it is also lightning quick with attacks, same secondary effect as the sword based ones.

Hope this gives you some helpful pointers !
  23. open up the 'run' box from the windows menu and type in

    ipconfig /flushdns

These seems to clear it up for me when it hangs, hope that's some help!
  24. It's why I'm looking forward to the attack on Dr Mechano's factory/Hospital.

Up until now Humanity First have only really gone up against heroes or the slightly less villainous of villains (Big Lunk et al were more mercenaries and not mad scientist who are more than willing to smash someones face in if they upset him).

When they do attack the factory they're in for a nasty shock when Mechano is quite at home smashing in faces with Foehammer (his Sledgehammer) or ripping out peoples throats with his cybernetics...not to mention unleashing his secret project in the first battlefield test...dun dun duuuuunn.

As mentioned, Metahuman hate is irrational and when directed at the wrong people, downright crazy...but then most hate groups aren't very sane in the first place either.
  25. ((Bah completely missed this! Mental note to self, keep an eye on things! Also nice work on the naming of the bots, I shall provide a little more background myself for them in a moment, feel free to place them wherever you need them for dramatic purposes.))

Passing by Catwalk was the Doc himself, dressed in a lap coat with the arms cut away, exposing one fully cybernetic arm on one side and a cybernetic hand on the other, he moved like any old man did, with a slight shuffle. However this was merely a diguise, he was still a powerful man.

Beside him followed his Shivan bodyguard who, whilst in the factory, never seemed to leave his side, from what Catwalk could make out the two were having a dicussion, it was like listening to a phonecall, only one side of it could be understood, the other was a mix of growls, gurgles and gargles that Edward seemed to understand perfectly.

"Hmm time to check the bots, the last thing I want is any of them malfunctioning...good thing these ones are particularly adverse to tampering...though I cannot say the same about the more mundane ones..."

Unlike most of the other guardbots the named guardbots were tailored to the personalities he had named them after, BG-LNK, ECH-0 and SM1-LR were large assault bots, tailored to close combat with energy generating gauntlets and more heavily armoured than normal.

PRF-TRRR and HL10S were Support drones outfitted with whatever R&D had come up with recently, PRF-TRRR was equipped with a a strange glowing weapon that seemed to continually heat and cool plasma, HL10S was equipped with dual gatling lasers instead of an additional manipulator claw and a stronger forcefield generator.

T0N-E may have been small but he seemed to be packing more firepower than the rest of them, all standard issue but on the tiny frame was fitted two gatling lasers with underslung flamethrowers on each arm, shoulder mounted single shot rocket launchers and a loud vocal speak which occasionally played 'The lion sleeps tonight' by Tight Fit seemingly at complete random intervals.

With his checks complete he smiled and nodded, "Morning Mike, Morning Cathy...nice day isn't it?"

Before they could answer he continued, "Anyway just like to say that I'm liking the work your team is producing Mike, some of the best to come out of R&D in the last couple of years, so you're being awarded team of the month and getting your pay increased, keep up the good work...just don't let Dave try and convince you to test the black hole gun he's working on...the last time that thing fired up it took out all the undergraduate students he had working for him...not to mention everything else in the room."

With a smile and nod he continued his walk, the Shivan looming over Cathy for a moment, cybernetics whirring as it seemed to be looking her over, before moving with powerful strides after the Doctor, as he walked off a small snippet could be heard.

"Tell Jonathon he's off project Chimera, Cathy and Mike are on that project now, I want my best team working on it..."

((will PM you with the details of Project Chimera))
