Welcome to the forums by the way Ceberous, you're not a noob you're a newbie, there's a difference between the two.

Newbie: New to the game and/or forums.

Noob: Someone whose played the game for quite some time and acts like they know everything but actually knows very little.

    You sir are a newbie.

Don't worry just PM a moderator and they'll shift the topic over to the suggestions forum for you.
  2. yeah...please make the civilians a bit shorter...would be nice.
  3. To be fair I've often done a "Hmm...shall we make this a master attempt...if it goes badly, then no biggie, we've got the muscle to pull us through, this is just on the offchance..." when leading teams, asking the team first (once full) if they all agree then sure we go for it, if not, it's a normal run.

Several times I've wished I'd remembered to do that, both times through the Khan TF I've had nobody die...and we roflpwned everything in there...
  4. Oh no...Carp...

For people that don't know Carp are probably the most dangerous river dwelling animals in Dwarf fortress...they can drown and kill dwarves very easily.

Why do I feel the Carp is going to be an Elite Boss.

I will be sure to play this when I get the chance and get back to you , anything for a fellow Dwarf Fortress fan...after all..it's fun to lose!
  5. Hmm I may have to play this...a couple of question first.

Does the player have to deal with a Catsplosion?

Do said cats catch on fire then make a beeline for you wooden stock pile, thus turning the fortress into a flaming ball of death and destruction?

Do, at any point, the Dwarves use a drawbridge as a kind of medieval atom smasher which blinks things out of existence?

At any point do I have to deal with a magma pump failing and the entire place filling with magma?

All the above HAS happened to a friend playing Dwarf Fortress. I suggest people look up the term Catsplosion.
  6. Does anyone else notice the 'Show off' emote is the Scouts normal baseball bat taunt animation from Team Fortress 2.

Look at the baseball bat taunts

Now whenever someone uses /e showoff all I'll be able to hear is "hey not such a tough now are ya? ARE YA?" in that accent.
  7. While I agree, throwing in the tail was probably a bit of a cynical marketting stunt (normally a pack sells like hotcakes no matter whats in it), the Mutant pack had certain expectations put on it by people, I admit, I was one of them so when released it was greeted with quite a lot of 'oh...that it?' reponses and general 'meh' from people as well. So the Mutant booster didn't look like it had the near universal acceptance. Now they've added a tail that people want, it'll sell like hotcakes like the rest of the packs.

Look at it this way, the meat and potatos of the pack is the two costumes, the Tail is thrown in for free with the pack.

I WILL buy a pack if it has one thing in it I can use, Martial Arts for the Ninja run was a good example, I barely use the rest of the pack but I use that temp power like nobodies business, to the point where I have a few characters who are pure Ninja run travel power only. Cyborg I bought for the Arms, because I have a character who needed a decent tech upgrade, Science for the Cosmetic Surgeon. Magic was the only one I bought and have used almost all the parts from it.

Now that Wolf tail, I've got a number of concepts I can probably use that for, since there's now something in the pack that I actually want, I'm going to buy it. I'm was disappointed with it, now I don't mind blowing a £6 on it to get the tail, since I'll get the self buff temp power out of the deal and a set of wings which I can ponder using on something or other.

This probably would have ended up in a 'Beast Pack' or require Going Rogue required to buy anyway, it's doubtful it would have ever ended up being free.

I was disappointed not to see it in the pack, as I wanted it NOW!

I would of payed 10 bucks just for that. Out of the Cyborg pack, all I ever use is the belt.

The new suits are nice, I don't think there's any denying that.

But I think alot of people are a bit miffed at it, is likely because, really, that's what I think people are expecting to see when the mutant booster comes out...a lot more demons.

Still, when it comes out, I'll be buying it. The pieces look great! Already plan on using the Organic Armor Top and Bottom (still hoping the Devs make a less scaley version of it before it goes live), as just a hero suit Now if I can only get a fox tail to go with it >_> *waits patiently*
*coughs* Ask and ye shall recieve BrandX

  10. Edward grins and gives a whistle, Mr Fluffers descending from his tree.

"Giant Spider like my friend here?"

He gently patted a leg, "look from the sounds of it we're got an army on the way...now the big creatures I can handle, I've hunted tougher game than what these 'Thunder beasts' sound like and brought it down...what are these creatures you speak of?"

He cracked his knuckles with a grin, "still more fighting is always good..."
  11. Oh for fu....

Damn it...I was convinced that I wouldn't buy this pack and save myself some money...now you do this...now I have to buy the pack, curse you for being so damn awesome David, curse you and all your awesome kind! *shakes fist villain stylee*
  12. Hmm alright, I may have overreacted to David's comments but it felt, at the time, less like Devil's advocate and more like them coming up with reasons that a Beast superbooster wouldn't be made. Perhaps I misjudged what he was saying.

I'm with you there Mad_Cow, I hope there is an additional X factor that spices up the pack (for me anyway, if you want to buy it then I'm not going to complain that you got something you want, more power to you) but unfortunately it looks like what we've seen is what we're getting. It'd be a nice surprise if there was something extra though.

Looks like we're just going to have to hope and wait for a beast booster pack.

And I said the science pack had that option, I was thinking maybe there was some other option they might give us yet in the tester server and that isn't a costume piece, emote, temporary power.
Then you're holding out for a lot more hope than I have personally, as far as we can tell, what we've seen so far, minus the tails and weapons, is what we're getting for the booster. The booster packs all follow a set 'thing' costume sets/with weapons, costume change emotes, normal emotes and a temp power. It's a set pattern and been true for all the superboosters so far.

The Science booster recieved no temp power because it's 'temp power' was the ability to access the cosmetic surgeon and change gender, the mutant booster HAS a temp power so there's nothing additional.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, we aren't getting the mutant booster that me and many others expecting and judging from Davids comments, we probably wont be for a long while yet since they seem quite adverse to actually making any kind of anthropomorphic beast parts for whatever reason that is...
  14. That's both disturbing and EXACTLY what I was looking for with reguard monstrous appearance...doesn't just have to be the face!

Demon heritage or getting powers through being demonic would Etrigan ("gone, gone the form of man, rise the demon Etrigan!") and artifact that gives you power would be Green Lantern.

Actually the ability to change gender was the SuperScience! Boosters equivilent of a temp power (notice it's the only superbooster pack which doesn't have one...the wedding pack isn't called Superbooster so that doesn't count).

I've made it pretty well know I'm in the same boat as Sam and that the 'Mutant' booster pack is a big enough of a let down that I'm just not going to buy it, you're idea for a Monstrous booster pack is definitely something I can get behind though but as other have mentioned, go all out for it!

Monstrous doesn't just mean animals, it's anything well..monstrous...which gives it a wide range.

Make it the biggest baddest of the booster packs yet, screw 'one or two themed costumes' make it 'a massive bucket of parts' type booster which can be mixed and matched to create wonderfully horrible monsters.
  17. Actually I wouldn't mind seeing the numbers on the sales of the new booster pack once it comes out. I honestly think it'll be the lowest selling of the booster packs (I don't include the wedding one since it's not a booster pack just a costume pack). If they don't sell then it probably will send a message that they flubbed it on the player expectations who wanted something different, if it does sell then it shows they can produce anything and most people wont care. That probably sounds a lot harsher than I mean it to be, I honestly don't mean it in an Activision CoD2 map-pack kind of way (£10 for FIVE maps...you can take your map packs and shove them elsewhere...even if I know the general CoD2 playing public will snap them up...).

Everyone I talked to ingame was psyched about getting animal parts or even the possiblity of Cimerora Cyclops/Minotaur style parts or Soul Calibur Knightmare style massive mutated arm etc. and...as Sam puts it...we got more of the same, one set that looks more demonic than mutant and one that covers reptiles/shark mutations but little else. Quite a few people were turned off with what was produced and have decided not to buy it now.

I have a mildly crazy Conspiracy theorist side of me that says the devs honestly don't want to do animal/monstrous parts for whatever reason (Jay can't do animal costumes very well, they don't want to have a booster pack seen as 'the furry pack' whatever it is).

David was saying stuff along the lines of "we'll look into it after Going Rogue but is it something that the playerbase really wants?" which to me gives the vibe of "Eh...we'd rather not do it if we can get away with it and saying the players don't want it is a handy excuse" but that's just me being a crazy person...

Oh and MLEdelen while the costumes themselves aren't all that impressive the tech is, it's finally a sign of glowmapping on costumes, admittedly it's not that impressive when you realise it's a side-product of the Resistance costumes for Going Rogue but it shows that they can be done for players and not just NPCs.
  18. I think the reason lots of people were expecting Animal parts is because it's the one area left that CO outstripped CoH, everything else is in CoH's favor, so it made sense to kind of cover up the weakspot that CoH has.

Meh anyway...I'm the reverse of you, if the mutation booster had animal parts I'd buy it but because it doesn't I'm not going to, I'm just not that impressed with it and feel it covers niches already filled.
  19. Thankfully dear Rabbit I have both an EU and US account, which means I can get access to US test.

EU test is currently being used for Going Rogue Closed beta...or so many people reckon.

From the outside, it feels like there is strong artistic resistance within the costume department, like there are themes that they love to work on vs. themes based on personal tastes that they all but refuse to work on. (i.e. if Sexy Jay for example really hates anthropomorphic animal characters and has decided "I'm not doing a furry set. No way.") I say this based on having witnessed heel dragging first hand in creative teams for both television and publishing. The results I witnessed in those arenas echo this growing pattern of sameness amongst costume option releases.

If there really is that much resistance to produce anything other than the same techy looking layered armors and demonic bits, then someone needs to get in there and either provide some tough love and art direction, steering the team into the areas that really are needing OR if the creative culture at Paragon is much looser and management doesn't want to stifle, then someone new needs to be hired--even if just on contract--who has a strong affinity for these other areas.

So with this set lacking the long requested (and teased at by Positron) animal parts, the clock resets for all of us who have been pining for: thongs and feathered tribal sets, more generic silver or golden age patterns including face masks in the glasses detail section, bushy tails, stubby tails, animal heads, new monstrous heads, bird sets, amphibian and aquatic sets, bubble helmets, gorilla heads, a good geomorphic set, a revisit to the plant based set, proper vines wrapping around limbs, and a litany of rigid back details from tech backpacks to dinosaur plates to geomorphic chunks to weaponry to jet packs to glider wings. And that is really what disappoints. Because those of us--who have been hoping and waiting patiently for YEARS for this range of items which are clearly missing (sometimes entirely) from our costume options--need to start waiting yet again for another 6, 12 or 18 months to hope that one or two of these themes might finally be touched in the 1 or 2 sets and details we get with updates and/or the odd booster.

And though GG strikes me as a sweet person the apologism here only stings. *sigh*

Seriously, it's the first 'meh' booster pack for me personally.

If they meant new faces...say new faces NOT new heads...sorry but saying new heads does kind of bring to mind a proper monstrous style replacement head, could definitely be poor wording on their part.

New tails...well...we're still waiting on those so...can't say either way...though I get the feeling that it'll probably be something sharkish/snakeish to match the Bioluminesence set or we're simply not getting them.

Well there's the old saying, you can't please everyone all the time and I suppose there has to be a first time for a booster pack to go into the 'eh, can do without' for me. Those that enjoy it, more power to you but I think I'll pass.
  21. Unfortunately I do agree with another forum users assesment.

Overall the Bio Organic set...doesn't look very 'mutanty' IMO (Demonic oh hells yes..but not mutant), the Bioluminesence set however could be used for a reptillian/Shark person...but if that's everything we get and the announcement about new tails and new heads was incorrect...then...eh..be the first booster pack that slips into the 'meh' category for me. The other sets either had nice costume pieces (Cyborg, Magic) or really useful temp powers/effects (Martial Arts, SuperScience!).

I can see the secondary mutation being useful at low levels but...not sure if it's worth the £6 outlay just for that, though I can feel my inner collector going "BUY IT! MUST HAVE ALL OPTIONS!" it's the first time I've had the willpower to fight said inner voice. The costume change emotes are kinda cool...but I rarely use the ones I have at the moment.

Overall, without the added tails and new monsterous heads, it currently scores a 5/10 on the Mechano Meter. Magic and Cyborg ranked a 8/10, Martial Arts and SuperScience! ranked a 7/10, the wedding pack is a 5/10 as well but then I actually use some of the female costume options quite a bit and we didn't know whether that was the one and only superbooster at the time.

There seems to be a bug at the moment that causes the new tails and new heads to not show up sadly (new tails and heads were confirmed in the announcement on the training room)
  23. I will point out that those pictures aren't too great, neither one shows off the 'glow' abiltiy both costumes have and were quickly done.
  24. RANDOM PICS AHOY!

Yeah they're not great...I think the devs stole Ideas from Samuel_Tow's succubus picture...

Bioluminesence....yes those parts do glow but they look good without it.
