  1. Was in Wizard I saw the one comic which...I think...may have not even made it to publish or the bugger was of such a limited run it is a collectors item (as one Comic store owner told me).

Was as comic called Hench about the life and times of a professional Henchman for a variety of villains.

Been in multiple comic stores and told either:
    A) Never heard of it.

    B) Limited run.

    C) Never made it to the UK.

    DBZ Abridged #20

While in another thread I mentioned the Doom doors soundeffect.

    This one...

    DOOM MUSIC!
  3. While everyone here has a valid reason for Handclap.

Admit it, how many times have you actually seen it used ingame or seen it suggested that people take it in any of the powerset guides?

So yes it does come under the heading of least used power, just because there is a use for it does not mean that it actually gets used.
  4. The Handclap and clones would be right up there as well.

Considering they're on melee characters, characters who have things like Auras which actually give benefits to having large groups of people in melee range (Invincibility, Against all odds etc.) OR have a damage aura (Static field, Blazing Aura etc.) having an attack which does Knockback really doesn't mesh well with actual mechanics of the ATs using them.

The Bruiser MM version got changed to a Knockdown so why not do it for all the rest. In my 4+ years playing I honestly don't think I've seen someone take Handclap or one of the clones, actually rarely, they're used as a set mule for purples (Lightning clap has access to the 2nd cheapest purple set of all, Stun, only the Sleep purple set is cheaper).

(And before you suggest it, my s.o already suggested the bunny tail, but it's way to fluffy to pass as a bear tail.)

    2. Are long skirts to difficult to create and introduce into the character creation? The exact type would be a-line, ankle/floor length with a thigh/knee high slit up the side.
It would take me to so many new character creation places, if I could have a fancy dress skirt.

Bonus Question: Can we have more laser sight coloring options on our guns? I keep using the same set, as they are the only set that can have a dark barrel and a color (selection by me) laser.

I absolutely loves this game and it's multitude of creative possibilities. Thank you! :-)
    1) Possible and who knows what is in the forthcoming Animal booster pack.

2)Long Skirts are easy to create (heck the Tsoo have Robes) BUT (and it's a big one) the way the game does skirts at the moment (they're stuck to the side of the legs, not an object on their own) floor length skirts would look horrible with something like Martial arts since the middle fabric would stretch in an unsightly manner.

However there have been possible hints that we might be seeing them soon...but I wouldn't hold your breath on it until Noble Savage confirms it himself (rather than deciphering the ramblings of Jay).

Bonus Question: Basically the way the system works is that you can either have a gun that can be coloured OR a colourable laser sight..unfortunately you can't have both.
  6. Perhaps a suitably cheesy 80's cartoon catchphrase like "Mechanosaurs MECHANIZE!" or something like that to go with the 80's cartoon intro?
  7. Dr_Mechano

    Union Down?

It'll be back up within 10 or so minutes.
  8. The problem with that is that...while yes the asset is within the game...it required a truly massive amount of work.

Alright so you've got the classic Medusa look thing going on. Now how are you going to use Martial Arts with that...how does it look when you Fly/Hover...how does it look when you use Eviscerate...

Basically they would need to tweak an untold number of animations in order to actually get the snake lower half to work.
  9. I think the problem always stems from Christopher Reeves.

He was just so damn good as Superman that unfortunately every other actor is going to have to live up to him, some have been good at playing Superman, others good at playing Clark Kent but apart from Reeves no actor has ever perfectly nailed them both.
  10. Yeah the Police Drones radio call is basically THE 'background police radio noise', I've heard it in any game involving cops and in just about every American Cop show going.

Weird one I heard was I swear I've heard the 'doom doors' noise on so many programs.

Edit: was searching while posting but apparently the noise the doors made in Doom actually has its own trope page...and is now an incredibly common sound effect.
  11. Did anyone else see the costume and names and think "80's Saturday morning kids Cartoon"?

It's like they're fans of this long lost cartoon that only had 13 episodes during the mid-80's (which actually...was a lot of them, Visionaries (knights of the magical light!) only had 13 or so Episodes).

I can totally picture those characters fighting off an evil robot dinosaur overlord while saying things like 'Radical' and 'Gnarly'.

Now all they need is a catchphrase.
  12. Wow just taken a look at what is needed to craft a 'very rare'.

Now the Rare...not that hard to get infact I can get it once I've done whatever Weekly Target taskforce it is but the Very Rare is quite a major step up, which is understandable.

Even if you COULD make a Notice of the Well single player you're looking at a truly massive amount of Shards to make the Very Rare. Just converting a Notice of the Well into a Favour of the well takes 32 shards.

So lets look at the numbers, lets say that the Notice of Well is available Solo but since it's a Rare piece of salvage I'm going to allot it 16 Incarnate shards (fits in with the 4 for common, 8 for uncommon and 32 for very rare).

You will need to make 1 Common enhancement:
    12 Shards.

To upgrade that to an Uncommon enhancement:
    20 Shards.

To upgrade that to a Rare enhancement.
    36 Shards.

To upgrade that to a Very Rare enhancement.
112 Shards (Since the Very rare takes 1 Common, 1 Uncommon and 1 Favour of the Well salvagewise plus you've got to make a second Rare enhancement).

In total it's going to cost you 180 Shards to go from nothing all the way to Very rare on Shards alone.

Considering the drop rate on Shards solo is probably something in the region of 4 every 2 hours you're looking at 45 hours of nothing but grinding for Shards and that's if the RNG is in your favour that day, probably closer to 60 hours or more.

This is if my figures are correct, if not...well you're looking at a lot longer.

    Edit:

Has anyone noticed that all the Very Rare enhancements all require both a Common and an Uncommon from the same Taskforce, (in the picture above the Spiritual Radial Paragon requires the LGTF Common and the LGTF Uncommon upgrade, on test I noticed that the Damage one requires the same but the STF/LRSF salvage instead).
  13. Yeah just went and got it myself since the ferry changes.

Alright I take back my complaint.

It isn't hard to get to as I remembered it.

    Damn you streamlining!
  14. Something has recently irked me.

There is a rather large disparity in the NPC locations for the Halloween salvage hand in.

Hero: Right by the train station, now with linked trains, low levels can easily get to it without any problem.

Villain: Ages away from a ferry and in the middle of nowhere.

Could the NPC either be moved so that villains don't have to trek through Nerva or simply add a second NPC that is in say, port oakes, instead.

And if he does make it to you, well, you won't exactly make it as a villain if you can't take care of all the angry idiots that'll be after you because your doomsday laser happened to fry the kindergarten their kids were in.
That's crossing the line that is...killing his wife, I can except that but going after children...my word man, you may be a villain but have some standards!

So now you've gone and upset me, ME! I rarely get upset but now I have to turn my own mad science against you, it's going to be a science off...you're not the only one in town with a Doomsday laser...mine happens to do the laundry as a means of charging but it can still fry a small village (and gets my whites whiter than white).

That's the one thing you've clearly forgotten to take into account with your plan, even Evil has standards.

So be prepared to be bought down by the one, the only, Doctor Mechano. I've been away but I'm back baby and ready to set the world on fire, starting with you!

Yeah it's kind of obvious that the new booster is going to be the long awaited (for most people) animal pack.

Even the new dev post suggested it (saying we would be "going wild over it").

Though I would still personally assassinate SexyJay for the Carnie outfit but then thinking this through it's been what...6 months or more since the 'All things art' talk started...so we're looking at quite a while to mull things over.
  17. Still enjoyed the music from the now very defunct game Total Annihilation which would use basic dynamic music.

Would be your basic 'you be building stoofs' musics. That's just one of many tracks, it's quite, understated and was actually a lot quieter ingame than it in in that video.

When all out war broke out then the music would suddenly shift, the volume would go up and something like this which is big, bombastic battle music.

I will say music is used very poorly in CoH especially compared to certain other MMOs (the Atlas park tune is nice but the big gorilla of games has a truly epic theme when you first walk into the major human city).
  18. They mean the third Superhero based MMO.

City of Heroes was the first, then the people who made City of heroes but sold the IP made a second game which is going free to play now (because it bled subscribers rather badly after launch and now has less than CoH does) and the other one you mentioned.
  19. I'll wait for Noble Savage to give us the low down thanks.
  20. Now we play the game I like to call 'good idea...very bad implementation'!

    That list mostly includes:
ED and GDN: Ok in the long run this was actually a good idea...it wasn't so much the implementation but the fact Jack had as much social skills when talking to players about the game as a dead fish, the bad publicity spiraled out of control and instead of City of Villains adding a very healthy chunk of players...it merely made up for the loss of those that left after the culmination of the nerfs.

City of Villains: Ok hear me out on this one, the idea of CoV and CoV itself are good...it's the whole 'expanshalone' rubbish they pulled with it. It split the player base (if it had been merely an expansion people would be more likely to flit between the two) and the villain character is never anything more than a mook, which cheesed a lot of people off as did the truly terrible Operation: DESTINY Arachnos storyline throughout the whole expansion. So good idea...implemented horribly.

The AE: Huge waste of time, the ratings system is terrible, they'll be forever one step behind people exploiting it to farm XP and if they kill XP in the AE completely the place will be more of a ghost town than it already is. When Positron announced the 20,000 stories were made...how many of those were Rikti comm farms...honestly?

Positron then didn't do himself any favours by appearing to throw his toys out of the pram in a post addressing the abuse and it wasn't until a second post (Conspiracy theory: Actually written by War Witch) that he managed to just about calm things down.

For all the hassle it's cost them so far and is going to cost them in the future...it wasn't worth it. All for an additional bullet point on the back of the (non-existent in the EU) box. It didn't warrant it's own issue and it certain as hell didn't warrant it's own boxed edition.

Original PvP design: "Eh...that'll do...who cares about what happens later" pretty much sums up the choice. Lazy, half-hearted implementation of something that...to be fair...wasn't really needed in the first place.

Issue 13 PvP design: "We must be getting the casuals!" Stinks of orders from 'on high' (i.e. not from within Paragon Studios) and poor old PS being forced to put through the changes whether the players liked them or not all for the purpose of having the new PvP supposedly bring in more subscribers...which failed to materialise and infact lost them probably 10-20k subscribers (if that to be fair...). Despite promises that they would 'look into it' the fact it actually netted them negative revenue (it cost them more than they got back out of it in terms of subscribers) the execs decided that all work on PvP would stop.

Especially since the new expansion pack was being devised.
  21. 1) Lack of Incarnate Shards, these are my 'thing' now.

    2) With A-merits you can get the exact thing you want with regards IOs without the annoyance of a 'random roll'. I can also earn Incarnate shards in tip missions, making it a twofer.

    3) Full of dross.

    4) Crap XP.

    5) Good Idea, crap and very half hearted implementation.

Ok let me expand on point number 5, the IDEA is good but much like Communism doesn't always work out that way.

My personal feeling is that they spent too much time, effort and resources on the AE when we could have had something else either instead of or more likely earlier than we did have.

It certainly didn't deserve to have a not just a whole Issue devoted to it but a whole damn box release. I personally think it would have been far better if they'd just ditched the AE at the 'ideas' stage, realised that it was just unworkable in the long run and moved onto something else.

The AE is normally only used for farming and even then only when someone discovers a new exploit.

Unfortunately they can't just pull it out of the game and file it under a 'we tried but it didn't work' since now it's a 'selling point' over other MMOs, even if the actual AE itself is a big steaming pile of turd it's something they can stick on the back of box releases as an eye-catching bullet point.

I second the idea of simply deleting everything off the AE and I do mean everything, even the guest author arcs and starting from fresh. Heck give people are 'Farm' tab to put in it, if you're not really going to do much about the actual arcs themselves (I honestly don't think there is time enough in the day for some poor sap to go through the entire AE and delete every farming arc reported).

I actually love my bubbler, but can't play her much because it gets old. If the set offered another power or two that feels more useful, I would be all over it!
The other problem with Forcefields isn't just that it is a one trick pony (it does defence and only defence...no other buffs or debuffs) but IO sets mean people can get close to or softcap their defense for not exactly a large chunk of inf.

So in an IO enviroment where Defense is easily available means that Forcefields just really isn't that useful since you're just going past the softcap.

Forcefields is a legacy set that hasn't seen an update, it was created when IOs were not even on the cards and where buffing up someones defense was actually a fairly good thing. Now it sticks out as the 'blech' buffing set. Everything it can do, Traps does almost as well and has the added benefit of debuffing -regen and -resistance too.
  23. Also the DPS meter isn't as useful here as it is in other MMOs.

Of which we have only three classes that are pure DPS, Scrappers, Stalkers and Blasters. Within those ATs there is a huge variation on what each does well, a Fire/Fire Scrapper or blaster is less about the single target and more about the AoE.

That is another point, in this game AoE is king when it comes to teaming in other MMOs you can't have a single party member wipe out a group of 20 or so bad guys almost every single group and it is rare that a Tank is designed to withstand the pummeling of large numbers of mobs like a CoH tank is.

Single target DPS (which is what a DPS meter actually looks at and is used for Raid Bosses in other MMOs) is a very small part of CoH with teams.

Everything is bigger and brighter in CoH, we can handle large groups of mobs at high level and melt them in seconds.

Heck I was on a Taskforce with four Tanks and the AoE chain went Footstomp, Footstomp, Footstomp, Shield Charge, Lightning Rod just from the Tanks alone which would wipe out most large groups now add in the Fireball, Fire breath, Rain of fire, Greater fire sword circle and Inferno from the Fire blaster we had with us and it turns into a 'lolenemies' type situation.

"Two more wearing white outfits with red crosses on the back leap from underneath a workbench and drag it to safety."
    "Medics?? They have MEDICS????"
Hehe I'd have the Medics be fully fledged members of the Red Cross too, so wounding them would be a consider an act against the Geneva convention with the Rats trying to bring the heroes up for war crimes if they do kill the Medics.

    "Oh come on, they're Rodents!"
"Rodents intelligent enough to fill out applications for membership to the Red Cross plus remember they're covered under that 'sentient species' act which means all sentient life gets treated fairly."

Of course you could go one step further and create a whole plethora of Rat teams, like say 9 classes which include a large rat with a gattling pistol, a medic with a healing gun and a one eyed, scottish, eyepatch wearing rat with backmounted miniature grenade launcher.

What I'd probably do after the War of the Rodent is resolved is have the heroes go up against an Alien invasion and be fighting a losing battle, until the air gets filled with millions upon millions of battle squeaks and what seems like every rodent in the city comes out of the wood work in support of the heroes to aid their defense.
