  1. I think the answer to that is going to end up being 'Maybe'. Dr Aeon is behind it all and his inventions have a tendancy not to work the way he thinks they do.

Take a look at the main page for I14. The third pic looks like the Contact creation. From my rough look, it seems you can call the contact anything you want, give them a new identity basically, but the model has to be in the list of current in-game contacts. Dean John-Yu becomes Mr. Lewdal, but he looks the same and is still in the University. I think that's what that shot is portraying.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Audio file said that you could choose characters that aren't already contacts, i.e. members of enemy groups (Battle Miaden was given as an example, I think), including a variety of objects. Whats not clear is if custom enemy groups will be amongst the options you have for your custom contacts.
  3. Are there any context sensitive dialogue options available to us (different dialogue based on character gender, origin, badges, souvys, mission progress etc...)? Or if not, is it a possibility for later on?

    Thanks.
  4. Ex, the massively article had an audio recording of the Rooster Teeth Video and then a demo of the MA. Any chance of releasing the video of that demo too?
  5. The audio says you can search by author.
  6. So power customisation would hint at no more new powersets, cos we could just make ours look however we want?
  7. Don't know what to say, except...

    Yay! Issue 14! Beta! Wooo!

  8. [ QUOTE ]

Here’s a bit of a teaser: We have big plans for these (and other) badges, and we really want them to mean something to your character. If you are in a dialog tree that involves creating something, we have the ability to look at your badges and see if you have taken the effort to prove yourself as a crafter. This effort would be rewarded with special options in the dialog tree that earn you better results, enable you to skip steps, etc. For this system to work, we’ll need them to be a reasonable indicator of the amount of work a crafter has put into crafting. And it’s not just dialog trees that are going to look at badges, and it’s not just crafting badges that will be looked at, so you guys can speculate away!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Awesome! Context sensitive dialogue rocks, and would go a long way to help making our characters feel distinct and to have our choices have impact on our ingame experiences.

So... are there plans to let us use systmes like this in the MA?

  9. Its a very nice idea, but my major problem with it is that its yet another zone full of badguys for our badguys to beat up on. Couldn't have some good guys to fight? pretty please?

What if that spooks and zombies were actually good, protecting the Isle from any serious takeover by Arachnos, and giving a more peaceful life for the inhabitants, further aided by Wyvern, Legacy chain and maybe other hero groups) support. (who use it as a valuable staging area to assault Arachnos interests) The our villains could come in to mess things up, either at the behest of Arachnos, other villains groups, just because we want to or to get at all the treasure (both mystic and financial).

As described, it sound much more suited to valient heroes boldly fighting all the evil doers. CoV really needs to get away from that, in my opinion.

You lose almost ever good PvPer in the damn game and then when you realize how much you lost you give free activation weekend and now all of a sudden arena gets a choice on the pvp changes. Looks to me you lost quite a bit of people and now you are desperately trying to get them back.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep, except of course they announced the arena options over all of a sudden over a month ago
  11. Bye Lighthouse, hope everything goes great for you in the future.

Is it intended that some of the Shield models(namely half of the elemental shields) are not available to Huge characters?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They aren't available to Female or Huge, but its a bug and they will be before it goes live.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I just tried out the "alternate build" on a lvl 50 I had on the test server. The crazy thing is it started the other build at lvl 1. I'm not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but I really don't want to lvl my guy all the way up again unless I get to repick my primary and secondary power types. I was hoping to be greated with a respec screen that would let me re select my powers then choose if I wanted to keep IO's that I had already purchased.

Anyone else having this same problem?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is a respec, you just have to level it up each time. So, pick your powers for level 1, then speak to the trainer to choose level 2 etc..

AT the start of Beta there was some code so that you could train multiple levels without coming out of the training screen, but that git removed (some bug I think, so might come back).
  14. I tend to look upon badges like this: You should get badges for doing things, you shouldn't be doing things to get badges. So, a badge thats is awarded for crafting lots of things is intended for characters who spend a lot of time crafting. Exploration badges are there for people who enjoy exploring the zones, Task force badges are there for people who wanted to do a Task force etc...

I think new badges have to be designed around that sort of criteria, rather than 'How fast can someone who just wants the badge, and has nothing else left to do, get the badge'.
  15. Oh, one possible suggestion:

To get away from the stigma fo being rewarded for not playing, what about if time spent playing other characters counted more? I mean, if you log out and stop playing it takes 24 hrs to get a day job benefit, but every hour of that 24 that you are playing another of your characters advances that 24hr clock by 2hrs?

Not sure if thats clear, but the idea is that actually actively alting accrues bonuses faster than simply not playing the game at all.

i remember seeing some where that the day job badges were linked to costumes

    [/ QUOTE ]

Day job badges are NOT linked to costumes.

The day job related costumes are free, unlocked at the start, content in Issue 13.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Excellent! Best news about I13 so far! (Not a slight on I13, theres lots of great stuff in there. Just I was worried that the days of adding to the costume creator just for the sake of it, rather than for unlockables or booster packs was going the way of the the dodo. I am amazingly glad to be wrong)
  17. 1) I'm assuming that the new costume piceces are not tied to day job badges, since the article doesn't mention them. I my opinion, it would make no sense to do it otherwise and would add nothing to the game.

    2) I don't think day jobs should be specific to either side. There is plenty of scope in comicbook land for evil police or heroic smugglers.

    3) Rested XP? Meh, not really sold on it. There needs to be a way to opt out of it for those that don't want to outlevel content.

In general, I don't really see day jobs as presented adding anything of value to the game, concept wise. Before, if someone wanted to, they could log off in a hospital and pretend their character was working as a janitor there. Now, the game will tell them they are a doctor. *shrug*

Let me specify with my opinion on changes and the fear of changes. As most know, I LOVE Force Fields. In a very unhealthy way, some might say.

However, if the devs changed one of the powers completely and/or replaced it with another... let's say they changed my FAVORITE power in the set, Repulsion Field into a power that "built a small cottage at your chosen location"... then how would I react?

Well, I would look at it as a challenge, as a new interesting mechanic. I would look for ways to make use of the change. I would see if I could summon the cottage around corners to see if it could aggro enemies for me in safety. I would see if it could be targeted and used for Howling Twilight...

There are a thousand possibilities... but the moral of the story is this: change happens. It just does. You can either complain about it endlessly or you can embrace it. One will lead you to being upset and will affect the way you face the rest of the world in a negative way, the other attitude will let you face the world in a positive way.

I TRY to never let anything bother me too much in a negative way. (TRY being the operative word here) Why? Because it only ends up hurting me in the end. And why allow something that I can control within myself to harm me when I can choose to NOT allow it to cause me grief?

How do I benefit from being upset? I don't, so I try not to let things upset me. Because it doesn't benefit me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or, you could just say 'Um devs, I don't want a cottage. I want a force field, can you change it back?' and they might go 'Oh, really? sorry about that, here ya go' and then you'd be even happier, right?

I don't think its at all unreasonable for, when told that random powers are going to be removed because they weren't popular enough, for people to say "Hang on a second, that doesn't sound like a good thing to do. People who did choose those powers probably did it because they liked them for some reason, maybe you will need to rethink that plan otherwise they might not be happy"
  19. We all know about Pirates and we all know about Ninjas and what happens when they fight is a matter of intense discussion. However, what happens after they fight? When the battlefield is littered with the bodies of the fallen? Well, we can rebuild them, we have the technology...

    Part Pirate.
    Part Ninja.
    Part Robot.
    All Awesome.

    "Millionaire Playboy"

Seriously. One of my character has more money than most countries, and he only 'plays' super hero because he's an arrogant rich snot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

Actually, one of my characters is a Mild-mannered Freelance Billionaire Playboy.
  24. Woah, hang on... Will this translate to unlimited respecs on the Test Server (you can 'buy' them but its not wired up to the billing system so they are free)?

If so, that should make some people very happy.
