Youre no stranger to songs
You know lyrics and so do we
A full congratulations what were thinking of
You wouldnt hear this on any other day
We just wanna sing you what we're feeling
Gotta sing this, understand?
Have a Happy Birthday, Rick
Have Happy Birthday, Rick
We hope you enjoy your birthday
Have a Happy Birthday, Rick
Have a Happy Birthday, Rick
Have a very Happy Birthday
Youve been alive for so long
Your hearts still beating
And were glad youve made it
Inside we both know this joke is dragging on
We know the chorus and were gonna repeat it
And we hope you have a great day
Dont get so drunk that you cant see
Have a Happy Birthday, Rick
Have Happy Birthday, Rick
We hope you enjoy your birthday
Have a Happy Birthday, Rick
Have a Happy Birthday, Rick
Have a Very Happy Birthday -
So, are you advocating for a reduction in the defence cap of Blasters?
EDIT: Oh, and if not and you are confused, a good rule of thumb might be: Can your character do the same things in a non-MA mission? If so, then it probably good to go (unless it gets nerfed at some pointdue to balance reasons, but thats just a fact of MMO life). -
Go on Devs dooooo eeeeeet!!
Its my Birthday and I want I15!
Not that i can test the task forces, cos I don't want them spoiled!
But still!
I may have drunk some rum!
But its a perfect cromulent argument! -
Fighting badguys with no ranged attacks was abusive, but badguys with no ranged attacks isn't inline with the games general design (hence wolves being given the ability to throw rocks). Heck, I remember there was a minor outcry when badguys were given the AI which let them run away if they couldn't retaliate against flying enemies.

I had about... a year and half maybe, 700+ hours of playtime.

em: sits back and waits to see what kind of humor Arcanaville's response to this will have. This could be good.

I'm guessing it will involve a definition of hotness that involves at least three inter-related equations (possibly inequalities), an indepth explination and discussion of all the terms involved, a new type of time, a spreadsheet and possible 2-3 graphs.

The Mutant origin refers to people who were born mutated some way (i.e. different from their own species). Science refers tro people who were changed in some way due to exposure to something. So the Lost should be Science origin.

I could see a one-time bonus merit reward for the first time you complete it successfully.

Didn't say anything about trends, just that they don't get spikes because of one thing or another. Can't tell exactly how many accounts they lost due to PvP changes because they lose and gain accounts for so many other reasons, the numbers don't suddenly jump up or down in a week or two. The spate of people saying "I've cancelled my account' doesn't show up against the background noise of natural changes. The overall trend for account numbers can show interesting information, no doubt, but its an aggregate of so many different changes and other trends that saying anything about any one is difficult, I imagine.
Thats only using one variable though, I am sure they have all sorts of metrics which allow them to look at particular things (number of different accopunts who engage in PvP, % of ATs created etc...) -
Yeah, we can never really know how much one thing or another affects things. I beleive that BaBs once said that the sub figures fluctuate so much on a daily basis that its pretty hard to measure any sort of imapct from any decisions. So, some people leave cos they don't like 'such and such', most of the playerbase never notices 'such and such', some people join because the like 'such and such' and some new people join who don't know what 'such and such' was and don't really care. Even ED only showed as a dip of 2000ish accounts (according to Statesman) and that was kind of mitigated by the 60000ish gained by CoV.
Will the number of people who leave be more or less than the number who joined because of MA? Or because of Steam or because of the news storys about CoH or because 'such and such' a hero game got delayed or... I personally doubt it, but its not likely that any of us will ever know. -
People have never really PvP'd much in this game, and probably never will. In my opinion, anyhow.

Unless there's a graveyard under Atlas Plaza, there shouldn't be any Shivans just because a meteor landed.

Unless it landed on anyone
Anyhow, I still think the Coming Storm is a big con job. I think each of the Menders think the Storm they are preventing is something different. -
Yeah, the increase in advertising, the availablity on Steam, the new box in the shops, the expansion announcement... all should result in an (at least temporary) surge.
-
NCSoft removed the subscription numbers from all their games in their quarterly reports, so there are no uptodate numbers. Last ones we had were around 125,000-130,000. The sales/profits of CoH in the reports have remained mostly constant since that time, I believe.

You're entire argument hinges on players being able to have free reign. Well by your logic I want my Bots/FF MM to be able to throw fire balls.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats a good idea, has been sugggested in the past. Seperate out the 3 personal attacks for MMs into a seperate choice, rather than lumping them in with the pet type. Would be great for concept reasons, could help with redraw issues, would allow MMs to benefit from proliferation more etc...
So yeah, Robots and fireballs for teh win.
Limiting powers or costumes or such based on origin? no thanks. -
Yeah, anyhow... races + classes = luxury.
Also, this post is relevant to Slashdot in some incredibly subtle way. See, it even mentions Slashdot, so it must do. Otherwise, why would it mention Slashdot? -

What we're badges originally intended for?
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally, I see Badges as a record of what each character has done. Kind of giving a snapshot of their personality and past experiences. I have hopes that eventually, the context sensitive dialogue system will evolve into a system so that characters and storys can behave differently to characters depending on which badges the character has.
I do realise that is not the view of everyone, of course, just my perspective. -

When I was as new to gaming as you, we had to roll 3d6 for our stats! In order! And what class you could play was determined by those rolls ! And that was only if your race allowed it! /geezeroff
[/ QUOTE ]
Choices of classes foir races? Luxury!!
I remember when your race was your class, and you were grateful for that! -
There would also be griefer. Not just PvP, just people who's main aim seems to be making the game as unpleasant for other players as possible. Thankfully they don't last long, but its still a motivation for logging in.
Theres also Socialisers, people who don't really care as much about the gameplay aspects, but mainly play cos they have lots of friends who also play.
EDIT: Also, yes. Souvys are great, so much better and more meaningful than those frivilous badges -
Go on Devs, someone lean on the 'launch beta' button. You know you want to!
-
I think there is a distinction between badges that can't be got by all players and badges that can't be got by all characters. Not all characters will have all badges, thats fair enough. (if you don't heal you don't get a healing badge). But any player can make a character that heals, so any player can get some healing badges.

The game cards are different from the game time cards. The game card ($20) gives you a game account, 1 month and a jet pack that lasts a month. The Game time cards (any NCSoft time card will do, I believe) just give you the gametime.
EDIT: You might also look at getting the Architect edition. I think that should also just be $20, you'd get the cd, 1month, plus one of the costume packs free. That can also be used to upgrade your trial account.
