  1. Maybe make the -kb part of the aura powers? That way, only things that are already close to the tanker don't get knocked away.

    Speaking of Inf....

Anyone notice on Hero Side when you save a civilian from getting mugged, etc, they pay you? Isnt that a little... weird? Haha. I know that its a means of gaining money and exp and earning money without having to do mishes but... in real life, I cant say I'd PAY a hero for saving me, or as a Hero TAKE the money. Haha.

    [/ QUOTE ]

WELL.. that all sort of revolves around their insisting that Influence is NOT money. According to NC Soft and Cryptic before them Influence was/is your reputation within the city so you saved a citizen and your reputaion improved (a bit) since one more citizen now thinks you are great!

It's the biggest joke in game IMO I use influence to buy (YES BUY) everything from added costumes to enhancements, recipes, salvage, inspirations and can even exchange it for prestige to support my SG base (that rate is awful at 2000 prestige for 1 million in inf but it does exist out there). INF is money... Sorry NC Soft but when was the last time you went to the store and picked out new clothing and then told the sale clerk "Oh I am using my Reputation to purchase these things." *pause* "No wait why are you calling Securty?" LOL

    [/ QUOTE ]

That stuff more or less works Heroside. The Costume change thing was originally explained as you losing influence because you become less recognisable. The more you change your costume, the less influence you have with the general public.

Similarly, you don't buy stuff from the shops, you ask for it and they give it to you. However, because you are going and asking for help, the word gets around and you go down in peoples estimation. However, if you donate stuff that you have found, then people see you as generous and your influence goes up. Insps aren't actual things, so you can't buy them. They are just you getting peptalks from your contacts, which later on inspire you! (And word gets around that you needed inspiring, so you seem less awesome).

Prestige to influence converstion also kind of works, its like the Martian manhunter He has very little influence because he converts it all into prestige for the Justice League. Whereas Batman is hardly ever in SG mode!

Heck we have our own version of the STOCK MARKET these days in Wentworths and the Black Market.. "Buy low, Sell high"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, thats what really killed the idea, somehow using an annonymous system affects what people think about you!

Also, none of it ever really worked Villainside (in my opinion) Villain use Infamy instead of money just because thats how Heroes do it.
  3. They could do it like the Ouro badge, have a variety of potential requirements that you only need some of. So you need Badges X AND (Y1 OR Y2) AND (Z1 OR Z2 OR Z3)
  4. I'd guess he means that if people put builds up on the site they could be 'tagged' with various keywords (things like AoE, single target, support, control, concept, OMGFOTMBBQ!!1!) so people could easily find or compare builds that do what they are looking for.
  5. Shouldn't have, they don't delete old characters. Maybe try looking through all the servers? I am always finding old alts when I accidently click on the wrong one.

As for what the community needs... not sure. We already have boards for people to compare builds and so on (here), there's Mids Planner which lets you plan builds and export them to share with others, theres already a wiki (so not sure how successful you'll be trying to build a new one up from scratch, I'd guess anyone who is inclinded to do that sort of thing already does it on the existing one) and there are various sites with all the missions in the game and every power too.

What might be cool is an online mission builder, with fields for all the stuff from the MA, that saves a file in the correct format to be read by the game. That way people could tinker with their stories whilst not ingame. I don't think we have one of them yet (though might be mistaken)

Basically, it's more inclusive than the term Asian, as most people today, when they hear the word Asian, tend to associate that with people from China and Japan south. And while technically Asian does include countries like Pakistan, Russia, and Turkey, most people today don't associate those countries with the term Asian, even if it is correct.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just a quick clarification, thats the usage in America, it differs in other places. For example in Britain, Asian is used for people originating from South Asia, not for people from China/Japan.

One thing I need to add is that accounts that were affected by the bad server may experience a substantial amount of time to correct the issue, this is normal. Apologies for the inconvenience!

It took a while for the patcher to fix my files, but its working fine now. Thanks
  8. You can apply the Mac edition to your PC one just fine.

In order to apply the packs you need to log into your PlayNC Master account and then select the correct game account

Its only a few threads down from this one!

    Also, Yay!
  10. The mission teleporter power comes with the Mac edition of the game which costs $20 to buy (but that comes with a months playtime, so if you were gonna buy another month then its only $5 extra). Similarly, when you buy the architect edition, you get either the Magic or Cyborg Booster packs with it along with a months playtime, thus saving you money.

However, i think its the case that you can only apply each edition of the game once to your account, so you can't buy two copies of architect and apply them to your account. I may be wrong about that, however.

  13. These could probably be done as an accolade from other badges. Like, if you get all the badges related to that zone: so read all the plaques about it, get all the exploration badges in it, maybe some badges relating to any enemies directly related to it, maybe also completing all/some of the storyarcs related to it.

I recall reading something very similar a few years ago, and someone said that it couldnt be done under the current system, but i still like it and would love to see it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was quite possibly me, I think I originally suggested this (though its entirely possible I wasn't the first) a couple of years ago in a DP thread (which also involved coming up with a DP secondary for Blasters) I PM'd Castle and he said it was technically possible but would also most likely be very buggy and hard to manage. Not his exact words, and its entirely possible things have changed since then.

  17. I believe its because they still liscence the game engine from Cryptic.
  18. Another good Test would be to find out which of the Tsoo Bosses is the best!
  19. I still click the powers too! Nothing wrong with that.
  20. Since I tend to gravitate to sets that do Negative, Smashing and Lethal, I find the Ghost Slaying Axe very useful. Plus, it does look cool.
  21. I think its exactly what you said, an Alpha absorbing power, for a set where burst damage is the real killer.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Well to be fair to that, people have been asking for side-switching since COV came out. But that doesn't mean that they had been devoting much thought to *how* that could be done at that time. I imagine it would be kind of hard on the group that was left at that point, "well, we can back burner all this stuff, ... someone write this down. some day. some day we will get to it." I'm just glad that they have enough man and woman power to GET to things now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Interestingly, in CoV Beta one of the Devs (maybe Positron? can't remember the exact one) Did post outlining their basic plans for how side switching would eventually work. The whole path to switching would come from a 'Moment of descision', where your character would decide whether or not to kill a Rogue Longbow agent. If a Hero decide to kill them, they would turn to the red side. Whereas a Villain who let them live would have a chance to become a hero.

    Something close to that anyway.

Of course, I am sure that plan has nothing to do with Going Rogue, it was such a long time ago. (Posi also outlined his idea for personal Nemeses through a clue system, which would allow people to craft their Nemesis from various bits of info they found.) But they did have plans for it, even back then.
  23. My problem with the CoV zones is that there is nothing vilainous to do there. Its a city of villains, so theres a bunch of villains standing around, and since I am a villain I really have no motivation for fighting any of them (also, I'm usually on my way to a mission full of even more villains that I need to fight).

In CoH, I stop muggings and break ins and dodgy deals. In CoV... I just get from A to B.

    Power Myths!

    But... its always midnight somewhere!
  25. Ooh, interesting!

Also, the Hero cape mission had better get a map update!
