    One of the original balance design goals was that a character should be roughly equivalent to 3 minions or a lieutenant and one minion. That no longer seems to be the goal. What is the design goal today with regard to balance in both PvE and PvP?

    Since Praetoria was designed with Ultramode in mind how will that affect those of us with low end graphics cards?
    [David Nakayama] Ultramode is completely opt-in. So things'll look consistent for low-end machines, and quickly ramp up to 'spectacular' with high end cards.

    Posi - That would require making Ultra-mode required for everyone (who gets to see your powers), so not in the foreseeable future.

    What is the chance of having a "wipe clean" respec for a toon to repick powers or Archtype. I have been told the reason is no heroes ever change their powers. I have to disagree on that. Superman Red/Blue or Guy Gardner and their are a lot more. A vetpwr?
    Posi - The reason isn't that those characters don't, it's more that a complete overhaul invalidates a ton of work we've put into making the game alt-friendly.

    [David Nakayama] As announced on Wednesday, we're having an anniversary contest in which players can submit their own Loyalist propaganda or Resistance graffiti for possible use in the game. I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with.

    Posi - There is a TON of new content in Praetoria, and the GR system has a slew of content that relates to making moral choices.

    Did you ever consider creating a power that would instantly swap your toon with another one from your account? E.g., you could exchange your blaster with a healer without logging off, remaining in your team/task force (similar to a kheldian form shift).

    Posi- There is a cooldown timer that will slow the process. We are still working on the exact numbers, but we're eyeballing a week's worth of work to switch one degree.

    [Castle] A character who switches sides completely will retain their current Ancillary / Patron Powers until they respec. At which point, they will be forced to select from their "current" alignment. Heroes and Vigilantes count toward "Heroes". Villains and Rogue count toward "Villains".

    The Going Rogue page states that we will be getting extra character slots, can you clarify for us if this means that we'll be able to have more than 36 slots on one server or is this just free character tokens that we'll have to use on other servers? by CounterAgent
    [Ghost Falcon] Players will receive two (2) "Character Slot" tokens which they can use to unlock any "locked" character slots. If a player has unlocked all available slots already on a server, the player will only be able to redeem those "character slot" unlocks on another server. There are no plans at the moment to expand the available Character Slots beyond 36 slots per server.

  7. Have you tried turning off any firewalls/virus scanners to see if that fixes the problem?
  8. If you are really worried about it, having a second build that contains more ally friendly powers that you can switch to when teaming would probably sort the problem.
  9. Sounds pretty reasonable, at least for the vet costume pieces (not sure about powers). It does feel kinda silly trying to explain to someone that they'll have to play the game for over 3 years to be able to wear boxing gloves and shorts.
  10. What you are describing is a bit of a tank mage, so can't really be done. If you don't mind subsituting a machine gun for the DPs, then maybe a Wolf Spider would work. They are tough and get good defence, plus shoot stuff.

    Otherwise, maybe a Thugs/Pain MM, DP/Pain corr or Empathy/DP (for the aura powers that'll give you self heals and regen) with fighting and leadership (also Psy Mastery for the defender)

    So, i fully expect a Loyalist to end up a hero or to be able to have a villainous Resistance member.
  12. What would be the point of linking something like this to Origin, anyway?

    You could get the exact same thing by just having a bit list of perks that each character could pick from regardless of origin. So, anyone could be a bodybuilder or wear flame resistant clothing or have mutated strength.

    Of course, then you have the standard balance problems with certain perks just being better for certain ATs powersets, plus the fact that they'd have a hard time balancing things so that the perks were big enough to notice but low enough not to be overpowering. So, i still don't think it would be a great idea, but its better than tying it to Origin for no real reason.

  16. There is also the thing that very few superhero comics are devoted to Reed Richards playing the markets, buying Magic Wands cheap from Dr Strange and combining them with some Alien Blood to make Steroid Injections to sell to Captain America.

    Some people just play the game to be Superheros/villains.

    Leave the game exactly as it is, use the unlimited resources to take over the world, and then have anyone who didn't like the game taken away for 're-education'.

    *shrugs* because they wanted to freshen up the starting experience with all the new shineys to help attract new subscribers. (which they will be hoping to get with the new boxes on shelves) And wanted to flesh out and tell the stories of the praetorians. And because of the amount of alting done in this game, the content most people have repeated is the first 20 levels or so, so adding new zones to those gives new levelling options, which prevents altitis burnout. (and therefore better subscriber retention). Probably some of those reasons.

    But, like i said, I'm expecting something different from GR than it seems you are. Hopefully we'll get a bunch of new concrete info soon (theres that PAX thing soon right? end of next week or somesuch). And then GR beta will be upon us too.

    Is it? Again, I never had the impression that the side switching stuff for Heroes and Villains happened entirely (or indeed, at all) in Praetoria. Maybe I missed where they said that, or something.

    Um... thats not really the impression I got from the info I have heard/seen. A hero going rogue has nothing to do with joining any oragnisation, its more about moral choices. There will be a bunch of new missions that can change your alignment, based on morality. If a hero does enough vigilante/baddy missions then they get the chance to become a vigilante, then if they do more they can declare themselves a villain. (same with villains). Paretoria is a new starting area for 1-20 that has its own seperate storyline that ends with ther pratorian people picking an alignment and coming to our earth.

    So, all this Loyalist/Resistance stuff has little to do with Hero or Villain. You can have heroic Loyalists who are just trying to save people and Villainous Resistance folks who just want to watch the world burn. And Heroes who don't care one jot about Paretoria, but who might just be tempted by a bribe... or maybe they get tired of seeing the same badguys let out of jail time after time and decide to try out a more permanent solution.

    Thats certainly what i am hoping for anyway, from everything I heard/read about the system. It will remain to be seen exactly how well written the moral mission are. (I have high hopes for them though)

    Generally, PLing (the kind that some people dislike) is the kind that expressly targets getting maximum xp without all the characters getting that xp participating. Padding, bridging, just having characters wait by the door, targetting enemies who give the most xp with little risk etc...

    I'd call just playing through a bunch of short missions/TFs with friends/PuGs is just called levelling (or possibly, playing the game). Whilst I do like to read the story most of the time, sometimes you just want to enjoy the actual gameplay of being a team (or being solo) and fighting some stuff. And theres nothing run with that, its a fun game.
  23. What if each zone had set outdoor objectives that granted mission complete bonuses when completed. Everyone in the zone of the correct level range would have the mission (no need to talk to a contact) and progress would be tracked, just like it is with badges. When you complete the mission, you get some sort of xp reward (may or may not be the same as a regular mission reward)

    Each objective would be based on the zone and would probably be repeatable. (maybe with the requirements increasing slightly each time) But you would only get progress on the objectives if you get xp for defeating the badguys involved.

    Could be defeat x of y (Defeat 40 Lost in Skyway) or even tie it down to a particular area of the zone. Maybe it could be more general, like: Defeat 20 bosses in Steel Canyon. Even better, you could be rewarded for defeating certain spawn types (Stop 25 muggings in Atlas Park, Stop 20 CoT sacrifices in Perez)

    Maybe when you character has achieved all objectives in a particular zone, you get a badge. Or the security chief offers you a special mission or somesuch.

    Anyway, that would up the xp for street sweeping, as well as giving you goals to aim for.

    Collectors edition: No-pre purchase, Pack, 1 months gametime. $39.99

    Complete Collection: Pre-purchase, Pack, 1 months gametime. $whatever they want people to pay.

    Would be much simpler, everyone could see and compare costs and pick what was right for them.

    Mainly a pet peeve of mine, I prefer businesses to tell me the actual prices of things, rather than giving me some of the info and making me work it out for myself (see: restaurants that don't include service charge, and airlines that don't include airport charges in their quoted prices)
