  1. I'd say if you can find it cheaply (like say $20ish) then its probably still worth it, since it comes with a months sub anyway.
  2. Actuallyy, re-reading the thread, reiella seems to have already answered it in the 2nd post, so you should probably thank them

Do you have to spend (X) amount of Paragon Points to earn the Reward Tokens.

So, you get Reward Tokens over time for subscribing and Reward Tokens for buying PP. Also, if you subscribe for a year (and pay up front), you'll get all 12 reward tokens right away, without having to wait.

So, Reward Tokens seem to be directly linked to the amount of money you have put into the game. (i.e. Vet rewards where the time element is removed) So, it seems the old vet rewards will be indirectly buyable.

I wouldn't be that suprised if this was already planned as the case. We have been told that there are already extra perks from being a vet(other than the reward tokens). For example, we know 3 year old vets will be able to play MMs/Controllers on Premium accounts. There might well be something like, for each year vet status you have (or you have earnt 12 reward tokens), you can join 1 global channel.

Not saying that that is certain, but it seems to me that they are going the route that the longer you have been playing (and/or the higher the amount of money you put into the game) the less restrictions you have if you stop paying the description.

They are giving VIPs a discount, a $5 a months discount. So if the release a booster packs worth of stuff a month, and charge $15 total for that amount of stuff, then VIPs can buy for $10.

Or, conversely, if they release a Booster pack worth of stuff every 4 months (like the schedule they do now), VIPs will get $20s off the price, meaning that they could technically charge $30 for that amount of stuff and you would not be paying anymore than you are right now (paying your sub + $10 every 4 months or so for boosters)

  7. Yeah, if this level of clunkiness is in the way of buying stuff, then my interest will certainly be diminished. And the lastest patch on test is entirely devoted to UI tweaks for this, so looks like its here to stay

Which is again weird. Since they went to the trouble of redesigning UI stuff over this, that implies they are going to be around for a while. But, if CoHF is going to contain tech that can do the job properly, why bother?

Blame the players on Virtue. Have you any idea what they'd do with a /mount command?

It is true though. Go try it on Test if you'd like. Vet Rewards are global unlocks. Certifications and Vouchers (the newly added reward mechanic for I20.5) work as I describe.

Thats why I (and others) are confused as to why they exist. Vouchers, I can understand. They are a way to give a reward to an account that can only be claimed by one of the characters. But Certificates are just plain weird.

As I said, maybe they are a placeholder system, and the Devs haven't been able to say that before( because people would ask 'A placeholder for what?') And if thats the case, then fine.

However, if it turns out they are an integral part of buying stuff in COHF? Then thats a different story. Because they are clunky.

  13. Captain America, **** Yeah!
  14. Just for those who don't know:

I20.5 introduces these new concepts for the Costume/Auras/rewards unlocked via the Incarnate merit store. They work through the e-mail system, with Certificates being claimable on all characters and Vouchers only being claimable once. So, you buy costume piece, you get e-mail a certificate. You claim that certificate to unlock that piece for each character. You can do this on as many of your characters as you like.

You might say 'Why not certifications?' and the answer is in their clunkyness when compared to global unlocks.
    1. You have to click to claim them on each character.
    2. You will never be able to access those costume parts in the inital creator. You'll have to make a character, enter the game, claim the cert and then go to the tailor to change your costume.
    Therefore, 'Why Certifications?'

The need for these was questioned in Beta and as far as I can recall there was no dev response. It was theoriesed by some players that true global unlocks (such as those from buying a Booster Pack) could not be triggered from inside the game.

However, if we are going to have an in-game store where we can buy stuff from ingame then some of that must be global, right? If so, why were Certifications added to the game?

Are they a stop gap measure to add rewards to incarnates asap and will be replaced by true global unlocks in I21?

    OR

Will the ingame store not be able to do global unlocks and so everything you do through it will be done via Certifications (and Vouchers)?

    OR

    Something else?

    No idea.

However, they have said that there will still be free issues. They have also said that there will be monthly story arch (two per month, one hero, one villain), which is about roughly half the number that were in Praetoria. each year. and they are mentioned as being distinct from free issues. Thats all included under the subscription. As is at least one new zone.

Plus, they say they are working on lots of new powersets and lots of costume pieces.

So, if I believe what they say (as in that they aren't out and out lying), then I believe that there will be lots of content to come (including a substantial amount that will be included in the subscription price, which isn't changing)

So, maybe they discovered the secrets of alchemy. Or maybe they are using slave labour. Or maybe they made a deal with the devil.
  16. I think the correct way to do it is this:

Make an exhaustive list of every new thing you got last year: How many missions, costume pieces, powersets etc... Also calculate how much you spent on the game.

Then in the next year, try to duplicate that list as closely as possible and see how much money you have spent. Another thing you will find is how long it takes you to get the exact same amount of stuff.

    EDIT:

Really, this should be repeated over another year too.

And yet another game mechanic that Martial Arts really should have gotten.
Would it be able to play different animations or just the same one speeded up/slowed down?

    Sounds so awesome.
  20. Ooh, another thought.

I wonder how the momentum speeding up of animations is achieved? If its tech that can actually speed up/slow down animations on the fly (probably isn't, but hey, we can dream) then that could mean come very cool effects for time manipulation.

I believe its more to do with replacing the missions that flashback to the old tutorials.
  22. I do think that the Community/Dev team needs to become very careful about things like this, making sure to state what category (free for all, included in VIP and purchaseable for others, Purchaseable by all) new content they show/announce will fall into (right from the first time they announce/show it).

It'll be interesting to see the limits on these. Can it be applied to more than one ally/enemy at a time? Can you have both the ally and enemy ones active at the same time?

And the momentum thing for Titan weapons sounds very cool! Almost like a signature powerset for Brutes.
