A single pancake, rather than a stack of them, would probably be better.

Quote:Your money will actually go further, if you keep subscribing, thanks to the monthly extra PP."Buy the booster packs right now to save money, since things will be more expensive ala carte."
Does anyone else see a problem with this? I'm not trying to start an argument but, it seems silly that my money will not go as far as it used to for the same items.
Old model:
In one year you'll spend $15 * 12 and buy, say, 4 boosters (4 * 10) = $220
You'll recieved a years playing the game and 4 booster packs worth of stuff.
New Model:
In one year you'll spend $15 * 12 = $180
You'll recieve a years playing the game and $60 worth of PP, which will buy you about 4 booster packs worth of stuff.
You get the same amount for $40 less. You can use that $40 to buy 4 powersets (or 2 and a bit extra booster packs worth of stuff), meaning you get more for your money.
That is obviously assuming the Devs keep to their word about VIP players getting at least as much new stuff included in their subscription as they do now. -
Quote:I'd disagree on that point, number 5 is actually quite charming and one of the better ones (and 6 has some fun characters and good moments).I did it once and never again; you forget just how bad the later films were.
Number 7 is an obvious abomination (Why are there Russain Chimp Policemen?!?!) but it surprised me just how bad number 4 was. I mean, ugh, a 3-4 minute skateboarding sequence, dull repeated jokes and no plot to speak of?
I'd recommend a 2 stage marathon over a weekened 1-4 on Saturday, 5-7 on a Sunday. That way, if you drink, you'll be soberst for the best bits and drunkest during the worst parts. -
-
Except you get $5 (or $6.88ish) included with your subscription, so if you are a VIP once a month you can buy a full booster pack worth of stuff for roughly $10, or get a free one every 3 months or so.

Good that you say which things are account wide.
This bit made me smile though
Quote:Which Team Inspirations don't grant benefit to your team and will they be sold for a discount? Most Team Inspirations grant an Inspiration's benefits to your entire team.
And, yes yes, I'm sure it may be technically accurate and there will be one that only grants part of its benefit or only to teammates who are in range or only teammates who are currently dead etc... -
Put me down for the standing on a cloud, magic carpet and broomstick ones as well.
Also, just a simple disc to stand on (and maybe a disc for each foot, like in ReBoot?) Oooh, and a helicopter backpack? Or what about riding inside your own mini-tornado?
Also, what about a meditation flying power the lets you zip about in the lotus pose?
Are full body transforms possible? i.e. A flight power where we turn into a globe of energy or maybe even a bird? -
Yeah, PM Zwillinger abou it. He has been very good at clarifying points (when he is allowed to).

Quote:I assumed they always did that.I'm not going to go through this and the original thread to catalog all the flagrant pronoun and hyperbole abuse. I'm just glad Zwill said specifically that they are not only taking into account feedback but also looking into just who posted it, so the standard forum echo chamber of disdain doesn't take effect.

Quote:Here is the thread with the photos from ComicConRight, this thread has got me intrigued and I am off on a search to find pics on this new CoT look. Incase I fail to find anything, can someone please post links as to what exactly has changed about the CoT?

Thats not before implementing it. Thats before releasing it. In order for something to reach beta, a lot of development time and resources have already been spent on it.
-
The problem with that is that that comes very late in the development cycle, meaning if all the feedback you get is "I don't like it" you either have to waste all that time (and money) going back to the drawing board or ignore the feedback because you can't afford to do that. Certainly, most modern development lifecycles favour involvement of the user at earlier stages, through mockups, prototypes etc... rather than leaving the feedback until after the implementation phase.

Something to do with mapservers, according to the UStream yesterday.

All powersets, All costume pieces/auras, maybe some emotes if they are interesting enough. Won't buy consumables/costume slots/respecs etc...
-
Teleport to contact? Thats pretty darn swish.

Quote:This probablem might well be solved via the test server. In the past, buyable items have been free on Test and I wonder if that trend will continue? Possibly with only VIPs having access to the Test server. But how will I know if I like the new powersets if I haven't played them? The ability to play anything (even if I don't want to) is better than not being able to play them even if I did want to, or having to pay for each thing individually only to find out I don't enjoy playing them.
-
Quote:You are seeing things wrong, because you won't be paying for all new content, just some new content.I don't mean to be a damper on things, but aren't I already, as a subscriber, getting a better value than the proposed plan? Like, by a lot?
Current Plan: I pay once a month, get new power sets and costumes and places and missions for free as we update the game (barring packs here or there, or silly things like having to unlock the ability to fall over) as part of the deal.
New Plan: Pay for all new content like power sets individually, or use points which you earn from buying things, along with the VIP fee.
I hope I'm seeing this wrong, but it seems... oddly disproportionate.
For example, in Issue 21, the Time Manipulation set is free to subscribers, as is the revamped early game experience (new tutorials etc...), Powerset Proliferation, First Ward, Some costume sets and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. And they have said that they will continue to launch Issues on a regular basis. And there are the Signature Arcs, 2 new arcs per month which are included in the subscription.
That seems to me to be a pretty descent amount of content, certainly comparable with what we currently get. If they keep that level up, then just keeping subscribed and using the free points you get will net you more stuff than you currently get. With the choice to pay for even more, if you want to. -
Quote:But... The booster pack demanded the same amount of up-front investment as the proposed price for the powersets. If Titan Weapons went on sale today for $10 on the NCSoft store, what would happen? Would players go beserk for it and possibly crash the store? That's not a safe assumption to make. City of Heroes players have historically gone berserk over costumes, multiple times crashing the PlayNC store when a new Booster Pack comes out. If there's any one Store item category that will see the highest traffic, it will be costume items, especially since unlike powersets, these won't demand a large up-front investment.
-
The monetary value of the powersets (at 800 points) is either good or bad depending on what you compare it to and how you value things.
For me:
Compared to buying Going Rogue on a sale for $10? The powersets are very expensive.
Compared to a Booster Pack? Powersets are almost certainly better value.
Compared to the Party Pack? Powersets are the bargain of the century. -
Quote:I'm not sure about that, I think the x5 means you will get 5 of them. And from what they said, I understood it to mean that the booster will increase the level of the enhancement by 1 (like when we combine two regular enhancements).Also... The IO Booster power will (if I got this right) increase the effectiveness of any IO Enhancement it is attached to by x5.
EDIT: though it does seem unclear and I could very well be mistaken. -
Wasn't hate from me, just who I think would be most interesting to kill off. The reactions from the other signature characters (Statesman in particular) would be interesting and there is story potential in someone else getting their hands on her sword. She is also a big name to existing/returning players.
Besides, she will die of overwork once Freedom hits anyway, what with her being the trainer in the only blueside starting zone!
EDIT:
Oh, and if they are being sneaky, the image could be described as a broken longbow.
