  1. I agree that the UI is surprisingly bad, especially since this is supposed to be the seamless heart of the whole Freedom push. You'd have thought that they would have hired in some e-commerce interface people to do it. it is a bit concerning that it didn't get much, much more attetion paid to it during beta. It probably does need a from the ground rebuild.
  2. I got the Barbarian Set, Beam rifle, Hover board and the backpack. and have 30 points left over. I think thats all the new 'stuff'?

Wonder what they'll release next week?

You already have this. You can edit the chat tabs (right click on them) to remove tells, local, broadcast, whatever you want. People will be able to send you tells as much as they want but you'll never see them.
  5. For the Melee Ats, could go for a sword and shield using the Tech looking ones. Maybe a Mercenaries/Traps MM?
  6. Speaking of Requium, we never did find out what was behind that version of him causing all that dimensional chaos in 'To Save a Thousand Worlds'. Or even if it was actually him doing it.

    He says in one mission

    Quote:
You believe me responsible for the destruction that has coursed through the multiverse. I must admit, I glory in it. You will not find me, little hero.
He admits glorying in it, but not actually causing it.

and from the end of the souvenir

    Quote:
You took the flame to Werewolf World and, as predicted, Requiem was drawn to it. You defeated him, and escaped from Werewolf World just before the entire dimension was torn from the fabric of the multiverse. It seemed that Requiem's dimensional tampering had caught up with him. And yet you had to wonder: how had Requiem caused all this chaos? Perhaps he had powers you had never imagined. Or perhaps there was someone else in the shadows, who had not yet been brought into light.
Hopefully all thats going to tie into some sort of storyline at some point.

As I recall, The Battalion were supposed to be an enemy we would need inventions for (i.e. our regular powers would be no good and we'd need some sort of temp powers to defeat them). I think that came from a magazine article, maybe?

    Actually, found mention of it

From the November 2005 PC Gamer:

    Quote:
Accompanying the invention system will be a villain group called The Battalion that is so powerful that you'll need some of the player-made temp powers to defeat them. This group will hunt heroes and villains alike.
Of course, that is incredibly ancient news and no doubt has changed (especially since it was based on the scrapped skills system).

    There already are: The Rikti.

  11. I just had some beers and watched 'Yor: Hunter from the Future' and the beta is still not available. Something is wrong here.
  12. Me! (I'm in the UK). I'll probably check out the store and the Paragon Rewards adn try making a new character to run run through the newtorial.

Lovecraft is a much more specific trope, characterized by Eldrich Abominations or things that are otherwise cosmically wrong. While Lovecraft stories often contain cultists, that is certainly not what characterizes them.

About the closest thing I can get to a Lovecraftian feel from the CoT is that they are very old. Indescribable ancientness was a common theme of actual HPL fiction (less so in the Mythos works of his peers). The game lore doesn't stress this ancientness much - it's just part and parcel of the CoT's story and isn't presented as anything inherently horrible the way I think HPL would have tried had he created them. (And probably with good reason - I always thought HPL was weird for seeming to think that the ancient was intrinsically horrible.)
Actually, I think the idea of the CoT does fit in well with many of Lovecrafts stories, particularly his more early work. There is a theme of ancient wizards having the ability to have some sort of life after death, particularly underground. You have things like 'The Statement of Randolph Carter', 'The Hound', 'The Festival' and to some extent 'The Case of Charles Dexter Ward' (which has some parallells with the story of Baron Zoria) and 'Two Black Bottles' (Which even features some soul stealing). He also liked stories about underground, ancient offshoots of humanity like in 'The Temple' (ok, those were underwater), 'The Rats in The Walls' and 'The Mound'. The Coralax are certainly more obviously Lovecraftian but Oranbega could certainly have turned up in his works.

Of course, he also wrote stories that involved travelling on moonbeams and cat armies on the moon. And sadly had many weird, vile predjudices. So, yeah, he was pretty odd.
  16. These are better, but I hope there are more toned down minions who like more like the original cultists. Overall, its a still a little too spikey for me (who on the art team has the fetish for big spikey shoulder pads? they seem to be turning up a lot lately) and I don't like the glowy belt pieces very much.
  17. For males, I'd probably go with Dr. Vasz and the Clockwork King. Both are eyecatching, memorable and tell you a lot about the character.

The point is, I think, that they shouldn't have to figure it out because its a bug. One that can make starting playing the game a bit more confusing than it needs to be. Which is not a good thing and should hopefully be fixed before what is aimed to be an unprescedented influx of new players.

    Congratulations!

Proabbly give everyone invlunerability and becoming free from disease/disability. And make it so they lose those benefits if they do anything that hurts someone else. Oh, and if you have lost the benefits, then you don't count for the 'hurts someone else' clause.

After that, probably set up parrallel universes based on fiction (a Marvel Universe, DC Universe etc...) and see what happens in them.
  20. I'm actually really enjoying it and am intrigued to see where they are taking it, who is behind it and why. I wonder if the baddies will have a Doctor Who link.
