Actually, the cigar fits this bill. There have long be associations with smoking and 'sexiness' and 'coolness' (so much so that anti-smoking campaigns have been specificly created to traget this idea). Smoking is a stupid idea in general for a superhero, since it has negativ health effects and smoking in battle is ridiculous, the first time you get punched in the face you could choke on it!

The only possible reason to sport one is for poser value.
  2. Thats a really nice idea!

I'd also like it if the UI highlighted colours that you'd already used in this costume, to make it easier to find that shade of blue you used for the hat so you can have matching boots.
  3. It works very well in China, even though I can't download or stream much of anything else.
  4. Just wondering, maybe they are planning to double-dip and have a 'Circle of Thorns Mage' costume set as well, with more of the boss bits?

There will be free costumes in new issues (we got a couple with issue 21).

Also, these are free (as long as you don't want to spent your PP on something else). You get 1 free costume set per month!

Anyhow, these look pretty good. Would have liked a cape to go along with them though. And that glowy belt. And maybe some new glowy eyes/aura.

Also, they really need to put the effort in and make ingame costume sets for these bundles, especially since they are advising us that the character creator is the best way to buy costume pieces.

The difference is timing. Noone thought that when the bought it.

Now you could argue that, despite the offical info never saying you'd keep access to everything for free (just nearly everything), its possible a dev acccidently made it sound like you would in a video. in which case, you might consider that misleading and you might consider that you are reasonably entitled to a refund for the full amount it cost you to convert your VIP account into a premium account, as you did so under false pretenses.

    Happily, that is easily doable.

It might be fairer to players who purchased the expansion under the impression that it would grant them access to certain content without paying a subscription. No such players exist, though.

It wouldn't be particularly fair or unfair, its just something they could do. Would it make them any more money? Probably not. Would it take additional code to just allow access to the Alpha slot (and no trials)? Probably.

So on balance, there doesn't seem to be that much reason to do it.

The relevant question is, based on the information available at the time: Would anyone have bought GR based on the (reasonable) asumption that they would have access to the Incarnate System without paying a subscription fee?

    The answer is no.

Therefore, they were not mislead. Everyone who bought GR can continue to enjoy the Incarnate System if they keep payinng for access to the game, under the exact same conditions they may (or may not) have believed to be the case when they decided to purchase it.

Sadly, retroactive false advertising is unavoidable in the case of Freedom, since everything previously sold in regards to CoH was advertised as requiring a subscription and that is no longer the case.

I suppose people could try to sue NCSoft and force them to charge a subscription again, so the original conditions of purchases are kept intact.

  13. I think, for each 12 hours per month that they go over the scheduled downtime, they should pick a paragraph at random from their story bible and post it in the forums!

I went to Herocon and spent tons in the merchandise store. I didn't touch the costume codes with a barge pole.

Not properly global unlockable, they aren't available at character creation. You have to make your character, log into the game, claim it and go to a tailor.

That wouldn't help the mapserver though. And we know the devs are concerned about load on the map server, its why they removed the instancing from the new low level content (and why they removed the ability to use /auctionhouse from inside missions).

Possibly they would make it more like only 6 map entires per hour.

Is this going to be a common thing?

It doesn't really matter for something like this, which no-one wants, but if you do this for actual good things like powersets, costume pieces, auras or emotes, then I will be really unhappy.

Also, will the ghost pirate costume still drop in the Halloween event or have you removed it to increase its rarity 'value'?

I don't think he/she was saying there would be more concurrent instances, just more instances being created in the same timeframe.

Whether that has any effect on server lag or not, I have no idea, so I'm not defending it as a valid argument. Just clarifying what I think the intent was.
Hmm.. it seems to me the next logical step is to put a cooldown timer for entering AE maps with rewards, for performance issues. So, maybe you can only enter 1 map per 10 minutes (number made up, starts counting from entering the map). Make it an account wide cooldown so people can't just swtch characters (unless they are paying for the privilege by having multiple acccounts that have payed for AE access)
  20. I think this may even be worse value than the original Party Pack, thats pretty impressive (esspecially because its on Sale!)

  22. Hmm... its questionable if zombies would even attack vampires, since they are already dead.

But given that they would, then i think the Vampires (depending on the type)main worries would be what happens during the day when the vamps have to sleep.
