  1. neeehhh... how do you determine that? I haven't really been roleplaying him, if that's what you're asking, but I have no way of knowing whether or not SHE was role playing... hnn...
  2. hm. fair enough points. but I'd at least like to say that I apologize for offending her in any way.
  3. I have an interesting situation.

you see, for the past few weeks or so, I've been repeatedly teaming with a player in City of Heroes called "Alpha Girl" (real name removed). for the past week or so, I've wondered if said player had a crush on me. today, that was answered, in a string of questions that I will lay out for you approximately, excluding the talking about the alternate dimension gangsters we were arresting.

me: hey, Alpha, for the next few fights could you not heal me? i'd like to see how well I survive.
    Alpha: sure.
    later...
Alpha: hey, can i start healing you again?
Me (not really needing it): well, whatever you think is best.
    Alpha: no, please tell me!
(this part is a little hazy in my mind, but it's the gist of it)
Alpha: I want you you want me here!
Me: look, there is really nothing you can do to make me not want you here.
    Alpha:
Alpha: do you speak from your heart?
Alpha: I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked that.
Me: asked what? nothing you said offended me.
Alpha: i asked if your heart beats for me.
    Me: ah. I misunderstood
    beat
Me: quite honestly... no. it does not.
Alpha: aw, well I appreciate your honesty
Me: It's currently occupied, and also, you're likely way older than me.
Alpha: that really hurt to hear.
Alpha quits team, i don't notice
Me: not that you're old! it's just that I'm young.
    notices she quit
looks in friends list and finds her name gone
    (Private message to Alpha): Alpha?
    no reply
I try again. she's logged off.

the whole thing has me feeling terrible over it. I can't Find her to make things right, but I can't in good conscence let the matter be. we've become good friends over the past few weeks, and I don't want that over.

what does the infinite wisdom recommend? I only ask because you're the only chance of actually finding her I have.

    please don't maul me.

    I'm too pretty to die
  4. I know te following about him:

he's a godlike being who eats universes. Galactus is a pansy compared to him

    he's over 14 stories tall

he attacked our universe in the 1960's, but was trapped in the shadow shard by the Midnight society

he is split into 7 aspecs, which all make up his whole.

But... other than that SOMETHING went down in the 60's, I Can't find SQUAT about the possible end of our universe altogether. did he take all record of it with him or what? how did the heroes BEGIN to fight a GOD? that could bichslap ATLAS (mythological atlas, not the hero atlas)? how many heroes died, how heavily did this influence history? and why did his forces onl invade in 2004, roughly 40 years after his imprisonment? where is he now?
  5. well, I've felt generally "meh" about trials, as my only experiences with them were bad, in both respec and Abandoned sewers, but those were probably due to bad planning more than anything else. the other day I played the Eden trial, and I was blown away by it. a single setting, yet pleanty long, with a basic challenge: get to the end and beat up Mr. big. it was reallyno more complex in terms of mission objectives than a newspaper mission, but it was on such a grand scale! the Lake of Acid! the mile long caverns! the elaborate honeycombed area in th first room! the carcasses of eons dead leviathans! this thing was huge, and SERIOUSLY delivered both in terms of challenge and fun without needing byzantine knowledge of how the thing worked. I ran the Respec trial like last year, so I don't remember much about it, but it too was edging towards that.

I propose more trials in the spirit of the Eden trial, HUGE, awe inspiring places worthy of recall, with some prize lying at the end of it (i.e. a 10 story tall monster made of diamonds. could also be robot, demon, dinosaur, etc.)

I keep hearing pleas for more task forces, but have yet to hear anything about more trials. why is that? they offer the promise of a straight-up superteam smashing through a villain's evil cheme without having to work your way throug his entire org chart first, or consistently fail to do anything meaningful to stop it. as funa s the ITF is to play, the first two missions are... um... kind of useless in story terms. what's the distinction between a TF and trial, anyway?

    Praetoria trial?
    Nemesis Trial?
    5th Column trial?

    Tunnels

I just recently ran the eden trial for the first time, and THAT is a lot like what I mean. someplace really big and epic, with the promise of something magnificent waiting below, only add in stuff to give a slow reveal about what that something is.

I'm not saying the Eden trial should become an open zone, I'm just saying that THAT'S the scale I'm thinking of. when the rooms are so big, no matter what you can do, you feel like you are doig something HUGE.

(imagine a version of the tech maps where, aside from all the basic stuff, you'd occaisionally find something really weird and cool. revenant tanks abandoned and broken open, a fusion reactor hidden in a natural cave linking off, a massive PRISON cell for a monster that wouls put Lusca to shame. same goes for oranbega)

EDIT: REALLY, oanbega needs tofeel more like a city. there are already underground buildings, but none of them have living quarters. just a few walls honeycombed with holes for sleepig in is all I ask. or maybe some chairs.
  8. thank you! I THOUGHT I had seen that someplace!

oh, and ARE EB's normally soloable? the only character high enough to fight them is my tanker, who does a fair amount of bamage for an EM tanker, and is REALLY good at soloing
  9. ok, since Reach suggested it, here's my Arc for critiqueing. my review of "crown of Iron, Heart of Steel" can be seen above.

    Circuit Breaker {Fathom, Part 1}
    Arc ID: 139682
    Custom mobs, so 20-54
    heroic
    1 AV, one EB
technically soloable, in that I soloed it on a tanker. and said tanker's build was NOT good.
    4 missions

When an anonymous Genius hacks into Longbows database, Agent Drive contacts you to find who is responsible, before they can set into motion a plan that threatens to engulf the planet.

this is the first arc of many who will be featuring this villain in some way, and I have the sequel up, "(In)Justice {Fathom, part 2}" if anyone wants to see it. I'd appreciate it, as the second one hasn't yet been played (if you do play the second one, please alert me of any bugs or errors that I may have missed).
  10. I'm friends with her, a toon on triumph, but I'm afraid I might have upset her. I can't find her on my friends list since, so I can't contact her. if anyone does see her, tell her that Sundiver's looking for her, and perhaps direct her here. thanks. I like to keep friendships intact
  11. heerm... was it a forum faux paus to do it the other way? you may see that I posted the arc I wanted reviewed first, then later reviewed the former arc suggested. should I re-pos to cut dow on possible confusion?
  12. that one for matchstick women is incredible. ENVY!

and thank for doing this, storm (or do you prefer soul? or maybe "my liege"?)

    open missions

    fingers crossed, rab.
  14. I think the real question is "how long will it take for the first DP with all the core TF's?" considering that level isn't really an object any more, I tend to look a badges more.
  15. but can't it use the code to make the villain spawn as a same-level EB for everyone?
  16. techbot:

great idea! but when would it be that the contact window comes up? right when you enter a zone? How do you sight a gang of trolls from through a wall, down twenty or more feet, and most likely from more than 50 yards away? if you can, you either have batman level deduction, spiderman level instinct, or Superman level eyeballs. and not everyone is a pinnacle of senses.

    Robot event

gneh... phrases from a giant nazi robot? that could stir up some controversy. amongst just about everyone.

unless you mean "the 5th column is forever!" or somesuch. sorry, I mean "ze fifth Column ist forever!" (do nazi robots have german accents?)
  18. in some arcs, missions lead from one to another without talkin to the contact (i.e. the tina mission where you get a mission on a te minute timer after completing another one). why isn't this done more to give more of a feeling of autonomy?

even if oter ideas of mine like open missions and random missions, I'd like to see chained missions more in any future content, and maybe worked into previous content. tis gives more of a feeling that you're making decisions for yourself, and putting two and two together. when you find the mailing address in a warehouse to where Nemesis shipped is new super weapon, do you really need to go back to Max Christopher and ask him is it's ok to go? HE ISN'T YOUR COMMANDING OFFICER, you're a superhero who HE alerted about something dangerous in the works.

the contact system can be compared to Batman's deal with commissioner Gordon, but what we get is the impression that our "Batmen" (batmans?) wouldn't sit in a puddle if our tights were on fire without a thumbs up from some police officer who strangely neve does police work (I'm looking at YOU, officer hasn't-moved-in-5-years Wincott. and every police scanner contact)

    thoughts? ideas?
  19. what kinds of villains should be used for these, by the way? standard Rogue isles fodder? I'd prefer guys who ae more of free agents, frankly. but the game tends to love it's armies of minions... most likely theyd have situational minions, guys they eiher hired off the street or mind controlled, maybe a crew of stolen council robots, whatever.
  20. DoctorParadox

    Random missions

ok, true enough. like a never ending terra volta, where you're defending the macguffin that will complete your plans?

perhaps at level 50 you end up fighing the entire freedom phalanx, plus vindicators.
  21. DoctorParadox

    Robot event

I fall into the structure point camp. while it could look kind of silly to see a giant robot hopping around on one leg, it would be awesome to blow off one of a Rullaruu-or-larger sized robot's arm and watch it stagger from the blow. also, all over the thing put tank sized turrets, or maybe just on the shoulders. tha would give it some independant ranged attacks without it needing to pointit's huge arms. being able to damage the laargest amount of heroes at once would be something the 5th would value.

also, what would trigger the attack?
  22. /signed

for both existing animations and DP, if it wouldn't be oo much work for the devs. it would make for less disciplined heroes who make stuff up as they go along (spiderman style)
  23. DoctorParadox

    open missions

i glad it's being recieved so well. does anyone know how hard this would be to code?

another question: should he missions be at set levels, orshould they adjust to you like normal missions? on the one hand, the prior would give definite places where heroes could use backup rather than just wanting to team, on the other hand, whole zones ofthis sort of content would be rendered useless.
  24. DoctorParadox

    Jack Emmert?

I've heard a lot of bile about former lead dev statesman. what made him such a hated individual? I can't find anything specific anywhere.
  25. and what would the story be?
    who would play your character?
    who would direct?

I'd make a film of my main, Sundiver, telling his origin story, his arrival onto the heroic scene, as well as the first confrontation with a time traveling warlord. Sundiver would draw the majority of the villain's fire while the military strikes at weak points, but it ultimately falls to Sundiver to defeat the opposing army of robots.

actor: I really don't know enough actors to havean idea for who could do this. I'd hope someone somewhat like superman, but with a less statesmanlike demeanor. faces don't really matter.
