  1. sigh. Add me to the list of people that have issues. At first I got this

    Error Code: 3 (PatchPathNotFound):
There was no way found to patch from version '1.5.1.0' to version: '1.5.25.1'.
The patch servers are most likely in the process of being updated.
Please try again in a few minutes.

I went back and noticed that the old launcher had left some files in my computer when I uninstalled it a few months ago. I deleted the old leftover file and the new launcher started to load correctly.
  2. well dang. I did read it and forgot to add the last line of "No thanks. I like it how it is now" to my post.
  3. The reason the powerful things like shivans are there is because of the extra risk of PvP. Take away the risk and you end up with an overpowered reward for the area. To keep the balance of risk to reward, you would have to weaken the rewards without the risk of PvP there.
  4. Well, there two names I've been wanting to get for a couple years now that I know are held on accounts without a global. I don't have trouble finding names, but I'd really like to get them to rename toons I have.

It's a shame if good names are on accounts that are dead. A simple /getglobalname can show if there is a chance of it being used still or not.

Yes, that's how it works. Any account that doesn't have a global name has not been used since before they added in global names. After the 6 or so years since they added globals, it's a safe bet that player is not coming back. They really should free up any name that is held by an account without a global. Not just the ones under 35.
  6. When they added in global names, the name of the first toon you logged in to became your global name. Any account that doesn't have a global name is one that hasn't been played since before they added in global names and channels (have not logged in a toon so no name has been given.) If I remember right, it was something that was added around the time CoV came out so people could stay in contact with their friends no matter what side they were on.
  7. I hope they don't do away with the CoH launcher. I stopped using the NCSoft launcher because all it did for me was add an extra step to the game loading. I can see how it would be nice for people that play several NCSoft games though.

Rotating the level 50 TFs would be enough content for a month and a half, if they include the new incarnate TFs near the end.
In reading about the WST, I wasn't able to find anything about incarnate stuff being the point of the WST. I saw where it gives a once-per-week double merits, bonus to XP, and Rare “Notice of the Well” Incarnate Component. If the only reason for the WST was the incarnate stuff, why would they give a bonus to XP? Seems to me that they were trying to make sure the WST has something for everyone. Extra XP for those that have not hit 50 and the incarnate component for people that have no use for XP anymore.

Unlike other games, Coh isn't about just the endgame. They are always adding in content for all levels. The WST plays right into that. It gives extra bonuses to all levels, thus giving something to everyone and not just one group.
  9. Personally I hope they mix more of the lower level TF/SFs into it. I know the Alpha is the newest shiny, but it's not the only reason to play. If it was, why even bother doing anything other than farm your way to 50.
  10. What sounds like a stupid idea to you may be a very fun idea to someone else. Personally I would love a BRB to play with when things are slow or I'm board with running missions.
  11. hmmm... See what happens when you post after not sleeping all night? For me I type Spectral Terror in place of Spectral Daemon.

It's on the list, so yes.
  13. I noticed about a week ago in a CoT mission that some of the Spectral Terrors would turn after I hit them and attack other mobs in the area. Unless I hit them again, they would ignore me. I know that it wasn't a confuse effect because the toon I was playing doesn't have any way of confusing a mob.

There is no need for this. You need large groups to do both of those. The more people an event requires, the higher the chance that you are going to have leeches. Let's not even get into the fact that there are not that many people that could gather enough people they can trust for a closed run like this. Such a feature would be useless for most of the player population making this a waste of the Devs time.

Secondly, it lets me quickly identify the indignant churls that are not worth consorting with on Virtue.
A friend of mine did this for the same reason you did. The bubbles gave me motion sickness and sometimes headaches. I enjoy playing with my friend, but I don't join their team when they are playing their bubbler. Bright colors may make it easier for you, but remember there is someone playing that now "vision-offending color" toon that may have their game experience ruined by your actions.

I think it is funny how people who warned of this were told to sit down a shut up because they didn't know what they were talking about. A month after launch people were demanding their money back from their lifetime subs.

    Team Dynamics

There are few things in the game that can't be done with any mix of members. About the only thing I can think of are very small teams going against a Giant Monster, or one of the tougher AVs. Even then it's only trouble if you don't have some kind of buff/debuff going on. A quick call out for help and you'll have help on the way.

I love playing my so called weak toons. My defender only pulls out the heals when things get a bit too wild. Most of the time people just don't need them.

However, there are others unwilling to put forth their mind power *unless* they get some other fix out of this..

More than once you missed the point I and other have made about this issue. I don't think that changing some buffs to be a toggle is a bad idea, but buffs like Speed Boost that many players don't want would be forced on them just because there is a Kin on the team. The 'fix' to make buffs like this a toggle would create new problems that the devs would have to deal with. To say that this is unrelated to the OP is false. It would have to be looked at before any such change could be done. What is the point of bringing up an idea if we brush aside any talk of possible problems with the idea. I added a possible solution for a new problem the toggle idea would cause. I was not trying to mix other ideas in. I was adding my "mind power" to the idea to help iron it out so there wouldn't be need of many patches, nerfs, or extra re-balancing.

Now take a deep breath and don't act like anyone questioning something you say is trying to attack you. Reading through this thread shows me that there are many people trying to work together on this idea.

Yes, of course you'd still have a lot of casting of the power, but you can better designate your time if applying a buff added to its duration rather than refreshing its duration, i.e. if you can buff everyone at the start then catch 2 allies between each fight instead of stoping to refresh them all after the 3rd fight...
The only way I can see people going for this is if they add in a way for people to remove (or block) a buff. I know I'd quit teams if the kin got carried away with casting SB. I have hard enough times trying to explain to them now that I don't want SB even though it does have some good things in it. I'm just not a fan of bouncing off walls because someone else can't respect my request.

So people do not think that is gauged?
Then don't bid that much. It's as simple as that. Place a bid for what you are willing to pay and go do something else. There will always be people that can't wait so they overbid on something. Heck, I've made over 2 bil from the market just by crafting IOs and listing them at my cost. I list for the same price that anyone can craft it for and more often than not someone shows up and bids twice my listing price. At no point did I force them to pay that much. They just had to have it now and paid more than it was worth.

I got rich from selling to the lazy at the price they chose to pay.

Not true. I did it with a level 11 with just IR and Ninja run. Knowing the course and where the things that can slow you down is the key, but it can be done. Without Ninja run, then your level can play into it.
  24. I was able to get the gold with several seconds to spare using just Ninja, Sprint and one IR buff on an un-enhanced lvl11. The trick is to keep as low to the ground as you can. The more time you spend in the air, the more time you lose. You slide faster than you jump.

    Vet Reward Idea

Not overpowered, nice QoL item that isn't a 'must have' for gameplay... I like it. Very good idea for a vet reward.
