    Hmmm - won't travel suppression make that impossible? As soon as you activate a power, won't Ninja Run suppress? I'm really curious about this, because if it DOES work, then it's time for me to roll a Shield using character! Can anyone confirm one way or the other?
    It does suppress. But I think what he's talking about is just the run toward the badguys already looks like you're about to shield bash them all... and then you do with SC. Looks quite cool. I have a shielder. But what's way cooler than that is how BS is held to the side while advancing. Going to take some screens in a few. Some animations also look badass with pistols...
  3. Swift + Mental Training + Sprint (all 1x for Run Speed) + Ninja Run matches my Widow's previous speed for SJ. I don't get as much vertical, but it's enough for most applications. I've respecced out of SJ to use it as my main travel power.
  4. OFFICIAL FEEDBACK GO!

    I ran three teams and did the event three times. First run was completely blind and we didn't have anything to go on other than GF telling us to open presents.

    RUN ONE:

    We got a WL spawned pretty quick. He was no issue to take down, and we earned 2 merits for it. He then summoned a giant present which we all gathered around because we didn't know what else to do. The timer got us all eager for whatever was about to happen. After the timer we were met with a new zone.

    Initial feedback is that this zone is way too foggy. Was really hard to navigate and see all three times. Also doesn't have any landmarks or anything so it turned out to be hard to call out happenings to other teams. We also didn't understand at first that he phased and we'd have to find the extras.

    After some people started realizing what was going on, we were quick to jump on the mini GMs. We all noticed early on that the GMs didn't give merits. The big one gave 6 so this didn't seem like an issue at first, but becomes one in the third run. We had about 3-4 teams in total and we had no problems taking him down.

    RUN TWO:

    Second go at it was pretty smooth as well. We had fewer people but we still had no problems spawning the initial GM and then entering the zone to get started. Since some of us knew what we were doing this time, it was a very quick run and we were able to jump on the mini GMs and take down the big guy rather fast.

    I experienced some detoggling here, and also got hit by the 100 mag hold. Being on a Blaster the hold didn't bother me, but the detoggling took off my armor and Tactics. While I don't have as much experience with it, a friend told me that the detoggling was annoying more than it was a challenge. She didn't like having to look at her toggles along with buffs and health bar. I have no real complaints.

    RUN THREE:

    Third run we didn't do well at all. We only had two teams total. Possibly less, because our team was at 8 with one dropping later on, and someone on the other team said they had 5. There may have been a third team, but if so they didn't have a full 8. It took us longer to spawn the initial WL, and the box timer was 6 minutes.

    The issue we had was not enough people. The first two runs had at least 3 teams and everything went real fast. With just the 1.5-2 teams, we didn't have enough people to do it. We slowly struggled through the WL's HP and got all the mini GMs down and were working on the last of his HP. This is when we noticed there was a hospital here.

    We saw a notice that the zone was closing soon. I wasn't aware there was a time limit until then. Since there is, there should be a timer. We were shooting in the dark and didn't realize we were racing a clock. Please add a timer to the nav bar so we know that the zone is going to close.

    In the end we didn't make it. We got him down to about 5% and we all got booted out of the zone. The bad part was that because we didn't kill him, we didn't get any merits. We killed 3 other GMs and worked his HP down by about 95% and didn't get any reward for it. Please consider revising this somehow so it's not an all-or-nothing reward. Perhaps the mini GMS can all give 1 merit each, with the big guy giving 3, for the same total of 6, but without failure being a total loss. And maybe break up the candy canes too.

    LAST NOTES:

    Ultimately it seems like this event can't be done with less than 3 teams, or at the very least 2 really good teams. Perhaps consider extending the time limit, because it definitely can't be done with what we had on our third go, and pretty much all our people were level 50. So 2 teams of level 30s or so won't be able to manage this. They need more time, or something else to help them out. You may consider making this a co-op zone, because I heard redside had issues getting enough people as well.

    So to recap:
    * Less fog
    * More time
    * Add a visible timer
    * Break up the rewards

    You guys are apparently farther along on the tech than [Walk] had me believe. I see your [Ninja Run] with all powers in tact! You sly devil!

    Does this hopefully mean we'll get some cool new run animations in the near future?
  6. I've been really cranking numbers and trying to move stuff around to find a power to remove on my widow. I think now I can safely remove SJ and rely on ninja run. She has a fast run speed already thanks to Mental Training, and if I combine that with Sprint she should run quite fast, with just enough jump height to get over obstacles (I have a jump pack otherwise).

    Other than that, my monkey character has spent the last hour just jumping and flipping because it's so damn cool.

    I haven't seen all the costume parts yet, but some are pretty good. I may end up using the shoulderpads and gloves. But I heard someone say you can't use the belt without a robe? If that's true... can we get that changed?!
  7. Can we get a list of pieces added like usual so we know where to look?

    Sometimes players have good ideas, and sometimes bad. Sometimes the good ideas have few supporters and don't gather much attention. Sometimes bad ideas have a lot of people rallying and agreeing. It's nice we have a dev team that's devoted to giving the players more or less what they want. Especially for those of us who existed in the "my vision" days.

Same with Kinetics, Sonic, and Cold.

    If you don't want to buff people, don't play those sets and you have no worries about a timer dictating your actions. It really is that simple, if you don't like it, don't play it.

    I don't like spending my time buffing people, so I don't play those sets, it's worked out pretty good for me so far.
    Actually... I pretty much DON'T play those sets. My post was saying that I sort of half-agree with the OP. It is kind of annoying... but I'm not going to rally for a change because I know the counterarguments to those changes and think they hold at least some weight. I'm not here saying "I play these sets; I hate them; change it," I'm more saying "I don't play these sets; I might if stuff changed, but meh." In fact I tried to make sure I conveyed a neutral tone that said neither "CHANGE NAO," nor "CHANGE NEVAH," to avoid comments like this one!

    I don't think it's a selfish outlook, either. It's not like I DON'T do my job. I have a 40 Thermal I mostly duoed, where the buffing is way more tolerable. I like to think I'm a GOOD Thermal. I buff everyone with shields, I rotate Forge, I debuff baddies and top people off with heals. Sometimes this comes at the expense of my own attacks, because I prioritize keeping other people alive. But my point is, I don't find that fun, so I play other toons instead. If I DO play that toon, I do it to the best of my ability; I just don't enjoy it. If that's selfishness... I'm baffled.

    I wouldn't waste too much breath on Venture, especially if you start trying to mention flexibility, customization, or options. It comes up a lot in AE threads. Something about how having less flexibility automatically makes things better and the players are more creative and imaginative and intelligent. Like, for every custom unit you add to an AE arc, the worse the story is by default, and that's why the filesize should never increase. Although he probably wouldn't mention it in a thread like thi--

    And to tie merit rewards to difficulty, so we stop getting annoyingly low merit rewards from people who zip through on +0, when some of us enjoy doing +2 (or in the future, +4), but don't enjoy getting crappy merit returns as a result.

    Tomohawk, as a battleaxe...no. It's too small for Battleaxe (I've already tried it, looks silly).

    Coral club and Elder knife...not sure if both sides have access to those villain groups. They're too signature to no have as unlockables.

    Arachnos Pistol seems reasonable. I'll see if we can't get that in for Dual Pistols.
    The big ice sword doesn't really have any unique qualities that distinguish it from any other ice sword. It's still just a sword made out of ice. It's not special demon ice or anything. It's just in a shape that, for whatever reason, players haven't thought to do. After giving Earth new skin themes, I think adding a new model for some other sets is very much within reason. To me that sounds about as silly as saying we'd have to unlock the crystal theme for earth powers by fighting Coralax. What's wrong with just... having it?

    Any thoughts on ring pommel saber and the Knives sawblade? They're generic enough that they could be available freely. But even if you decide to tie them into an unlockable, both sides have about equal access to the gangs that use them. I'd love to swing that sawblade around.

    That's a great reason in theory, but in practice it's pretty weak. Even when you do get those really cool and unique powers like Rune of Warding and Loa Bone, you think it's cool for maybe two uses until you realize the power is practically useless. You end up with a bunch of temps that have base accuracy, pretty unimpressive damage, and secondary effects that are really specific and useless (like the Rune of Warding). Result is more that you feel like they made a cool effect and wasted it on something that most people will never obtain, much less use.

    Looking like Psychic Scream doesn't make Wave Scrambler any less useful. And keeping Rune of Warding unique doesn't make me use the power. What am I going to do with it? Attack enemies that only exist in one zone and do a little bonus damage, assuming it doesn't miss because it has base accuracy? I'd rather just stab them. I'm more inclined to pick up all the weapon-based temps to showcase how cool some of them look than to actually USE any of them.

    There's still a precedent for temp weapons becoming available in other ways. Vet rewards allowed us more long-term access to some powers when we can make the most use out of them (at low levels). So it's not all about keeping the powers unique. Sometimes cool stuff can and should be available in other ways.

    These are hilarious ideas, but for the wrong reasons. I'm not sure I even want to touch the hammer for stone one.

    The Jurassik car concept can only go two ways I think, and both are laugh-worthy. One is the thing keeps it size and not only dwarfs every character who wields it, but totally destroys all sense of animation sync. The other option is that it's small and you end up carrying around a toy car. Though the odds are approximately zero, I'd love to see either one of those for the comedy factor alone.

    That's not really what I'm talking about. You said right there that if shields are dropping, you rebuff... That's what I mean. I'm not casting a bubble because now seems like a good situation for a bubble. I'm casting it because the previous one is wearing off. The "good situation" to have a bubble in is all the time.

    With something like Dull Pain, I can leverage my other powers and inspirations and decide if it's worth it. If Forge is up I can consider my targets and cast it on someone I deem worthy. If someone needs healing I can pick between my single target or AoE, and sometimes even "the big heal" if I need to. I can't do that with shields, because the appropriate time to use a shield is all the time, when it starts to wear off. I don't get to say "This particular situation calls for a bubble on the Tank!" I don't decide when to use a shield, the timer does.

    It's a good question, and one I've struggled to answer myself. After all, I don't like casting shields but I don't mind healing people. I hate resummoning Voltiac Sentinel every 90 seconds, but doesn't bother me to recast Mind Link.

    Maybe I just hate casting powers to keep them going just because I feel like I have to. I'd much rather just cast them when it's appropriate to use them. Then again, that doesn't explain Mind Link. Or Hasten and Active Defense and Rage that I run all the time. Though I hate Rage for other reasons.

    Maybe it's that I hate dropping everything to rebuff people. But that doesn't explain healing. In fact, that has to happen more frequently with healing than with buffs.

    It could be that I hate watching timers and having to think out how long I have before I have to reapply. And watching things start to blink and call me into action sucks.

    Maybe it's that I like to see immediate results. That again doesn't explain Mind Link. And also doesn't explain debuffs. You can't immediately see the effects of a -DEF power.

    Could be that I hate the long amount of time it takes. Compared to something like a quick Mind Link, bubbling an entire team and keeping Frostwork or Forge up on 2-4 people is very time consuming.

    May also be that I like to use things that feel like they need to be used at the time. When I bubble it's just 6, 7, click, 6, 7, click, 6, 7, click... It's more fun to click around and cast the heal that seems appropriate, and put the debuff on the enemy I think needs it. But I also have toons with fluid DPS chains that I don't deviate from, and they don't bore me.

    Could be that I just dislike the CONCEPT of the powers. Like maybe in my head I believe that buffs should cast quickly and last a long time, and since they don't, it bites at my mind and makes me hate the powers.

    Possibly the answer is that rebuffing and resummoning pets feels like busy work. I really hate having to resummon a pet every 90 seconds. With so many other pets being infinite duration, it just bothers me that I have to keep watching my icons and make another one, when really I feel like it just shouldn't be necessary.

    To answer your question, I have no idea why shield powers bug me when most other things don't. It could be some, or all, or a combination of those above things. It could also be some extra thing I didn't think of. I can't justify it or explain it. It just is how it is. Just as it's hard to explain why you like a particular style of music. It just sounds good... and you like it. Or why green is your favorite color. It's difficult to put into words.

    I have tried to go to other servers in the past make characters mid day and just broadcast SPAM to try and get a sewers team together over the span of an HOUR sending EVERYONE in the zone a tell seeing if they want to do a sewers team.

  20. 24 something. Although I prefer to do them at max difficulty. I got to enjoy a +4 ITF before the ability was taken away. I look forward to doing +4 ITFs, LGTFs, and LRSFs in the near future. I like to speedrun, but I also like it to be challenging. Speedrunning on +0 is boring. Speedrunning on +2 was fun. Now I want to speedrun on +4.
  21. I hate single-target shields. It takes sooooo long to buff up a team, and I have to recast them every 3-4 minutes. It's even more complication/annoyance when I have to upkeep other powers like Frostwork or Forge. I usually just end up recasting them during battles which is boring. It works on my Ice/Cold Controller because all her stuff is long recharge and after I do her basic volley I can just sit back and buff. But that's no fun.

    I'd much rather have powers like World of Pain and Mind Link that just hit everyone and are done with it. I would love for the single-target buffs to have a much longer duration, or be AoE. But I also know the reasons and logic for not changing those things. For now, I just find those powers to be so dull, and I don't really enjoy playing the sets. Some people might, so I'll leave them to it. Until something changes, I won't be rolling any FF, Thermal, Cold, or Sonic toons. But I can get along without having those.

    There's actually A TON of crap that's in the game that's not documented anywhere inside the game itself. I fear for newbies who are leaping into things like IOs, or heck even regular enhancements, not knowing what stuff does. I have some newbie friends that I have to explain things to, like ED or how accuracy/ToHit works, or what beginner's luck is, or or how defense works.

    Honestly I think there should be an in-game popup in big yellow/orange/red letters explaining that what you're slotting is not going to do anything thanks to the rule of five. Something like, when you go to slot that 5th piece of Red Fortune, you get:

    NOTE: Slotting this bonus (5% recharge bonus) exceeds the "rule of five" in which you cannot have more than five of the same type of bonus slotted on one character. You may continue to slot this piece and benefit from the enhancement increases, but the set bonus associated with this enhancement WILL NOT contribute to your character's stats.

    Obviously pretty wordy. Not my department. And might be "too late" if someone already bought stuff and is slotting it. But it's better than nothing. Though I do agree it should be in a tutorial somewhere.
