She's a team-oriented Controller with useful powers like Dimension Shift, Sonic Cage, and Recall Friend, which she uses at every opportunity. She also has Grant Invisibility for all the Tanks who need it.

I've done that to myself as a prank. Also suggested it a couple times here on the forums. I very rarely get any use out of the power, so I felt it would be better off as a joke to play on myself than to do anything serious with it.

    Ninja Running

My one hope with the ninja run is that it's the start of something new. When we got costume change emotes, it was the start of something new. We got a bunch for free, and started getting them with pay packs. I hope that we start getting more run/walk animations. Not as many or as often, since it'd be crazy of me to suggest that considering how ninja run has to interact with so many different weapons. But something. Hopefully then, the worries about ninja run being too ninjay will be placated with some more universal run/walk animations.

My other hope is that I don't have to wait until mutant pack (or later) to be able to run/bound on all fours!

    Do you think...

It's too hard to see what my hand looks like with all those flips and bounces.
  5. Really? So assuming he has enhancements, a Blaster at +350% does the same damage as a Blaster at +400%, even though his combat attributes will change and not show as such? If true, I've played 3.5 years without knowing that. vv

But if the booster is really good, like the magic and martial arts packs, then they are ripping us off by withholding the good stuff from free release. They cannot win really.
This is really a recurring theme around here. But in all fairness it happens everywhere. For instance, if the devs add new stuff like Walk, they're wasting their development time. If they don't, they're ignoring the player requests.

Truth is, someone's going to be annoyed and complain no matter what. There isn't a thing the devs could do that wouldn't be met with at least one complaint. Hopefully the devs are aware of that and have the thick skin to take the bashing. I think most people are pleased with the new pack. That much should be clear by sales and all the people I see bouncing around Cap.

Enhancements are a whole different animal. They're a different type of boost over what +DMG does.

For an easier comparison, just open up your combat attributes and monitor Damage Bonus. No amount of basic enhancement slotting will make that anything but 0.00%. But if you do a set bonus that gives +3%, or use BU, it increases.

A Blaster's cap is 500%, which includes the base 100%. So your Blaster won't top out until your damage bonus reads 400.00% (and turns blue to indicate it's at the cap). This is completely independent of enhancement damage.

    EDIT: Sc00ped by Agge!

Pretty uncommon. They only exist in certain level ranges, and most people avoid Circle anyway.

I'm not sure demons are the best unit for winter events. But it might be nice to fight a giant Frosty with a top hat and carrot nose. Something different than Snowlump #41032 anyway.

I know that. What I'm asking is why the duration of the effect changes whether it's science or natural. If a human is exposed to deadly radiation that gives them superpowers forever, it's science, but if a human is exposed to deadly radiation that gives them powers as long as they're in the beam, that's natural? The origin story itself is what should matter, now how long they keep the powers for. Either way, it's deadly radiation, drugs, sunlight, or crazy gas giving them the powers. What does it matter how long it's for?

And what if it gives them powers for 30 years and then stops? Science or natural? Five years? 30 minutes? 18 seconds? Where's the cutoff?

EDIT: Anyway, soooo derailed. I'm ashamed at myself for still doing so. Please continue with kung fu!

Huh? Where exactly does the "one time vs constant exposure" part factor into whether it's natural or science? I've never heard that reference in-game. If it's there, I missed it. I've never considered whether they only need it to happen once or all the time to matter. Does it really matter if their powers come from a scientific on-switch or a scientific feeding tube?

That's the head-scratcher though. In theory if there was some gas on a far away planet that gave humans super strength, would that be natural? I mean ANY human that gets exposed to science-gas gets superpowers. So that's natural? Is Hulk natural cause you could take any human and expose them to that radiation and they'd gain powers? Are Trolls natural?

To me, it's not natural BECAUSE there's an outside source involved. Any Kryptonian can gain superpowers, but not without a yellow sun. In the same way that any human can be a Troll, but not without Superadine.

There's an outside source which is causing the powers, and that outside source is either going to be magic, science, or technology. Inside sources are mutation and natural. The way I rationalize them, anyway. Not saying that's correct or even canon; that's just how I consider them when I make new characters.

Why am I still derailing this thread with Superman's origin when I said I wouldn't? vv

I really doubt the majority of people desperately want to use a dictionary, thesaurus, and foreign language translator when they create a new character. I really doubt that the majority of people are so happy with the name selection that they'd put up with a clumsy hyphen, period, intentional misspelling, foreign language usage, and less visually attractive system in exchange for the ability to have a good name.
Actually, I doubt the majority of people even have to. Do you really think there are that many people that absolutely refuse to settle for anything more creative than "Iceman" or "Death" or "Kitsune" ? I've only had problems getting a name ONCE in my entire 3.5 years playing this game, and this is on Virtue where there are billions of toons and a lot of players. If you want, here's my list of characters:

    Victoria Noir
    Luna Desani
    Mender Sissolie
    Kigi Kidate
    Gemelle Sable
    Tesla Jin
    Tanya Atta
    Tomatre
    Itsumi Charr
    Lithium Fog
    Sudona Forte
    Hurricane Lotus
    Meru Itsumi
    Texiel
    Riley Tiranis
    Dispari Scuro
    Xanthos Theta
    Ardent Black
    Vicious Mitsu
    Savage Mitsu
    Veloce Morte
    Courgette
    Kaimana Keahilani

You'll notice one or two of those do actually have words from other languages. But to be honest, that has nothing to do with an inability to get a name. It's more my innate inability to come up with a name. Not one of those was a result of me trying a name, not having it, and having to "resort" to pulling out a thesaurus or online translator.

You'll also notice none of my toons have really dull and boring names like "Widow Chick" or "Necromancer" or "Firekin." And why would I want them to? Is not the point of a name to have an identity? Do we really need to open up the gates to appease people who want to name their character "Meow Meow" or "Puncher" ?

Is it really anyone else's fault that someone is so dead-set on a boring name like "Doctor Evil" that they refuse to consider an alternative and add symbols or spell it weird? We're in a world where heroes and villains are registered. In the same way it doesn't make sense to license 5 different restaurants all called McDonald's, why would we want 30 people all named "Vile" or "Neo" ? Do we really need to put effort into allowing people to be more uncreative and unoriginal? Is it really the devs' fault if the person just doesn't care and names their restaurant "macd0nalds" ?

Now, people are going to be boring and lazy no matter what. People are still going to go for names like "r4yvn" even with our current system, because they don't feel like giving their name any serious thought. And really, more power to them if they can stand playing a toon with that name. But I'd really rather not have to stomach a new, complicated system just so "catgirl437" can become "catgirl"

You see, my experience is based upon talking to people both in game and in real life about this. I never assume, as you have, that the majority of our gaming community regularly posts on these forums (or reads them, for that matter). To assume that, as you have, would be very self-centered and bold... don't you agree? (you don't have to answer that, it's rhetorical).
I'm curious where you even came up with the idea that I assumed the majority of our community posts here on the forums. Or even that the forum presence is an accurate cross-section of the playerbase. I certainly never said anything to suggest it.

What IS true is that this particular topic almost never comes up, forums or in-game. If popularity or followers meant anything, stupid changes like raising the level cap would be far ahead of this particular topic on things devs would do based on popularity alone.

Truth is, I talk to people in game and in real life about this stuff too. And I've maybe heard someone complain about getting a name on a couple occasions tops. Your mileage may vary. It may be that I play on Virtue where people put more thought into their characters, and thus their name. I can't say why it seems to you that a majority of players are simply fed up with the inability to get generic names like "No Mercy" or "Radiation Man." But none of the people I know and talk to are so dull that they want those names to begin with.

  16. I've gained 160 rep since the comments were shut off and I have no idea why. And if I've gotten any negative rep I don't know about it. vv

I tried once to do the recommended "search through all your old comments" thing. I looked through a whole page and didn't find anything tagged as having rep. And that's not something I'd do more than once due to how time-consuming it is.

Maybe not. But even if we assume there's a further 50% hidden and otherwise not visible, those are pretty low numbers.

On Virtue right now at 8:00 PM CST, redside, I have 310 people. That's at night, on a weekend night. It's usually quiet on Saturdays because people are out and about.
  18. It's a lot of powers for one. And as I recall the scroll-down feature didn't appear until after i16 launch. That's a fairly good sign it'll happen eventually, just not necessarily right away.
  19. Niv clarified that it's the natural pack.

Each of the Super Boosters so far have represented an origin. In most cases this may be a niche representation or narrow view of that origin, but they still do each stand for an origin. That's part of the reason why I think after we get mutant, the cycle will start over with Tech II.

Wedding and Mac Pack have not technically been super boosters, but rather extras that have a different theme. Remains to be seen if we'll get more of those in the future.
  20. Nice! I haven't yet made much out of the new parts. I plan on using the gloves on at least one outfit eventually (after the skin texture bug is fixed), and I've used the shoulderpads on a couple. I want to use the robe you have going there but I haven't figured out what to use it for yet.

Also, +rep for wielding different weapons. I always liked that concept but I rarely see it explored when I run into DB toons.

0.46. It's a travel power, and is treated as such (being exclusive with CJ), so it's not recommended to use in combat. More power to you if you can, just that's clearly not what the devs had in mind when they made it.

Even if you are right, having a large following has never guaranteed that something will be done. If it was, we'd have merged servers and pure respecs because those come up all the time and have a lot of followers. More often than this does, in fact.

The devs don't and wouldn't just mindlessly add something because a lot of people support it (often without seeing the whole issue). Additions have to be weighted based on the amount of work they'd be to add, the usefulness of such an addition, and the repercussions of adding something. In this case, there are a ton of reasons not to go through with such an addition, arguments on why it would be a problem with for lot of people, and a lot of valid points on why this really isn't a problem to begin with and not worth the time it would take to implement.

Not to insult you, but glossing over this entire thread, ignoring all the counterarguments, and making a blanket statement like "Naw you're right, they're all wrong, it'll happen," without anything to back it up is pretty darn bold. Not to mention really self-centered. What evidence do you have that the devs would want to, or need to do this besides the fact that you and another couple guys on the forums think it's a good idea?
  23. Didn't we already have this thread with B_I who kept dismissing all the examples of costume parts we got for free as not counting?

  25. Bug I found. Others may have mentioned it.

The Tai -> Tai Skin glove for females is using the male skin texture. As a result, there's a cutoff line where the normal arm ends and the new texture begins. It also looks overly hairy/veiny/muscular and doesn't look good. I bugged it in game. I encourage others to do the same, so we can get it fixed ASAP. I really wanna use that glove.
