I have characters sitting on Lore pets they no longer want/need because we got new Lore pets. I have characters sitting on Alphas that are no longer desirable since we didn't know what the highest tier bonuses would be. And I may have characters who switch to the new powers that just came out.
I don't like having spent time and components on things I'm never going to use that I can't do anything with. Even if I could break them down into a fraction of their original worth, that would at least be better than the complete uselessness they are now. -
From an optimistic viewpoint:
Every week that has lame items on the store is a week I don't have to question if I should break out my wallet and buy points. My free points get invested toward future buys.
I prefer this to something I'd want to buy on a weekly basis. -
Considering just the t4 Victoria bot can solo AVs by herself (not counting the lieutenant, not counting that Cims do more damage than that), that's not saying much.
-
Just came through to say I love all the gloves and boots in this thread. We need more thigh-highs and long gloves.

Why are you people acting like heals and buffs are mutually exclusive? Why would you ever want to have just one or the other? It's like arguing over whether it's better to have lungs or a heart.

Quote:At level one you fight demon summoners and people connected to the netherworld. As you progress the first five levels or so, you fight magical cultists and hordes of Hulks. That's because the threats "level" with you. So at level 1, yeah you're just fighting Hellions and Skulls, but by level 50+ you're fighting insane demigods and archvillains who are drawing upon the same power source as you, only they're better at focusing it.
At level 50 you fight dudes with guns who kick you. And more guys with more guns. And guys with steam-powered popguns. And chicks with swords. And people with no superpowers who have swords.
What. -
Quote:Titan Weapons has end consumption of epic proportions. Physical Perfection offers recovery that's only half of what Stamina gives.I find it odd that for end management advice you'd jump to something only available at level 50, and fail to mention Physical Perfection which is available much sooner.
Trying to fix TW's end usage with PP is like trying to stop a boat from sinking with a band-aid. -

My DS/Pain is a pretty strong healer. She has a VR Spiritual and +25% healing bonuses from sets. Her Share Pain is 909 HP.
Of course I prefer her +RES buffs and damage buffs over the heals, but she can heal when it needs to be done. She can support tanks on Recluse, which is kind of cool. Since her pets can attack towers while she does that. -

Quote:I'm not sure how this applies at all. For one this is PvP. In the game you're competing against a character (the computer) who doesn't care if you "cheat." The computer also is not going to spend money to beat you.Tell you what next time you play chess, well in your case checkers why don't you try rules where you and your opponent can buy pieces as you feel you need them. You wouldn't buy from each other of course but from someone who is standing nearby laughing their head off. If you want to go for the advanced version he can put marks on a few pieces that let you move them in new ways, for a small additional charge of course.
Edit: If you want to go for the really hardcore version of this game, periodically he can come over to the board wreck your positions and charge you to put them back to the way they were
And how often do the devs wreck the game and make us pay money to fix it? -
Quote:They are? Where's this rule written? And who wrote it? Tons of games these days use a DLC system. Tons of games have expansions and content and bonuses you can't access without paying extra. Tons of games come with special pre-order bonuses and perks. In fact pretty much all the most popular modern games have stuff you pay for.You totally miss the point. CoH, last time I checked, is a game, and games are generally supposed to provide a level playing field where cash doesn't provide an advantage (F1 and the Yankees notwithstanding.)
Heck, just our FTP model gives advantages to people who pay money. Are the devs obligated to give us everything for free because "it's a game?" -
Quote:This is already the case. And performance is optional. You could've made the case that "winning" isn't optional if you could actually define "winning" as anything that made sense. But "pay for performance" is how the game already works, and how everything in real life works.Fine. If you want to play semantics and get tunnel vision over the wording that I used, let's call it "Pay for performance" instead of "pay to win". Is that a more acceptable term?
You can get to work in your Honda Civic just fine. If you want to pay for a Corvette you can. If that's not worth it to you then just enjoy your Civic. Nobody requires you to have a Corvette. -

Devs said in the past they'd love to do a beast summoning set but never had the models. Now inexplicably they do. It's completely possible the models aren't ready for use yet. But this is one of those teasers the devs are so fond of doing.

That depends on how many toggles you run. My widow runs 7. She would use up end really fast if I didn't have her IOed to the gills.

I'm genuinely curious what people's definition of "win" is.
You can do all of the content in the entire game on just SOs. Hell I'm sure you could do the majority of it without enhancements slotted at all. So what exactly can't you win at without IOs and buying stuff?
Is the definition of win to solo AVs or solo x8? Because you can still solo AVs and stuff with Incarnate powers. The Victoria bot can solo AVs by herself. You don't need IOs for that. Much less AT-specific IOs, or purples. Or enhancements at all.
So what exactly can't you win at without IOs? Soloing LRSF or something? Because damn, you mean to tell me all this time I've been paying and I haven't even won yet? -
I know, right? I recall the set had +3% DMG and something like +7.5% recharge. The global bonus was either DoT or fear (the texts disagreed). Either way is fine (but I'm hoping for DoT). I'd also like to know if those bonuses only apply to the power they're in, or all powers.

Quote:This... is a really cool idea. A Mastermind who is a suit on autopilot that your pets theoretically hop in to drive when necessary, or leave on auto when not.A traveling base and attack tank for a group of shrinking Mastermind Mercenaries, who enter and exit the base freely and "drive" it around for travel purposes
I always liked "you're the pet" themes. -
Soul in a jar! The best mix of technology and magic. In fact maybe there are like a dozen souls jammed in there. Maybe you use them as fuel. Would make a good villain. Although I'm imagining someone running around with a butterfly net and a jar catching souls now.
Ooh, maybe one of the TW models will be a net. -
I know someone was doing DP/Time on the forums and using Time as a sort of bullet time effect. I could see that working.

Quote:It's possible you had a predisposition or talent for those things. I, having come from other MMOs, already knew the ups and downs of MMO combat. When CoV launched and warned everyone not to start with MMs because they were complicated, I said "pbbt" and made that my first villain. And it was easy to play because I had done pet classes in other games.Ok...I never did that. Or had to know any of that....sure I learned it because eventually you just do, but I found the At completely straight forward and just perfect.. Just like I never found controllers at all frustrating or unsoloable. With Doms though it's control, Melee, Range, debuff, buff, and everything else inbetween. To me next to a Veat, it's the Villain AT with the most options. (Again...this is just how I feel about it.)
Truthfully the only AT I ever had an issue soloing was an emp defender...and I knew it would be the case.
Some people whose first experience with an online game may not be able to adapt to Doms and other non-standard ATs so easily. Or even grasp the concept of mezzing enemies right off. The most straight-forward ATs are melees and Blasters because all you do is attack things until they die. Which is as easy as pushing your power buttons. -
Devs have said they've wanted to do a beast mastery pet set but never had four-legged rigs in the game before that could be animated. There's an animated wolf in the new Halloween trial though. So the rumor on the forums is they'll get around to doing a beast pet set at some point now.
