I have a friend who binds - to shout "DUH I PRESSED MINUS." He always ends up hitting it instead of 0 when reaching for powers, and the default is to change his tray which throws him out of whack for a few seconds. So he just started binding that. Even after three years, it's still funny to be in the thick of combat and then my friend shouts "DUH I PRESSED MINUS"

I think the loyalty program was a good idea, and did what it was designed to do. The system gave people three different ways to get into the beta. If you didn't apply to one, you have other options.

Fretting over a badge is pretty weak, though. There are plenty of badges you don't have and probably will never be able to get. This whole system wasn't about the badge, it was about the beta, with the badge as a side effect. Badges were never meant to be all obtainable by everyone. If you don't qualify for the badge, you don't get that badge. It's just that simple. There are things that you might not want to do, like PvP, or never get to do, like report a severe bug. This is one of those things.

I'm a badge hunter myself, but I've accepted that there are badges I'll never be able to get. The earlier you accept that and deal with it, the happier you'll be. It's not worth getting angry over a few bytes and pixels on your computer screen.

The first post amuses me, “Thanks for being loyal!” Loyal for what? Being one of the people, who managed to get this badge because you didn’t have finical issues, had a flub with your payment or maybe you were just bored with the game. You know I was standing in Went’s the other day and saw this player with a pretty cool character, so I clicked on his or her information and guess what? Six months of game play and they now have the badge that guarantees then a space in Beta. Excuse me? You want a six month player in an expansion pack looking for bugs?
Yes, this is a fair system to me. They announced ahead of time what would qualify someone for the badge. You had to stay subscribed between two dates. They announced it far in advance so as to allow people to make reservations.

Having a flub in payment is underestandable. Having a flub that lasts a couple days is not. If you're really "loyal" and play the game, you should've noticed right away. Or at the very least, known when your time was going to expire and made sure it was handled. As for people who are "just bored with the game," well that's not very loyal is it?

My heart goes out to people who have financial issues. It really does. I've been unemployed for about two months now and I have no money. My account was set to expire the day before the cutoff period. I got a 15-day time card from a friend who wanted to make sure I'd be in the beta. They're like $6 or $7. I know not everyone is having good times right now. But if this stuff means so much to you and your friend that you'd have to make a hate post on the forums about the system, you could've found a way. People go through different things, but we all have our priorities, and if this is a priority to you, you can make it happen.

As for that person who only played for 6 months, what makes them not loyal? They joined, enjoyed the game, and played for the time limit required. You may view that as imperfect because someone who just joined gets a reward that they may not even be aware about, but no system is really perfect. I'm only about 3.5 years into the vet reward system, while a friend of mine who has almost never played the game at all has about 5 years worth, just because she had a card on autopay. She's not exactly a loyal fan, just a lucky person who paid some cash.

    Quote:
And of course this whole thing about if you’re having issues getting the badge contact support. Many people are in line waiting for a reply back. My friend had to wait almost three days for a response. Guy has been here a very long time, has all the veteran badges. They told him, “Sorry, you don’t get the Loyalty badge because you missed a few days do to a payment mix up.” What? That’s not considered loyal, having 66 veteran reward badges? He does not care about getting Beta Access, he is upset because he is a badge nut and that's one less badge he will never get.
Like I said above, your friend needs to deal with the fact that this system was about beta access and not the badge. I'm sorry if your friend didn't get the badge due to the lapse, but he's still in due to 66 month vet badges. If he doesn't care, that's not the devs' fault. He's looking at the system in a way that it wasn't designed for. He's asking for rewards for stuff he doesn't qualify for. He's asking to get badges that he doesn't meet the requirements for.

And honestly, the reason it's taking 3 days to get back is because people like him who know they don't qualify are clogging up the system trying to get it anyway. I've already seen another post or two in this thread for people who know they don't qualify but are sending stuff anyway. That's why they're backlogged. A friend of mine who legitimately got missed on the reward sent hers in, got a reply in about 24 hours, and got her stuf.

    Quote:
Am I bitter about not getting the badge? Sure. Am I leaving over it? Nope. Even if I did get the badge, I would still be here ranting about how dumb this program was.

They put 60+ veterans as the next in line for Beta access. They could have saved themselves one hell of a headache and did a program to where if you received the 30 month veteran badge between August 15th and November 15th you get the Loyalty badge and a third spot being in Beta access. That’s considered being loyal, not a small three month span time.

That would have been simple, easy and eliminate a lot of folks being upset they did not get it and have to wait days to get a response back from a GM, telling them “No.”
Loyalty is up for the devs to decide. Maybe you don't think that time frame is loyal, but I do. The devs are getting ready to release their first real expansion. What they need right now is subscribers and money. If the devs say "jump" right now because they need us to so they can release GR on schedule, those of us who are loyal will say "How high?"

The devs decided that they wanted people to be subscribed between two dates to qualify for the loyalty program. Maybe you don't like it, or don't "consider" it loyalty, but that's how they defined it, and that's how it is.

This wasn't a Jack move. This wasn't someone telling us one thing and delivering something else. It wasn't us being promised something that never happened. It wasn't them waiting until the last second to tell us some awful truth. All that happened here is you and your friend saw the rules, didn't qualify for them, and decided it's unfair. There are no malicious developers wringing their hands behind their desks at all the people who didn't qualify.

I'm perfectly certain they'd rather you did qualify. But they aren't going to give people rewards they don't meet the minimum requirements for. They aren't going to give everyone who is upset at the system Bug Hunter either.

Can't meet 1700%, but 1200% isn't that hard. And that's not counting the HP, RES, or DEF you get all the time.

You forgot to mention how we can now set missions for up to 8 by ourselves, turn off bosses if we want, and fight up to +4 enemies. In any missions, not just AE. It seems like now is a good time to be a farmer.

  8. Part of the issue I think with the dimension shift powers is that even if you assume it does a good job and mitigates damage like it's supposed to, you can't hurt the enemies until it wears off. Obviously if you could shift them and still attack that would be sort of overpowered. But if I was to do anything to shift powers assuming they have to stay (which is likely), it would be to make them into toggles with max time limits put on them.

The good of this would be that you can shift a group of enemies on demand, and then unshift them as soon as it becomes necessary or beneficial. I've almost never seen or used shift powers (except for one of my joke characters), but I can attest that it's annoying the instant you kill the spawn around a shifted boss and then intend to kill him, but can't. Or shift a large number of enemies and then can't do anything until the timer wears off.

The bad of this is toggle mechanics that would probably not work without some tech changes. I vaguely recall hearing that duration of a toggle isn't something that can easily be changed through slotting, meaning either the duration of all phase powers would have to be static and enhancements would disappear, or some new tech would have to appear first.

Though, the end result is that these powers would still be pretty poor. They still wouldn't be usable for much, because an AoE shift would force you to attack the maybe one or two enemies that didn't get shifted, and then turning it off would pretty much restart the fight. So it wouldn't really accomplish anything. You gain total mitigation at the cost of not being able to do any damage, so there's no real point. A single target shift might still be useful against bosses, EBs, and AVs if only to kill the spawn around them, but it probably wouldn't make these powers see much more light than they do now.

The changes that Arc and I suggested, even combined, still wouldn't make them the kind of powers you'd want to throw on every spawn as often as possible. They'd still be quite situational powers that you'd usually only use in emergencies, that most people would happily skip.

This is the source of much love/hate with me and Brutes. I don't particularly enjoy the fury mechanic. I hate trying to watch it and jumping into a spawn with no fury and trying to decide if using a power is worth it or not.

However, done right, Brutes are just superior to Scrappers. I hate to have to admit it, because I really like Scrappers. But of all my 50s, I have more Brutes than anything. And toons over 30 as well. I've made some failed Brutes, but the ones I stuck with are better than Scrappers of the same sort.

Defensively Brutes are better. They just are, numerically. Brutes I have go over the Scrapper HP cap, or over their RES cap. Even with other sets, the Brutes just have more HP, heal for more, and regen for more.

Offensively, as long as a Brute has high fury, the damage is outdoing a Scrapper. I think it's crazy that Brutes are better defensively AND offensively, but that's how it is. I believe the highest damage dealer of the melees should be Stalkers, then Scrappers, then Brutes, then Tanks. But it was designed in a skewed way so that Brutes are far higher overall, and Stalkers far lower overall.

Competing for aggro can be an issue as my EM/WP Brute can tell you (she's one of the failed ones). Having more than one Brute on a team can be problematic. Scrappers stack better and get that "start high" ability, but for the types of toons I play, the kinds of teams I run with, and the sort of content I do, there's no way a Scrapper could beat a Brute defensively OR offensively. Not that I don't still love Scrappers.
  11. With all due respect, I think that's just because those characters are evil, and red, black, gray, dark blue, and dark purple are often colors associated with evil.
  12. The damage ratings are pretty much arbitrary. Minor might mean it's the first attack in your chain, or might mean it does 1s at level 50. Minor could mean it does 72 damage (Fire Melee Scrapper) while Moderate for an MM means 30 damage (Dark Blast).

The recharge times are really vague and inaccurate too. Slow can mean anything from 8 seconds to 40, while moderate can mean anything up to 10. Long can go up as high as 360s, while very long can start as low as 60 and go up to 1000. 2s can be called fast or very fast. Fast is even as much as 10s in some powers.

Pretty much one of the reasons why we got real numbers.

Anyway, I always found 250 inf to be kind of insulting. 250 inf is pretty pointless to just about anyone. I know it would be a bad idea to give out tons of free cash no matter how you look at it, so I'd rather see something else. Anything but 250 inf.

I actually play with one hand on homerow (left), and one hand on the mouse. The way I play, I can actually do everything I want using just my left hand. I don't need the mouse to move, jump, turn the camera, or use any powers. I keep all my powers comfortably on 1-6 and alt+1-6 for ease of use. The only time I have to stop to use the mouse is to hit a glowie or a door, and sometimes if I'm using a toon with Shield Charge or Lightning Rod.

Point being, I can play a whole mission with just one hand, and have done so for years. So I agree with MI; doesn't matter if she does it one way, as long as it works for her.

    Pylon soloing.

Has anyone managed on a Widow? I tried on my soft-cap Widow with a build that had Aid Self, but she'd be hit often enough and for so much damage that I wasted way too much time healing myself and my DPS dropped so far that the Pylon just regenned. She was just taking way too much damage when hit, and her piddly 1400 HP was dropping so that I had to stop and heal every time, sometimes twice.

And it's not like I was on a low DPS Widow, since she has 2 procs in each ST attack while still having full damage, plus +45% global damage, before Follow Up, with a fluid attack chain.

I would try again, but I went back to her old build which has no Aid Self and has BU rather than FU, since it works better for what I do with her. She can still DPS fluidly and for pretty high damage, just probably not as much as stacking FU.
  22. As far as the procs go, there are two ways that they work.

The first is that the proc triggers on the target of the power. A lot of the older procs will do this, as many of them are tied to attacks. For instance, if you take the Achilles' Heel proc, it will apply the -RES to whoever you hit with the attack it's in. The good news is it's not possible to apply that to yourself or a friend.

The bad news is that not all procs are as lucky. The Energy Manipulator set has a chance to stun that can be slotted into an EndMod power. The result was people putting it into Speed Boost and stunning allies. What ended up happening is the power was flagged to not work on players, meaning it doesn't work in PvP.

Another example was what happened to taunt auras. Technically speaking, while all of the badguys around you being taunted are targets, so are you sometimes, such as with Invincibility and Rise to the Challenge. The result is whatever procs you put in these powers that hit the target will hit enemies as well as yourself, dealing damage or stunning you. The ability to slot these sets was removed.

The other type of proc is one that explicitly targets the user of the power only. The new "accurate" sets were designed this way on purpose. The Analyze Weakness proc gives +ToHit. Since the target of a -DEF power is always going to be a badguy, the proc intentionally only applies to the person using the power, and ignores his target.

The downside to that is it can never be used on your friends. For instance, you can slot a Chance For Build Up proc from the Gaussian set into Tactics, but it will only ever benefit you and not your teammates. The upside is you can never accidentally give someone you're trying to kill bonus ToHit.

Granted, the usefulness of being able to trigger a proc on an ally is pretty low. In all the powers you could possibly slot the Performance Shifter proc in, the target of the power is already getting +end or +recov, at which point the chance of +10 end is pretty underwhelming. I can't think of anyone who's hit with Speed Boost who says "I sure wish I had just gotten 10 endurance," especially considering it's totally random whether it goes off or not.

Personally, I'd like to see the end proc set to only work on the user and not the target. Most of the procs are already set to act this way. And with such little benefit from being able to use it on allies, it would be better if it was adjusted so you could use it in better ways. For example, in the way the OP suggested, which is to slot it in Electric attacks. It's not just about being able to give yourself end when you zap someone, but also the ability to 6-slot for bonuses without having to give your enemies endurance while you attack them with powers that drain their endurance. Plus, the bonus here would be that kin users get to grant everyone around them recovery but not themselves. If it was changed, they could occasionally get +10 end when they SB someone.
