That alone is enough of a nightmare to make figuring out the animation aspects a secondary concern.
I don't think that stuff is so much of an issue. For technical and gameplay reasons it can be handwaved with "it just works." If you like you could just throw on a magical explanation. So-and-so cast a charm here so powers work underwater. Even fire! Cool eh!? I think the real issue is animation.

You can't just use existing animations with everything if everyone is underwater and swimming. Flying isn't swimming. We'd have to have every animation in the game redone to include legs kicking and hands waving. Every movement would have to be done as underwater, not just the stiff levitating animation that flight uses. Every attack animation would need to be done with legs kicking to sustain your current height.

Of course, having an underwater zone would also invalidate every travel power but teleport. You can't run, jump, or fly while underwater. Not to mention there's already a large number of powers that require you to be grounded to use, that wouldn't work in any area where being suspended in water is a requirement.

Some of those issues would be alleviated by an actual space/moon zone, but not all of them. Now a low-gravity moon zone with oxygen would probably work fine...

Well, at least you're honest about it.

  5. I have all the packs, and I'd rate them:

    1) Magic Pack. Not only does this have parts I use on almost every character, but it has a useful power included with it. I use the long gloves and bolero very frequently, and I get a lot of use out of the high collar cape.

    2) Martial Arts Pack. Most of the joy of this one goes to NR. Not only is it fun and flashy, but I've respecced a high-end toon to rely on it, made a new toon who relies on it, and have already planned to rely on it for my DP toon come GR. The costume parts too are pretty good. I get use out of the shoulderpads and have used most of the others, including the swords.*

    3) Bridal Pack. Oddly enough I use this one a ton. Lots of people skip it or say it has too little stuff to be worth $9.99. Heck, even I don't use the tuxedo or the veil. But the female patterns are too good to pass up, being some of the only detailed tops and bottoms you can get. Not to mention they go great with some of the other costumes, especially the Magic Pack.

    4) Valkyrie Pack. I have a valkyrie character, but I find most of the new parts way too gaudy to use. I also hate the big bulbous joints. I do however get a lot of use out of the small shoulderpads, as well as the belt, sword, and in a couple instances the headwings. I occasionally get use out of the mission teleporter when the game wants me to go to Dark Astoria or Mercy.

    5) Cyborg Pack. I don't have any robot or cyborg parts, so basically the ONLY use I get out of this pack is the shoulderpads and very rare use of the power, which I tend to use more as a travel power than anything else. I think I've used the belt once or twice, and I may have used some other parts for AE units. But very sparingly.

    6) Mad Scientist Pack. The ONLY use I've gotten out of this is occasional use of the scale changes. I don't even use it dramatically; I don't play male toons, and going from female to huge is just too weird (especially cause of the voice). I've only used it to make my scales more uniform. And I've never once used a single costume part. They're all too bland, and there aren't even that many of them.

    * = I do have a couple qualms about the Martial Arts pack. The shoulderpads I like to use clip with THEMSELVES, and the belt is only usable with robes. There's also currently a female skin texture bug with the tai gloves I want to use. Jay and crew are supposedly working on these issues and some others, so once those are fixed I'll be quite happy.

It hasn't happened with other boosters?

The bolero fur clips with any long hair style. The sleeves clip with any non-standard glove style, including the witch wing gloves provided in the same pack. The long gloves will clip with the player's exposed elbow, which can be somewhat alleviated by having a tight or top w/skin top that extends to the elbow. The high collar cape will clip with just about ANY shoulder option available. And there were other problems before, like the bolero+cape/bolero+wings issue that was not only causing huge clipping but also concerns with processing requirements. That was on release, but later fixed.

And the few major issues there are with the Martial Arts pack are still being looked at, so it's not as if they don't care and don't intend to change them because "ha ha you already paid!"
  6. Generally speaking, having Hasten perma doesn't immediately unlock a bunch of bonuses.

I was building my Widow a while back and decided to devote extra slots to Hasten so I could have perma-Hasten. I thought it was the coolest idea ever. After consulting with a friend and looking over the build, I found much better uses for the slots. What I was doing was building for perma-Hasten for the sake of perma-Hasten. It wasn't allowing me to do anything new. ML was already perma and my attack chains weren't changing.

So look over your powers and ask yourself if the few seconds on Hasten are worth it. Are they allowing you to do something you can't do right now, or are you just doing it so you can say you have perma-Hasten? If the latter, you can invest those slots elsewhere.
  7. Silly but simple bug:

    /e kneel does not work.

I asked my whole VG and not one of them can make it work. They're in different locations and doing different things. /e kneel simply does nothing. Please stop with the senseless nerfs, devs.

It's just a brown-tinted tights option. I use it on a couple toons and outfits.

It's a great alternative to fishnets when you want some leg accessories.

EDIT: Also, I made a winter outfit for my main character using the bolero. I think it looks pretty good:

But I realize the current software limitations of the way costume items interact with our characters and the problems that occur with clipping. I would be willing to accept a more liberal allowance of items with the default acknowledgement that if I tried to do something extreme like martial arts in a long skirt that it might look bad. I could live with that limitation if that meant I could have long skirts with any character, especially characters that I choose NOT to do martial arts with because I have enough common sense not to try that.

Basically it bothers me that we are denied certain costume items simply because they are not 100% "perfect" clipping-wise. I want to be able to have more control over what my characters wear even if that means having to put up with a few scenarios or combinations that might cause problems. Ultimately players should have as much freedom as possible to decide what looks good or not.
This is how I feel about costume parts and color customization. Sure the dev in charge might not think it looks good, but I feel like that should be our decision. If we don't think it looks good, we don't have to use it.

On the other hand, I KNOW there would be a thread saying "Why doesn't the long skirt work with (animation)? Fix it now!"
  10. My friend did a 49 second run with IR with Walk toggled on. So no, don't think run speed does anything.

  15. I've actually noticed this with AE missions lately.

    1) I run a 1-54 mission, as a level 50, set to +2. I'll fight level 52s.
    2) I crash out and star is passed to someone else.
    3) Logging back in, the mission is now setting us both to 38, regardless of who has the star, or their actual level. The mission now can't be completed because we're 38, fighting 52s.

Has happened on more than one occasion.

    That's a pretty funny point.

Maybe he didn't do it to be helpful, but to be a jerk and show off just before he died. He didn't have anything else to say. Maybe he just wanted to go out with "SEE? I RULED AT THIS!"

I won't debate "popular" since it's pretty obvious black fire (black everything really) is popular. What I will debate is boring, interesting, creative.

I see dozens of powers colored black every day. Mostly black fire. Doesn't turn my head cause it's so common. I do however occasionally see someone with a color scheme that makes me double take and compliment them on it.

    For instance:
    1) Radioactive fire; Thermal colored to match Rad Blast
    2) Pale green "mystic" fire and electricity
    3) White-colored spines to look like protruding bones
    4) Differently colored sonic buffs that blend the musical scales smoothly
    5) Dark purple Plant Control to be deadly nightshade plants
    6) All the cool combinations of colors that Phantom Army can have
    7) Blue, red, and yellow Energy pompoms used with /e jugglemagic
    8) Earth Control colored red and green to make a blooming crystal flower with immob + hold

Three of those are mine. Try and guess!

"Superior" is quite debatable, but so far I've only seen one person using radioactive fire, while I could go count 10 using black fire if I made a lap right now!

That being said, I could still easily see it going either way.

But 2 new powersets vs multiple zones..... The new zones are far bigger than a few new powersets.
Pretty empty compared to CoV, is what I'm saying. And we're not comparing 2 powersets vs multiple zones... We're comparing CoV to GR. Both have several new zones. Both will probably have a bunch of costumes. However, GR seems like it will have 0 ATs (vs CoV's 5) and 2 powersets (vs CoV's several). What I'm saying is they're unlikely to make that difference more significant by not including new powersets with the expansion.

I don't use the "bat wing" stuff either, but I still think the magic pack is the best one to date. I'm even the one that uploaded the pics to the wiki.

I don't have any witches or use any of the parts that have big wings coming off them, but I use:

Witch Skirt: One character (generally I dislike this skirt though).
Witch Bare Top w/Skin: On 2 characters.
High Collar Cape: At least 3; it's fantastic for magic themed toons.
Magic Bolero: On at least 4 characters.
Witch Tight Gloves: Countless, because it's the only arm-length glove.

Really? I get a lot of use out of the bolero. It works as both a magical robe and a formal coat. I use it on my Widow like above. She's a classy lady who wears fancy clothes. You know, when she's not killing people.

So? Our existing skirts do that. And tails. And hats.

The only things we have that obey the laws of physics are back options. And we're only allowed one of those.
