  1. So wait, you're saying the reason we can't have personal storage is because there's no risk vs reward?

Fixed. Devs never cared about regular farming. They did however care about people going from level 1 to 50 in a couple hours, with zero risk.

This is no different than any other tool. You can pick up a gun, or hop in a tank, or grab a katana and technically be able to use it in some fashion, but to be able to use it expertly requires training. The degree of training required can't be a factor in whether or not something is technology, because using something as low tech as possible like a knife or even a staff (or heck, your FIST) requires training to be able to use it on what you call a "hero level."

Requiring training to be able to be all Matrix with dual pistols doesn't make pistols technology, because you'd have to undergo training to be able to do that with any weapon. And although you could swing it the other way and say a super-advanced mech suit or jetpack that requires NO training to use makes it technology because it's so advanced, that would also mean a jetpack that DOES require training to use doesn't qualify as technology.

God can you just imagine the outcry from all those that complained to get AE changed if bonuses and rewards in the real game were based off effort and risk also?
    1) You still have to travel to the missions, even if it doesn't take very long, which it definitely doesn't in Saint Martial. Travel time with AE is zero, and fully predictable.

    2) You still have to kill at least the enemies in the final room, which for some maps is 3-5 spawns, out of the player's control.

    3) You can LITERALLY create AE missions that complete as soon as you step in the door. You could make a 5-mission arc where all you have to do is zone in and out 5 times. You wouldn't even have to MOVE.

I wish the devs would have put more work into its appearance.

So WP is powerful, but all characters I see playing it look like crap when compared to my characters. There is no point playing a character that looks like crap.
It's not that they "didn't put work into its appearance," the minimal graphics is intentional because it's a "natural" set that uses the character's willpower and not supernatural powers. In fact it was also because all other sets have that huge visual appearance that they wanted something to give natural characters who didn't want to glow like the sun.

Two of my WP toons even run with with NoFX these days.

Steadfast is like 10m tops on either side (unless you're a buy-it-now person). It's very affordable for anyone bothering to get any sort of IOs. In fact it's one of the best IOs in the game for cost/benefit.

I'd add the effect to Stun and Total Focus. Stun would be changed to a targeted pbaoe, similar to how Thunderstrike behaves. At level 50 on a tank Stun would deal 30 damage to the targeted foe, and have a 75% chance to deal 30 damage to all foes within 10 ft of the targeted foe (including that foe). It would deal a mag 3 stun to the targeted foe and a 75% chance for mag 1 stun to all foes within 10 ft(including targeted foe). Stun would also deal 15% of your hp in damage to you and also -75% regen for 10 seconds. Recharge and endurance cost should be similar to Fault.

Total Focus would be changed to a 2.33s animation and reduced in endurance cost to 11.86 and deal 5% of your hp in damage to you. Damage dealt would be the same.
So basically you want it to be essentially as bad as it is now, but also help the enemies kill you faster. Got it.
  9. I only have a couple toons who can heal. And really I don't usually play buffers.

My Necro/Dark has most of her powers colored black/purple. Essentially they still look more or less the same (dark shadows), just with a purply flair. Her heal and rez, however, are black/red. So yeah, might annoy the OP since my heals are red and not green. But it's a vampiric/undead sort of life siphon, so red works out better. Also, her Darkest Night is black/green so it looks like a sickly fog.

Um, I know I made my Thermal's powers all look like actual fire, so no green healing flames. I didn't mess with my kin. I probably won't change Pain any -- I plan on doing Demon/Pain for GR. My Cold Domination girl's ice is a faint white, so still looks like ice, just easier to see through. I didn't change Traps any except to make the FF purple. I think that's it for my heal and buff toons.

Granted, I might be biaised because I'm afraid six months for now we'd see tons of terrible builds on the forums.
I feel this way too. I take a different approach when I do IOs. I have a sort of system I go through:

    1) First step, I pick the powersets and travel power I plan to use first without any consideration into IOs. For instance, I made an Elec/Invuln Brute with Fly. I can't even use Hover/Fly in combat because of LR, but I have them anyway because it's the character concept that matters, and that character flies.

    2) Then, I plot out a non-IO build that has basic slotting for everything which includes about 5 slots for attacks and anything else I need. If I have spare slots they go into things like Stamina, extra slots for long recharge attacks, or miscellaneous things. If the build is too weak on slots, I can it. If it has lots of extra slots, I put heavy thought into actually making it. Thankfully, /Pain, /Traps, /WP, and /Invuln are all fairly friendly.

    3) Within those parameters, I work out IOs and shoot for meaningful bonuses. All of the powers I chose still have to perform their intended role, meaning attacks still have to hit 95% damage, armors still have to be slotted, and any other power picks I made have to do what I got them for. I also have some requirements on powers, like powers need to have at least 130% accuracy after all is considered, and toggles need to have at least 70% end reduction. That's just personal preference though.

I don't make builds where I have unslotted Tough or Jab, or HPT that has no +RES slotted into it. As such, most of the builds I see posted sicken me. My builds maybe aren't the most efficient out there, but I have a soft-cap Invuln Brute, a super-powerful Widow, and a Blaster with 35% ranged DEF, and I like all three of them. Also for that reason I don't usually post my builds, because I don't like to explain or justify my decisions. I build for concept, then powers, THEN IOs.

Technically the opposite of Fold Space would be to teleport allies near you to random places on the map.

...Now THAT would be an awesome tier 9 power!

Hey, it sums up my thoughts.

I'm happy with the game, in general, the way it is. Not that I don't have a few comments here and there. And although I love new stuff, I don't expect the devs to work through Christmas. We're getting a new holiday event, which is enough for me. Personally, I don't have "expectations" of devs so much as an enjoyment when we do get stuff. So less like they're obligated to give me things, and more that I play what we already have and am just happy the game is going on six years and we're still getting quality updates.

So here's to five more years of CoH! \/

Pfft. Honestly? The damage is really high, it autohits, and he never turns it off. I had a lot of trouble fighting him with a Crab because his CotN would wipe out my pets almost as soon as they were spawned. I also had to joust because standing near him not only meant high damage tics of dark damage that never missed, but also my ToHit was reduced by an insane amount.

All the other stuff compounded makes him crazy, but just the CotN is enough to make him a huge pain in the butt.

Can you really gain meaning or context with numbers like:

"There are a total of 192^524,288 costume combinations."

We can't possibly fathom a number like that, or even have a name for it. It's just "a really really huge number okay" which may as well be infinite. My computer calculator can't even process it.
  19. Dispari

    Clarification?

Also worth noting that if any mezzes slip through, that Blaster now has 0 DEF and is dead pretty quick.
  20. Victoria Noir - Night Widow
47%+ DEF, perma ML, 101% ToHit, +45% DMG, 2 procs in each ST attack, invisibility.

I use Vicky for TFs and other speed content. She has Smoke Grenade and full invisbility so she can ghost stuff really well. She has all the team buffs and high ST DPS. AoE DPS is decent but I wouldn't call it great. She's also really great at PvP, even though I don't like PvP.

    Monkeychick Tomatre - Elec/Invuln Brute
    47% S/L DEF, 42% E/N DEF, 70% S/L RES, 2000 HP with 2900 using DP.

I use Toma for farming stuff. She can handle +2/x8 and fight just about anything that's not heavy on psi damage. Her ST damage is pretty crappy so I don't use her for TFs and things usually. She can tank like an infinite number of non-psi AVs though, since I used her to tank nearly the whole Freedom Phalanx on an LRSF after we downed the psi users.

    Tomatre - Energy/Energy/Force Blaster
    35% ranged DEF, +26% DMG, 3.4 end/sec recov.

Yup, same character as above. I use this one for testing stuff mostly. She's really good at fighting GMs and doing other special events, so any time something needs testing on the test server I grab her. She's not bad as a TF toon and a general teaming character as a hover-blaster.

    Vicious Mitsu / Savage Mitsu - BS/Shield Scrapper / Axe/Shield Brute

These two don't really have any specific bonuses, just some DEF here and there. Both run with a pactmate, Vicious Yuri and Savage Yuri, same sets. They soft-cap when near eachother. Pretty good toons all around, but kind of retired.

    Tanya Atta - SS/WP Brute

Almost no IOs on this one. She used to have a few things, but I took them off when I started using Toma. She has Tough/Weave and can handle +2/x6 with no bosses on most of the stuff Toma can do. I don't really play her though because I hate Rage.

    Ardent Black - Crab Spider

No IOs. And no accolades. I feel like she would be better if I picked up the right stuff, but she's just not that fun. She feels like a miniature version of Toma. She has less RES, less DEF, less HP, weaker DP, and probably weaker AoE potential. She does get some debuffs, team buffs, and pets, but meh. Just not that interesting.

Actually, shooting for S/L DEF is pretty amazing on WP. It has low S/L DEF compared to other stuff, but you should be able to work up a good 10-20% depending on what you wanna do. Even possible to soft-cap a Tank on it, and maybe a Brute/Scrap with enough work. S/L DEF covers practically every attack in the game, so stacking that on top of your HP, RES, and regen is just hilariously powerful. And does more to help you take alphas than +regen does.

My WP Scrap build has 32.5% S/L DEF, up from the basic 4%. CJ + Weave + Steadfast + various other bonuses.
  22. Scales would make the number practically infinite. I played with body scales in Notepad. The difference between body scale 6 and 6.001 is unnoticable but it's still a valid difference. There are scales for body, chest, shoulders, waist, hips, and legs, plus height, and although I never mess with them there's something like 20 scales for face.
  23. On a team right now with a 24 Crab who doesn't have it. They have CT:Offensive and CT:Defensive. I asked them about it but they didn't respond.

I'll say honestly that a VEAT without any team buffs is dead weight on a team. Without team buffs, the other stuff they offer is only average. Anything else they can offer can be outdone by various other ATs. It's the combination of damage, debuffs, and buffs they offer that cements them as a solid AT. A VEAT without any team buffs is basically a Corruptor without their secondary.

At the very least, a Soldier should have TT:M and a Widow should have TT:M+ML. I can forgive a VEAT for not having TT:A, TT:L, or TT:V (even though both of my VEATs have all of the team buffs), but TT:M (+ML) is just basics.

It's like trying to justify playing Forcefield and not taking any forcefields. You can come up with all the reasons you want, but you're only hurting the team, who has certain expectations from your character which you aren't delivering. You're filling (and wasting) a slot. Like a Brute that stands in the back using Aid Self, you aren't doing the thing you were recruited to do.

Every single Energy Blast and Energy Melee attack has a smash component. Meaning beefing up your S/L would allow you to dodge every Energy attack there is.

Cremate, Fire Ball, and Inferno have smash components. Fire Sword, Fire Sword Circle, and Greater Fire Sword have a lethal component. So maybe about 50-66% of the fire attacks would still go through.

But I don't understand your argument anyway because if you actually cared about Fire damage like you say, you would have Invincibility, because it gives you defense against Fire attacks.

Glad to see you won't team with me, if you're not able to adapt to a slightly different playstyle. =)
Having bought all my KCs recently, they're more like 20-50m each. And you only need 4, as opposed to 6 for ToD. 20-50 x 4 = 80-200m; 20 x 6 = 120m, so yeah it's not that much more expensive. And saves on slots.

You're not a different playstyle, you're a worse. There's no advantage to not having Invincibility. Maybe if you were comparing a /Dark to a /Kin you'd have a point. But you're comparing Invuln to Invuln with less mitigation. We're not comparing apples to oranges. We're comparing an apple to half an apple.

And for the record, most Energy and Fire powers have S/L components.
