I always find it funny when a cyst spawns in the second ITF mission, in a spawn with one of the scripted cysts.

Quote:Not saying this can't happen, but it's fairly unlikely. One part did change, and that's higher tiers of alpha piercing more of ED. Stuff that changes is usually minor tweaks. When Castle was working on Shield Defense, he tweaked values and re-ordered powers. He didn't suddenly make the set about defending oneself with armor made out of live lobsters (which is a shame). All leaked info is subject to chance since it might have been true at that point, but the devs decide to go in another direction. The only confirmed info about the slots is the name of each slot, that Judgement is going to be an AoE attack of some kind, and the Alpha slot is a global enhancement that will allow us to be effectively level 51 eventually. Even the info about Ion Radial Final Judgement is subject to change since there is no confirmation about it anywhere except some code that slipped through.
Though there is one level in particular that bothers me and I hope they do change it. But that's still a stat thing. And I'll save my feedback for issue 24 beta. -

Quote:Yup.Judgement: Cryonic, Ion, Pyronic, and Void.
Lore: Praetorian Clockwork, Warworks, Seers, and IDF.
Interface: Diamagnetic, Gravitic, Paralytic, and Reactive.
Destiny: Ageless, Barrier, Clarion, and Rebirth.
Looking forward to Pyronic and Void attacks. And Reactive procs. And warworks pets. You can tell I'm a damage-centric type of player. -
Quote:Don't worry, I'm already using 4 trays on all chars, and some need 5 or 6. Not only that, the level 4 and 5 of incarnate are clickable powers too.But... I'm having a hard enough time finding convenient keybinds for my 18 primary/secondary powers, henchmen controls, travel powers, and epics already! Where am I gotta put the bind for that?!
Wait, that's not reassuring at all. -
I say just let cloaking device do a crit out of hide (same mechanics as widow/bane hide, just one hit, 75% damage, 50% crit on AoEs). And make Gun Drone less overtly obnoxious with its stupidly high recharge, cast, and end cost.
-
For some reason it won't show the info DURING a respec. Makes it hard to know how much of some stuff to slot if you didn't write it all down or use Mids.

Quote:The power for DS is pretty good too. It's a big damage boost to the pet you give it to. And you get random imps that, while not that powerful, can take hits and do a little damage. Most of the MM level 18 powers are kinda worthless. I mean, Gang War is kind of funny but it doesn't do much except get in everyone's way, and maybe eat an alpha strike. And serum and repair are beyond worthless. The only lvl 18 power that's any good is in Necro.
Besides which, the necro, thug, and demon powers can all slot RIP IO sets, giving ALL of your pets an extra 5% DEF and 10% RES. -
Not wild speculation -- there was a leak on the test server that had full information on each type and upgrade for the first five levels of incarnate (Alpha, Judgement, Interface, Lore, and Destiny).
*****SPOILERS*****
Judgement comes in four flavors:
Ion - Energy chaining attack (-end, -recov, hold)
Void - Negative PBAoE (-DMG, KB)
Pyronic - Fire TAoE (+DoT, stun)
Cryonic - Cold Cone (-spd, -rech, hold)
No real word on things like accuracy, recharge, or end cost. But they don't seem to hit more than 15 targets (or less). Like with Alpha, as you level up and get upgrades you can lean one way or another. You can make your Pyronic go all damage, or push it toward the mezzy stun branch. They seem to do the same damage regardless of AT. -
What AT to play? Oh boy. Well,
First things first. Within each AT, different powersets will let you lean toward one role more than another. Corruptor for instance is a damage and support AT. But depending on what sets you take, you might lean one way or another. A Fire/Kinetics is more of a damage-dealing toon than a team-supporting toon, while a Dark/Dark would be great on team support but not so much on damage. With that in mind,
ATs do several things. They can deal damage, they can take damage, they can mez (that is, make enemies unable to fight), and they can buff/debuff/support for a team. There's a lot of bleed-over, of course, based on what I said above. Controllers pretty much exist to mez, but it's not like some Defenders can't also mez.
With that in mind, what kind of role do you want to fill? Do you want to solo, or help defend a team? Do you want to do lots of damage, or do damage while being able to take hits, or be able to sit on the back line and do damage as a support character?
You can go Blaster for pure damage (melee and range), or play a Scrapper, Stalker, or Brute to be a melee damage dealer that can take hits. Or a Tanker who can survive nearly anything, but not do as much damage. You can be a ranged support character who's balanced in damage and support with a Corruptor, or lean more toward support with Defender. You can mez enemies and support a team with a Controller, or mez enemies while dealing damage as a Dominator. There's also the Mastermind wild card, who ranges from damage dealer to tanker to team support to mezzer, depending on sets. All of them are useful, so pick the one that you think you'd enjoy playing. -

Well, Jay did mention proliferation. There are a lot of likely candidates in there. Psi Blast and FF for Corrs, or Ice or Fire for Stalkers. I'm just hoping for Dark Blasters or Doms.

Quote:What's your definition of "super" anyway? Because I'm pretty sure the majority of characters in this game aren't Superman or Hulk, or people who could fall from orbit and just stand up and keep walking. Most of my characters are natural or magic. Relatively killable people who use weapons, strategy, or special techniques and abilities to fight. That doesn't mean you can throw them off a building and they'd be totally fine. I'm sure if my widow fell off a building she'd put a crack in the pavement. And then be moved to a closed casket.Because getting hurt from a fall doesn't feel super. All sorts of supers take falls of remarkable height without damage in comics, whether they can fly, jump high, or are just badass normals.
If you like, instead of taking damage in a fall, play an animation of the character landing hard and putting a crack in the pavement instead, or something of that sort.
Batman is a pretty badass normal. But if he fell off a buliding, he'd either do something fancy like glide down with a cape, or "take some falling damage" when he splatted on the pavement. -
Nobody has logs available yet?

Trick Arrow.
And Devices.
And AR, Energy Melee, Energy Aura, Mercs, Ninjas, Blaster Psi Blast, Gravity Control, snipes for Scrappers, and the MM APPs that don't have armor toggles. -
Quote:A badge is just a badge, even for my badge hunter character. I'd rather miss out on a badge than team with jerks. The Master's runs, in particular, seem to have a sale on jackwagons. There are a few that like to run a lot of Master runs, and mostly just so they can stroke themselves.
You may get your badge out of it, but it'll be the least enjoyable experience you've had in the game in the process. -
Lots of my HVM money has been going toward throwing KCs on every character I own with melee attacks lately. Not just the DEF, but you get a pretty good HP boost too.
-
Not that I think Nerve is good or anything, but the +4s you fight tons of in the new TF you only have a 39% hit rate against base. So accuracy might help some. There's also those low accuracy powers like AoE holds where it could come in handy.
Of course, odds are someone on the team has Tactics. -
Quote:New natural powerset for Doms and Controllers. Forum Control:Okay, so we got 'natural alien/being' control sets, could probably use some 'gadget use' control sets but those other sets could be explained as coming from gadgets (like Elec Control) but what would a control set that doesn't come from a device be if the character was simply a human with no powers?
Any bright ideas?
1: Light Jab. Ranged, single target psionic damage (heals in full after a few seconds). Essentially a clone of Spectral Wounds. By insulting someone, you cause them to think they've been mortally wounded and retaliate. It's only afterward that they realize it's just a game. By then, it's far, far too late.
1: Casual Remark. Ranged, single target hold. It doesn't matter what you mention. Maybe you think Corruptors aren't very good at doing melee damage. Whatever your opinion, there's that one guy who takes offense and is shocked -- SHOCKED -- that you'd say such a thing. After the hold duration, prepare to be violently assaulted by that one guy.
2: Troll Bait. Ranged, AoE immobilize, +taunt. If you thought normal AoE immobs made people attack you, try one that taunts too! This power throws out an insult about how everyone else in the thread (except you of course) is just a blithering idiot. This will cause all readers to stop in their tracks and post immediately.
6: Wall of Text. Ranged, AoE sleep. You expel a huge wall of text, with no end in sight. You didn't even format it with paragraphs. Those unlucky enough to try and read it are quickly put to sleep. Unfortunately, it has low accuracy; most skip over it and say "tl;dr"
8: Necromancy. Melee, Single Target. You bring one thread back to life by posting in it even after it died. The thread is granted a short but powerful lifespan wherein several people will mention that it was necromanced, and repeatedly droll on about how a mod should clean it up, before one finally does.
12: Thread Repost. Ranged, AoE stun. You stun everyone by reposting the same thread that's already been posted at least 500 trillion times. You even go out of your way to NOT do a forum search. After the stunned silence, affected individuals regain consciousness and spend three pages telling you that this is old news. Inevitably, someone will provide a copypaste before the thread dies. Works in conjunction with Necromancy for a combo bonus.
18: Ragequit. PBAoE hold. All it takes is once well-aimed rage post about how this is the final straw that broke the camel's back and how the devs personally hate you. Affected posters will be unable to do anything except ask if they can have your stuff for at least three pages.
26: Math Whiz. Summon power. By invoking math equations that you probably just made up, you summon 1-3 small math whizzes who come to school you on how wrong you totally are. Other than minor insults, they contribute little to the conversation before leaving. This power has a small chance of summoning one Arcanaville, who instantly kills you.
32: Godwin. You had to summon him at some point. -

Well I made a build for you that's capped to all RES and DEF (positional AND typed), but unfortunately it costs 119 trillion.
-
On a Scrapper no, but on a hoverblaster, a Corr, Dom, Mastermind, or something of that sort? Certainly. Of course it depends on the powersets and availability. I have a Dom with S/L because she spends a lot of time in melee.

Recently a friend was going to hook me up with someone who was going to run a master STF. I needed the badge so I messaged the guy.
Me: Hi, I heard you're doing a MoSTF?
Him: What are you bringing?
Me: I have a widow with all the team buffs.
Him: Tell me when you're here.
Me: Do you have people signed on yet? I need to head to the market.
Him: Didn't you read my text in the channel?
Me: No, a friend told me about it.
Him: Just come on over.
Me: Do you have a source of +RES? I can stop and get oranges if not.
Him: How about you let me build the team?
Me: I just wanted to know whether to get inspirations.
Him: Either you want to come or you don't.
Me: Nevermind then! -
Quote:To slightly expand on that:To answer the hypothetical: all other things being equal, capped positional defences are slightly superior to capped typed defences.
That said, as Aett mentioned, it's usually best to go for whichever sort of defence you already have some of.
* You should work on what you already have.
* If you have nothing, and can only slot one thing, either S/L or range are best bets.
* If you can do everything somehow, M/R/A is easier.
