I've done an ITF with a stalker who had no status protection and used jump kick in his attack chain and kept my mouth shut.
[/ QUOTE ]
What's wrong with Jump Kick?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nothing. They said the person used Jump Kick in his ATTACK CHAIN. Totally should've been using Jump Kick exclusively. -

Because rocket launching witches are AWESOME. That's why.
Almost as awesome as a Robotic Ninja Pirate. Almost.

Obviously for the rocket launching witch she needs to ride a vacuum cleaner.

Acknowledging this reference since nobody has yet.
Anyway, I mostly agree with the OP. In fact, part of the reason I don't have more high level villains is because none of their choices are thematic. Dark, elec, tech, and sharks? Where's the fire, energy, ice, earth, plant, psi, and natural choices?
All my current villains over 40 managed to get a thematic epic, or just don't have one. For instance, Necro/Dark/Soul works. My Brutes and Widow don't have an epic, and my Crab is using mace. I have several characters, like my Fire/Thermal, who I don't want to level because there's no appropriate epic. -
There's a text file in your CoH folders if you want to dig through that. All the info is stored in there.

Sorcerers I have a love/hate relationship with. They pretty much single-handedly make Tsoo one of the worst and most annoying gangs in the entire game (although there are some other frustratingly annoying units in the Tsoo). They're one of the only two lieutenants so they appear in all Tsoo gangs at all levels. However, they're also one of the best units in the game when confused.

I think we all started this way

Some friends of mine from Australia gave their friend a crash-course on the game. She had never played any MMO before, much less CoH. They gave her control of their Stalker and said "just follow these people and press 1-5 a lot." -

I was, and still am disappointed Dual Blades came first... I wanted Psi Melee so bad...
[/ QUOTE ]
you aren't the only one, Quinzy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Although the implementation of Dual Blades was pretty unique, I'm still disappointed in the community for picking yet another smash/lethal set for melees to use. As if we don't have enough of those already.
Before we add an exotic set like psi melee, let's also add nunchaku, katars, tonfas, staves, street fighting, flails, whips, spears, brass knuckles, and chainsaw melee! -
I can see the reason for not having some sort of self-buff. Given we just got a castable buff with the Magic pack, I imagine they're trying to avoid any future buff powers, otherwise the players who have all the packs will end up with a ton of them and have significant advantages over normal players.
But the self-rez is something I'm into. We need one of those to hang onto. I don't die very often, but when I do it'd be nice to have a special rez clicky, even if it has a recharge of 2 hours.
I do agree the super tailor should be a non-pay feature. But I'm buying the pack anyway. -

Actually wouldn't Castle = Fortress?
[/ QUOTE ]
Castle is a reference to the chess maneuver of Castling, rather than to the architectural structure called a Castle. Hence my forum Avatar.
I was actually looking for a term synonymous with "Discovered Attack" for the Praetorian name, but settled on "Checkmate" when I couldn't find anything suitable in the 2 minutes I allowed myself to look.
EDIT: To add clarification:
[ QUOTE ]
In chess, a discovered attack is an attack revealed when one piece moves out of the way of another. Discovered attacks can be extremely powerful, as the piece moved can make a threat independently of the piece it reveals. Like many chess tactics, they succeed because the opponent is unable to meet two threats at once. While typically the consequence of a discovered attack is the gain of material, they do not have to do this to be effective; the tactic can be used merely to gain a tempo.

Actually I would of thought:
En passant
When a pawn advances two squares, if there is an opponent's pawn on an adjacent file next to its destination square, then the opponent's pawn can capture it and move to the square the pawn passed over, but only on the next move.
So while Castle is a defensive move, En Passant is an offensive one.
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought of that but couldn't think of the name.
Considering the irony of Castle being a defensive move but the character being a Fire Blaster, I vote for En Passant being a Shield Tank. -

Mobs in this game need a serious AI overhaul.
[/ QUOTE ]
"Good" AI is a double-edged sword. Sometimes "good" AI can just be really, really annoying. Guild Wars had much more intelligent enemies, but generally speaking, it just made them really frustrating. -
This picture is basically "done," but the artist is out of town for a week. She just needs to add purple lipstick and to sign her name and everything. I also had to resize it (from over 3000x3000). But I wanted to share this picture.

Hey look, a thread about AE. And it's about Freedom.
We need a new sub-forum just for these threads. -
The only thing that would make me admit I'm too old to play CoH would be if I evaporated into dust.
And even then I might still have some counterpoints. -

I don't recall any type of open testing for the other booster packs.
[/ QUOTE ]
True, but it's good to hammer out bugs first. After the whole "cape with wings" thing that happened with the Magic pack. With all the upset people who lost their costume combinations (and people like me who now have "legacy costumes" they can't change), I could see why they'd want to test a little to make sure that sort of stuff doesn't hit live. -

I can understand the mindset of wanting to always dress females in "realistic" Batman-esque clothing because let's face it not many superheroines IRL would likely fight crime in 5 inch stilettos even if they could.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmm, my Agent Wildkatze is guilty of just that in her base costume. The suit covers head to toe, but has stilettos. I vaguely recall debating about it for half a second and deciding she's just that agile she can do it. As a comparison, my tankers I don't expect to be that agile, and have flat soles.
As an aside, in the Watchman movie, Silk had stilettos...except for the hallway fight, where she suddenly didn't.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you ever watched the old Wonder Woman show from the 70s Lynda Carter's boots magically became flats whenever you'd see her in an action scene as well.
I figure between your example and mine that pretty much proves the point.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also happened with Catwoman in Batman Returns. Bugged the heck out of me.
I figure, if I can leap tall buildings anyway, a pair of high heels isn't going to be that much of a hindrance to normal, day-to-day buttkicking.
And honestly, if I was built like my toons (chest slider never past half, and rarely even near that), I'd wear "with skin" options all the time too. As long as they were gravity-defying and wedgie-proof, of course.
[/ QUOTE ]
One of my characters wears high heels with every outfit. Personally I like the way they look, but I don't ever wear them. So my characters do instead. This character has a good excuse though. Since she flies or hovers all the time, she says she's more prone to wearing them because she doesn't actually have to walk in them. She's said before that if she actually had to walk, they would probably bother her.
I don't have much excuse for my martial artist who has heels though. -

Since changing you colors will be -20% damage how many of the non-carebears will actually do this?
[/ QUOTE ]
That 20% is a maximum value. Remember, it scales depending on how far you deviate from the correct color.
[/ QUOTE ]
This makes me glad i left cox......- dam due to changing color? TOTAL BS....if i change my shirt color do my muscles get bigger or weaker? NO. lmao at the devs they will drive this game into a slap fight among toothpicks

I know. I hate it when people are totally clueless too. -

Because I like to explore and experiment with many different character possibilities before I settle on a final build.

Have you considered using the test server? I know you specifically mentioned it in your post, but it's still the best place to use respecs and try out new things. -
I have a character with Field Crafter just for the badges. I would say it's a cool deal, but it takes a long time to buy the resources and craft the things 10 at a time (to transfer) for alts. She herself doesn't need them, and even if my friends need IOs, it's usually easier to just give them money.
And with common salvage so high, I can't even craft them for profit. -
The best newbs are the ones who decide they know what they're doing and ignore everyone else as they lead themselves (and the team) to certain doom time and time again. Bonus points if they call you names for telling them otherwise.

My sarcasm meter just exploded in what I'm sure was a completely unrelated event, and thus I'm unable to tell if that post was sarcasm or not.
[/ QUOTE ]
Who? Me? Sarcastic? I was totally being serious. I would never make light of such a situation. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, the devs don't really approve of transferring. They're not going to act to stop it, but they're not likely to put in anything to make it easier, either.
[/ QUOTE ]
When transfers are outlawed, only outlaws will have transfers. -

As long as you avoid cliche and boring names, like naming your Fire/Dark "Burning Shadow," it's easy to get names.
[/ QUOTE ]
One man's "cliche and boring" is another man's "classic and simple."
[/ QUOTE ]
I figured someone would bring that up. After all, some of our most well-known heroes are named things like... Spiderman. My point is, those names are already all taken. -
[ QUOTE ]
No, the solution to your imaginary problem is the one that everyone has been repeating over and over in your suggestion thread.
PLAY ON ANOTHER SERVER
Problem solved. You are welcome.
[/ QUOTE ]
That idea sounds like it'd work great for all the people who have all their characters on one server. They could spend the whole exp event making new characters on a new server that they won't want to come back to until next exp event.
I think it'd be fun if everyone was just locked out of their primary server every exp event. That way, everyone can scramble around in the nonsense trying to figure out what server to play on. And having to make new characters (or spend money on transfers). And ending up only being able to make insubstantial progress during the event because they're unable to play their main characters.
I also think it's a great idea to expect people who play on a server that works 99.99% of the time, except during high-volume events, to just abandon that server during events -- the times when most people would actually be wanting to play their characters most.
I'm glad you solved this problem for everyone. -
Oddly enough, I never have trouble getting names. Maybe because my characters actually have names and not actiony phrases or superhero titles. Such as:
Dispari Scuro
Victoria Noir
Tanya Atta
Roxy Phydeaux
Sudona Forte
Itsumi Charr
Riley Tiranis
Of course, I also occasionally use mixes of words or words in other languages, like:
Vicious Mitsu
Xanthos Theta
Ardent Black
Hurricane Lotus
Lithium Fog
Tomatre
Courgette

Purples are about a 1 in 1000 chance of dropping if your in the right level range for them. The only reason increasing difficulty would have a chance of more drops is that the 3rd and 5th difficulty increase the number of mobs spawned giving you more chances per mission of getting what you are looking for.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you mean 2nd and 4th.
