How does that make YOU tired and unable to, say, perform melee attacks or run an armor toggle? Also, if you just catch your breath by using an inspiration, your gun is no longer overheating!

Quote:I find Elec kind of annoying. I don't like the pet I have to resummon constantly. Would be nicer if it was on a 4-minute timer instead of 90 seconds. I also don't like only having one AoE. Technically I have two, but the AoE splash on Thunderstrike does trivial damage. It also does knockback and throws enemies to the four corners of the Earth. And with the high damage scales Doms have now, the fact that the BU only does +68% is kind of dumb. With their new scales, they outdamage Blasters in melee, and aren't too far off from ranged. They really ought to get +100%. Or AT LEAST +80%. Their scales average out to 1.00, same as Stalkers, who get +80% from BU.I highly recommend a Dominator. Not Gravity. Maybe something with Electrical Assault?
Rant aside, Doms are pretty fun since the update. Plant Control is easily my favorite. Earth Assault is looking good, and I'm looking forward to making a Plant/Earth Dom when i16 hits. Plant, Mind, and Fire are all great primaries to pick from. Secondaries vary depending on what you want (AoE vs ST and the self-buff power). -
Quote:This is interesting. I thought the only new epic was going to be the Scrapper Fire Mastery. Now it sounds like all the ATs are getting a new set.http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/3/feature/3424
Read right above the green MM pic?!
I mean it does sound like... no it clearly says that all Epic Power Pools are getting a new powerset and all existing sets get a 5th power. Does that sound right? 5 new pools for heroes and 5 new powers? Villains get 1 new possible power in the Brute/VEAT PPP?
I guess being able to color out Psi blast for Corrs green makes up for it...wait we dont get Psi Blast for Corrs...darn
Usually "Epic Power Pools" is a broad term that can apply to villains as well. But in this instance, I'm not sure. Are villains getting a new patron? Are they getting a non-patron pool? Or does Epic really mean "non-patron" and villains aren't getting anything? In a lot of cases, heroes already have more epic pools than villains, who have a constant 4. I'm interested in knowing what this means. -
A) We CAN'T raise the level cap without adding all new content. We'd have to add new enhancements, new zones, new enemies, new TFs, new high-level encounters (raids), and new things for level 60s (or whatever) to do.
B) We CAN add new content without having to raise the level cap. That means we can add just a little content here and there, at our own pace.
B is the obvious choice. -
You mean like this?

This week was good. Don't have any sponsors for next week yet, outside of Rogue Entertainment of course. Hopefully I'll have one or both of my helpers back too. Next week should be Sunday at 11:00 PM CST. -
Sorry for the delay. My alarm didn't go off for the CC. We'll start in an hour!

Quote:"While the inherent is active" and "can" are the key words here. That's not what Mid's says. It seems to indicate that while the inherent is active it can increase a Corruptor's damage up to double the normal amount.
Quick math:
+100% damage 50% of the time is a +50% damage increase, not +100% (double).
Scourge can't even kick in until the target is below half HP, though usually you won't see it until 15% or below. AT MOST it could only possibly be +50%, but realistically it's going to be more like +10%.
Though, when I corrupt I find that when it does kick in on anything less than a boss, that hit was going to kill them anyway. -

Quote:I think 4 should be Aim and that 5 should be a ranged version of Follow-Up. We'll call it Laser-Up.Ok, I have come up with a new idea for this Pulse Rifle powerset.
1: Shoot Something Quick
2: Shoot Something Hard
3: Shoot Several Things
4: Who cares?
5: Who cares?
6: Buildup
7: Aim
8: Another Buildup
9: Wing Zero Beam (30 degree Cone Nuke Snipe. 3 sec interrupt, better than nuke damage because it's a snipe, standard nuke crash. Only usable after both buildups and aim.) -
Quote:Those are all pretty good points, actually.Sure there is. Fly makes it easier to chat while travelling or just afk-travel across a zone, Super Jump is the most fun to use (imho) and Super Speed is the most useful travel power indoors (acts like stealth and easier to speed around when there's a low ceiling). Plus Teleport still doesn't work so well when you have lots of latency, so that's a drawback.
But, teleport is already really fast and has a lot of advantages, like being the only one that can still move you even if you're hit with a web grenade. Its only real disadvantages are that it eats up endurance like crazy and that it's not that great indoors. If it was spammable and endurance wasn't an issue, and it was expanded to be dramatically faster than all other options, it would be way too good of a travel power. -
Quote:Just so you know, I'm a devil's advocate. Most of my posts are. I like to provoke discussion and will even argue against my own opinions if you catch me on a good day.Hey Disp, I KNOW this might be a hard concept for you to grasp but before you go Dissing the AE and all Boss maps you should, oh what is that word.
I actually farm and powerlevel a lot myself. I didn't say in my post that it's a bad thing or that people shouldn't do it. I never actually have said that, and never will.
I guess you could say I "earned" my first few 50s. After that I got bored of the run and started rushing there. In fact, these days my motivation to level is usually just to get costume slots. A lot of my characters taper off after 40.
Quote:I'm sick and tired of you self righting Jack Emmerts who demean a style of play "Oh takers aren't supose to be able to fight unbuffed! Blasters need to refuse healing, that's how Defiance is meant to be played! Boss Maps are Easy! Controlers were Never Meant to have multiple pets!"
Quote:Tell me Disp what are you so afraid of? Afraid you might like it? Come on we won't think less of you if you did.
And quite frankly until you have i'm putting you on ignore
It's weird to me that someone will say it's okay to powerlevel a character from 1 to 50 in a few days but that item drops should still be really hard to obtain. Or that someone would say "I don't want something for nothing, I just want to trivialize the leveling process."
Hopefully you took me off ignore 2 years ago, because that's when I "tried it out." -
I have over 25 characters, and none of them are from another dimension. Really, in the CoH world, we have such a wide variety of characters and abilities that there's no reason for me to need to reach out to something else to find a reason for a character to exist. I have characters from other planets or time periods though.
-
VEATs are the best for the huge time-sink that is secondary build. Not only do you have to individually train up from 1-50, but you also have the forced respec at 24 meaning none of the first 23 you did count for anything.
-
So would I. And so would everyone else. Because that would make it hands-down the best travel power in the entire game for basically any possible purpose. Every travel power needs to have some pros/cons. If you could spam teleport without worrying about endurance AND it's the fastest, there's no reason to take any of the others.

Quote:"Something for nothing" is an interesting phrase, because to me powerleveling is basically something for nothing. Especially if it's done through AE where the risk is essentially zero for exceptionally high reward. It's certainly nowhere near as much time and effort as I put into most of my first characters. It took me about 3 years to finally hit 50 on something, and now I have 6 level 50s, and over exp weekends with AE I could easily hit 50 in a day or two if I wanted to. That seems like something for nothing to me.There are many times I disagree with Perfect_Pain, but in this case I agree with her and think you're overreacting and mischaracterizing what she's saying. First of all, she doesn't want something for nothing, as your silly examples in the first paragraph imply. She farms, and wants to be able to PL, but she works for her rewards and/or XP--she doesn't expect anyone to hand it to her with no risk.
The problem though is that there's no clear line between one person and the next. Why is farming and powerleveling okay as long as it's done outside of AE? Who makes up the rules on how fast it's okay to go? How much exp/hr is acceptable and how much isn't? Who steps in and says what the difference is between the people who "pay their $15 and want to powerlevel," and the unreasonable people using AE?
I feel like powerleveling of any sort is getting something for nothing. Really, why not just have purple drops be 2%? I'd still have to work for it. I'd probably have to kill around 50 badguys. I don't want it for free, I just want it to be way, way, way easier. Isn't that the same as wanting to be able to powerlevel? -
Unfortunately, no. And if you try to tell support that, they'll mention that you aren't supposed to share accounts. Not that they'll ban you or anything, but it's one of the side-effects they mention when you share accounts. If someone else does something to your account, you're responsible for it.

Quote:They're not talking about invasions. They're talking about Troll raves and Hellion fires and other similar events. With those events, the enemies will spawn gray past level 10-15 so you can't even repeat them for exp.Quite untrue! I've often literally lost sleep when I walked out of a mish and found the sky red or green. I love fighting in the large crowds that do still gather for the invasions. Plus, far as I'm concerned, an invasion is pretty much free drops and xp, why turn your back on that? (I know drops and XP aren't exactly the rarest things in the game, but still)

Quote:This is going to change anyway. i16 is going to remove the level restrictions on zones, meaning level 1 heroes can go to Firebase Zulu and get a jetpack. Traveling there will be a different story though.Well, it's not meant as a convenience to 1st-level characters, it's meant as a convenience to characters that actually have business in those zones. The Shadow Shard is extraordinarily difficult to navigate without 3-dimensional movement capabilities, as is Grandville (to a point) if you don't know where the elevators are. That's why the vendors are where they are. And the fact that there isn't a level-restricted 40+ zone villainside is a factor too; it's not like there's anywhere else to put the redside jetpack vendor.

Yes. They've also determined that the other powers are rarely used, so will be replacing them with better powers. The new Flame Mastery will be:
41: Bonfire
41: Conserve Power
44: Bonfire
44: Conserve Power
47: Conserve Power -
I think one of the requirements is to not be interested in closed beta.
All the people I know who are in them are never interested in actually being on the server.
I've never been invited to one, but I know people who have been invited to several of them even without participating in any of them.
I know people who got invited while their accounts were inactive. -
I have a feeling that PP is going to be one of "those people" that links an image with every post they make. It's been true so far.

Since the official interview said "most" and not "all," my bet is on VEATs not getting a 5th power this time around. They seem like they'd require more effort and thought than the others, since you have to pick a power that would work for two different classes. Any defensive power given to Banes would make Crabs too good, for instance. My guess for widows is that they'll just give them holds since those choices are pretty generic and wouldn't be overpowering. But that word "most" makes me think VEATs are going to get the pass this time.
I'm hoping the heroes still lacking stuff get some good choices though. I'm wondering what Force Mastery will get for Blasters. I always thought the Gravity hold would work there.
