I was pretty sick over the weekend, so I missed a bunch of good time to finish the Incarnate GUI. I'm still gunning to have it out by the end of the month.

As for the Rare & Very Rare stuff, it's always been our policy to have the data match the Live servers and that will continue to be the way - this is mainly because making changes to the DB can cause save files to not load, so we don't to release a DB change that might be completely redone (this change by the Devs at the last minute for Inherent Fitness to make it Inherent.Fitness.Sprint,etc instead of Inherent.Inherent.Sprint,etc is a major example of that). We are building this with those in mind, though, so if I19.5 comes out it'll be a relatively minor db update to Mids to add in the Rare & Very Rare.

This, of course, assumes that 19.5 doesn't come out next week. *crosses fingers*

Still, having the wrong Start In path is probably either the user's doing or NSIS's fault. The Mids' NSIS script uses SetOutPath "$INSTDIR\" before making the shortcuts, just like the documentation describes.
I don't know how much I buy that, myself. There's nothing the user could be doing during setup to make it forget the path for StartIn, and I doubt that people are going around and editting their shortcuts to Mids (though, I suppose that if they had the link, uninstalled Mids or deleted the Mids folder without removing the Mids shortcut, then installed Mids and continued using that old shortcut, that might do it, maybe? Grasping at straws here).

    There are two issues here:
    (A) The installer needs to make the shortcut correctly.
    (B) Paths need to be qualified such that A doesn't matter.

The major and important bug is B, it's just one that hadn't shown up previously until A happened.

Yeah, it shouldn't be doing that at all. We think the problem is that it isn't using a fully qualified name, so the StartIn path of the shortcut could be affecting where the file is put. This is most definitely a bug that'll be fixed with 1.92.

    Blaster Nukes

Nukes and Snipes are all balanced weirdly in a way that simply doesn't fit with the rest of the game balance. Ditto Tier 9s like Unstoppable and Power Surge (especially Power Surge). Given the various mini-nukes that recharge in a quarter of the time and have no crash whatsoever, plus things like Lightning Rod and Shield Charge (in a defense set, for crying out loud - my Blaster would trade half his primary for that power), it doesn't make sense: less than double damage => 4x recharge and endurance crash and -Recovery.

Snipes really need to be given the Dominator treatment, at the least. You likely aren't going to fire more than one in a fight anyway, so upping the damage and recharge make sense.

SuckerPunch's planner? Outside my sphere and Mids is already enough to take up what little time I have available these days. Sorry. Whether or not somebody else in the Titan Network might be working on it, that's not for me to say or know.

The auto-update to 1.9.1 is actually just going to download the installer, because I had to make changes to the updater itself. The installer should automatically ask to be run as admin this time, too. Hopefully, the changes I made to the updater this time around will allow us to upgrade to 1.9.2 automatically. *crosses fingers*
  8. Hail of Bullets and Protector Bots are both special cases that we've had to think seriously about (check the accuracy on Hail of Bullets, for example - Mids is confused because the buff is autohit on self). I have yet to come up with a good solution for this, sadly. But it is on my radar.

  10. Hm, I thought I'd fixed all the scaling issues... I'll check this.

The PvP set bonuses weren't really on my radar, I'll admit it (and this isn't anti-PvP sentiment, since the Alpha Slot and full Pet Powers haven't been done either). Luckily, I looked into this today (because everybody asked me too :P), and I might have these reinstated in the next version or two.
  12. Happy Holidays!

The Titan Network has been busy at work over the last month since the release of Mids' 1.9 and the brand new Sentinel software, and as a little gift from us to you, we've got brand spanking new versions of both sitting on our servers! While the Alpha Slot is still another Mids' version away, we've got full compatibility here between it and Sentinel (and vice versa), having fixed all (we hope!) of the bugs that you have found. Mids has a variety of QoL fixes, too, including Suppression support and Damage/Animation Time support.

    So, without further ado:

    Titan Sentinel v0.9.3

    Titan Sentinel v.0.9.3 - December 2010

    Patch Notes
    • Fixed a bug that was causing crashes for characters exporting builds that added Enhancement slots to the Inherent Fitness powers
    • Corrected mistaken "Error applying updates" message when updates were in fact successful

    Mids' Hero/Villain Designer v1.9.1

    MidsÂ’ Hero/Villain Designer 1.91 - December 2010

    Update Note
Because this update includes backend fixes to the MHDLoader program, Mids will need to be reinstalled instead of simply using the internal autoupdater (the internal autoupdater should still run, but instead of a patch file, it will download the exe via your web browser).

    Changes & Updates:
    • Fixed a variety of crash bugs introduced with 1.9.0
    • Fixed database errors (ammo powers not working under all conditions, Shield Charge not showing damage on Brutes and Tankers)
    • Added Suppression flags in the Configuration, under Effects & Maths. Checking the boxes will update your power effects and totals to match the condition.
    • Damage per Animation time now fully supported throughout the program (in comparison windows as well as the main Mids display)
    • Fixed issue with Fiery Embrace numbers being shown no matter what if damage mode set to minimum or maximum damage
    • Fixed issue with old build files (pre-1.4) not loading
    • Mids should be smarter about asking for administrator access when it needs it
    • Plays better with Sentinel

    Known Issues
    • Windows Vista and Windows 7 have issues with the updater due to UAC interfering with writing to the Program Files folder. Many of these problems can be resolved by (a) installing as Administrator, (b) running Mids as Administrator, or (c) installing Mids to a different location than the Program Files folder.
    • Diminishing Returns for PvP mode have not yet been added, all buffs currently show their full, unmodified values.
    • The Power Graphs for the current build do not display effects for pseudo-pet powers like Ice Storm. This does not affect the Powerset Comparison, which is now fully aware of pseudo-pets.
    • 60 Month Vet reward button not added. This means taking a Tier 3 travel pool power at level 6 or higher is automatic for everyone. You need to know whether or not you are eligible for this reward or you must take your travel power at level 14 or higher.
  13. There are ways to simplify things, but none of them are easy. Currently (and has been the case since the beginning), the inherent powers in Mids are all static in their placement (as in, there is a field in the Mids Database that tells it where to put it). This means that even if some powers were added or removed dynamically, it wouldn't change placement at all (you'd just got large black gaps where those powers were). Changing this to a more dynamic system is something I want to do, but is going to take a lot of work for various reasons and it is lower priority than other things (like the Alpha Slot).

Changing the default size of the window is something I don't want to do (we are currently trying to keep it small enough to work on 1024x768 resolution), but making it remember its size is something that should be done, and I'll probably do so when it hits my priority.
  14. Power Siphon does not currently accept taunt sets. I don't know if it did in the past.

Yes. Look for the next version for a solution to this problem. Hint: it involves checkboxes in the Configuration window.

I have Windows 7 64 bit and never had any problems.. has anyone else seen this?

    EDIT-

OK, for whatever reason, once I installed the program folder to the desktop, I am fine.. weird.
We're seeing a lot of issues with Windows 7 in terms of administrator access. The current work around is to install somewhere besides C:Program Files. The next version (coming soon to a desktop near you!) is a bit smarter about this, and should resolve some of these problems.
  16. I don't think so... My version is installed to D:\Program Files(x86)\Titan Network\Mids Hero Designer and it works fine. It should be downloading it to the directory the mids' exe is located in. If you have the folder open when it downloads, you'll see it make a temp file, then rename the temp file to mhd.mhz when it finishes.
  17. Huh. Odd. Can the people who are getting this loop take some screenshots or a video? The other thing would be for them to make certain that the mhd.mhz file is properly downloading and appearing in the Mids folder.

It should. That's a bug with site that we're looking into. The link at the top of this thread is the correct download link.

In order for a previously downloaded update to be applied, Mid's hero/villain designer must restart.

The program will now exit to apply the update. Please close any other running instances of Mid's Hero/Villain Designer."

Hitting ok makes the screen and blue bar loading thing behind it disappear, but they reapear in seconds saying the same thing. Closing with the X button does not prevent this and the only way I've stopped the loop is with the task manager. Despite having run through the loop in exess of 20 times. Running as Administrator opens Mid's properly. Uninstalling, and reinstalling through the link in this thread sill won't let me open without running as administrator lest I get the above loop.

Anyway, thanks for the work you all put in it. It is much appreciated.
Look inside your Mids folder for a mhd.mhz file. That's the patch file and it's detecting it and think it needs to apply it. You don't need it if you installed from the link, so just delete it.

  21. I'll double check the auto-update, but I think it has to do with Win 7 permissions (I had the same error, but after I clicked the loop twice, it went through fine).

The size of the layout should be dependent upon your window size - if you increase the size, then it'll scale the images so that you can see it all at once. *checks* But it doesn't... It did in an earlier version, but now the scale is botched. I'll put it in the bugtracker and it'll be fixed with the next version (won't be two months, I swear).
  22. Greetings and salutations!

Issue 19 has come out this past week and, surprise, we've got a new version of Mids' for you. Sadly, we haven't implemented the Alpha Slot yet, but you'll be seeing that in an auto-update later this month. If you have your Auto-Update feature turned on, then you should already be getting the new version when you next activate Mids... Or you can choose to update from within the program. If you really, really want, then you can get a new install exe from the Titan Network.

    Have fun!

    Mids' Hero/Villain Designer v1.900

    MidsÂ’ Hero/Villain Designer 1.90 - December 2010

    Game Build
Power database in line with game build 1900.201011102104.8 (Issue 19)

    Changes & Updates:
    • Added Inherent Fitness
    • Added Prestige Sprint powers to inherent section
    • Powers with Pseudo-pet effects, like Lightning Rod, should work with Fiery Embrace
    • Added 4 column layout
    • Added vertical scrollbar to inherent section in order to allow for more inherent powers. This means that Kheldians have been given access to Ninja Run once more
    • Fixed duplicate salvage bug
    • Fixed salvage alphabetical order bug
    • Reduced max IO level from 53 to 50
    • Fixed crash when moving from Controllers to Dominators
    • Fixed various other crash bugs
    • Various tweaks to code, making it run faster and smaller

    Known Issues
    • Diminishing Returns for PvP mode have not yet been added, all buffs currently show their full, unmodified values.
    • The Power Graphs for the current build do not display effects for pseudo-pet powers like Ice Storm. This does not affect the Powerset Comparison, which is now fully aware of pseudo-pets.

    • Flight Speed values are currently incorrect. On Live they are bugged such that Blasters have the value that the Issue 18 patch notes say they should, while all other ATs have a higher value.
  23. Not so fast! A pretty nasty bug was found shortly after this, so I took it down. I'll let you know when the real I19 version is ready (should be later today).

  25. We're QAing right now, and once it passes, we'll release version 1.9 of Mids' - it should be ready before the end of the week. It won't have the Alpha Slot available yet, I'm afraid that'll have to wait for 1.9.1 which will take a couple more weeks.
