Some kind of Schrodenbug... Didn't show up at all for me until you guys reported it, suddenly nothing works and looking at the source code, it can't ever (well, ever since I ported over that section of the code from VB to C# two weeks ago - part of why Mids 1.94 and Mids 1.93 are smaller than 1.92) have worked. Given that one of the two main builds I use for testing had Guassian's in it, and none of my QA people found it... I'm at a loss. Argh.
Anyways, it's fixed now. Hopefully, there won't be any other of these Schrodenbugs. -
Well, holy crap. Not certain what happened there... Well, I know what happened, but not why. Anyways, here's a quick updated version for people to give a shot:
Mids' Hero/Villain Designer v1.942 -
Hot on the heels of our last release is a minor little bugfix and small feature update:

Release Notes
Mids’ Hero/Villain Designer 1.942 - May 2011
New features:- Regeneration and Recovery caps are now implemented, so you can see just how much your Destiny helps you.
Fixes & changes- Fixed an issue loading Arachnos Soldier builds.
- Fixed an issue with IOs with grant power effects.
Known Issues- Windows Vista and Windows 7 have issues with the updater due to UAC interfering with writing to the Program Files folder. Many of these problems can be resolved by (a) installing as Administrator, (b) running Mids as Administrator, or (c) installing Mids to a different location than the Program Files folder.
- Diminishing Returns for PvP mode have not yet been added, all buffs currently show their full, unmodified values.
- The Power Graphs for the current build do not display effects for pseudo-pet powers like Ice Storm. This does not affect the Powerset Comparison, which is now fully aware of pseudo-pets.
- 60 Month Vet reward button not added. *This means taking a Tier 3 travel pool power at level 6 or higher is automatic for everyone. *You need to know whether or not you are eligible for this reward or you must take your travel power at level 14 or higher.
- Power Boost affects some powers that should ignore its buffs, such as Ice Shields.
- Temporary and Accolade powers are not being affected by buffs such as recharge rate.
- Alignment and, consequentially, Accolade powers will not load from saved builds.
-
At the PAX Meet-n-Greet, my friend Garent, who has a Praetorian in the high 20s who never left, asked Positron whether or not it was possible for his Praetorian to hit 50 and join trials and so forth from the D without leaving Praetoria. Positron thought really hard and said "I think so, yeah".
Cut to a later in a Beta, where the copied version of the Praetorian character was autoleveled to 50 by Arbiter Wolf and then proceeded to run trials and get Incarnate powers.
So yeah, it works. -
It hasn't been implemented yet. I have an idea of how to do it, but the Incarnate power window we use only allows for rich text for the powers and not for controls, so I'd need to rebuild the Incarnate window. It's something I intend to do, but I didn't want to push off this release any longer than absolutely necessary.

Quote:I'm personally using Win 7 64-bit, so I know it works. :P" Mid's Hero Designer has stopped working...
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem"
I have had this error message for the last two updates to Mid's.
I do not think it is Mid's at all but my system.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit home edition.
Does Mid's work for anyone else Win 7 64 bit?
Do I need to install to a different directory?
Thank you for any help!
This might be related to the issue of trying to install over files in the C Program Files; Windows Vista and 7 have an application cache that duplicates the Program Files contents and sometimes that gets locked and then you get problems overriding them. As a result, the new dlls don't get copied and it gives these errors.
I highly suggest trying to install it somewhere besides C Program Files and see what happens. I personally have it installed in D Program Files (I install most things there so that C remains purely OS related). -
Quote:Hm... Looks like.Bug:
There doesn't appear to be a hard cap on regeneration. In-game, the highest total I can get (with HP and regen at their caps) is about 368 hp/s, but Mid's is showing over 740 hp/s. I know Mid's has the HP cap built in, but it looks like it's showing 5000% regen, which isn't possible. -
Sorry it took so long, but between figuring out how to get Interface to work properly in Mids and running the new trials... But here you go!

Release Notes
Mids Hero/Villain Designer 1.94 - May 2011
New features:- Incarnate slots for Issue 20 fully supported!
Fixes & changes- Vigilance should work properly.
- Mastermind summon powers now respect endurance reduction.
- Build import and load has been altered to have a greater tolerance for corrupted save files. In many case that previously caused an error message, it will now simply try and drop the bad powers and load the rest of the build. This should help with issues resulting from save files created using the bad Epic Powers update in 1.91 and the Unofficial Fitness patch.

Whoa, nice. I like it when things arrive early.
The Mids team at Titan thanks the Devs for their endorsement of our product. :P -
-
Current development version has all four slots intact and fully available. Interface works fine except for one small bug (where it sometimes causes the debuff to be applied to you). Destiny works peachy keen except that I don't think the handy "time-slider" will make it in (a nice feature I wanted to deal with the staggered buffs). I was hoping to release it tomorrow, but these last couple bugs came out of nowhere. I'd love to say May 1st, but I can't make any promises... Stupid bugs.

Quote:I seem to also remember a lot of back and forth over Taunt back in the day, too, though that was a "Castle think Taunt works one way because the documentation said so, but it didn't actually work that way" and once player complaints continued enough he looked at it and it got "resolved". That was also a long time ago.Maybe one time in a thousand. The devs rarely "insist" anything is working correctly, so that specific instance is incredibly rare. But there have been times where persistent problems were brought to the attention of the devs and the players had to persist over a significant period of time to convince them to examine the problem. I can think of only a few:
When it comes to looking at what players complain about versus truth, I'm regularly brought back to my experiences with Willpower in beta. Almost everybody was complaining that it was an underpowered set and that the forced downtime of One With The Shield made the set unplayable in high content, and so the Devs actually buffed it when what it needed was a slight nerfing to put it in line with the other sets (thankfully, part of that buff was one of those "not actually useful distractions" of adding Resist(Regeneration) to Fast Healing). I remember writing up a comparison of the set to the other ones (using Catwhoorg's DRR and one of ArcanaVille's survivability posts as guides) but it didn't matter, the majority of the player base said it was too weak. Yeah, I don't know what was up with that...
It's one of the things that has made me incredibly skeptical of player murmurings about balance without any kind of data to back it up. -
That might work, so long as there is still a chance to get the 10 thread option randomly otherwise. I got the 10 thread option on an 8-man Lambda that my Brute was leading.
-
My Brute has gotten mostly commons and uncommons, and on my very last run I got the 10 thread option. That last run was an 8-man Lambda where three or four of the people had never done it before and I was leading... And we successfully got all 10 of each temp and beat Marauder with six minutes remaining. I have never gotten a rare or very rare on my brute.
Oh, and the Brute is a DM/Shielder who uses Shield Charge every time it's up.
My wife's Controller has gotten a Very Rare, a Rare, and several uncommons. She's a Fire/Rad on hyper recharge who does nothing but spam her AoE powers...
It definitely looks to me like either (a) the system is random, or (b) it's skewed towards support and my Brute is going to have a lot higher climb as a result. -
Quote:Feel free to read up (or run the missions and see!).Actually Tech no I did not know that.. Thanks for the update.
Does make me wonder though if Requiem is a Nictus then WHY don't we see any Galaxy style troops in the ranks of the 5th? I did mention my Canon Fu is a bit weak in some areas.. And in case anyone wasn't 100% certain this whole thread is meant to be sort of a running joke.
The bit about the Path of the Dark being in Italy from Roman times is here. That also explains Requiem's origins: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Colleen_...ss_.2835-39.29
As for Requiem and his troops, take a peek at Unai Kemen's story arc, To Save a Thousand Worlds: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Unai_Kemen -
Quote:That's why I said includes Judgement. Lore is also affected by Interface. The reason is that Judgement and Lore powers actually have a list of allowed enhancements just like other powers, you just normally don't see it because the powers don't accept slots.im pretty sure in beta i read that judgement powers were affected by interface slot
and i can attest that when i open up a mob with my judgement power, i can see my interface debuff effect go off on majority of the targets
i think the interface procs affect anything that DOES do dmg, if the power does no dmg then it wont apply the proc -
According to testing in beta, the unique pet buff IOs apply to Lore pets.
-
Any power that can accept a Damage enhancement is affected by Interface (this includes things like Judgement - it can accept Damage enhancements but it doesn't get slots so you can't put them in there normally).
-
I still haven't even slotted my first post-Alpha, and some people have multiple rares...
I am impressed. -
The change is actually making this impossible to play for my wife. She's an albino and, as such, has absolutely horrible vision and very specific problems having to do with a lack of ability to truly focus. Bright lights give her migraines, flashy things on the side of screen screw with her head, and weird color contrasts are problematic. Up until I20, the game was good enough that it wasn't a problem.
Now, though...
The new minimum size for the chat box is ridiculous because she has to play at a resolution of 1024x768 and at this size, the chat window takes up at least a third of the screen. She can't reduce the scale of this window, or she can't read the text since font size is tied to window scale (as I said, she has horrible vision -- she's actually considered legally blind, even though she can still see).
Then there're the colors of the team UI, both old and new. They're bright, very bright, and the fonts are horrible to read (especially the green on green of the classic font). And the buff icons are gigantic now, and regularly stretch across the entire screen.
I understand the need to increase the minimum size to fit the League link, but they overshot it by a fairly significant bit of space. Furthermore, it's a poor UI decision to make their interface dependent on the number of items in it like this - this menu should be changed to a dropdown with checkbox circles, like the minimap has. Or something.
As it, she simply can't play, and that makes me sad. -
We're considering an overhaul to the Requirements part of the Mids' powers and effects code, which will hopefully nip all these little things in the bud (as well as allowing us to handle more esoteric things like City Traveller). Top priority right now, though, is I20... After that, we're looking at the Requirements code and PvP DR (something we hoped to have done for 1.93, but it got dropped in order to work on some internal tools and I20).

Slightly delayed due to a certain someone (hint: it's me) going on vacation to see PAX and other things, we've got a brand new Mids' update for you guys. This one is mostly a bugfix version but has a few new features, like the ability to quickly toggle incarnate and accolade powers from the main screen and the full implementation of the Drag'n'Drop for powers (it now swaps by default, and moves with Shift click).
Mids' Hero/Villain Designer v1.930
Mids Hero/Villain Designer 1.93 - March 2011
New features:- The drag-drop Move/Shift system has been enabled. Hold the Shift key while dropping if you want to Move instead of Swap. Like a book being removed from a stack, where the other books will rush to fill in the gap, this will cause the powers between the source and destination slots to shift toward the source slot in order to make room for the power being dragged-and-dropped.
- It is now possible to toggle incarnate/temp/accolade powers from the main window by simply clicking on the button. Double-clicking will result in the appropriate window being opened.
- There is now an option in the Configuration panel that will change whether or not the Enhancement values in the power popup includes Alpha Ability enhancements.
Fixes & changes- Accolades/Temps and Incarnate windows should no longer steal focus when the window isn't already in focus.
- Accolades/Temps window will now scroll as necessary in order to accommodate for larger font sizes.
- Applying font style and color changes via the Configuration panel will now have the intended effect.
- The info tabs will no longer cover up part of the secondary powerset power list when the secondary powerset box is taller than the primary one.
- Enhancement slots can once again be removed by double-clicking.
- The damage value/graph will no longer be pushed beyond the visible range of the window under certain common circumstances. If possible, the primary and secondary power lists will shrink and require scrolling instead.
- It is now possible to use the mouse wheel to scroll in the Recipe Viewer, Accolades/Temps, Incarnate, and In-Game Helper windows. The fix for this improved compatibility with software mouse wheeling systems, such as Synaptic touch pad drivers.
- All power pools can now shrink to accommodate for smaller window sizes.
- A random "-2" is no longer being added to the enhancement list in the info tabs.
- Window scaling when dealing with Kheldian builds should finally work properly.
- The resizing event no longer occurs twice during every resize and three times when the main window loads. This should speed up the program a bit.
- The real-numbers style accuracy tooltip will now show the correct value even under the influence of ToHit buffs.
- Inherent Fitness will no longer be missing when loading certain builds.
- Inherent powers such as Scourge, Domination, and Containment work again.
- Base fly speed is now correct.
- Bile Spray for Masterminds and Blasters now has the correct static index.
- Hail of Bullets should now give an accurate value for damage per animation time.
- Burn for Scrappers and Blasters is now set as a click buff.
- Inherent Fitness is now compatible with Kheldian forms.
- Hasten and Domination now have the correct activation times.
- The damage buff from Vigilance is now applied properly, and includes a slider to show it decreasing based on number of teammates (up to 3, since more than that has no effect).
-
Finish powerset proliferation.
Buff the underperforming powersets.
Buff the ridiculous crap powers (like give Corrs, Defenders and Blasters the Dominator versions of snipes).
Rebalance Stalkers.
Buff the crappy IO sets to bring variety to build options (3% Debt Reduction? 2% Immob Resist? Seriously?).
Do a pass over the Epic Power Pools to make them evenly balanced (example for Defenders: Shocking Bolt (Tier 2) and Dominate (Tier 1) are 16 second recharging powers, the hold powers in the Patrons are 32 seconds... damage values are all over the place).
Provide parity between Defense and Resistance set bonuses, to give people an alternate slotting choice (and, coincidentally, put resistance based powersets on more even footing with the defense ones when using IOs).
Sure, that list might be more than a whole day to do, but most of them are stuff I've already thought about and made a list for. There's a reason I'm the Mids' guy. -

Try going to Options > Advanced > Database editor and see what version it says your database is (it should be 19.21). If so, then open your Mids' folder and delete the mhd.mhz file in it.
