Personally, I think he should re-write his pricing structure. It seems very misleading to me. I could see how it would scare off most people.

I'd recommend deciding on your own, how much you are willing to spend, then contact him. "Here's what I want, I willing to spend X amount." It's basically how I communicated with Transfuse.

Not quite that bad.

Based on some of his other works, I ball parked how much I was willing to spend. Basically I said "I'm willing to spend X amount, what can you do for me?"

While he took considerably more time on the piece that was originally discussed, he stuck to the agreed upon pricing.

Transfuse (AKA CrimsonJassic ) admittedly took longer to complete the commission then he or I expected. I even contacted him about it in eager anticipation, and he graciously explained his situation, which I appreciated. In retrospect, if I had anticipated something this good, I'd have waited even longer.

Just FREAKING AMAZING!

After receiving the piece, I read up on his site, surmised his pricing as best I could and sent off some funds.

The whole thing is strange to me particularly since I asked him to clarifying his pricing as I did not understand it. Despite the lack of communication, the possibility of appearing unwilling to pay for services rendered did not sit well, so I sent funds appropriate to the best of my understanding.

No. He sent me a finished piece with out ever talking to me or receiving any money from me.

Over a month ago, I sent out requests to various Deviant Artists in hopes of commissioning a few of them in creating artistic pieces of my main character Desmodas Siazar. Those that replied, I engaged in negotiations with. Some of which I'm eagerly waiting the results, as such I check my dA account daily in anticipation.

Today I was rather surprised by what was in my inbox. Sergevirusx was amongst the artists I initially attempted to contact. I really like his/her art but Serge never replied. I'm still scratching my head as I found this gorgeous art piece of Desmodas in my dA inbox (or rather a link to it).

I'm finding this a bit awkward as Serge never contacted me in regards to accepting the commission or finalizing any financial agreement. I immediately sent off some funds as described on his dA page, but I've often found these directions and pricing confusing (mostly to my lack of knowledge regarding art terms).

I've always known artists to be a weird lot (meh, so am I), but is this the norm? This seems like a very easy formula for gross misunderstandings, not to mention the artist getting the shaft. I have no idea whether or not Serge reads CoH Forums, if he does some direct him to PM me. (I've sent him a note on his dA account.)

Spines / DA has interesting elements but in the end it is a sub par performer at best. A couple of the other combo's beat the snot out of it for speed and performance.

They arent truly the AoE kings. And they definately arent the fastest grinders / farmers / pl'ers. And of course thier weaknesses / limitations cant be shored up like you can with other combo's.

And this is from experience. I have a spine/da with an optimized aoe build. It just doesnt cut it compared to my other toons. Yes I dumped a few 100 million on the market hoping to make it great, but the other aoe beasts out there eat it alive.

While you've written a great guide here, much of the information in it is incorrect. I'm guessing you designed the guide/build before many of the IO changes were implemented. You should consider updating as most of your advice is pretty nice.

Jordan matches the look and age of the character more closely.

Roselyn would probably capture the spirit and spite a little better.

So that's why I can't draw, been trying to use a pencil all this time.
