1. I can only speak for myself, as I imagine this will vary considerably from person to person.

A clichè as it sounds, "Great Art cannot be rushed!" In the broadest sense of the concept, time invested into work yields better results. The catch is, time invested is equated to be actual effort.

In an era where theft and scams are rampant over the internet, everyone needs to be weary. We have artists stealing from artists, scammers claiming to be artists are stealing from collectors, and we have collectors commissioning works they have no intention of paying for. In this volatile environment, we must build a fragile trust.

I have negotiated with artists who are very slow with communication, before and after funds have changed hands. Time estimates are provided, only to be exceeded with no communication. On a few occasions I sat back and concluded, "Darn, I got scammed." Lucky for me, it never happened. The artist eventually delivered what was agreed upon. In some instances, upon seeing the finished work, the wait was more than justified. Some communication would have eased the tension though.

I attempted to contact an artist once, requesting a commission. After a month with no reply, I concluded they were not interested and completely forgot about them. About eight months later, I receive a completed product. No negotiations, no preliminary sketches, no funds exchanged, not so much as an agreement on the fee. I liked the art, but total break down in communication.

If the lines of communication are kept open, I think most people are willing to wait any reasonable amount of time for their finished product. Periodic updates on progress or lack there of let the purchaser know they have not been forgotten. Wassy, is exceptional in this regard. I cannot compliment her enough in this regard.

..do seeing that line drawings after a bit make waiting for the finished one even more worse .. or would you wait happily knowing how its gonna look..

Words truly have their limits. I can't count the number of times I've described things in words only to learn the listeners/readers came about a very different image or conclusion. I LOVE getting preliminary sketches and line work. When I commission an artist, I do so with the intent freeing artist to interpret the characters/story. I believe the greater the freedom of the artist, the more expressive the final work. At the same time, I'm terrified of a mis-communication and a subsequent interpretation veering way off the mark. I've gotten back a few sketches that made me realize I had utterly failed to convey my requests. I shudder to think what would happen with out such sketches and line art. Besides, they make for great updates on progress.
2. Thanks Balshor. I can't wait to try this tomorrow.
3. No looking too much for free form. I have some spin shots in mind. Dolly is what I need/want the most. Even if I could set the camera and have characters move in front of it, instead of with it. I also want to be able to focus on the feet, or torso instead of mid back.

I have not tried Balth's demo editor yet, will give it a shot.
4. Can some one give me some guidance or pointers on moving the camera in demo edits. I've been fooling about to see if I could manipulate the camera but my results have been both random and undesirable. I have seen camera work in various videos ranging from the functional to down right spectacular. How is this done?
5. Ok, finally caught on to what bugs me about the piece.

Does this gentleman only have one arm? The position he's standing should not quite obscure an arm entirely. We should still see some aspect of it either behind or in front of him.
6. Let me make sure I've got this right.

<ul type="square">[*] I don't have a Mac.[*] I can purchase the Mac code for $19.99 now, and get the in game items (Valkyrie costumes and Mission teleporter) and 1 Months worth of game time.[*] Or I can wait 2-3 months, pay $9.99 for the same in game items.
Why would anyone who wants these in game items wait? Unless I am missing something, purchasing the Mac code would be cheaper.

Hmmm... just realized I feel decidedly short or my art collecting goals this year... Guess I'll have to make up for it this year

<ul type="square">[*]MOST FAVORITE: With out question goes to Desmodas by Lilwassu , AKA Wassy. The entire experience from communication to final product was the most enjoyable art commission experience to date. Thanks again Wassy.[*]BIGGEST SURPRISE: Desmodas by Gammaknight was the first artist whose attempted to capture the 'softer' side of Desmodas. This was a PROMO piece and had it been suggested to me as a commission I would have said no. Lucky me I wasn't asked because I really like this one.[*]MOST ANTICIPATED: Desmodas by ImagesbyAlex After seeing so many of Alex's quick sketches, I was thrilled to get on his queue. Having given no direction, I was eager to see the direction he would chose to go. This was a close runner up for most surprised because it never would have occurred to me.[*]I JUST GOTTA MENTION: Desmodas by John Becaro doesn't really into any "most" category that I can come up with, but I can't omit it from any "Best of 2008" listing. There are so many elements for this piece that are just done so well; her hair, the wings, the costume. I was particularly impressed how 'in game' the background is for a commission that did not call for a detailed background.
Best thing about making these types of lists; now I'm really excited about 2009's line up

Modern Samurai

NICE!! Love how his sword runs into the comic title. Love the facial expression.
9. Ok, for those that can't read Spanish, Dark Vanessa is in a really crummy situation. Her full Spanish posting of the incident is filled with ...colorful language and obviously written by someone who is frightened, angry, and very frustrated. She asks that folks translate for her, as English is not her first language. Her neighborhood is basically being terrorized by hoodlums, which her family and neighbors have thus far been able to fend off. Things have turned violent, injuries have resulted and everyone expects things will escalate if they remain living there.

She is trying to get commissions going to raise money the help her father find them a new place to live. She needs the funds upfront but would not be able to begin working on them until mid-February. We can't discuss her pricing here, but she is offer a bundled price for three works. Pricing seems reasonable to me. She seems to have calculated she needs 6 people to take her up on the offer and she'll be in a position to help her family. I hope some folks can help her, I know I'll be reviewing things to see what I can do.

Tale of a Hero

Nice background story. I appreciate the efforts you made with camera movement, just wish you weren't so zoomed out for several shots. Nice montage of content though. I enjoyed it.

An interesting exercise, but as someone who only commissions (as I can't draw myself) I'd only particpate if I can omit the "worst" category.

That looks more like a scene from a "Vanguard After Hours" club.

*is curious about this story that wassy likes*

[/ QUOTE ]

I THINK it would be inappropriate for me to link directly to it here. (it's not really THAT adult oriented, but people of different levels of sensitivity) If you were however to access my DA page via artwork in my sig, you might peruse some of the my prose. The story in question is titled "Demon Bath."
15. **Does what passes for a happy dance, though the casual observer would likely be mortified**
16. Always something very distinctive about your style. Excellent pieces.
17. Suddenly, I'm thinking it needs some of your arts. An art piece to visually represent the story. What do you think?
18. Hey Wassy, remember that story you liked?
19. congrats Frost, she looks great. Awesome work as usual, Wassy.
