Hmm... You COULD shade part of the white with a light blue or purple, that would give it some depth... But don't use grey, it doesn't look very good. And, awesome work!!

Or certain things could be taped seperately, say, him, on a bluescreen, (and the hat) and the rest seperate from him, and played backwards.. Of course, you could be right as well.
