    a new joke....

    [ QUOTE ]
I can't speak for anyone else, but the toons I PL are ones for PVP. I have tons that never get PL'd and just PVE. Oh, I did PL kins on both blue and red side to farm with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Right, and I get that. It's just that, to me, my characters are characters. History, personality, etc. All of them. I just can't PL. It's dull, I feel like I "cheated" and I get no satisfaction from a character like that. I'm far more a comic book geek than I am a gamer. I PvP sometimes, but I'm not really that into it. It's more something to do with my higher levels (I enter them in our SGs tourneys, routinely get my butt kicked, but still have fun! ). I understand the point of view. "I've done the content a million times and I just want a better PvP toon" is perhaps the most logical reason I can think of for PLing. PLing anything else seems...odd and missing the point to me.

    a new joke....

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm just not a pokey player. If I wanted to wait and take 30 10 minutes to get to the place my "quest" was I'd play WoW.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is cool enough. That's why I solo, because I know the others would rather not go slowly. Different folks, different styles. I don't mind the thrill of running through and clobbering the crap out of stuff sometimes, I just have to be in the right mood for it, is all. Plus I play a lot at work (hotel night auditor) and I'm interrupted a lot. Not really cool to do to teams.

    a new joke....

    [ QUOTE ]
Is it not flat dumb to spend a month or two saving the world to earn levels when you can squirt out a 50 in a matter of hours?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nope. Partly because of this:

    [ QUOTE ]
...but I was gaining friends and having fun and it was working just fine for me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...and partly because CoH has never been a game about getting to 50. Because what do you do then? You can play that, PvP, etc, but this isn't like WoW, where half the idea is getting to that top level so you can do "the cool stuff". Well, "the cool stuff" in CoH is mostly on the way up. 50 is somewhat the end for a lot of people.

CoH has always been about the journey, not the destination.
  4. MA arcs are less a completed task and more a "process".
  5. To be honest, the whole UBB board system was already archaic when they put it up here. I really wish for a better system someday.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Dropping to 4 stars is definitely a death sentence for an arc, though, and for added fun there's absolutely nothing the creator can do to prevent it. The current rating system is utterly horrible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm hoping word will get around that, with all the griefing going on, the four-star area is actually where all the really good stuff is.
  7. Adapt! Improvise! Overcome!

Or wait until there are tools to actually do what you want, I suppose. I've got a story on hold for that.
  8. I think the major problem here is the "seven". Pare it down to "three" and you shouldn't run into any more of a problem than finding a map that will spawn it like you want.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I made an arc where you kill cows. At first I thought it was a great, original idea but there are actually tons of them out there. I'm still pretty proud of my Moo Mystic and Holy Cow though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

One of the first arcs I played. I thought it was fun!
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Demons and clowns. Overdone. try to do something different.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thing is my "clown" arc is based on a character I created on my first day, three years ago (in fact, conceptualized a few days before, while I waited for the game to be shipped to me). And I first made it in the open Beta. I can't help it if everyone copies me!

  11. You can e-mail someone your local file, I suppose. You'd probably have to include the files for any custom characters involved, though.
  12. Decorum

    Stumped.

    [ QUOTE ]
I just wish they'd give the Unique maps a size indicator. Mine starts out with a Defeat All, but it's in a casino! There's no way you'd miss something. People wouldn't be scared of a defeat all in a tiny map, would they?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I actually ended up taking this out. I figure, the main objective is a glowie. If they don't clean everyone (or very close) out of the casino, they're going to get interrupted clicking it anyway. If not...eh, there'll only be one or two left. It didn't pass the "do I really NEED this" test, so no sense scaring people off with it. I did add to the glowie text in the mission bar "...and clean out the [group]" so the flavor's still there without it being a requirement.
  13. Mine has been...interesting. The bigger part of the Open Beta I spent finding out what it could and couldn't do. It's a good basic system, that just needs some tweaking and additions. I already have several stories my characters have gone through in my head rather than the game (often origins or stories explaining big changes in the character's appearance). I've been stymied quite a few times, but I'm hoping some additions will be made.

One of the biggest that's stopping my "big epic" is that it has to end with an already established big fight between an AV villain and an EB hero (he's supposed to die) and we can't do one on one fights yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the future, but I'm enjoying what we CAN do in the meantime.
  14. I seriously doubt it. Just sounds like another bug to fix.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Wow only two people want or like this idea?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like it, but this is about the fifth or sixth thread I've seen it mentioned in.

Not a slam on you, of course. Many of them may very well have disappeared in the purging of the Beta boards.
  16. Some of the jumps make me scratch my head. Like Pain Domination. Standard will give you just the tier 2 and 3 powers. Hard gives you 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7! I wouldn't mind that set except for the 7 (World of Pain, and it is). Why these big jumps over other powers?
  17. Decorum

    a new joke....

Eh. I can deal with the struggle. It's not THAT hard without stamina, you just have to play differently, like with any fairly decent (missing) power. I've never been in a big hurry. In fact, I solo a lot because everyone is always RUSH RUSH RUSH in missions.
  18. I was quite amused that one of the first missions I did was filled with nothing but cows (all story related and a nicely balanced group of all the boss/lt/minion types). Pretty funny, actually.

    Mooooooo!
  19. I'm skeptical, but I'm not above giving it a try (if the acronym is really getting around). I've edited my arc on my local and was going to do the ton of cut and paste to get it to live later today, so...what the heck, I'll give it a shot.

    a new joke....

I don't care if people do it, but it's always puzzled me. I don't find it the least bit fun. But then, I'm not an "Achiever" type. I like my characters to "live and grow" and get attached to them. I don't want an avatar of a bunch of numbers. Very dull to me.
  21. Decorum

  22. Technically, you were in an AE arc. Strike Force is just the villain-side name for a Task Force. While AE arcs resemble TF/SFs in many ways, there are many differences as well. And the "auto-sk" thing is exclusive to AE.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
"It doesn't annoy me because you have an opposing point of view..."

Apparently it does, given your history of personally attacking virtually every poster with a POV that doesn't agree with yours. You must take great pleasure in being the Fanboy's "thread cop."

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll cop to being snotty at times. I shouldn't, but it comes out. Other than that you're offering a gross exaggeration.

    [ QUOTE ]
"...your "reasoning" is inane, beginning with the fact that you consider Freedom to be the whole game."

Not that it's any of your business, but I have toons on Champion as well. Champion is virtually a "ghost server" except for the times when an event or new issue comes out, which is why - before the MA - Freedom was the best bet you had - population-wise - of finding a team virtually any time day or night. So Freedom is - by nature of its overwhelming player population - if not the "whole game", a major part of it. That noted, I see the same issues happening on Champion that I see happening on Freedom now, only less so because the population is so much smaller to begin with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And yet, we have people from Freedom also calling your issues a gross exaggeration.

    [ QUOTE ]
And it didn't "move it around a little." It moved it around a whole lot,

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK, maybe I'll give you "a whole lot". That's a perspective thing. Point is this is primarily a Freedom problem, just as it always was.

    [ QUOTE ]
something you wouldn't know if you spend most of your time designing missions or playing in MA, because you can't read chat with mission creator open, and you don't get broadcast in AE missions! Come out in the zones once in a while and actually see what's happened to them, and stop sipping the devs' Kool Aid.

    [/ QUOTE ]

**rolls eyes** Yes, that's it. I'm so buried in the MA creator where I can't see chat (you can, you know, but you wouldn't know that) or I'm in an MA mission (which applies to any mission and is pretty irrelevant). Victory's broadcast is quiet. Hardly anything at all ever in anything outside of Atlas and even Atlas isn't full of farmer spam. It's not really the chosen form of communication on Victory, which again illustrates that this is primarily a Freedom problem.

    [ QUOTE ]
"Your bitter overreaction made you quit the game, nothing else."

Your snide and laughable characterizations aside, I quit the game because MA has taken the social aspect out of the game and turned every zone into PI, with all its attendant spam. That may make scintillating gameplay for you, but I see no further point in paying for 2 subs to play a willfully crippled game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh, you quit less than a week into a new issue. You have no more idea how things will be after the shiny wears off than anyone else. Instead you chose to petulantly stomp out the door because things weren't exactly how you wanted them to be. Have fun, that's your call. YOU decided it, the game didn't.

    [ QUOTE ]
Enjoy your AE farms while they last.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wouldn't touch 'em, thanks. Farming is boring.
  24. Ha! Yeah, right. Giving us this tool was far far more work than them writing their own content. This was not the act of a lazy dev team. Your comments, however, are the product of lazy reasoning.
