Quote:The recovery bonus. Really? That's what you'd be afraid of losing? 2.5% is nothing.Well... Depends on what you're building for. The recharge bonus is only like 2% higher (unless you spend a crapton of money to "hopefully" get the catalyst FIVE TIMES), the acc is lower, and you don't get the nice recovery bonus... So, although I will say the unique enhancement from the set is GREAT, and as a whole it may be marginally better than the Posi set, I wouldn't say it's WAY better...
Let me share my secret. I'm not looking at the set bonuses at all. I noticed that the recharge was higher, but not enough to matter. To me, the set bonuses are a wash.
What I'm looking at are enhancement values, and this set is head and shoulders above Posi's Blast. No needless range enhancement. Plenty of recharge in the set itself.
I find this funny. I actually cannot let the set become superior, because at that point I would lose it's 10% recharge bonus thanks to the law of five. I slotted all six pieces of the set in Nova Detonation and used my catalyst on the unique. I keep the recharge bonus that I slotted Posi's blast for, I get better enhancement values, and I get the empowered Form Empowerment. -
Quote:So do us a favor and learn from the history that the change was needed, that the people who were whining were wrong, and that the devs did listen to them anyway, but just didn't change their minds because it was still the right thing to do.Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Those who do not anticipate the future are doomed to resent it.
Then get over it. -
I just picked up a full copy of this set, and I"m looking to grab a second. It's way better than posi's blast.

Quote:I cannot believe anyone would still be bitter over GDN and ED. They were necessary changes that happened a long damn time ago. That seems to happen ... a lot ... when people don't raise a stink within 24 hours of the release of information about new stuff ... and sometimes even if we do, it doesn't make any difference whatsoever ... {shudders in memory of the explosively negative reaction to ED and GDN nerfs prior to CoV melting the Forum software and knocking them offline for days(!), and then watching the *HATED* nerfs go Live anyway, without changes, because Devs WOULDN'T LISTEN}.
Also, as stated, just because they didn't act on the collective whine doesn't mean they didn't listen.
Please try to be mature about it. You've had years to grow up. -
I also think you're picking on the completely wrong aspect.
Why is there so much recharge in the set when it can only go in the summon powers which will not affect any of the henchmens' powers? -
Quote:Dude, we don't even have it bad.I see the crummy special IO from the kheld set made it to live... Think it's possible to get changed now?
Look at the Mastermind set.
Then look at how many /Recharge bits are in it.
Then remember that no mastermind pets benefit from all that recharge.
Then remember that mastermind pets don't even benefit from the set bonuses.
See? We don't have it that bad. -
Quote:I'd suggest Provoke to help avoid this kind of thing.IMy pets have been wiped out and are continuing to be wiped out faster than I can get them out, during or following which, I die.
Quote:Some stupid iTrial mechanic that uses a DoT to bypass the one-shot rule and does infinity billion damage hits me.
Then I contend that you simply don't understand the benefits of extra hitpoints when coupled with other forms of mitigation. I agree that defense would provide more benefit, but again, only to a point. Max HP is certainly very useful. Don't forget the effect it plays on regeneration as well. -
-
My only gripe with your post is that max HP is incredibly useful for Masterminds, as long as they understand bodyguard mode.

If there's one rule that always works for finding good RP, it's simply this:
"Take more interest in the characters you meet than the ones you play." -
This was comedic gold. Platinum, even.
Holy hell this was great.
It took me an hour to post this. I'm still laughing. -
Quote:I recommend a few things. First, maybe read a guide or two. Links are at the top, there are a few Ice tanker guides, and the set hasn't changed too much over the years so they should be mostly current.Well, I'm not asking for help slotting. I just need help choosing powers and when to actually put slots there, and I can just go from there to something else.
That's all I really need right now.
Second, do a search for Ice tanker builds and MA builds. You probably won't find one that is exactly Ice/MA because MA is new, but even just a few other Ice tanker builds will give you a great starting point.
Then put something together.
Then we'll critique it and help you out. Most of us just want to see some effort put into it first. -
I just realized that thread title actually answered the OP's question.
Dark Armor is Pro Form.
Also, you meant to say 'perform.' -
Quote:Thank you for that. But more for the two strips to follow.

Quote:Bravo. 10/10. I'm glad this has all been taken care of now.Lynn held the warm styrofoam cup of hot chocloate in both hands. The morning was chilly here on Talos, typical for this time of year. She looked forward to the coming spring's warmer temperatures, wondering idly if her Kheldian friends were bothered at all by the temperatures.
She'd finally come to terms with the fact that she wasn't a Peacebringer, uniquely Earth-born. And come to realize it didn't lessen her gifts. As the heroine Linnurata, she'd been adopted by Voidbane's group, making friends with both Peacebringers and Warshades as they trained her and eased her into realizing the truth. She wasn't sure whose gratitude was greater, hers or her parents.
Of course, her birthday present was her application to host a Kheldian. She still chuckled at getting that from her folks.
Lynn's reverie was interrupted by the sound of a strident voice from down the street. Looking up from her cocoa, she saw a small crowd watching a rather ragged old man waving his arms and going on quite excitedly about something. She didn't know if it was trouble or not, so she drifted closer.
He was going on about being a demon, Exxon Valdez or some such, who drove a Bentley. At least that's what she thought she heard. She shook her head sadly and gauged the mood of the small crowd. She saw nothing but a mix of amusement and pity on most of the faces.
Then he started ranting about having resurrected Statesman.
She could feel the crowd's mood change. That was one loss the city had not gotten over just yet, and this sort of ranting could become dangerous for the old man. Stepping back, she pulled out her cell phone.
"Paragon psychiatric, Debbie speaking, how may I help you?"
She gave a quick rundown of the situation to the nurse on duty, who promised to send help. That taken care of, she drifted back to the small crowd. She picked out the people who were getting most upset and went to them, convincing them with gentle word to go about their business and not let the crazy man upset them.
Minutes later, she was waving goodbye to the ambulance taking the old man away. She hoped he'd get the help he needed. And a bath, while he was at it.
DV, we promise to visit every once in a while and make sure your padded walls are sufficiently padded. -

Quote:Psssh. They don't scare my DA tank until they're +4. Used to be scary at +3 before incarnate stuff. You were doing Malta, at +1x8, on a HARDCORE TOON, without running granite?
But really, Sailboat, Malta fights dirty. They could have gotten lucky and landed a few defense debuffs in a row, and after that the stuns just pile on.
Edit as an afterthought: My obsession with Dark Armor is the reason I'd never play a "Hardcore" characters. A lot of the set's reliability comes from the ability to shrug off defeat. Likewise, the theme of the set is that "I don't really die the first time." I'd either feel like I was cheating the Hardcore idea or the character's ability. -

The First Rule of DKTF is...
Crap. I'm not supposed to talk about it.
Anyway, my most important rule is: At all times you must be having fun. At the end of the day, we're playing a game. If you're not having fun, something's wrong.
The second most important rule is: Any build, any budget, no exclusions. -

Quote:Good point. Some people expect RP to conform nicely to their personal happy ideals. Which, really, isn't going to happen. Not all the time. Which is, really, the way it kinda should be. *shrug*
You know, I'd go so far as to say the "non-conforming" to personal ideals is necessary. I've grown to hate movies that have happy endings lately. That stuff just doesn't happen. I think that's why I've been so taken by the Song of Fire and Ice books (Complete random tangent to the topic at hand, I know, but bear with me).
It's the conflict that makes the scene "real." If everyone gets along all happy go lucky, it just feels fake and I can't enjoy it. Standard "your mileage may vary," of course.
Then again, I may just be crazy.
