Hit 'em with a single target buff. For some reason, it converts them back into being under your control.
Even the upgrade, I've found, will solve the problem, but only one the henchman you target. This becomes very end taxing if more than a few pets are bugged. -
Do you have bosses turned on in your difficulty settings?
Yes, I read your post, you've seen bosses in CoT, Longbow, and Arachnos missions. The reason I'm asking is because CoT, Longbow, and Arachnos bosses stand out in a crowd, even if they are downgraded to LTs.
With Council, however, a downgraded boss will blend in with the rest of the mobs. Personally, I have trouble telling the difference between a vampire boss and a vampire LT, same with warwolves and galaxies. A lot of the "normal human" bosses even look the same as the LTs, so it'd be hard to pick them out if you aren't very familiar with the names. -
I had an argument recently with a global friend of mine about the subject of GMs and MMs. He is a scrapper more often than not, while I am an MM. I don't have an exact record of the conversation, but this is pretty close:
Scrapper: MMs and scrappers can solo AVs, but it takes a scrapper to solo a GM.
Me: What are you talking about? MMs have soloed GMs before.
Scrapper: I'm talking without temps/insps.
Me: So am I.
Scrapper: MMs can't sustain [some number]DPS required to overcome regen. It's not possible. (I think he said 350... I could easily be wrong.)
Me: But masterminds have tools like -resist and -regen that increase effective DPS.
Scrapper: Whatever.
Me: I haven't done it myself, my build isn't ready yet, but I've seen it. I wouldn't argue like this if I hadn't.
He still wouldn't believe it. An argument like that isn't enough for me to get bent about, but a day later, I noticed he wasn't on my global friends list anymore. Obviously he got his panties in a bunch because he didn't want to hear how scrappers can be equaled, if not surpassed.
I know that MMs can solo GMs. We don't need no stinking temps or insps either! Again, I can't do it yet, but I know someone can. So I beg of you, the MM community, provide me with hard, undeniable proof. Bring me videos! Toot your own horn! Show me it can be done, and I will convey the information to the doubting scrapper. Together, we can break the narrow minded scrapper who lives outside of debuffs. -

Scrappers and brutes are pretty equivalent. If you like your brute, roll a scrapper. They will play much the same way, except that you don't have to build fury.

I'm going to log into Freedom early, turn of XP earning, and sit in my supergroup base just to take up a slot on the server! Muahahahahaha!
No, I'll be farming prestige with my bots/traps on virtue. -
No.
Actually, it depends on the power sets you pick, but generally: Very no.
Bots/traps is my favorite, and I never have a dull moment. I use caltrops strategically to cluster the enemies, and lightning cages to hold them there. I use all my traps all the time, and I taunt like your grade school bully.
Thugs/poison is a close second, also a busy person. Send in the bruiser, heal him on occasion and debuff the heavy hitters. I didn't take the rez power because if I have to use it, I didn't do my job right.
Zombies/thermal is a little passive, but that character is still low level. Shield up the zombies and let them go to town, healing as needed. I don't even have the grave knight yet, but I still don't see this as being a "passive" set. There's always micromanaging to be done. -

That's a recent topic in the Player Questions section.
The guy wanted to name his pet Arthur.
You want to know another odd invalid name?
For 25 levels, my character had Club.1, Club.2, Club.3, Heart.1, and Heart.2. The Assbot was going to be the Spade, but that name's invalid. -

EDIT TO ADD:
Not to be a jerk, but imagine that, a stickied topic in the Kheldian forums called Kheldian Binds and Strategies. It's right at the top too! -
I think all that information is stored in a .txt document on your computer. It should be possible to copy the file and change header information to work for your other accounts.

Bots/Traps is my favorite character. I'm busy running x8 malta, CoT, and carnie missions with him for leet lewt.
I'm not going to say this is the only way to do things. I'm not even going to say it's a good way. I will say that this is what I do, and it has gotten me this far.
I took no personal attacks. Not even air superiority or something like that. I do have Mu lightning cages though, and use them frequently.
I took every trap except detonator. I use them all. Caltrops has four damage procs, one proc for knockdown, and a recharge enhancer. I used to have detonator, but ever since I got myself and the bots softcapped, I haven't had any near death to use it on. Triage beacon is perma, and I find it invaluable. The acid mortar has an Achilles proc for -resist.
My pools are teleportation, presence, leadership, and speed. Notice I don't have stamina. I run all three leadership toggles all the time. I don't have endurance problems. Speed's only there for hasten, and really only as a "panic button."
My bots are always in bodyguard mode. I taunt like your sixth grade bully. I have a macro set up that commands just the Assbot and protectors to attack, but I've never used it. -
I've taken a Thugs/Poison up to level 26 entirely solo. Lots of fun, and very powerful. I didn't even have noxious gas! I hear that's what really puts thugs/poison over the top, a noxious bruiser.
I still like him, but I met a few friends who play on Virtue. I'm not paying for server transfers, so I just re-rolled all my characters and haven't gotten back around to him yet. -
One thing that I didn't see mentioned, the proc is +end, not recovery.
So when you do a nuke, or a sapper hits you for minus a billion recovery, the proc can still give you endurance. -
My bots/traps loves this change, and so does my level 30 warshade who found a purple while playing with some SG mates last night.
-
I made a fire/electric blaster who's a stage magician in a tuxedo and tophat.
No two powers use the same colors, and they're all sorts of flashy. Green/blue fireball and pink/yellow fire breath I think are my favorites. Perhaps the purple/turquoise rain of fire. -
Quote:Unfortunately, passive negates BG mode.Follow/Aggressive and Follow/Defensive can both be interrupted by aggro or attack. To bring them back in a hurry use Follow/Passive and switch them when they return to a more constructive stance.
In my experience, hitting follow passive and then immediately hitting follow defensive will make them return to your side and even wait a second or two before actually engaging the enemy again, without the risk of being out of bodyguard mode. -
Quote:"Finish him. Finish him, your way."Eh. Most 'mastermind' villains I can think of employ witless thugs, and do so as THEY are the ones playing 'brain' to the thugs. Trying to get to get the thugs to do what they want frustrates them at times, but there is never any risk of mutiny, as the thugs wouldn't know what to do without the masterminding villain.
"Oh good, my way. Thank you Vizzini... what's my way?"
"Pick up one of those rocks, get behind a boulder, in a few minutes the man in black will come running around the bend, the minute his head is in view, hit it with the rock." -
Quote:I think I change my list to this. Except for Masterminds. Genius masterminds build robots and lay traps. Witless masterminds employ witless minions.Sorry, on topic.
My picks: (By 'theme,' not function)
Brute: Claws/Willpower: As you attack or get attacked, you tear through foes with your bare hands, with almost feral ferocity. You are also tough enough to take it, within limits.
Blaster: Energy/energy: Blast foes with devastating energy, sending enemies flying with your pure, destructive justice.
Controller:Mind/FF: Control the minds of your foes, and protect your team.
Corruptor: Rad/Dark: Prey on the weak, weakening them even more, then finishing them off. Infect foes with deadly energy, and steal their life away.
Defender: Tricky, as there are so many way to go at it. I'd have to go Empathy/Psi, with a FULL empathy build (Not just heals) Looking out for the team, and using attacks to weaken your foes in many ways.
Dominator: Mind/Fire Make your foes helpless, then destoy them. (And nothing say 'destroy' like burning someone whose mind you just shut down.)
Scrapper: Martial Arts/Super Reflexes: Able to beat down the toughest bossses with your fighting skills, and a fighter's reflexses to stay alive.
Stalker: Ninja Blade/Ninjitsu. Sneak, then kill. Or just kill. But sneakily.
Mastermind: Thugs/Traps-An army of witless minions at your beck and call while you devise way to weaken enemies and protect yourself
Tanker: Invulnerability/Superstrength- Unkillable except against those that prey on the mind, and able to shake the earth with your bare hands. -
Quote:See comments. What powerset combos do you all think fit each archetype the most iconically?
Blaster: Fire Blast/Fiery Melee Destruction on such an enormous scale...
Controller: Earth Control/Trick Arrow Nothing moves - total control.
Defender: I can't put a single combo in here that fits better than others.
Scrapper: ... Again, anything fits here, only so long as it keeps killing things.
Tank: Stone Armor/Anything You can't hurt me, and I shall whittle at your health as I am able.
Brute: Super Strength/Willpower The will to smash many many things. Hard.
Stalker: Anything/Ninjitsu Come on, they're ninjas!
Mastermind: Robotics/Traps. A mastermind always lays traps for his enemies to fall into.
Dominator: Mind Control/Mental Assault "I will destroy your mind."
Corruptor: Ice Blast/Dark Miasma Nothing corrupts like raw power.
By no account do I believe that these are the only good combos, but I think they fit the archetypes best. -
It's 75% resist with all 6 pets in range. The math on that is this: You take two shares of damage, each pet takes 1. With six pets, damage gets split up into 8 shares, and you get 2 of them, or 1/4 of all damage. Therefor, 75% resist.
You said you have stamina. That should be plenty.Quote:I think I've got a pretty good build now. Although I don't have a place to slot the recovery uniques, I do snag quite a lot of recovery bonuses so hopefully that'll be enough. -
Well, now, that was unexpected.
I can't really turn down a billion, but I know it was borderline outrageous to ask for (I'm sure someone on these forums would do it for less, if not free).
If you're serious, though, I'll give you something that's bloody invincible and steamroll capable. Budget is very subjective though, because RITE NAO prices are very different from "willing to wait a day" prices.
I'll get to it when I get home tonight. -
Quote:My bots/traps runs all three leadership toggles without stamina, but I made up for that with a miracle unique in perma triage beacon and other set bonuses.I've heard you don't need fitness, but I tend to pick it up on every toon out of habit. I don't really use a lot of endurance. I don't have any buffs and the majority of TA's attacks are only used like once a fight, and the ones used more often aren't that endurance heavy. On the other hand I'm taking at least 3 toggles with my build so my end drain is going to be anyway from about 0.7/s to 1/s. If I drop Fitness completely my recovery won't even be 2/s.
This is the last thing I can really say: BG mode is effective 75% resist; your other resists are icing on top. Couple that with flash arrow's -tohit and you are very durable.Quote:Not to mention I don't even think I'd have the personal durable to really utilize provoke. I've got 30% S/L defense, 25% Energy defense, 11% Negative defense, 17% toxic resistance (woohoo), and everything else is too low to really rely on, though with BG mode maybe it's not such a big deal...
You just made my day. Thanks!Quote:I feel I know a lot more about MMs now. Thanks
-
Quote:It is an issue. In addition to my bots being softcapped to everything, I have provoke. Generally, my bots don't ever take damage. When they do, I tend to heal faster than my protectors. In any case, my prot bots run into melee. If ... your Drones aren't getting hurt (thus the Protectors don't have to heal them), that might also be an issue.
It doesn't bother me anymore, because I teamport into the mess of enemies to start. -
