  1. Nothing ever came about with the additional reaction to the powerset announcement?

As for the top 10, really like #3. LoZ: TP can be a timesink. (or most any of the LoZ games)
  2. Couple of things I can think of, to improve upon the suggestions:

    1) For the SF Gap: Additional 40-50 SFs, ala the shard TFs. Just no where near as nasty. There are already badges in place for SFs led by the patron leaders. (main example: the bugged 'master of the scorpion clan' badge) Also, The LRSF badge has a number 3, so expand on that numbering system. I think Master of the Scorpion Clan badge is a 5.

    2. The Black Helicopters: The first ones only connect cap and mercy, then there's additional ones that only connect nerva and I think st. mart. What about connecting those two, but have it as part of some sort of unlocking, like the mole point in the Cascades, blue side? You physically have to talk to the pilot of the helicopter in each zone so that you can use that copter and fly to that zone from the others. (example: I talk to the guy in mercy and cap. now i can fly between mercy and cap. i go talk to the guy in st. mart, then i can fly between mercy, cap, and st. mart)

    3. The secret contacts: what about having current, 'normal' contacts have some sort of fedex or chain mission involving the secret contacts? It's already ingame with I believe it's Maros in Shark. He has a 2 part mission, the first of which sends you to the secret contact Tarixus. From there, you have a kill all iirc. Point is, for those who didn't know Tarixus was there, you've been sent to him, and once you did the fedex bit, you could talk to him again and see that he was a secret contact with requirements.

    4) I was thinking about a self-contained zone or two. I know that more zones is not necessarily a good thing, and that there isn't a large population to begin with, but the overall sweeping story (ala hollows, croatoa), and additional content for those ranges.

What about the Webpage that displays everyones charcter stats and info? Is that ever really coming? Can we get an update on that tommorw?

    [/ QUOTE ]

LH gave us an update on this either yesterday or the day before; check his posts in the dev digest for the correct one. Basically, some tech snags have popped up, or something like that. They're working on it, but they're having to bring in new tech to handle it, or something like that.

Here is an exclusive preview of part 2 of Gamezone's article:

    [ QUOTE ]
Dr. Brainstorm: I was conducting an experiment last night and a bolt of lightning struck my exposed brain. This not only necessitated more bandaging, it also completely wiped all memory of the forthcoming powersets being proliferated from my mind. Terribly sorry about that (muahaha). But don't worry, I have the list safely secured in a vault at a lab in Grandville. The vault has an elaborate lock but fear not, I still remember the combination to open it. The lock, however, also has a timer and won't actually open until three days after the combination has been entered. Come back on Monday for more information. Until then, get out of my lab! Muahaha!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *fade to black*

Note: Change "Monday" to whatever is desired for maximum doomedness.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Even better, when Brainstorm goes to enter the code in GV, he constantly gets dc'd and is unable to move to his lab in the first place.

Tomorrow... "Tomorrow" isn't a problem, and in fact, is pretty informative all on it's own, compared to the oft-quoted: Soon™...

    [/ QUOTE ]

And just think, we've got more goodies for you next week too!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ummm, would it be safe to say it'll include a 'Tune in for the week after next for details of the goodies next week!?

And to agree with other posters, yea.. more details would have been nice. Or just say "sorry, delayed, come back tomorrow".. something other than this. This is getting a box, opening the box, and seeing pretty much nothing inside.

If there is a SG anywhere on any server that is still barely active and possesses an IoP then THIS would be the time to speak up!!!

I'll travel to any server and make a run on an IoP for the badge, if anybody can let me know they own one!

I had no idea there were a few still laying around...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Check the badger section of the forums, dolly. There's an SG on Infinity that still has theirs right now, iirc.

Devs are gonna redo the Positron Task Force to make it more in line with how task forces are now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yea, that's about the biggest thing I read as I went through the transcript. This, then 2nd being they're thinking about doing more real events like the wedding on V-Day.. not entirely thrilled about that, but eh. Redo-ing Posi's a very nice step. Now, do that, and turn your guns on Quarterfield...

    2. Reduce the minimum number of players required for a TF or SF to a maximum of six. Only exception: STF and LRSF, since they are meant to be endgame challenges and "hardcore".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just to quickly touch on this (since I'm on the Training Room with the Wedding Event, but reading here too) - most Task Forces and Strike Forces have a requirement of 4. I was looking over documentation on the list of SF/TF.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    BS, LH.

    let's walk through this together.

    Posi: 3.
    Synapse: 4.
    Sis: 5.
    Cit: 6.
    Manti: 7.
    Numina: 4.
    Q: 8.
    Sara: 8.
    Augustine: 8.
    Faathim: 8.
    STF: 8.
    LRSF: 8.
Cap, mantis, renault, mistral: all 4.
    LGTF: 8.

The average is higher than 4.

    Valentines Event

Why not just put them out for open like everything else? Look, i love the game, i'm not saying doom or anything, i just dont' understand why pay for it and not offer it free like always with everything else.

    Valentines Event

you're kidding me.. pay for the emotes? wow.
  13. ok, time for me to be a noob:

How does one activate the combat monitor window in the first place? I can pull up the combat attributes (the huge thing), but i've looked all over the options menu and cannot find a button to active this small combat monitor window.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I got a question, so if we kill anything its Double xp or is it just double XP for completeing missions or is it double xp for Everything like completeing missions, killing, and finding loot in glowing boxes?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Option C that you defined.

    killing stuff -----------------> Double Xp
    completing missions -------> Double Xp
Inf from glowies ------------> Double Xp

    plus:

story arc completion bonuses ---> Double Xp
The bonus for completing Flashback missions ---> maybe? haven't had double xp with flashback before. I'd guess yes.

Lots of fun! Will the Valentine's event be active then, or afterwards?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Silly! Look at a Calendar Valentine's Day isn't until February 14th!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    doom!...double xp THEN v-day event!....DOOM!!™

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe it's a subtle hint, we need lots of inf for the V-day event?

Huzzah either way. More inf to buy purps.
  16. *as snow has removed the quote, so i will remove the quote*

So since I choose not to create a puzzle, I shouldn't offer any sort of opinion (positive or negative) at all, and should just shut up? Then what's the point of having a "discussion" thread in the first place?
  17. Perhaps you should examine a real newspaper of some sort. They all have some sort of instructions for their puzzles, even if it is merely one to two lines long. Do most all the people who do puzzles know what they're doing and don't need the instructions? Most likely, yes. However, could there be one or two that don't? Also, likely.

Now, why would we (as a community) want to force those that don't to hit google for a minute or two to find instructions, when that could be avoided with a simple sentence at the top/bottom of the page?

    [ QUOTE ]
All the while I am in the middle of a final project that is due Sunday (School on Sunday? Blech!) I humbly ask that you give me a break.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps then no puzzle for the week? I assume most of us have the mentality of RL > game, so your situation of a final on a Sunday would have been accepted, i would assume.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also, unless you can get a static image to move, I don't think that you will have any success moving the pieces around.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There has also been mention, from time to time, I believe by Ex, saying that for a print-able copy, or something like that. This could have been an example of that. Far-fetched, i understand that.

    [ QUOTE ]
Also the instructions are everywhere you care to look from newspapers to the Internet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I assume again that the idea behind the scoop is to try and make it some form of a "true" newspaper? Then why not spend the extra 2 minutes and put in 2 sentences of instructions? Not sure what's so hard about that. However, if there is some sort of coding or programming difficulty surrounding that, then i'll back off. Wouldn't know anything about that, so i'd concede to the folks that do.
  18. Once again I seem to be the one to question the puzzle and its rules/goal. I assume this is a basic jig-saw type puzzle, but had to ask. At first when I looked at it, I thought it might be the type where there's 1 spot blank, and you have to move the pieces around (can't remember what it's called atm).

For future reference, (just like the sudoku) some small box explaining the puzzle of the week.
  19. Only a few minor points:

couple of typos here and there. Not sure the typing medium (typing like this, right to a pm-type thing, or off of word), so can't suggest spell check or what not. Didn't seem that big though.

Other point is the main article, having the server location for it at the end of the article. Usually, main important details are listed early on. Maybe, in the 'where' area, had Croatoa train station, Liberty server ?
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Keep in mind that CoH has quite a few redundant contacts - there are several different ones that offer the same story arcs, as I recall (and you randomly get one of them with any given character). They could just be thinning the herd, so to speak.

I'm curious about the TF-related ones, though (Katie Hannon, Ernesto Hess, and Sara Moore). They have taken out TF contacts before, so there is some precedent for it...

    [/ QUOTE ]

1st off, the multiple contacts is (in most cases) a good thing.. usually random who you get unless there's only 1 contact for that level range and origin, but at least it mixes things up a bit each time through.

2nd: iirc, the only TF they took out was Calvin Scott b/c the story about sis psy and AB moved on. However, if we do end up with Flashback and some sort of time-travelling, I severely hope they put Calvin Scott back in.
  21. Good to know, LH. Definitely glad we're starting to semi-get in the habit of announcing when we're having a patch update.
  22. Great.. more RP..

Perhaps they finally came to their senses and took a week off, considering some of the more notable.. discussions.. that have gone on the past few weeks? Sort of a "let the forum calm down a bit" kind of thing.
  23. Couple little bits this time:

    1) do we know what server Steel Magnolia's from? I'm assuming that the server name got lost before this went to print. If i'd had to guess, i'd say liberty b/c the one question and answer mentioned an alt on lib. just curious.

    2) Missed the table of contents this time. Just seemed a handy feature.

    3) Anybody else get slightly lost when following the BtM conversations? Had a small problem tracking each article. (But no, can't really think of a better way to organize them)

    4) Good Scorn horoscopes this week. A complete seperation from LA's, and humorous.

    [ QUOTE ]

The Eden and Sewer Trial aren't killing anyone currently They are still do-able content and have the additional reward of the rare recipe for anyone running them to choose from. Like anything in life, there is always room for improvement. Lets not get too down on them. Thanks.

    [/ QUOTE ]
As stated before, you have to have someone in that level range to even start it and it also only gives TF recipes... instead of you know... trial recipe... Till then, I guess we should call it the Sewer Task Force and Eden Task Force. Would be more fitting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And at that point, you're just leading to even more confusion about what classifies as a Trial and what classifies as a TF. (Trials being failable, with either a clock or the "protect the reactor" bit for the respecs, while TF's can't be failed in the normal sense. They can be disbanded, of course, but not "failed".)

I hate to disagree with you- the manticore piece is comedic genius. It is meant to be comical not to insult your hero.

Rose, it's not even funny. It's hardly readable, barely understandable.. how this thing made it into the CS is beyond me.. Looks more like they just took something out of the utter trash and garbage that is the PWNZ forums.
