  1. I love my earth controller. One of the best things about it is the amount of procs that can be slotted in powers. Someone said about not using stone cages as you level, which I don't find at all, I constantly spam it on teams, in combo with stalagmites its as good as a hold (mine has trap of the hunter chance for lethal and positrons blast chance for energy) Quicksand is a great defence debuff and slow, very worthwhile using in teams (again I have Impeded Swiftness chance for smashing). Though I found as I levelled that earthquake is the power I tend not to need to use much though I do as it has Achilles Heel chance for res debuff and Lady Grey chance for neg energy in it.
  2. Depends which version of fire melee scrappers get, brute version better st damage or tank version for better aoe damage
  3. LRM can be well slotted with just 4 slots and the right IOs. Sleep can take a very cheap purple set.

I find little need for LRM, but it is fun, though I find just as little need for Sleep grenade but I get great set bonuses

It depends on what you want to do. Focused accuracy may be overkill if all you'll be doing is PvE. If you do take it then Conserve Power is a good follow up pick to go with it as FA is Endurance heavy.

[/ QUOTE ]I would have to disagree here. I constantly have FA running, and don't have Stamina on my Claws/Regen, and have never needed to take CP. It depends entirely on your scrapper's build!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

and OP is a SR scrapper, who doesn't have QR, and has to run more toggles. Advice was solid considering his sets.
  5. Death_Badger

    Best debuffer?

Actually if you use Achilles Heel chance for res debuff in rad attacks you can debuff both defence and res. And the res debuff is much longer lasting than sonic attacks, ideal for AVs and the like.
  6. I can't understand all the doom mongering that is going on about PVP which is missing a few simple facts...

    1) no one knows exactly how the new sets will pan out heroside, there may well be tweaks.

    2) No one has even the slightest clue how the VEATS will fit in, in either a PVE or PVP perspective. It is likely they will have psi damage, perception buffs, stealth. Sounds pretty potent for PVP with buffs from team mates. (especially when compared to kheldians)

So until we know exactly what the new ATs will do can we just tone down the doom mongering?
  7. Didn't most of the villain sets come from the hero side anyway?

I find it most amusing when villain players shout Oh noes our precious exclusive sets... When all of the best sets from heroes went to villains in I6....
  8. Willpower can be incredibly survivable with a decent build. Needs a lot of support for a less defensive build (ie no tough/weave). However against +3 or higher foes it just can't hold aggro through the taunt aura, which unless the team is aware of can cause problems.

Ice helps the team more than any other tank by slowing enemies and reducing damage with the aura. Can be extremely survivable but needs the player to know the powerset and the limitations.

Fire can be squishy, though this reputation has been enhanced by people with no clue how to play tanks, they seem drawn to fire tanks. Lots of bad builds out there but when you see a decent fire tank in action it is still extremely survivable. Downside is that the Jumpnig pool can't really be avoided even with IOs as it provides both immob and KB protection.

Not really played stone or inv past 30 so can't comment. However a lot of the survivability of tanks comes from player knowledge and a decent build.
  9. I think Elec/elec is more likely for both tanks and scrappers.
  10. Stalkers aren't exactly what I'd consider fast levellers. Nowhere near the speed of a brute. Some MMs are pretty quick to level too (my bots/dark took less than a week to 33)

Soloing on a regen is stupidly easy, on invince my regen doesn't use any of the clickies the passive regen from integration is plenty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What a ludicrous statement. Ever tried an Elite Boss, or a Bane Spider Boss. Obviously you must avoid actually doing anything remotely difficult when soloing as 40 or so hp/sec isn't enough to overcome the spike damage from the majority of bosses.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So I really don't get your comment about soloing EB's being so hard or, far beyond, soloing Bane bosses... mainly as the quickest xp to solo your way after SOs lv is go farm Sirens and then WB quick arachnos missions. Bosses spike damage is a laugh with gadgets like Dull Pain, reconstruction, IH, MOG... and the huge regen you get from integration, fast healing and health. No matter how tough a boss hits, you will always have a heal up again before getting into hairy hp levels. A regen needn't worry on a single tough baddie dmg, AV's aside.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Please actually read what you are quoting. Cynic Stated he doesn't need to use clickies when soloing which I said was a load of rubbish, and which you actually agreed with me on! So why are you trying to pick an argument with me when you actually agree with me that you DO need to use your self heals to solo....

(I never stated that I find soloing in any way difficult on a regen I was simply using examples of mobs which it is virtually impossible to solo without using your clicky powers in order to illustrate my point)

Teaming on my regen, now then I have to start clicking powers, but hey isn't that when my attacks are most needed? I dont enjoy playing regen because I can always survive on a regen but I cant always be sure I can save anyone else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I actually find the reverse unless its a really bad team. You have the support of others and someone else holding the majority of aggro in most cases so very rarely have to use you heals.

    [ QUOTE ]
Having experience on all scrapper secondaries (all be it DA as a brute not a scrapper) I can honestly say that regen is the set that I have to think the least when playing. I don't need to worry about timing because there is always a click when I need it. Maybe the fact I have siphon life from DM as well helps that but I find regen to be too simple to play.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dark Melee/Regen is by far the easiest ride to 50 of any scrapper set.

You don't seem to realise that the primary plays a huge part in how fun the secondary is (it being the primary after all). I find Claws and Spines vastly more fun than DM, Katana, BS...
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
well regen got it's own rez, I like Regen very much, because I do have to pay attention! I have to be active for my own survivability

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thing is, while a regen is active for his own survivability, he is not bashing foes or doing much else, hence usually outclassed by other scrappers when dealing damage.
Scrappers should be imo active all the time, checking on squishies that might have aggro, killing the boss, killing the foes that are frying the team with ranged attacks... heck, even trying to contain the other mob aggroed by mistake insetad of choosing which heal is available now and which one will be next one to use, the set may grant them being alive at the end of each and every fight, but any skilled scrapper can do that with any other secondary while being far more helpful for the team.

Regens on PvE are not even scrappers, just the ultimate selfish empaths.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Having taken every scrapper set past 40 (and all but inv to 50, I can look at your statement with the derision it deserves...

    Fire Tank Build

Thats not really too big a consideration to me, I have done all the low level TFs, and don't intend to get all of the flkashback badges. Mainly found that if I do exemp I'm in the 30+ range anyway. Though the obvious answer to change it to an exemping build would be Blazing Aura at 12 and Plasma Shield at 18, with Boxing and Tough at 24,26
  15. [ QUOTE ]

I'm available most evenings, but i'd suggest 8pm either this friday (22nd) or sunday (24th). I'll try and get in touch with you all in game, but feel free to reply here on the forums anyway ^_^

    [/ QUOTE ]

I doubt thise dates are the best dates to arrange this for, it being Omega Sektor, Easter etc...

Best days for me are Tues/Weds
  16. I have 2 alts who neeeeeed the badge, can contact me on @Death Badger or @Death Badger2

    Edit:both alts are L50
  17. Death_Badger

    Plant Control!!

There is absolutely no chance of controllers ever getting dark as a secondary.

    Fire Tank Build

Finally got around to a respec for my fire tank and this is what I came up with, feel free to critique, and for some reason it doesn't seem to want to add the +recovery and regen from the uniques.. oh well

  19. I think if they are matching powersets thematically then illusion and dark would go well together. With electric... would it be possible to cobble together an electric primary out of all the different powers that are out there ?
  20. Death_Badger

    Plant Control!!

Depends what the secondary they fetch across is. I hope its poison as plant/poison works thematically for me...
  21. [ QUOTE ]

And anyone knows how it works exactly in Hurricane? Like Carni already mentioned do you need to hit mobs with hurricane to have the proc do a check?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Answered earlier in the thread Blue, yes it only procs when you hit stuff with it.
  22. Death_Badger

    So here it is

Ice as primary for sure, the holds to stop you being mezzed/hurt badly are nice. For secondary either energy or electric.
  23. Achilles heel chance for res debuff slots nicely in earthquake. And Force Feedback only procs when hurricane is effecting something.
  24. Death_Badger

    Help! ???/SR :D

Any primary can go well with SR. In my opinion dark melee is probably the best synergy.

Regen is easy mode, SR is tough at early levels. Dark can be slow going. Willpower has a bit of everything but feels squishy early on.
