A corruptors base damage is 75% of a blasters. A defenders is 66%. A corruptors cap is 500%, compaired to a defenders 400%. Corruptors get the beauty that is scourge. Overall, a corruptor can do way more damage than a defender.
If I had the oppotunity, I'd switch my D3 to a D2C in a second. The increase in offensive potential would be massive, while dark debuffs by so much the reduction would make little impact on how safe I was.
In fact, thinking about it, in 1v1 between a defender and a corruptors with identical powersets, I'd bet on the corruptor to win most of the time. -

has mentioned a powerset (I think) has taken fire or ice ...

I've gone Rad.
I agree with everything Syn so elequently put in his last post. -

You're all missing the point. To be an offender, or offensive corrupter proper, you actually need to be able to survive your blood lust. Kinetics boosts 'offence' but provides none of the required protection which you sorely require when dishing out big hits. Posibly removing all teh mobs end, or slowing them so much they cant move etc, but practically thats difficult as all your powers are single target.
If your in a team then Kinetics is by far the best offensive set. By the time youve hung a rad / dark debuff on someone, the rest of the team has killed your anchor and removed the benefits.
[/ QUOTE ]
I completely and totally disagree with this.
Kinetics has absolutly everything a corruptor needs to build an offensive solo build. It is a totally different style of soloing than a rad or dark, but no less effective. A Dark/ defender and, from my limited experiments with them a /dark corruptor (I've never played a /rad corruptor or rad/ defender, but I'd guess it is the same) plays like a tank with a bit of range. A /kin plays like a less squishy blaster.
If you want a bit of defence you can use a fairly defensive primary like Dark Blast, but it is not neccesary - I went for the supremely offensive Rad, because I am strong like bull.
They also play the same in teams - kinetics gives everyone a side order of blaster, dark gives everyone a side order of tank, and rad gives everyone a bit of both. -

We lack a website

Not entierly true. Reanne sorted out the space. It's just I have comprehensivly failed to do anything with it.
I must reiterate that we are talking about an elite cadre of players here. In our heroic guise a group of us once managed one of the Shards TFs with only 122 deaths total. -
Cosmic Burst rocks so hard I weep tears of joy every time the magic word "scourge" appears in conjunction with its use.
Also it has a pretty much guarenteed stun, which is very useful. -
I'm certainly up for a bit of test server 1v1ing, as I've got a whole bunch of test builds I want to try out.
I may, and this is just a theory at the moment, but I may have even thought of a potential use for Black Hole! -
I've got SJ on my SS/Inv Brute. CJ when combined with hurdle is top notch for wizzing about between mobs, and Brutes strike me as a very bouncy AT.
Having said that, I'd also pick up Air Superiority as well, just because it is very good indeed. -

I feel such a cheater...

I felt a cheetah once. I'm now banned from London Zoo. -
I have to say, I've had no problems with team invites in CoH at 50 (D3), 35 (PB) and 1-13 (WS) recently. If anything it has been slightly easier than CoV.
-
I converted someone to the church of SB yesterday with my Rad/Kin. It made me feel all fuzzy inside.
-
A solution.
1) Find seven other likeminded similar level empaths who have found that the invites have started drying up.
2) Form a team.
3) Everyone ABs, Forts and CMs each other in an orgy of buffage. An aura cycle is established.
4) Your team of regen blasters runs through missions in a display of violence not normally seen outside of the last half hour of John Woo's Hong Kong films. -
The endurance use is large, the heal is small (I'd guess, but not swear that it is smaller than your area heal).
And I don't do colours at quater to three in the morning. -
I would strongly suggest not taking it if you have any other method of healing yourself.
When I say any other method I include resting, standing around not doing anything, and colouring in the bar on your monitor with a red pen to psycologically convince yourself that you're at full health. -
anything at all/kin
+recharge
+endurance
+speed
+damage
=SMASH! -
It is absoultly 100% possible to play a /kin corruptor without stamina.
I've got a level 31 rad/kin without it, and it really isn't a problem most of the time. You need to realise that it is possible to start a fight on 50% endurance, and occasionaly switch from AoE mode to single target, but it really doesn't cause that much of an issue, and lets you get three interesting powers instead of the fitness pool.
Once you get speed boost, you can scrounge blues off the rest of the team, for those moments when you are running low in a major fight. -
I've gone for dark mostly for concept.
I find the armour very useful, and combined with shadowfall, gives you some very reasonable resistance numbers. Also, with an all black costume and blue starburst eyes, the SF/armour combo makes you look a bit like a Dark Servant, which has comedy value (an underrated factor in power selection imo).
Soul Drain is a whole bunch of awsome wrapped up in a bundle of fantastic. Three recharges and it will be up most if not all fights.
Dark consumption has, as mentioned earlier, a very long recharge. I've found it most use as a post nuke recovery power.
The health for disorient thing I've only tried on test. The health drain was negligable, but the disorient was too. -
My reason for going with debuffs in Fearsome Stare is that there are occasions when you really don't want all your debuffing working through toggles. However, I've also used recharge slotting at times, and it is equally effective. It really is one of those powers where if I could 12 slot it I would.
Now I4 Fearsome Stare... That was a power. *wonders off remenicing about triple stacking without even having to slot recharge enhancements* -
Looks like my build. Pick up hover at 6 and fly at 14, and then hasten and SS when you can fit them in, any you'll be fine.
Note, the levels I added the various slots are more or less random. When actually leveling the build from 1-50, stick them in whatever seems sensible at the time. -
Give me a shout in game Kensa and I shall demonstrate why repel should be taken, even if you only use it for keepy-upy competitions.

Dark/Psi is better for control than Dark/Dark
*sigh* reminds me of Buff Love

He posted the other day about getting back on once he had destroyed the uni system with unauthorised software/got permission.
OI! Buff! You back on yet?!?!
Back on topic, Dark Miasma will work with more or less anything, as it is a set which is mostly about making you very safe indeed.
Every single power in Dark Miasma is very good aside from Black Hole which is rubbish. I'm sure Buff, Ravenmyst or one of the other Dark/Psi types will be able to post a bit more about set synergy when they come along. -

You'll drink it and you'll bloody well enjoy it, Controller filth. -
I was a little skeptical before getting it too.
Having got it, I have decided that it is great. I use it in AV/EB fights mostly, or when a situation looks like it is heading south fast.
Running Herostats or having some kind of timer is very useful though, as you really want to make sure you are out the way for the crash, so you can pop a blue and green/dull pain and get back in there.
I slot three resists and three recharges in mine. -

Won't Acrobatics stop me getting knocked around like a pinball in Longbow missions and the like, though?
[/ QUOTE ]
As Icelock says, with unyielding on, knockback is a non-issue.
[ QUOTE ]
As for Invincibility not "fitting"....well, it's probably just me, but my image of a Brute was getting shot in the face but still coming at you; like some scary Tyrant thing with fists bigger than your skull. Nimbly dodging and weaving doesn't really suit that image to me, hehe.
[/ QUOTE ]
If it helps, I regard the defence in the invulnrability set as stuff bouncing off with no effect at all, and the stuff that gets through as hurting but the resistance is me ignoring it, because I'm well hard.
Hard like nails.
Or a brick outhouse.
Or a brick outhouse, built with extra nails.

Ah, ok. Thought Swift might help me get between groups faster. Gonna be hitting level 12 tonight, so Hurdle it is.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hurdle/CJ also works as a mini travel power, which is handy pre-14.
All brutes should bounce. They are the tigger of ATs. -
Personally, I'd certainly rework it to include Invincibility and drop acrobatics. Invincibility is, in my book, very much a wading in and giving stuff a good slapping type of power, indeed, really that's where it excels.
I'll also give my standard advice of swaping swift for hurdle, as bouncing around missions with hurdle and combat jump (I go for just a single jump enhance in both) is a lot faster than running. Also it is rather more fun.
