If you haven't done Apex tf and don't want to see any spoilers about how the big fight goes, leave now.
Hey Tankers what did you think of the Battle Maiden fight on Apex? My carefully crafted Invul Tank needed a good amount of buffs/heals and insp management to get through it. Invincibility seems almost useless on that encounter since you can't stay in melee range let alone gather up a bunch of mobs.
Basically I just hopped around, chunking boulders at her with some Gloom and taunts thrown in for good measure. I'd joust with Jab (for -res) and Knockout Blow occasionally. That was enough to keep her aggro focused on me. I'm curious if tanks that omitted Taunt because of their aura(s) and Gauntlet were able to keep her attention full-time. Please note I don't ask as a point of some "Tanks must take Taunt" debate, but genuinely curious how it went.
So anyway, I'm just curious to hear from Tanks (of any primary) what they found to work (and not work) for this encounter. -
Quote:That's right and I'm glad to see at least some people acknowledge the power of T3 orange insps. Absent Emp support from someone I know and trust completely, my loadout is (all T3s) 6 Greens, 4 Purples, 4 Blues and everything else an Orange. I have Resist Energies and therefore 30% Energy resists. So I chew 1 purple and 3 oranges (maxes energy resists) and say hello. When the red tower goes down I may drop down orange consumption to just 1, for the duration of the encounter. The difference between an invulnerability tank that spends their time inspecting the flooring, and a stone tank who stands there making faces at Recluse, is energy resistance. Recluse's hardest-hitting attack does a metric ton of energy damage, so if you want to survive it, pick up energy resistance.
Also, e-mail yourself some insps, just in case the team is slow taking down towers.
T3 insps are the great equalizer in this game. However many get you to 75% Defense and 90% resists put you at the same footing as someone that spent 5 billion inf, at least for 60 seconds. -
It is a bit confusing the first time. However, when you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple and can be finished within 5 minutes for sure.
1) Defeat first guy on the ramp
2) Defeat next guy on the ramp near where the Patrons are in the STF (or the fateweaver, trainer for regular Grandville).
3) Defeat mobs by hostage
4) Defeat 2 Forts in the plaza (where towers are in LRSF)
5) Get hostage, walk him back
You can zig-zag on the path back to the Longbow boat to avoid mobs. I use a Scrapper so I don't really bother to zig-zag too much, though it's best to avoid the web nades. A squishy may want to chew a purple/breakfree during the escort. -
To the original question - no way. I've got 50s I haven't played in over 3 years, at all. I won't give an exact number (because I don't know it) but there's well in excess of 50 50s I have to consider. So I'm just prioritizing a top 5 for now, then I'll get to the next 5. Maybe another round of 5 and that will be that, except for leisurely adding one at a time from there.

This too was my first thought when I ran Apex, that I simply wouldn't be able to do it with any of my MMs. Maybe when the playerbase gets solid tactics down, I can bring my MMs along for pity spots.
-
That (the above post by Claws) is a compromise that works for me.

Quote:Well, miffed at being called inaccurate, I went off to prove that I was correct, but I was not. I just went to fight Chimera as EB and AV and the Power Analyzer shows him to have 84% debuff resists for Regen, Recovery, ToHit, Rech, Def as an EB, 85% as an AV. Not sure if that 1% is some sort of rounding error or what.Actually this is innaccurate. I wouldn't swear it for all AVs, but I know that the ones I have tested do maintain their 85% debuff resistance when they scale down (sucks I know). In the mission you are discussing though, they actually aren't scaled down AVs, they are EBs to start with (It's a weakened Honoree, not the Honoree from the LGTF). In this case, Garent is almost right, they have no inherent debuff resistance...EXCEPT, EBs and Bosses have 20% resistance to to-hit debuffs (Lts. have 10%)
Hope that solved the mystery. -
I've heard other people report this too. Something does seem to be up.

I'm completely with Gypsy of Paradox that the notion that getting back 10 enhancements from a respec is "generous" is quite antiquated and not in step with how the game has progressed.
The fact that you can only hold 10 enhancements is irrelevant, there certainly have to be other alternatives available. Even allowing e-mail to be accessible during a respec would allow for another 20 enhancments to be held. I think that (30) would be a magic number to satisfy those of us that find the current respec restrictions insufficient. Certainly there are other more creative ways to go about this as well. -
I'm just wondering what the rationale is for putting Membranes in Fulcrum Shift. I understand what the recharge aspect of that HO gives you, but not the +ToHit / +Def (or -ToHit/-Def).
-
No, EBs do NOT maintain AV debuff resistance. The main attribute an EB inherits from an AV is purple triangles indicating extraordinarily high mez protection.

To the OP, what I do is use up my old freespec just before a new issue (the last 2 weeks have been a flurry of respeccing for me), this to take out the 10 most expensive IOs I won't be using in the new build.
I agree with Togo, the notion that "extracting 10 enhancers is generous" is a pre-IO way of thinking. That was probably just enough if you were respeccing with HOs, since they're easily reusable even if you change some of your power selection.
With IOs, you may not only be changing the sets you're using because of your own change of build objectives (say, s/l defense over recharge) but a game mechanism change may require you to overhaul your build almost entirely. Take the PVPers (please! [j/k]) and i13. The rules changed dramatically for them with DR and also PVP IOs have been added. For a PVP build that had to undergo a radical overhaul, no, getting 10 enhancers is not generous at all. -
"If the team had invited any other AT, this mob would have been defeated by now"
I keed, I keed. Sorta. -

Buried within a thread on AE exploits, I found this:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...26#post3350926
which has a link to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yff3jH8NECs#t=1m32s
That blew my mind, once upon a time I LOVED BNL (that time has passed, at least for their recent work).
Anyway, I'm just wondering if he was just doing an acting gig for that video or if he's a known City of player? -
I watched an episode of this a few weeks ago, since I am an avowed Marvel Zombie that has to be convinced a Marvel show is simply too terrible to watch before dropping it. Well this show convinced me right away it was droppable, despite a theme song from one of my favorite groups Nerf Herder.
Then a few days ago I saw an ad that included Thanos. Yes, it was goofy of course, but still Thanos, a character I am a completist (comics, videos, wherever I can find him) for. So I gave SHS another shot. A very skeptical shot, but another nonetheless.
While I was watching with furrowed brow, I felt a mood shift and found myself chuckling. I decided to lighten up and watch it with the same frame of mind as if I were reading an old What the ? comic and by the end of the show, I have to say I enjoyed it. I even added it to my TiVo season pass.
Is there anyone else out there willing to admit they like this show? -
Quote:You've got to be kidding. There's no evidence whatsoever punitive measures will be taken. Yes, they did something once and it was absolutely a disaster. There have been plenty of exploits since them, some of them stunningly more lucrative. The punishment? Nada.
If anyone gets banned or rerolled over this it'll be the 2nd time we've sene it...we should not be surprised at all. If anything we should be expecting it by now.
As for the OP, I don't have the same rage, but I do shake my head at how long this current specific exploit has been allowed to go on, especially since it came right on the heels of a Spiderling exploit which got removed about a week after it became "public". Pretty much the next day the new kid showed up.
Regardless of the moral superiority some are showing about the evils of exploits, or the "who me?", devil-may-care attitude about being an exploit abuser, the fact remains that this has been very public for many weeks now and clearly the devs knew about it, but decided not to patch a fix. I really, really hope we get an explanation of why this one has been allowed to go on so long once a fix is live. -
To the OP, I just wanted to cast my vote for my choice: Kin/Sonic defender. It takes you and your teammates not just to the damage cap, but beyond.
On your smallish (2 teammates) set team, perhaps this is a less compelling choice (maybe), where your individual orange numbers make up a good percent of team DPS. As team size grows though, and your -res attacks affects more teammates damage, the Kin/Sonic's effectiveness increases dramatically.
So, this is my own personal observation, from playing Kin for all 3 ATs, several times, I find the Fire/Kin Corruptor to be more satisfying for me, individually (FSd Fire Ball + RoF puts a lot of "You have defeated..." text in the combat window), but it's also my observations that teams tend to be more effective with the Kin/Sonic def, especially when you get to harder targets. -
Another vote for Chill Mastery here. Frozen Armor not only takes Defense enhancers, but resists as well, so you can slot a Steadfast unique and maybe one day, a Glad Armor unique as well. As mentioned above, Chill gives you not only Frozen Armor, but Hoarfrost is very very nice and Hibernate gives you a good 1-slot power.
I haven't made my i19 buid for my Thugs/Traps yet, I imagine it will be quite similar to my Bots/Traps, with the notable exception of Thugs getting to slot unique IOs from recharge intensive pets. -
I loved the scene in Sym-bionic Titan with "Space Age Love Song". Whoever thought that a mega-mech vs giant monster fight could be... touching?
-
Good ep. My only beef is calling Sarah a "she-male" of any sort. There is no confusing her with a she-male whatsoever. Maybe "she-devil" would have worked better.
-
Well, these are probably the main drivers for taking Dreadful Wail:
1) When I was chooing the level 47 power, I had accomplished what I was hoping for out of the build and viewed the pick as a freebie to select something I liked
2) I like to nuke occasionally. For Kins and Colds I nuke as often as I can. In this case, it would be used sporadically.
That's pretty much it. -

Quote:You didn't hear it from me...
I'm guessing that the Centiroles still give out schedule A level values of +33% resistance? Is that the cheat? -
Here's one of my characters I have a love/hate relationship with. Actually it's probably more like "love/apathy" and it's said apathy is worse than hate.
I won't get into the apathy part. There have been many threads about how "Sonic Resonance needs love" and I support that notion 100%.
On the other hand, I "love" this guy because sometimes, a Sonic is just what you need. Got a FFer? A couple of Crabs? Maybe a Widow and a Cold? Then Sonic makes a great complementary set.
Anyway, I'm not here to sell Sonic, nor to bury it, rather just to show the build I just whipped up.
I have 0 intent to solo with him. He's meant for teaming and not just any teaming. I use him for speed runs, master runs, anything where he happens to be just the right piece.
Build highlights:
Soft-capped Range Def
Hard-capped S/L Resists
Yes I'm cheating with Centrioles, I need to use the 30 or so I have for something.
Health will have Miracle and Numina uniques. Stamina 3 Perf Shifters, including proc.
