I have 2 hero merit earners I 2-box with. Because I'm not interested in only earning A-merits, basically all my other characters are rogue/vig, to open up a wider variety of play.

Bravissimo!
As ever, for these Star Wars specials, my expectations were ludicrously high. As ever Robot Chicken exceeded them.
I do have one question for anyone that saw it. The beginning with Palpatine was spoofing a movie I couldn't remember, I think it was recent. It had "Baba O'Reilly" playing in the background. What movie was that from? -
Quote:Thanks for lesson on stuff I knew. Well, at least I know the part of your post that's correct. I can't say I know the part that's incorrect, that there's a reduction for Manticore, Katie Hannon, Ice Mistral, Twilight's Son or Tesseract. Citadel, Renault and Hess get reduced by a whopping 6.5%. As for the lowbie tfs/sfs, if having stun duration lowered affects your completion time by 1 second, I'd say there's something off with the team. This is 100% false if you ever decide to run Posi, Moonfire, citadel, Hess, manticore, synapse, sister psyche, twilight's son, Katie Hannon, lazarus, Tarikoss, silver mantis, renault, tesseract or Ice Mistral's task forces.
Also false if you exemplar for oro missions or to join friends. Such as doing the newer mid-level missions that got added with i19 or any others that get added in the future or going badge hunting etc.
When you exemplar not only do you lose some set bonuses, but the % bonus your enhancements provide are also reduced. While the set bonus for a purple set is immune to being shut off, the % bonus is not immune to reduction. This reduction kicks in BEFORE ED, so overslotting helps you maintain your damage, stun, hold, accuracy, etc at while at lower level.
It's not something to deliberately build for unless you exemp down very often. However given a choice between 100% useless and 85% useless, I'll take the 85%.
Sorry, one of my pet peeves is when someone jumps in with a know-it-all "This is 100% false" and then proceeds to tell a lot of falsehoods. -
I'll put this in order of priority.
Things I think need serious reconsideration:
Because I don't have Mids where I am, I can't see for myself, but check to see if you have perma Hasten with 2 Rch IOs. If so the 3rd won't be doing you any good since there's no Hasten stacking. In fact you could say it's detrimental with more crashes.
Putting Numi and Miracle procs in Drain Psyche seems odd. If you're game for buying Panacea's, I'd put 5 there. A far more economical approach would be 5 Doctored Wounds but you're not bargain hunting. A 6th slot for generic Accuracy would be wise, or Acc/End Mod.
Put the Numi and Miracle procs in Health and there you go.
You mentioned "defenses and resistances are sacrificed" but then took the Fighting pool. If you were looking for LOTG mules, I'd look no further than Combat Jumping. The Concealment pool is also full of LOTG mules, but CJ offers some real tactical advantages.
Things I suggest:
Levitate - 6 slots of Kinetic Crash will get you 7.5% recharge and provide 3 points kb protection. Potentially freeing up the -kb Zephyr in Fly for say, Winter's Gift unique.
You use a lot of chance for heal procs. If you like those, go for it. My own assessment is that I don't care for them. I'd switch Entropics out for Decimations for the same recharge bonus, but either a) better damage or b) chance for BU, which I far prefer to the heals, especially on a Dom.
You have no +Accuracy in Terrify. If you're comfortable with the global bonuses covering that, then fine. However, by my count, you still have room for another 6.25% bonus (DWD is 5) so giving another slot to Terrify will allow you to 5 slot Glimpse of the Abyss.
If you're wondering "where do I take slots from" the easy answer is Stamina. Between Drain Psyche and Domination, Endurance is a total non-issue, not to mention your global +rec bonuses. Personally I threw a basic EndMod IO in Stamina and called it a day for my Mind/Psi.
Season to taste:
This section is more like "things I'd do differently but if you feel otherwise, fine"
A Dominator can do powerful things with Confuse. You can personally take 2 AVs out of a fight by confusing one and holding the other. I would absolutely take Confuse over World of Confusion.
I'm not a fan of Telekinesis. Perhaps I need to lrn2ply with it, but I think using it effectively takes more effort than it's worth. Ymmv.
I am a fan of Mind Probe, moreso than TK Thrust, which I'd then 5 slot with Crushing Impact or, feel free to upgrade to purple. -
Feel free to send all your AA Procs to me. I've only ever used it to get the 5th slot, since the Stun only enhancement puts you so far over ED, it's almost as much of a waste.

Having to repurchase IOs isn't even an "inf sink" but rather just an "inf redistribution". If anything, it's an inflation accelator.
It's seems commonly accepted that inflation in this game is basically the increase of the ratio (inf/stuff). By deleting IOs, you're lowering "stuff" and barely affecting "inf". So the ratio goes up, causing inflation. -
Quote:Sonic was definitely hyped up in this thread:I would love to run in this quarter, if you're saying Cold Domination is popular!
Or are you saying, in this corner you run, Sonic Renosance is really hyped up?
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=242376
Hyped up as the least played Defender primary, but still, it was mentioned a lot.
I'm with you BrandX, and scratching my head at Sonic being considered for an "Overhyped" powerset. Stalkers too, except for PVP where they're definitely hyped. -
This isn't the first time I've brought up this suggestion. I dare to dream it may be the last. Unfortunately nothing substantive has been done to make this trial work as every other trial/tf/sf does.
The problem, for anyone unfamiliar, is that the Eden Trial can only be started by a team whose leader is within the level range 39-41 (inclusive). If the leader is over level 41, the team can NOT start it. For every other trial/tf/sf, if the leader exceeds the max level, s/he is auto-exemplared to the max and the team goes on their way. For Eden, when this happens, the contact "The Woodsman" gives a dialog that the conditions aren't met to begin.
I used the phrase "nothing substantive has been done" above because, believe it or not, something has been done in the recent past. Previously, the team would disband when the proper conditions weren't met. Now, it's a message from Woodsman. To me, the extremely frustrating lesson here is - someone looked into this code and made a change, just not the right change; resources were assigned to this issue. Unfortunately, they cured a minor symptom and not the disease (not a great metaphor, I know).
So, I implore the game's development staff to fix this Trial that so many (including myself) people love. Fix it so it works like EVERY OTHER TRIAL/TF/SF. -
I do these every day. I've noticed no difference since i19. My unluckiest streak was pre i-19 where I defeated over 120 mobs between tips.
-
I'm going to narrow the definition of "overhyped" to mean, power sets I see getting called out for teams when they really can get by with something else. You know "STF forming, need Stone Tank". Seriously, I saw that just days ago in a channel.
With that, for me, it comes down to
"healer"
Stone Tank
Rad. Heck, I've even seen Rad/Rad called out. -
Quote:Does this analysis also include damage positions? Like, what is the percent breakdown between Melee, AOE, Ranged and vectorless (like some of the psi attacks)? I ask because sometimes I suspect I spend too much effort chasing down AOE def when, though it may be common (I'm sure it's in the realm of 33% of attacks) but the damage tends to be lower than the ST attacks from Melee, Range.
This, PLUS it's from a damage type that represents about 16% of incoming damage blue side (based on a study by Besserwisser). -
Quote:Well, they're right. Elec blast is lesser damage. However, E^3 does allow for an interesting Controller/Dominator-ish playstyle with 3 holds at your disposal and of course, sapping. /Electrical Manipulation is NOT underwhelming (is whelming?) and quite heavy hitting. I have one and I enjoy it from time to time. It's NOT an engine of destruction like my fire/energy or rad/fire blasters, but I wouldn't dissuade you from making one. What do you guys think of the ele/ele/ele blaster set? I am trying this one out, but I refuse to ask in the blaster forums most there claim its underwhelming and is lacking in damage, but I am thinking allot of them never played a controller or a versatile set and understand its going to lack a little in damage to do other things.
It looks like fun on paper and I hate only being able to do only one thing sounds like a great alt for me. -
Quote:Also to Stone's advantage, the Defense isn't dependent upon mob positioning. 45% Def to a stoner is 45% regardless of who is nearby. Most of the Invul defense numbers are based on having at least one mob in range of Invincibility.
Stone Tankers are more durable than Invulnerability because they can have the same soft-capped defensed, but also have more resistance to more damage types. -
Quote:This is the thread where it was discussed:Any chance you could put up a build? I'm slowly working on a Sonic/Sonic defender, but find that I have trouble keeping her alive for long.

I just wish there was some pet trainers. Some sort of pet whisperer to tell Phantasm (among many others) that since he doesn't have melee attacks, he doesn't have to make a beeline straight to the middle of the action.
-
I was thrilled that the recent inherent Fitness allowed me to rethink my Crab build so I could soft-cap Def to all positions, not just range. Using Omega as a set mule for Melee def made it happen. Win-win!
-
I've got a Sonic/ Def with soft capped Ranged Def and hard capped S/L resists. Being light in number of "must have" powers and also light in the number of slots needed for those powers allowed me to freely pick the right pool and epic powers and slot them as needed.
-
It was just a cheap Wizard of Oz joke, at the expense of an easy enough error to make to call it "Tin Man" instead of "Tin Mage".
-
Just to get on the topic of "Is Olivia Munn making wise career choices?" (I think that was the original intent, that she wasn't).
I don't even know what "aots" stands for. I've never watched G4, ever. I know that's a serious blow to my geek cred, but there it is.
After her first Daily Show appearance, she showed up on my radar. I asked "hey, who is this hot correspondent?" and went about looking for her imdb info. Now I recognize her on magazine covers, tv appearances (Chuck) or whatever.
So, I'm giving one testimonial that leaving her niche show for bigger pastures is a good move.
Heck, let's play out a worst-case scenario for her, that she bombs badly, I'm willing to bet in 2-3 years she can go back to some back-water cable channel (whether G4 or another) and get back to the same level of promincence she had a few months ago. -
I'd rather not use the word "hate" but I don't imagine I'll ever play either of my 2 Stone tanks again. I can almost guarantee I won't play my Stone Armor Brute.
I also don't foresee ever playing
Spines/Regen Scrapper
Thugs/Poison MM
Robot/Poison MM
I've transferred all 3 of those to a server I can't even remember. -
I don't know if you posted to solicit feedback or just to show your build.
If the former, I have to make another plea for Maneuvers and slotting out bubbles. The FF Defender that does this provides around 43% Def to all teammates. The gain from 35 to 43 percent is significant.
If the latter (to show your build, as I'm inferring from your response to Psylenz), then... have fun with it. -
Due to some pebkac issues, I had not been able to get Sentinel to work. Last night I tried to see if I could figure out my problem and I saw the error of my ways (run as Admin, which instructions clearly state).
So I went on a respeccing spree last night, the likes of which I didn't imagine possible. I have a bunch of characters I just wanted to basically use the same builds but add in 3 new 1-slot powers. I was able to do about 20 respecs last night using Sentinel's export tool.
On the other hand, I do curse you for causing me high grogginess today, I stayed up much later than normal doing the respecs. Still, it was worth it as I was able to update all my "active" 50s. -
I like my D3, I really do. However it's a "tier 2" character for me, meaning it's not the first one I think about for whatever's going on.
I mention that because that means I decided to give him a good, but not great IO build. That is, no purples or anything terribly expensive. Did it make a difference to go to the "good" IO build from the non IOd build? Absolutely. I went for building up a decent amount of recharge, mostly to be able to use Howling Twilight on tough targets more often.
So no, it's not overkill to build up bonuses for a D3, it just gets better.
