Quote:This all depends on like Stalemate said, how many reps are available on a server. YES, PERC is trying to get more reps. But as of right now, not many are stepping up to the plate to join us and represent their server. Hence, why Toxic and I have came forth to help out. Like Stale also mentioned we try to have at least 3 reps plus an SSR on each server. This would be IDEAL but is definitely NOT the norm amongst all servers right now.3) Change- It might be time to switch up events, it seems as if the same few events keep being repeated. I know coming up with ideas is again a hard thing, however, give the people a voice and you might find some really creative ideas (think of AE... no not the farming, the actual stories that people came up with, some are much better then the current story arcs available to the player base).
On my server we will be running 3 events this month and over the past year have developed many NEW event ideas. I totally agree with you about running new and different events. Mr & Ms. just happens to be our staple event that we cannot help but run once a year. Truthfully we leave it up to the local reps to develop events and run them on their servers. I run a ton of my own events on my own server and I do share the event ideas with the rest of the group but... at the end of the day it is up to those local reps to choose whether to use the idea or not. We simply do not have enough time to run every event across every server. This also leads into when we did the survey the results showed you all truly wanted to be individually catered and not all clumped together. Every server does have a different identity and flavor of people... as we have noticed from the Mr / Ms aftermaths.
We are working on solutions to the issues and we are going to be hopefully start recruiting new reps to join us so that by January we can be ready to run full steam and hopefully have a packed crowd on PERC. Bare with us and thanks for your suggestions and feedback. -
Quote:Has your server ever done a player auction before???Toxic--
For event money, run tip missions for hero/villain merits. Have them set on an easy level (they're not hard to ghost). So you can get a merit every 2 days, spending maybe 30 min each day doing the missions. When you get a merit, cash it in for the 5 random rolls and then sell what you get. People are typically making 50-100mill on sales doing this.
Alternatively, earn merits for something that is selling well, like maybe a LotG +global rchg or a numina +end+reg (both cost 2 merits, so 4 days to get one). And then craft and sell it on the market.
We did one on Champion and it was a HUGE success. In fact it funded our events for the entire year! It was really cool and had a great response!
Normally... what we do for the auction is get people to volunteer 4 hours of their time to play with the person who has the winning bid on them. We also can get Mod08 and Avatea to volunteer two hours of their time and they usually go for A LOT of money. I also know KJSR DJ's usually volunteer a show to let the winner choose the theme and a four song block. It's really cool! This might be a great way to raise money for PERC so Toxic, Myself, and future reps (hopefully???) do not eat out their own pockets. Lemme know what you think? -
Since you now have TWO reps looking out for you there should be absolutely no way that either Toxic or I forget to bump the event threads. Hopefully we will be fighting each other to bump stuff and remind you guys. YAY!!!
-
Grats Stoners! Can't wait to party it up in your base once more! Glad we are adding tunes from Sinny and I's shows this time! Let's party all night long! Play the funky music!!!
-
Quote:Well done chap! Well done! Epic Post!!!my personal take? Don't go anywhere near the 'representative of the server' or server 'mascot'...it'll just lead you into trouble. Let's face it, there are a ton of different people on a server, and no one character or player can reflect well that diversity.
Rather, the better way to do it is to get as many people out as we can from the server, choose those you honestly think are the better characters, and try to make sure everybody has a fun time in the process. I know i attended a few of these on some servers just to see what others came up with, (and root for player friends) and participated here because it's my 'home' server, and i have to say i was glad to see that dazz and cherry tried to keep things light and fun. I didn't agree with all the choices, but that's the nature of any judged contest: It favors the personal tastes of those deciding. The judges do their best, there won't be anything but good intent involved.
Win or lose, you're not 'bad' because you aren't chosen, you're not the best if you are. The aforementioned human selection will skew to personal taste. Your character was made for you and your tastes...some others may appreciate it, some won't. Whether others like your stuff or not, just have a good time and move on. Oh, and if you see somebody else who created something you think is well done, make sure you let them know you like their style and you think it's cool.
To me, that's about as serious a costume contest should get. -
Quote:You are not alone. We did change it up a bit this year. But we did it to keep it fun and move at a much more comfortable pace. Years past have been way too long! The questions will still exist on the finals level. As always we are listening and valuing input / feedback given. As the game evolves so do our events. So we just gotta go with the flow!I guess I'm still stuck with the old concept where you had to apply in advance, submit survey answers and produce a player pic. Where the chosen server winners were supposed to "represent" their server like mascots
Of interesting note... I do think we need to continue to focus on the "representing" part. How do we best find the two most optimal people to serve as Mr & Ms Champion? Ideas?
PS: I liked the names of Mercedes' pets! LOL! -
Quote:Agreed... 20 minutes is standard on our servers too. As far as I know this happened on time and on all servers for the Mr / Ms event, as did judging (judges were given 20 minutes to judge both groups). Thanks for the input from all of you. I think for the future the 20 minutes is a perfect amount of time and we will utilize your input to possibly devise some way to "start" the event right after that 20 minutes. We have a few ideas for how to make sure there's a cool little "kick-off" that takes place at the 20 minute mark that segways perfectly into judging. CHEERS!Dazz the person you are replying to is from Pinnacle, they are not a very big server, 20 minutes organization time on Pinnacle is probably not acceptable due to the population size. All due respect, I think they might be a little out of touch with the scale in the difference in size of the player population. I would say 20 minutes is perfect, it would give players time to get into zone if they became locked out, any less than 20 minutes given the size of the participation would probably not be fair to the contestants. Pocket D on Virtue is always bustling with RP'ers socializing, at times I am sure it could fill with just those players all by itself, on Pinnacle it's only really used for the holiday event.
The weekly costume contest hosted by The American Legion has a 20 minute setup time.
PS: Cherry is awesome! I love her
PSS: Can the boards please stop loggin me off! Thanks! -
Hey Arch... there is usually a sticky thread on each server where the rosters (just for local server reps) is listed. I do not see such in your server. I will consult Ice & MP and see what we can do about getting one posted.

Total: 26.5 Billion Spent
Money Left:
$2.9 Billion Remaining
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF P.E.R.C. -
Quote:This needs a major LIKE button! The most the PERC can take away from this situation is that a lot of players felt the event was mishandled, both in advertising and in execution, and players have learned something of a lesson regarding paying closer attention to events in which they have an interest.
We could go on and on, but I think it's time to move on. -
Please Note! Due to Halloween, Game Night will be incorporated into PERC's Fright Fest for this month! We hope to regularly resume Game Night in November! Thanks for understanding and see you soon!

Fears & Phobias Costume Contest
Croatoa @ 12:00pm EST
Hosted By Fanged Knight
CALLING ALL MONSTERS, GHOULS, & GOBLINS! It's time for another one of a kind costume contest. P.E.R.C. wants to celebrate the most frightening season in style. We want everyone to showcase their most frightful fears and phobias. Go deep inside your deepest fears and nightmares and conjure up the most terrorizing costume you can. So go beyond the arachnophobia and dig deep inside that night terror that wakes you up in a dead sweat!
Gathering Details:
Contestants are urged to gather in Croatoa by 12:00pm EST. Contestants will receive information on where to line up for judging from a P.E.R.C. representative.
Judging Details:
A panel of P.E.R.C. players will be compiled to judge this event. Judges will be voting on creativity, costume idea, costume choices, frightening features, and overall concept. All costume parts should be absolutely horrific and deemed appropriate for terrifying young children.
Prizes:
1st Place: 500 Million INF
2nd Place: 250 Million INF
3rd Place: 100 Million INF
Honorable Mentions: 50 Million INF
Rules:
-One Entry Per Global
-No late entries accepted.
-As this is a subjective contest, no member of P.E.R.C. will be permitted to compete.
-Customized Weapons are allowed. This includes shields, blades, guns, etc. Players are asked to only draw weapons however and not utilize power animations.
-Powers Usage is VERY limited: We understand that i16 has brought with it a variety of power customization opportunities however we have found that powers can effect other players unintentionally and can also diffuse attention away from other character components. We would prefer players limit their use of powers and utilize them for Aura purposes. Examples of powers allowed include but are not limited to Fire Shield, Rock Armor, Personal Force Field, and Invincibility. PLEASE do not overuse powers. So many times powers get used to the point that we cannot see the Character and Costume (this will kill your chances at winning).
-Be very careful in your power choices and avoid overusing multiple powers.
-Powers that effect other players will result in automatic disqualification from the event. Examples include but are not limited to Steamy Mist, Lightning Field, Hotfeet, and Shadowfall.
-Please contact a P.E.R.C. Representative if you have any questions about a specific power.
Forum Biography Contest

Details:
One of PERC's newest recruits, Fanged Knight, is looking for truly horrifying biography to celebrate the arrival of Halloween. In celebration of Fright Fest, Fanged Knight (Invul/SS Tank) invites all those dreadfully creative writers to step forward and make a most atrocious attempt to create a biography that not only best represents himself but his vigilante concept, passion for all things dark, and his mysterious yet hairy past. If you think you have what it takes to get creative and concoct a truly remarkable biography creation then this may just be the event for you.
Picture:
Things To Consider About Fanged Knight:
Does he always look like this?
How did he get like this?
Does he have a family?
Why does he have wings?
Why the chains?
What is his real name?
Judging Details:
-Entries will be judged by the members of PERC and will be announced towards the end of the Halloween Event.
-Judges are looking for great story content, originality, and an in-depth / dark approach to explaining who Fanged Knight really is.
Prizes:

Monster Mash
12:30pm EST
Hosted By Fanged Knight

Our plan is to run some impromptu events afterwords. We will start with a massive Monster Hunt lead by Fanged Knight. Kill Shot Prizes will be given out so make sure to stay with the pack while hunting. Following the hunt we will do some Trick or Treating, Banner Hunting, Zombie Invasions, Ghost Hunting, etc. as they happen.
Don't forget to tune in to KJSR.net during the event for your fill of terrifying tunes courtesy of DJ Dazz & DJ Sinny!
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING P.E.R.C.!!! -
Overall... the CONCEPT contest went well. The judges chose and decided. Like I said before, the 16 semi-finalists were great representations of who we are as a server. It is a bummer that we can't all get trophies (sorry this isn't junior league soccer folks) but I think we had a great show and we have two excellent candidates for finals! There will always be gripes or grapes, but I will say there is definitely no argument when you have won in the past. Keep your dignity and sportsmanship in tact and praise everyone for doing a splendid job. There's always next time. We already know and acknowledge your awesomeness, so every now and then it is ok for somebody else to win (*there's never been a rule, but it was one reason some past winners didn't compete again). You all did amazing and we should stride to ignore ignorance and promote Marevlousnessitude (Trademarked by Ashcraft). So cheers to all and Stay Marvelous!

Quote:I talked with several PROTECTORS last night. You guys are kinda like a subtle second home to me since I DJ on KJSR.net! I have got to know many of you well and had some great past experiences on that server! You are 100% correct on one huge account there. I FEEL VERY BUMMED you don't have a rep. This is absolutely an issue. Normally, when there isn't a rep The chairs and admin staff will work to make sure we follow these threads and keep you all up to date. I apologize for no "bump" thread on here. I did one on mine and I even let KJSR.net to promo it out to you guys. I totally should have let the Jello Shooters channel know as well but I am but one person. I do not mind at all helping out servers in need and making sure you guys have a voice. That is my duty no matter the server. We all are here for one another, help out each other with events across servers, etc. I have met with a few others and will make sure in the future to make sure you guys get focus too. Apologies. Thanks for the update, Dazz, even though, judging by the reports I heard - I could not make the event either - I was not aware there was any male contestants at all...
Too bad it had to be done by the Senior Rep from Champion, which kinda confirms there is no more PERC reps for Protector.
And no, I'm not volunteering. Been there, done that, didn't work last time.
PS: If any of you know of anybody who would like to help us represent you guys send me a PM! I would love to get you guys a rep so you are best represented. I love representing mine! -
Jade! Your post is very well balanced and very constructive! This is the kind of feedback I LOVE getting! Because you worked diligently and balanced on it I would love to respond and help clarify and acknowledge some things!
Quote:THANK YOU! We actually initially had times posted in ALL times zones and had the schedule not as specific. I am glad you liked the way it turned out! Scheduling is definitely important! Some things I liked this year about the contest:
1) They posted the times CLEARLY this time... as far as when the costume contest would be held and what time the Finals on the test server would be. Last year I won on my server, and wasn't told clearly what time the final would be, so I missed the test server finals. (To make a point, the rep on my home server said the time on another post that was to another person...so naturally I didn't read the post.... and then at the end of the paragraph he mentioned the correct time.) At least this year they are very clear.
Quote:2) They stated the rules clearly.
Quote:3) The prizes were much better. Good job obtaining those goodies guys. Nice job. Who broke out the knee pads and asked for the good stuff? :P
Quote:Some things I disliked this year about the contest (on Virtue):
1) On my home server, things were very clearly told. However, when I was on the virtue server.... it appeared that the reps weren't very clear with everyone.
Quote:2) The reps abruptly didn't announce to anyone that WHO exactly was chosen as the winners. So some people were still milling about the pocket D area wondering what was going on. Because most of us thought it was going to be said to us so we could check out the costumes of the 8 server finalists.
I know some are arguing an accidental fire and the one targeted was not the one who fired. In fact I remember that two of our judges got hit (tanks mind you) and almost died. This is our first time doing the arena and though the rules dictate the DQ we laughed it off and I actually think everyone found it funny. I know for a fact that every semi-finalist had ample time to show off their concepts and if there was an intrusion it did NOT count against them. Obviously the new addition needs to be practiced and observed and then next year we can continue adapting it for optimal execution!
Quote:3) I have never seen so much complaining before. Now... since your sever RPs a lot... I wasn't sure if that was in RP mode... or just pure complaining from the players. But come on guys... the contest isn't rigged. YOU may disagree with the judges choices (oh heck I disagreed with some of the choices on the final 8 on my home server and Virtue server) but it's THEIR choice. They are the judges.
Quote:4) I would have liked for the contest to have actually had less of a gathering time allowance.
a.) I can understand the need to have more contestants on lower population servers so waiting a bit is okay. However, not on a busy server like Virtue.
b.) I understand that some of the judges didn't show on time. So some judges had to be pulled from elsewhere. Perhaps next year PERC can make a rule... if a judge doesn't show up, the judges that are there will be doing all the judging instead? This way you guys don't make all the players wait. A few minutes, like 10 minutes or so is acceptable.. but 20 is a bit much. It's kind of boring having to wait that much longer. -
VERY EXCITED! Glad your ideas made it from dream to reality!!!
-
Hello Marvelous Protectors!
I am very bummed I could not make the event! But I wanted to take a moment to post the winners since they seem to have gone unmentioned!
Congrats to Steampunk Charlie & Vampir RaDuli for being chosen as Mr & Ms. Protector. Thanks for representing and good luck in the finals!
I want to personally thank everyone who showed up to strut their stuff! Though I missed it, it sounds like it was a eventful time! I do want to stress however how thankful I am to those who made some stride to talk with me about future events and suggestions. There are many notes being made and many players' voices being heard right now. I am paying extra close consideration into how we can continue to make Mr & Ms. the prime event it has always been for PERC. Every year we get a plethora of feedback and it does not go unheard. This year alone we added almost double the rules, additions, and supplements this year after hearing feedback from last years' event. Several servers have also chimed in about biographies being included (which have never been a part of Mr & Ms, till finals this time). Our goal is to note all the discussions and suggestions made and continue to evolve, adapt, and strengthen the event to be tailor made to fit everyone who puts so much effort into going BEYOND!
As always, feel free to keep me in the loop and offer suggestions. We all are more then willing to listen and we appreciate all of those who turned out to support PERC. Stay Marvelous! -
Thanks to everyone who showed up to strut your stuff! It was such an amazing turnout by you all and the decisions were not easy! I want to stress how thankful I am to those who stuck around afterwords to talk with me about future events and suggestions. I appreciate 7ucy and ShadieKnight for being very understanding and helping me take notes for the future. It was really neat to see how well excepted the semi-finals idea was and how that can maybe open up avenues to allowing everyone the ability to better show off your "concept." MR & MS. has always been a concept contest and will remain that why. We added almost double the rules, additions, and supplements this year after hearing feedback from last years. It has been echoed by many to add biographies into the mix (it has never been considered till this year when it will be in the finals). I did talk with those who stayed about the biography issue and they agreed they understood the "time" issue in relation to being able to read all the biographies. We will definitely note the discussions and suggestions made and as we continue to evolve, adapt, and strengthen the event to be tailor made to fit everyone who puts so much effort into going beyond!
Congrats to all the semi-finalists who made it! You all were a great group! Special congrats to Mr. Infinity & Desert Owl for winning and representing Virtue. Do them proud!
As always, feel free to keep me in the loop and offer suggestions. We all are more then willing to listen and we appreciate all of those who turned out to support PERC. Stay Marvelous! -
Thank you so much for posting! Sorry I didn't sooner. It was a great turnout and you guys rocked the server! We had some amazing semi-finalists too! I cannot remember them off the top of my head but I will get with our Secretary and get those posted too! Maybe even some screenies! Thanks all for supporting PERC and our events! We love you!
