I would have to suggest that it is coincidence backed up with positive reinforcement.

Back in the day I didn't often do T/SF's and never repeated one on the same alt so, if your theory is correct, I should usually have recieved a decent drop from completion. In the time before merit rewards were handed out only twice did I ever recieve anything valuable (and by that I mean worth more than 500k or so).

Since the introduction of merits I have recieved a number of very good recipes, so, overall, I am very happy.

I originally thought that it would be silly to roll random rewards with merits when you could guarantee what you get however, lots of people told me I was being silly and I now happily go through all my merits getting random rolls.

I don't tend to sell any of the hugely sought after recipes as I can usually find a place to use them. Perhaps this is what others are doing also.

I got my widow up to 24 when they were first released by teaming with loads of other VEATS (and man they are awesome wen teaming with each other). However, I somehow lost interest when it came time to respec! Because I could choose all these new powers that I had no idea about it somehow felt like I didn't know the character any more and so lost the connection I like to have when playing.

Whilst I cannot disagree that anything that helps protect children is a good thing I cannot agree that forcing forum mods to jump through this particular hoop will do much if anything to assist this.

A CRB check is almost useless as it can only tell you that a person has no criminal convictions at one specific moment of time. I have two CRB certificates but, to all intents and purposes they are useless now as it can only confirm that I hadn't been caught at the time of the check (not that I have ever done anything worthy of police attention; my life is not that exciting).

As far as gaming forums go; all this will do is make them that little bit more expensive. As has been pointed out official forums are becoming less common and this could potentially be another reason for a company not to provide one. Further, it could also deter unofficial forums' moderators as they are volunteers and so would need to pay for the CRB themselves. It has already been shown that the CRB requirement has led to a decrease in the number of parents volunteering for school trips/after school clubs etc. and I could see this having a similar effect on unofficial forums if it is policed.

As I say; protecting children - good thing, CRB; of limited use.

Sorry, I feel I have to jump in here. I am in a similar position to TheMESS, I rolled a DB/WP brute and have so far gotten it only to level 36.
I really enjoy this character. But, according to you, because it has been so long since it was created I obviously haven't spent a long time on it. And because TheMESS only got theirs to 26 they have spent even less time on it! That is quite an assumption.

You do realise that not everyone just wants to steamroller their way to 50? I have spent a lot of time on my brute collecting badges, unlocking contacts, earning inf, earning prestige and doing innumerable taskforces. She could quite easily be sitting at 50 now, but I chose a different route.

Further; you told TheMESS to simply reroll because, at 25, it isn't much of a loss. Does the level make any difference? What about 36? 46? 50?

Infamy, recipes and sets can be transferred, yes. But can time spent developing and even levelling the character? Can the concept? Can the time-dependant badges?

You seem to be saying that because one particular pair of powersets works better than other combinations (Whether this is true or not I shall not comment because I wouldn't know) then both powersets should be nerfed. Do you not realise that this would not make this specific power combination more average in 'power' as it would also lower the 'power' of all combinations using one of those powers. SS/WP would still outperform DB/WP and SS/Elec (making the assumption that it currently does of course).

In short, the action you propose would not achieve the desired effect as the combination would still retain its relative effectiveness with all other related combinations.

In a further aside, your argument of rerolling, if taken to extremes, would end up with there being only one brute combination (why bother having anything else if only one works).

Yet a further aside; the last WP discussion I recall reading on these boards was a complaint that it was a 'bit weak'. Admittedly that was probably before the set was actually released, but I still find it amusing. As for it having no weakness; is the weakness not that it has no self heal? Yes, it has regen, but no heal.

I had a great weekend; far too many task forces, I think 7 in total on various characters. In-between that I gained lots of inf, prestige and even some xp. Very happy.

My take on it is this: What's in development and what's coming up is more or less irrelevant. The meat and tatties of the game won't change no matter what you bolt on to it, and frankly, if you're bored of that, whatever shinies come out later aren't really going to change your opinion of it in the long term.

I like and enjoy the game as it is now (though I don't deny there are bits of it that royally get on my pecs), regardless of what the devs have in store for us. Anything they add to it later is just icing on an already fruity and sumptuous cake.

I got that error message before I had purchased the mac edition. I was attempting to run it using a shortcut key on my keyboard and found that locating the .exe in my city of heroes folder worked.

What I hadn't appreciated about the Mission Teleport power was that it was a cross-zone teleport. I just teleported from the steps of the city hall in Atlas Park to the depths of the Portal Corp building.

For some reason I thought it was only going to have a zone-wide range!

As a controller you don't even need to hit the purples before resting; just hold them. When they are released from the hold you are in full rest mode.

On my dominator I actually used a shivan in melee range. Worked a treat.

When the missions introducing the PvP zones were added the contact was inside the zones. This forced everyone to go into a PvP zone. The majority of the players disliked having to do this and complained which is why those contacts are now outside the zones.

Forcing people to go to these areas where PvP was not liked so I don't believe that forcing people to witness PvP and even get (possibly) hasstled into fighting someone would be more popular.

Having something to do in PvP rather than just hit people, however might persuade me to give it a go (and I don't mean PvE content). But I would still want to have to go someplace specific to do that. Make it easy to get there/participate, but rub it in my face? No thanks.

My first encounter with another person in CoH was with a very friendly person willing to help me get to grips with the game.

My first encounter with another person in WoW was a high level character asking me if I wanted to duel then abusing me for not putting on my PvP flag.

This is pretty much my experience of the difference between WPvP and separate PvP and is why I dislike WPvP. Perhaps I was just hideously unlucky to get a bad introduction to it, but it has put me off the idea.
