And should one always believe the forum avatar?

No - hairy men in kilts shouldn't eat hairy food - it just makes them hairier.
[/ QUOTE ]
And what makes you think I am a hairy man? Or are you perhaps displaying a stereotypical view of scots?
There is a good scottish proverb actualy;
A hairy man's a geary man, but a hairy wife's a... well, I am sure we all know the ending well enough. -
[ QUOTE ]
Man... no matter how i turn and spin the moral compass it still reads "Naughty"... i think it's borked!
[/ QUOTE ]
That's cos you are reading it wrong, look.... oh, I see what you mean. Surely you can't be all THAT naughty.
...
oh, I see...
-
[ QUOTE ]
(And who's morals would it be based on anyway?)
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, don't start that one again, please! -
[ QUOTE ]
If you that upset about it why don't you build you own room in a SG, then no one apart from that SG will bother you
[/ QUOTE ]
In that situation no one new to RP would be able to join in. Far better that people either join in in the spirit of the thing or leave them to play the game in the way they want... or is that asking too much?
For the record, I do not RP. -
Dear sir,
I would like to make a complaint. To that end I would like you to make something about this game that I can complain about. Too often I find myself perfectly happy whilst playing the game. The leveling speed is not onerous, the UI is fully customisable (what is the problem with having the map only available on a separate screen, I ask you?) and as for the people? I have never met a more friendly, welcoming bunch of people willing to lend a hand at the drop of a hat! Where are all the rude, insensitive selfish players? I shall not be happy until I have taken offence. And a gate and a small potting shed.
Yours sincerely,
Brigadeer General R. C. Mann, B.A. M.A. Meh -
My favourite times spent on PUG's were the times when I could indulge in a little IC chat. A memorable occassion was when, during a break in the action, an empath decided to see how many times he could put clear mind on my scrapper. The Slash Bunny, aided by his numerous clear minds, started to remember his previous life as a magician and realised how the magic trick went wrong and turned him into a bunny! Unfortunately they wore off before he could tell anyone how to fix his mistake.
PUG's can be GREAT fun, I find. I have rarely teamed with anyone so annoying that they have spoiled my fun and I have made numerous friends from participating. -

you would make no money that way... only the money from the loosing betters would come to you, so the total net gain would be 0 under TG's set up, if no one bet on the loss there woudl be no money to win... there is no bookie offering odds.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, they split half betting on me, half on my opponent
[/ QUOTE ]
net gain, if everyone was betting the same amount... zero
The point is there are no odds, no extra inf is coming from anywhere; the only inf involved is the inf the players are putting in themselves.
I bet 1 inf on each of two combatants no matter who wins I come out with 2 inf. The same 2 inf that I spent on the bets.
Does that help make it any clearer? -
Can't say I was particularly impressed with the article. Felt like the... em... journalist?... spent half an hour in game then came up with a couple of hundred words about it. While press coverage (if you can call a free online magazine press) is always welcome I can't say there is anything in there that would make me interested in the game had I not already been playing it. Shame really.
Edit: Oh and it is pages 28-29. I got worried when I opened it to page 27 to see a summation box with the verdict 4/13 (a review for Requiem: Bloodymare) -

I could set up a match, bet a million Inf, invite a level 1 to fight, and share the winnings - it'd be over in a few secoinds, then we'd just do it again and again - they'd have to cap the amount you could bet, but it'd probably have to be so low to avoid bet exploiting that it'd be too low to interest anyone.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are still failing to read what i said and just talking nonsense.
So once again just for special you:
a) The two players fighting cannot bet and dont receive any kind of influence from the bets.
b)The only influence circulated from beting is only from players.
c)Arena has weight classes.Middlewight,Heavyweight etc.Only classed and ranked matches can have beting which was the original design. So you cant have level 1 vs level 50 like you insist uppon for some weird reason.
10 players bet on player A and B fighting the players that bet on winner share the total amount that placed as bet.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem I would see with that is, unless it becomes a universally popular passtime (which I am not convinved that it would be) then it would take 4 people in the correct circumstances to make one bet work.
If I were to bet 1 million inf on 'Teh Ub3rmeist3r' when he was fighting 'the little newb' then it would need someone willing to take that bet for any result to happen. If everyone believes that Teh Ub3rmeist3r will win then no bets will be taken up and it will be pointless (apart from watching a PvP match which I personally don't find that interesting)
For a betting system to work, in my opinion, it needs an impartial tote willing to cover all bets. However a system like that is liable to match fixing.
Perhaps I am not quite following the idea, however. -

We can't get him to tell us under his own steam, and we know we can't pull him to tell us... but if we could somehow push him up to 88 miles per hour...

I dont think he has a flux capacitor.

Just give me 5 minutes with a pair of pliers and 3 feet of rubber tubing!

And once you are done are you going to help us get more hints out of GR? -

buying prices were unusually high: 300.000 inf for a level 20 common IO is in my opinion ridiculous, and it wasn't a accuracy or so
[/ QUOTE ]
but a level 20 IO recipe only costs c.10000 at the workstations... 16000 for an accuracy... surely buying at that price is just lazy! -
I prefer the axe personally as, in later levels, I am less likely to use my permanant temporary powers regularly and find the axe more use situationally than the sands of mu.
-
What about a lassoo that makes people tell the truth?
Would make hunting missons easier.
'where is your secret base?'
'not telling'
*Uses lassoo*
'Where is your secret base?'
'it is in that warehouse behind you...damn'
Only have to interrogate one rather than 50
It would be such a useful power that I wonder why no comic book hero ever had such a brilliant power.... -

hmm in freakish coincidence i arrive home today to find a small package from my bank (RBS) its a small calculator looking thing which is going to make making payments more secure by adding a extra layer of security to transactions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't get too excited, we've had ours for about a year - we've never been asked to use it, despite doing most of our banking online.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have had one for ages also. Think I have used it once. Was terribly exciting [/sarcasm] -
This is, indeed, rather disturbing. I do not particularly want to pay for tis game with my credit card yet if maestro is removed as an opton I am forced to!
Can't say I can understand the reasonings behind this decision as, as far as I can see, it makes the game harder to pay for! -
What about the Hydra?
Or have I missed something? -

You all should just kiss and make up...
then take some pictures of it.

But if they have already kissed we would just get pics of them in make up.... ohh, I see -

Interestingly after that she kept offering me a wider choice of desserts too at meal times.... funny that eh.

It is amazing what a nice smile will do.
Hope your recovery completes itself with alacrity. -

1) You read novels as a form of entertainment, you play games as a form of entertainment.
2) You pay money for novels, you pay money for games.
If "story" is sufficient motive to read a book, or watch a movie, why should it be insuffient motive to play a game?
You can also buy books of puzzles. You do them for the challenge, there is no loot. If challenge is motive enough to buy a puzzle book, why should it be insuffient motive to play a game?
[/ QUOTE ]
Think of the game Oblivion. In that there are many books which can be read but advance your character not one bit... I know some people read all the books they find all the way through but I found myself skipping them after reading a few.
I would also say that it is not a true comparison. The reward for reading a book is the book itself. Within the context of a game then the story is not the sole reward. After all in a book you don't have to turn over a page several hundred times to get to the next bit of the story (which is arguable an equivalent of killing lots of mobs for no reason other than to reach the next part of the story) -
I have been here for what seems like forever. There is so much that I haven't done; the list is too long! TF's, trials, epic ATs goodness even story arcs!
I love the fact that I am still enjoying this game and continue to find new stuff I haven't seen before. Only the other day I found a carnie mission that I certainly couldn't remember seeing before! -

For a limited time, all accounts that log into the Live Servers will receive 2 free Character Slots. This is for a *Limited* time only.
[/ QUOTE ]
Reading that I would be tempted to interpret it as 'you will get two free character slots but these two character slots shall exist for a limited time only'
Like many English phrases this can be read in so many ways when considered closely that it is necessary to talk like Janet and John to make the intended meaning clear, unfortunately.
