I will do that as soon as I can. Once I logged on, I wanted to play. After about several hours, one failed Lambda run, one failed BAF run and one successful "The Sky is Falling" TF, the client crashed. I am not waiting for the black screen to go away again on this new relaunch.

I'm using an nvidia-based Macbook Pro and I *do* see a black screen at first. It lasts maybe 2-3 minutes, but the login screen *does* appear eventually.
I was gone about 2 hours. So somewhere in that 2 hours the black screen went away. I have not logged off since I got on, but I will see a bit later if I can restart the game and how long it takes to sit in the black screen.
But I am playing right now, so it will go away....maybe in 2 hours -
There was a small patch update today on CoH, but it did not resolve the Black Screen for me. Must be a fix for other issues.

I've tried the Safe Mode tactic. No good. Normal or Safe Mode, after you hit "I Agree" on the Launcher, the screen goes black instead of going to the splash screen and never gets you to the Log-in screen. Once you hit "I Agree" it goes Black.

Yep, I'm on a new iMac with the ATI Rad HD 5670 as well. OS and drivers are as up to date as they can be, I even trshed the old client and downloaded a new one. Still get the black screen.

Theme/Concept: Entropy Legion is a silver-age style group of villains bent on the usual "conquer the world" or "the greatest heist" concept. We are a lot like the Legion of Doom, in where one member will come up with a Plot (created in AE) and the rest of the Legion will then help that Plot in order to have the Legion be victorious.
Of course, being the people that villains usually are, we mess up and are a bit screwed up. We are enjoying the RP of what it would be like if severely quirky and dysfunctional people were stuck in a room together.
Activity: The Legion more EST biased, but RP and member interaction is at any time of day, any day of the week. We have regular scheduled events, with Wed being our main RP night and Monday being more of Infamy grind style missions, but in RP.
Requirements for Membership: out-of-game communication on guild forums (http://entropylegion.guildportal.com).
Leadership: Radium Blight is the current sitting leader (Arch-Villain), with Dark Lies Made Real and Miss Ultimate being the current "officers" of the Legion

Before you go off on some half-cocked tizzy, just remember they bothered creating the Mac client at all. As much as we love our platform, it is a miniscule market share. They didn't need to bother with the Mac, just like most major games.
So while we have issues and need to push to get them fixed, you should also be thankful we can even get to play the game at all on our Macs. -
Yeah, i did that. Ran 3.0 before i installed Mids. But I get blank buttons. Anything else you can think of?

You have to create a winxp "bottle" and add the Runtime Component called .NET 3.0. After that, point it at the Mids installer and it works.
I had tried to run Mids in CrossOver Games prior to release #10. You could view it and such, but it was very unstable. Any edits caused it to freak out. Nice to see that v10 is "stable" outside of my issue of not having text in the buttons. -

I would like to remind everyone that Heroside CoP are for Heroes and Vigilantes only and Villainside CoP are for Villains and Rogues
My VG, the Entropy Legion, has the capacity to "host" a CoP, but I have personally never led one, so I don't know how I would do. If there is someone that wishes to lead, we would be more than happy to provide the door into the Shadow Shard. -

Harder than it seems. You have to, to a certain extent, constantly check in with people, take the lead, recruit, build a base (at least a minimal one), find a way to motivate activity, and so on. It seems to me that once a SG/VG is rolling, with several *core members*, it's in a good position to last. But until then, it's a lot of diligence devoted solely to the SG/VG itself. One of the biggest problems you'll find is finding the core peeps... because of alting, your players will be on their more established characters.
On another topic, is anyone reading this part of an active, story-driven Villain Group? With all the SG talk, I wonder how much Heavy RP is done on the redside. I have a character that I absolutely adore, but if I were to believe that the groups posted on (The VG Directory) the forums here were the only groups, then it would mean that VGs all fall into two categories: (1) Somewhat over-the-top RULE-THE-WORLD!@~ types (Legion of Doom clones), or (2) Merc thugs for hire. These two categories don't quite fit with her.

Going through the posts before, there are a lot of good points, a lot of flying off the cuff points, and a lot of cheese whiz. We are going to ignore the cheese whiz right now, because I don't know how you type with all that cheese on the keys....but I digress.
First, let me answer the post of Gorblimey. The Entropy Legion is an active RP VG. We hold regular events weekly, Mondays and alternating Wed. We have a full calendar on our Guild Portal site (http://entropylegion.guildportal.com) as well as a forum section. We welcome ANYONE to post on our forum about villainous ideas or material. Not all of the forum is visible for non-members, but if you request you can be an Associate of the Legion and that will open things up. Even villains need friends.
In one way we do things "classically" of villains of the past. We do have a few unique points that separates Entropy Legion from others too. First, the classical format. I think of us more like a Silver Age villain group. While we do have some gritty grim villains, I would say the stylings of most of the villains are of that Silver Age genre ((semi-flashy costumes; the dialogue style; the plot ideas)). In some ways we function like the Legion of Doom: one member comes up with a Plot (usually a story they created in AE) and the rest of the villains help (or sabotage or belittle) that villain achieve the goal, that will be beneficial to everyone.
That is where we stop being like other villain groups. The main difference in Entropy Legion is we have figured out a way to allow more comedic elements into our story line when we feel we need or want it. The element that allows this our NPC construct The Union of Dire Ambition. The Union is the Virtue Universe version of the The Guild of Calamitous Intent from the Adult Swim program, The Venture Bros. The Entropy Legion is a group under the protection and service of the Union, so they have to perform many tasks for them. Some of them are comedic, while there are some very serious story lines. One of the serious Union story lines is that the Union is trying to prevent an all out war between Arachnos and SNAKE, a self-created Cobra clone, because such a war will disrupt the Union's plans.
The big problem that I have found was that, as well of a job that Devs did, the red-side is very one tone. That one tone is very dark and gritty. That is great, but it can wear on you. People can only take that for so long. So I created the Union of Dire Ambition to allow more of a spectrum to lighten that dark and gritty that was constantly present in the red-side stories. So the Legion has a lot of conversations and RP that is similar to things you see in Ventrue Bros: people bickering, people misunderstanding each other, people not really having a clue about things. It has been surprisingly delightful. It has added more depth to characters and their role-play.
I'll take my character, Radium Blight. He started out very simple: a man transformed into a radioactive monster who is taking his anger out on the world. Classic villain archetype. With the RP going, he has transformed into a slightly paranoid, middle-manager style person who gets frustrated with the other villains around him. And the other villains follow suit with their own quirks. Everyone has developed nuances and quirks not as a forced thing, but as a natural evolution of playing with being a dysfunctional type of person that decides to put on spandex in response to their world not being exactly as they wish it was.
Anyways, that is a sample of some of the things going on in the Entropy Legion. If you have interest, check us out on our Guild Portal site, or give a shout. There is always room for people to join in on Monday and Wed nights. Check our calender of when we are "officially" on. But most of us are online at any given point and we RP when we are on.
But I will admit this: The Legion always seems to take a backseat to player's Blue Side play. That is just the nature of Red-side. The Legion is looking to change that for some player, and in many ways, it has. My Radium Blight is by far my most played character.

I have the same issues. My base item icons got corrupted a long time ago, but the Base Edit crashes didn't start happening until recently when I upgraded Macs. I was on a 2006 iMac and i moved up to the brand new 27" iMacs. A bit disappointed because i have way more crashes then i did on my older model.
I am not on an EU server, so it seems to be a Mac issue in general. So i'm feeling your pain here. -

My main hero, Diamondskin, is a homage to The Tick. He is not fully grounded in reality and says a lot of odd things. He has a tendency to destroy a lot of things around him, mostly because he does not realize his strength or the relative weakness of things around him. He also can't grasp the concept of Hero ID vs Civilian ID. As far as he knows, they are two separate people.
But he is a true hero. He is always concerned for the well being of others and constantly puts himself between danger and anyone else around him. He would not hesitate to die to protect others.

My other heroes and villains have inspirations from other Marvel/DC characters, but no other homages like Diamondskin is. -
I have enough characters in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles, so I'm keeping my guys in Praetoria. The 2 characters I've made are alternate dimension versions of my main hero and villain characters. Diamondhide is part of the Resistance, who is the version of my hero Diamondskin. Isotopic Virtue is the Loyalist version of my villain Radium Blight.
