Teleporters not useful? Until the tram fix in I8 hits live, those damn things are worth their weight in gold.
[/ QUOTE ]
Amen, we love em.
Problems with Telepads:
1. Too big. WAY too big.
2. Can't attach Beacons directly to the Telepad. This means leaving walls up so you can put beacons near Telepads to allow players to quickly see where they want to go.
3. Max of two beacons per telepad, and Telepads are huge, and only two will fit in a room, etcetera...
Still, I wouldn't have to do without them.
Except I will have to when CoP goes live again, since we can't afford a base pad that will hold enough Transport chambers for all the Telepads, a Raid Teleporter, and a Vault.
Prestige and the rent that steals it are rip-offs designed to force people to keep playiing.

I'd like to see the Telepads fitted with mounting brackets for the Beacons they serve, or at least be able to mount the Beacons on the walls behind the Telepads.
It's really a pain trying to move those huge telepads around and fit the beacons somewhere nearby so people can easily tell which one is which.
Also, why is the Arcane Raid Teleporter smaller than the Tech version? The Arcane one fits in a standard 2x2 Transportation roo, but the Tech one requires at least a 2x3. This just seems like sloppy design to me. Tuck in those Item Dimensions,, please, Devs.
And finally... either reduce the Prestige prices for everything or start increasing the Prestige awards, please. If we had actual bathrooms in these bases, odds are we couldn't afford toilet paper...

Supergroup Name Plaque
Originally suggested by: Don't know; might have been me but seems reasonable others have thought of it before or since
Category: Decoration
Customizable? Yes
Type: Purchased
Description: A large bas relief or engraved name plaque in various textures - marble, bronze, polished steel, semi-transparent glass - that would fit on a wall in the entry and/or conference rooms.
Limitations: It's just a wall decoration; you could have one in every room if you wanted to, but it's really just a vanity item.

Soooo, yeah. The CoP. There is a bug related to it that popped up after the trial had been run on test. Since the bug is not fixed and we will need to test the CoP again on test as a result, the CoP did not ship with I7 today.

Hello?
We're still waiting to hear what it was that was wrong with the "Cathedral of Pain" trial... details, please?
We don;t want to know code, just broad strokes.

Lower Gravity Everyone has a temporary power that allows you to jump much higher than on the earth.
[/ QUOTE ]
YES! But, all movement is slowed and you have a tendency to "coast". (Think Frostfire or Oilslicks)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry, but the idea that "movement is slowed" in micro gravity is a Hollywood fallacy. Films of astronauts during the moon landings which showed them moving "slowly" actually showed no such thing; they were wearing exrtremely cumbersome suits with very limited mobility. Watch as they "hop" from task to task on the Moon's surface and you will see no loss of speed, only downward momentum, since nothing has happened to their mass, only their weight.
Astronuats and cosmonauts appearing to move "slowly" in the micro gravity aboard space stations and inside capsules is another misconception; fish-eye lenses were used for years in filming aboard space stations to increase the illusion of the cramped quarters being larger than they actually were. And astronauts generally make slower, calculated movements in micro-gravity because they are trained to do so, for safety reasons.
Seven or eight whacks of an elbow or skull into a hatch rim and you'll learn to start moving slower, too!
We've had enough of Travel Power Suppression in the earthly game, don't spoil this otherwise wonderful vision by imposing that nonsense on the Moon, too.
Here's an alternative: Leave Travel Powers alone; make the players learn to use them safely in the Moon's one-sixth-Earth-gravity environment.
If Super Jump or Flight takes you out of the Life Support Zone, all your toggles drop and you start taking damage as you begin falling back toward a breathable atmosphere... but you do it one-sixth as fast as you would on Earth.
Super Speed? This one is suicidal! There used to be a Science Class mnemonic that a Swift rifle bullet fired on the Moon would achieve lunar orbital velocity:
"Fire a bullet in the absence of an atmosphere at just the right speed and it can fall at the same rate that the surface of the spherical earth falls away. This bullet is then in orbit. A Swift rifle can fire a bullet with a high enough velocity to orbit the moon and hit the shooter in the back of the head."
Source: http://www.exo.net/~pauld/workshops/orbits.html
Whether you agree or disagree, and if you want to ignore the "speed cap" on heroes with Super Speed (I know I do), running to fast and too far at Super Speed could send such an irresponsible hero directly to the orbital Hospital.
Otherwise, this is a terrific job of Zone design; well done!!!

From the people who have yet to bring us the "Skills" set!
Hey, how about this: I found a bug in my bank account, it showed up after I opened my account. Because of this bug, I won't be "rolling out" my payment to NC Soft as planned. It will be implimented soon, but I can't give you an exact date at this time.
How the hell does THAT sound!
[/ QUOTE ]
Now THAT sounds perfectly fair!!!
How about this: Every time I send a payment, my credit card company will suppress Cryptic's access to the funds for four months, but eventually, they will get used to it and feel like they are getting paid for running a superhero MMO...
Dasher -
How about a REALLY big WHITE ball, say about 12 feet in diameter (or about four meters), like the "Rover" drones from the old TV series "The Prisoner"?
The difference being, you don't go after it, it goes after YOU...
You can run away form it or even drive it off, but you can't really destroy it, and if it scores a "Critical Hit", you're engulfed and wake up in a Council prison cell.
Now THAT would add a little something to the game...
I guess depending on how your mind works, just exactly WHAT it would add would vary with the inidividual experiencing it.
Dasher -
Wow.
I just happened to come across this, and I wanted to say what a cool gesture it was to put this together.
Can I ask if it would have been easier to use a cross-reference labelling system, like A1 (Black), P10 (Dried Pink Roses)?
Is it just a style choice, or the sequential numbers used for coding purposes, or (I think I just had an "aha!" flash) to help in shading?
Anyway, we have an alt SG where everyone has identical uniforms, and this will be a BIG help to any future members.
Well done!

Pulling probably is getting lost and abandoned, since the Devs have made the game so much like a collectible card game, the "Build is All" mentality has reduced the need to pull in all but the most extreme conditions.
With ED and Travel Power Suppression, the min/max munchkin uber-build-ers are coming to ever more dominate the game; with builds that minimize risk and maximize reward, why bother to learn a subtle tactic like pulling? Just field whatever alt is deisgned for that mob type.
Back before I4, it was so cool being able to pull with Super Speed...
It has an inherent Stealth, and I could whip my scrapper past a guy on the edge of a mob with a light "tap" attack and zoom back to my team... or to a safe corner if I was solo'ing.
It was part of what made him so much fun to play, part of what made him a Super Hero, but most important of all, part of what made him a character...
Yet another limb cut off by the Galactically Stupid Travel Power Suppression Nerf.

FIRST THING: I want the devs to take their time with I7, seriously. Take your time. No rush, get it right, yadda, yadda.
SECOND THING: That said the inmates are getting restless.
SO,
THIRD THING: Like the subject line says, how about a quick Q&A with Positron (like his recent badge thread) where we're allowed to throw out questions and Positron answers as few or as many as he wants. Just friendly, perhaps we sic Clintonian on anyone who trolls (since Happy Fun Taser is out of that business).

Because...
A. The Devs have proven that they are going to do whatever they want no matter how the players feel about it, so why bother?

...You "nearly" die? And you are complaining? The standard for Heroic (as statyed by a developer at one point) was designed to be roughly one death per mission. Anything better than that means you are ahead of the curve.
[/ QUOTE ]
If that's the standard the dev's are shooting for then I'm really going to hate this game when we get there!
Please post a reference. I have a hard time to believe that this is their intended level of play.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hear, hear.
How ludicrous is that? Establishing a standard "defeat ratio"?!?!
Good lord, if that isn't an indictment of the Dev's lack of imagination, I don't know what is. That's the crappy, unimaginative, dull-witted D&D Dungeon Master School of Game Design.
"Well, let's see, they are all Level 5, so I will stock the Fifth Level with Level Five monsters! Hurray, I am a planning genius!"
Ugh. All I can say is "ugh"...

WOW!! OMG!!! YOUARETEHBEST!!!
Not really. ED still sucks. Supression still sucks. PvP is still awful compared to the other PvP choices out there(5 million customers=doing something right). The game is awful compared to I2-I3. Almost all the people I enjoyed playing the game with have left for greener pastures, and all you can do is give out more nerfs? Yes, you did undo this nerf, but not entirely. You still are going to introduce it again, just in a different way. There is no reason to play a superhero game where you feel more like a minion than a hero.

So...the contaminated are overunning that part of the city in the present? And you want to use a time-travelling device to send a hero to the past, yet in the past, the enemies were still at a normal level...
Can you say "plot hole"?
[/ QUOTE ]
Dude.. we fly.Cut him a break.
Besides, we already have a plot hole in the galactically stupid Travel Power Suppression -- I mean come on, imagine a sport where every time you come in contact with another player or the ball, you have to walk for the next four seconds!
That alone is a "plot hole" big enough to fly the Atlas Park blimp through, yet it remains despite months of requests to rescind it.
This at least is an interesting idea and he took the time to write up all the color for it.
I say bring it on.

It probably has more to do with it not being even close to on topic, not even pretending to be. Nah, they were obviously afraid of your humor!

Shucks, it's not my humor they are afraid of, it's how many people agree with my reasoning and how well I express my arguments. And my humility! I have WAY more humility than ANYBODY else!Plus there's that whole "truth" thing that seems to get them all in a tizzy.
Actually, though, regarding the Lost Gem; it was a helpful post inspired by several folks' congratulations in this thread on the birth of Statesbaby. And in fact, it had everything to do with the "Two Things" first mentioned as they are indicative of overall chnages to the game. So at worst, it was a sidebar.
Alas, had you been allowed to read it, you would probably understand the situation better; you weren't, so it's not your fault you don't know what you're talking about. No matter; there'll be more and similar posts in the future. I'm not going anywhere.
At least, not until somebody else publishes a superhero MMO that actually lets us play like superheroes.
Then we'll see.

1. We're looking into the tweak to Endurance for mobs that's affected Endurance Drain abilities. Sorry about that!
2. We'll be putting in a check that prevents "one shotting"; if anything occurs within a fraction of second that brings a player from 100% Hit Points down to 0, we instead give the player 1% Hit Points.
That's all for now.

Great.
How about doing something really useful, like a tweak that gets rid of Travel Power Suppression?
Dasher (MY "archetype" is SUPER SPEEDSTER) -
[ QUOTE ]
Lets put it this way, so far every character I have that has faced an elite boss (even +3) has been able to solo it. No one can (or at least should be able to) solo an AV. Teaming isn't always an option. I have a mission with my level 41 scrapper that I dread finishing because it leads into an AV mission. I'm finding it hard most times to put togather a AV team.
On the CoV side my MM main is a elite boss destroyer, but can't handle an AV without at least two other team members.
[/ QUOTE ]
On the first point, I have to disagree re: not being able to solo an AV. I mean, are we superheroes, or not? Should we believe that any of the Freedom Phalanx could not solo an AV? Can we not one day expect to rise to their glorious levels? After all, at Level 50, they all start tellikng us "There is nothing more I can teach you; you are truly a hero!"
Apparently, as was the case in "Animal Farm", we're all equal, but some are more equal than others.
That said, it may be that the reason you are having trouble finding AV teams is that contrary to what Tyrant has dictated - excuse me, what Statesman has envisioned, most people like the idea of playing their comic book superheroes like comic book superheroes, i.e., usually solo, or with only one or two teammates. Or they at least prefer the illusion of having some options in how they can play as opposed to accepting the commandments of how they must play.
I have nothing against teaming, per se, but there is just a greater feeling of accomplishment in taking down a Big Bad all by yourself; it's just that simple.
But hey, if you are on Protector, I have a couple of Level 41's I would be happy to offer in assisting you with your AV. One is Night-OwI (some yahoo took the "owL" spelling so I had to use a capital "i" for the lower-case "L"), a claws/regen scrapper - and by the way, whoever designed that power combo has an "unnatural physical attraction" for Wolverine, because that build is so effective it's ludicrous - and the other is Colonel Cipher, an Assault Rifle/Devices blaster who is founder of a roleplaying SG whose members are required to lend aid and assistance to any super heroes within one level who request it.
See, I'm not anti-social. I just resent the hell out of people charging me to play a game they say I can play any way I like, then telling me I have to play it their way, and constantly gimping/nerfing powersets to enforce their dictatorial whims while pretending they are doing me a favor by trying to impose "balance", which their own Devs have admitted is impossible.
Dasher -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok this was a great idea but really what differance does it make AV or elite boss if said boss is +3 to you on the lowest setting while soloing? I still could not take one down last night on my DM/Inv scrapper even using a tray of inspirations.
You may as well left as an AV
[/ QUOTE ]
What level was your rep set on?
I only ask because I have a Super Speed scrapper with MA/SR; that combo has been gimped to the nines and I was able to solo Dominatrix on "Heroic". Took me a tray of Inspirations, too, but they were mostly Endurance. No Accuracy or Damage buffs.
