To me this has all just increased the grind factor and lowered the fun factor. X 20.
I'm frustrated in that I don't yet see an Incarnate Power that lets superspeedsters move like Synapse and Neuron, without Travel Power Suppression.
But, since being Incarnate means being the equal of the signature heroes/villains, then obviously that's got to come along, too.
    Soon.

  2. When will we be getting Incarnate Powers that simulate the Movement abilities of Incarnates like Synapse and Neuron?

Neither of these Incarnates are subject to Travel Power Supression, so it is reasonable to assume there must be an Incarnate ability which addresses that.

    Thanks.

  3. I'm with the OP (Drummz) on this one all the way.
The Inherent Fitness was a great idea, but to make up for it I've had to choose several powers of little use to me (or my teammates), none of which I can afford to run or slot.
I'd have much rather been given the choice of Inherent Fitness or 4 extra enhancement slots.
Toons with Stamina-enhancing powers such as Willpower and Regeneration have benefitted from the Inherent Fitness, but others, not so much.
  4. Weak.

Prestige itself does nothing of any real value since SG Bases no longer have the Vault ability for storing (now non-existent) Items of Power.

Our SG base is huge, has everything we need and is used only as a storage/waystation point. With no Vaulted Item of Power, there is no reason for us to mount or suffer raids, making it a moderately handy White Elephant.

I've been waiting that long just for the Devs to make a game about super-powered heroes that actually have super-powers!

It would just be nice to know if maintenance is going to be a lot longer than 30 minutes past schedule; I think it's very rude of the devs to not let us know something...& really, maintenance is only ONE day a week; how hard is it for one of them to keep an eye on it and let us know something? Really, now... think of things from other's perspectives instead of just your own.

I'm going to walk my dogs, play with them in the yard for a while, take a swim, unpack more boxes in my basement, check out the status for "DC Universe Online", clean up my office, and play "Left 4 Dead".

    Not necessarily in that order...

Wait until you try doing anything while using your Travel Power... you know, as in "playing your super-powered character as if they were actually super-powered".
  11. Ho, chief!
What'd you guys do, flip a switch to re-start the servers and then everybody went out for coffee?
Whatever you did in the maintenance is maintaining the servers really well, because nobody can get online!

C'mon, we got villainy/heroism to perform here!

    Why A Blaster?

Blasters were very popular early on. Mostly it was because they looked cooler effects-wise, but the "Small Vocal Minority of Idiots Who Must Whine" complained that Blasters were overpowered, that the game was becoming "City of Blasters" (again, lots of people played blasters because they LOOKED cool, not everyone is a Munchkin), but that was enough to get them critically nerfed into second-class character status.
It was after this initial crippling that I created my first Blaster (I always liked Scrappers until they hobbled them, too.)
Since then they have added two innate abilities of dubious value to Blasters to try and drag them up out of the gutter; Defiance (a joke) and the ability to use the lowest-level powewrs even when Stunned or Slept or Held or Otherwise Occupied (which just looks ridiculous). Neither has worked very well.
PvP came along and the "Small Vocal Minority of Idiots Who Must Whine" complained even more loudly about how Blasters were "overpowered". Translation: "I ran into a player who played his Blaster more efectively than I played my Corruptor so the AT must be overpowered because I am flawless; my mom says so!" That pretty much doomed Blasters from being redeemed.
Now with "Going Rogue", it's even worse. A perfect example is a "Green Arrow" character. If he's a Blaster, he can get Archery but he CANNOT get "Trick Arrows". If he's a Defender, he can get both, but his damage is poor. But as a Corruptor he can get both and have the "Scourge" innate ability.
Thus, there is a better potential return if one starts a Praetorian Corruptor and goes Hero at Level 20 than to ever start a Blaster at all.
For other examples of the negative effects of the "Small Vocal Minority of Idiots Who Must Whine", see the "Hunter" vs. "Warden" classes in the now-shambling-toward-irrelevance "Lord of the Rings Online".

    Same here.
Server Status page says servers are up, but I keep getting the failed to login message.
Still unable to access as of 10:40 AM EST, 1 hr. 40 min. past declared re-boot time of 9:00 AM EST.
I know maintenance can go over sometimes, but the servers aren't usually marked as "up" until they actually are.

"Give up pouncing on anything Dasher writes just because you disagree with him and you can't find anything better to do; trust me, you can. I'm not going away now."

Not to worry. When it's made right -- i.e., when Travel Power Suppression is once again gone from the game -- I will, indeed, give it up.

Just seems to be a bit of a pain. Any opinions?
You're absolutely right, having to "earn" a cape all over again is a silly waste of time.

In fact, it's the first thing I've seen that is even sillier than having to earn it in the first place, especially since we have to earn a cape to get an aura, even if we don't want the cape at all.
  16. The option to scale all TFs up to Level 50 is positively brilliant.
A great idea which would add tremendously to the enjoyment of the game.
Be prepared to be flamed into charcoal by all the fanboys howling about why it shouldn't or can't be done; translation: They don't think anyone else should be able to enjoy the game any way but their way.
    In any case, GREAT idea!
  17. Longest Wait Time: I've given up after 3+ hours of in-game waiting. Our TF group went to dinner, came back, hunted outside the mission, called it a night. This used to happen all the time up until three years ago. Now it's rare, but still occurs.

Shortest Wait Time: Less than three minutes.

Credit Where It's Due: The Short Wait Times - which usually average less than ten minutes - are BY FAR the norm.

Best Reason to Give GMs a Raise: It's very often the same two GMs who answer requests, at least on our servers (Protector/Champion).

Free Advice: Give GMs more power so they can fix in-game Dev screw-ups.

  18. Oy! Well, that figures, in a way... I guess.
Oh, well. Certainly not worth the effort for a 7-day temp power. Too bad the Devs reneged -- again -- on a promise/vision and couldn't find the minerals to keep the IoPs part of the Trial.
I am just tired of the Devs always taking the easy way out on things like this: If something becomes inconvenient for them to deal with, they can't be bothered to fix it (Cathedral of Pain Trial) or explain why it works the way it does (Travel Powers allowing what whiners call "jousting" which was actually just some people learning to play the game well; and yes, sometimes better than others).
They just delete it and throw a few shiny-pretties at the masses to shut them up.
    Oh, well.
  19. Cool, Snow Globe, thanks! (By the way: Great costume/avatar; Go Canada!)

As for the Item of Power Vault for the SG base: It no longer serves any purpose, correct? So, may as well be rid of it and the Dimensional Anchors... if I remember correctly, don't draw a minimal amount of Power/Control...?
  20. So, this is back in, sort of?
But, it no longer awards an Item of Power?
Then, we should rip out the Vaults in our SG bases?

My bad... although of course I admit I was hoping it might be "given up".

In any case, testing the "/getglobalname" against online and offline names, it worked fine, but for "/getglobalname Dasher", it returned nothing.

So, alas, the first "Dasher" is apparently long gone inactive. The name isn't blocked, because it's available on other servers.

I know the "other" Dasher exists (or existed) because I actually saw the toon once, back around Issue 2; a short, broad, Tanker-looking chap in white pants and a tank-top t-shirt with sunglasses and an Elvis hairdo, sort of a "Back-Alley Brawler" motif.

Oh, well. Maybe one day they will let us transfer SG Bases between servers and I can fix the name then. :-)

It's become a running gag by this point.
...I never said that I thought "it'll be given up"...?

I'm just wondering if there's a way to find people to discuss the matter. Memphis Bill had a great suggestion, which I will try and if the owner says "no", oh, well.

I'm not accusing the guy of being a "dog in a manger", I'm just wondering if he's even still interested in CoH at all. If not, it can't hurt to ask, right?

    1. Add it to your friends list. Watch for a bit.
    2. /getglobalname character, I *believe,* will get the global - if it doesn't have one, wow, that's been inactive for a long, long time.

Either way, send an email to the result (maybe the person has the character but decided to play on another server) and ask if they'd be willing to free up the character name for you.
Thanks, Memphis_Bill; I tried the e-mail with no response, but the "friends" list and global name search is a GREAT idea; I'm very much obliged to you!
