Quote:Unwanted unneeded restriction for no reason other than he "Posi" wants it to be this way. Once again the devs relying on the brilliance of "their" view of how things should be vs the practical reality of the players dealing with the issue directly....Brilliant.Absolutely. I see where Posi's coming from, I really do, but you can't force anyone to make friends. In a lot of cases, his approach just makes people bitter toward the other players they were "required" to involve, and on top of that, it doesn't prevent the behavior anyway.
The system didn't collapse when they finally allowed us to transfer inf to ourselves without calling in another person; it wouldn't collapse if they let us invite ourselves to SGs, either. -

Quote:If your blue bar is going empty on your attack chain, hasten is the least of your worries mate. That's not true, on my NB/SR Stalker depending on what content it is that I'm doing(certain team situations) I've been in situations where going through my attack chain of Gamblers,Flashing,Soaring,Golden non stop has bottomed out my end. Hasten wouldn't add anything to my character since the 90%+ recharge I already have can cause me to bottom out my end.

This is silly. Where is your support data to support whatever nerf it is you are calling for now?
Please nerf? No. Please present the data support the need for a nerf. I don't think the devs need to pay ANY attention to nerf calls from people that have no support beyond a hurt butt. -
I might add that you cannot perform at the top levels with certain sets without hasten. You certainly can build a toon that is good enough for the vast majority of the game, but just not at the top levels of performance possible.
I could not have perma inner light, lightform or reform essence without it. The difference between walking around with 1335 hp vs 2012 hps perma is significant. -
Devs need to check with players a bit more often about what our expectations are and not rely on what they "think" they might be because in doing so they are ALWAYS going to be wrong at some level.

I think the most important part for everyone to realize is that BOTH work.
I have a plant/rad troller that regularly handles the top north door and the top south door at the same time. When I say handle I mean no runner even commandos escape.
Regardless, doors or chokes the league needs to work together to be a success.
One last thing I would mention is once my toons made +3 pretty much any of them(melee included) can hold a door no problem due to the AOE goodness that is the Polar Lights. -
Quote:My first thought when reading the title of the thread. I know it is still not an AT for everyone, but after the recent changes it certainly is better and more blapper like than it has ever been for the 5 years I have played the AT.While this doesn't address the reason (Blaster Secondary Sets) you want to see a Blapper AT, I wanted to mention that my Human-only PB plays VERY much like Blapper, and is lots of fun, in case you were interested in making it happen for yourself from a playstyle perspective.

TBH, any scrapper can do those trials, but some are more fun than others because of the gimmicks that constantly force you to move out of melee. In those cases I have found that playing my scrappers that have a couple of ranged attacks like KM or Claws/Spines to be a bit more fun for "me".
Soloing which is a "completely" different thing than playing in a big league, I have had the most fun with MA/WP, Kat/WP, DM/SR, KM/EA, Fire/Fire, Claws/SR and Spines/DA. -
Any build can go without hasten no doubt. However, none would be operating in a period of highest productivity or excellence without it.
-
I was thinking WP or SR. I might end up doing both if I enjoy the set a lot.

Quote:I guess you missed the post where I stated as such.err... sort of. There is a participation metric but if the OP were not 'participating' enough, he would be getting 10 threads, not commons. Since he's getting commons, you're right - it's RANDOM and the OP has had bad luck.
This part is flat-out WRONG. If you sit by the door, you'll get the 10 threads 'reward' instead of a salvage roll. -
Quote:Excellent that someone understands the actual issue here. The problem is not that the arcs are less rewarding than TFs, SSAs, tips, or whatever. That's to be expected. These story arcs are less rewarding than other story arcs in the same range which are otherwise directly comparable. If they want premium accounts to pay for First Ward access, it should at least not give them less rewards than they would get in Talos Island.

Quote:I suggested they listen to Snow Globe in particular because his posts encompass the views of many of the players that he has led trough these trials and is not just his personal opinion.Saying that TPN could benefit from some of the suggestions listed by a given poster is not the same as saying that I agree with said poster's assessment of the trial in its entirety or the manner in which they expressed it. With that said, I disagree that the devs should pay special attention to their opinion (and others like it) and implement changes accordingly, which is what your posts seemed to suggest they should be doing. I would hope that they'd take a variety of opinions into consideration before adjusting a trial.
The second part of my post was addressed to the OP, as I indicated, and was not a reference to the number of times you have personally run all of the trials.
In addition, if you look at what he is saying he is in fact right about these things and like it or not the devs "DO" need to listen to what he is saying. Failure to do so will in fact lead us further down the road we already know the majority of players don't want to go down. -

As long as the combo system was some kind of optioned based deal for those that want it cool.
I hate with the burning passion of ten million suns DB, StJ and TW because of the special systems each works under, but have nothing against anyone that wants that for MA as long as I can have my good ole MA we have now. -
Quote:Happens in A LOT of games I have played on the PC since 1989. I do agree however, with your Goo idea. Something like that could actually work well. Maybe I was not totally clear on the concept, my bad.You are tired of it?
Care to tell me the last time this happened to you in game?
I was more thinking of a "gimmick" for something, ie huge *static* pool of "cosmic goo" that gives an "incarnate debuff" till its effects are CM'd or somesuch other.
So it wouldnt be permanent, it would even be avoidable (dont go in the goo, you wont like it)... and as long as the AV fight was not too vicious with knockbacks, I don't actually see what the problem would be.
*shrugs*
But hey, with people complaining about -res -def debuffs being used against them and there being a way to solve that (kill the telepaths), then i guess players *dont* like the mobs playing "fair", as in "doing what players can do".
The most *evil and vicious* fight i can imagine would be a 12/18 villain AV fight, where the AV's are actual clones of players with the HP/enhancement slotting/accolades of the player they are cloning.
It would be fun as hell for me to see in the background, as it would mean that you would have to be *very very* careful on who you take.
And pray that you dont have a feck load of debuffers on your side, just in case the mobs decide to nuke your support. -
I played EVE Online for a few years while taking a break from COX. Having a degree in Economics and a financial background that is the only MMO gaming market that comes anywhere near RL and I love it.
Wentworth's is nice for a game like this, but certainly could be improved upon. -
Quote:I think we just need to give it more time to see if more people can get more familiar with the new trials.
I can certainly agree with this statement. The TPN or MOM trials are not something I find enjoyable at all because the gimmicks get in the way of my fun, but they can be completed successfully for sure. -
Quote:Well you bring up an interesting point that those writing story arcs for others to play must deal with for sure.only problem with making new stuff to fight, if players view them as too tough or gimmicky, they will be avoided.
Notice how Freakshow went from everyone's favorite punching bags to one of those well...not so fun end draining groups. All that was done was adding the Super Stunner with its auto hit big end drain rez. Now, its possible to game that since SS xp via rez is the same and fewer people nearby means less health. So the trick is to have one person stand in range.
FW added anti-Stalker apparitions. Not only are the intitial forms worth 0 XP, it completely removes the ability for the stalker to get that first surprise strike in. Moral, I'll never run a stalker in FW.
What I am talking about is making an enemy group that you or your friends design and trade with you. You can then just pop them into a standard mission map like the BM map, set your levels and go to town having fun smashing up a different enemy group.
These options are only limited by the powersets provided and the imagination of you and your friends'. I have even on occasion come across other players arcs where upon me contacting them we traded some customs.
As a long time mission builder for games in the past couple of decades and a lover of cartoon heroes since the sixties, I have no shortage of ideas. -
Quote:You mean like getting the 10 thread reward when you dc and come back late, yes I have had that happen. You are correct Sir.Actually, if you're referring to Incarnate Trial reward tables, this isn't correct. There are TWO tables -- one with a random Common/Uncommon/Rare/VR (not counting the Trials where this is tweaked upward) and another for people who don't participate to the minimum threshold as determined by the game.
But you are correct in saying that, if you do participate enough to be presented with the "regular" reward table, whether you get a common, uncommon, rare or VR drop is completely random as far as we can tell (and all evidence so far seems to back that up solidly). -
I don't see the justification for not rewarding the other players and only the mission holder. That kind of stuff has repercussions that someone on the dev team never gives it the consideration it deserves. Not to mention the ramped up enemies you encounter.
I ran it once on one of my scrappers and returned only to help some friends get through it. It is a pity to spend that much dev time on something only to have it almost ignored due to bad decisions that are out of line with the rest of the game. Silliness. -
Yes, increasing you total endurance will increase your rate of recovery.

Quote:The thing is when the BAF came out it was harder not just because it was new but its because you had mainly 50's in the league. A 24 man league with all 50's and no lore pets is really a different animal than what teams on the average are facing now with TONS of people running around +2-3 and T3-4 lore pets, TOTALLY different animal.I mean I remember hearing ******** threads about how hard "BAF" was... T_T
My point was made over the holiday when TONS of 50's and no lore pet groups were failing the BAF right and left.
