Why can't they make both function exactly the same. I don't understand this at bit.

Quote:There you go again, nobody said a damm thing about the "actual process" except you to try to be right, where you over generalized. The only difference is the speed with which things happen. Obviously this other game you're talking about has more resources available to make things happen quicker.
But I would still argue your attempt to call the actual process these two companies use as being fundamentally different is naive at best. There are not -that- many different ways to run the proverbial railroad in this case.
The fact of the matter remains other companies are able to put out fixes as they go instead of waiting like Paragon does, which was the "entire" point made from the start by me. You can say the others have more resources all you want because it was not about resources it was about the actual practice and they leave Paragon behind in that measure. -

And that would be different from City of Dual Blades, City of Kinetic Nascar Melee and City of Anime Street Justice in what way?

Soon=Whenever the heck we decide to give them to you. Now shut up and get off my lawn.

Quote:I don't think we are talking about the same game. The game I am talking about is developed in Iceland. The other MMO that I've played that does that also had a significantly larger staff, playerbase and quarterly income. That's not to say it never happens with games that have smaller studios, but just that I've never seen it happen with one.
It's been a while but the 'other' MMO I played that did multiple hot fixes on the day of an update release also brought the servers down for each and every one of those hot fixes. I found it to be moderately annoying truth be told. -
Quote:I never said anything about plug and play fixes nor fixes not affecting preexisting code. There may be MMOs out there with very efficient beta and regression testing operations. But there really is no such thing as "plug-n-play" bug fixing without the possibility of affecting other preexisting code.
If you looked into what's actually going on here you'd see that this game doesn't really operate all that much differently than any other MMO out there as far as these things are concerned.
Actually it does operate differently. It operates opposite of the company I just described in the post you quoted. Like I said they do rapid in-between issue fixes regularly and have for years which is in fact VERY different from what goes on here period no room for debating this fact.
If you want the name of the game PM me because arguing this point is silly in reference to this difference. -
I am under no illusions about these types of things as some others here seem. These kinds of things are here to stay and for whatever price they decide. Guess what, despite the complaints here I am more than sure that they will sell a metric ton of these as they have the other OP items on the market.
One thing I learned while playing a no holds barred space game is people say one thing and do something completely opposite of what they say when it comes to buying these micro/marco transaction items....Surprise! LOL!
Paragon is apparently not listening to what people say here and are rather listening to the cha ching a ling of their cash register lighting up whenever they put these items on the market.
WINNING! -
Quote:I would measure that people here play a variety of MMO games. Saying that I can think of at least one MMO off the top of my head that does exactly this in terms of software rollouts and have for years. They will roll a quarterly issue out like I22 and within a short time sometimes the same day you will see a series of updates 22.01-22.09 etc...if needed updating along the way.The disconnect is you simply can NOT go.. oh... it's fixed on Beta so just push that.. software rollouts NEVER work like that for good reason.
Paragon can and will do WTF they want, but to say their way is the only way to do it is far from accurate and they could learn a lesson or three from someone doing it MUCH better IMHO. -
The devs have said the fixes are coming soon. In other words, shut up and take it until we decide you have had enough, now get off my lawn!

Quote:Interesting observations. I personally don't promote the practice of releasing broken things that may or may not be fixed later/soon by buying them hopes in hand. Having said that I have seen the general gaming public reduced down to this level of acceptance...yes.Unfortunately, yes. In our defense this can happen in a number of ways.
They could wait to release it when it is fixed (the best scenario) so we are removed from the equation.
They can release it broken (like any number of other game things). I realise there is a difference between things on the Paragon Market to buy vs things included in our subscription but for some people they may be subscribing for that item so they are effectively giving PS money for broken things also.
Since releasing broken stuff is sadly normal for the online gaming industry, we purchasers are left with the choice to buy it broken or not buy it.
In our defense since we expect that they will eventually fix it, buying it broken on sale makes more sense than waiting to buy it fixed and not on sale unless we can reasonably expect that the message sent of not buying broken stuff will put a stop to the industry norm of selling broken stuff.
I don't see much hope that the industry will change and they have conditioned most of us to buy broken stuff and wait for them to fix it.
And once they sell it to us we do have a stronger case to demand that they fix it. (he says with only a small amount of hope)
Then again I am pretty old school and back in the day many things were different from how the younger generations have been conditioned to accept as ok/normal. Oh well I'll get over it LOL! -
Yay! You only have till March 31st to spend your 800PP.
Hurry hurry get your own Pot O Gold before time runs out! -
Quote:From the outside looking in it may seem that way for sure. However, many people have been on BETA for quite a bit of time and tested things quite a bit. Staff has been on BETA since I21 and appeared to be a ready state for some time now. They were bumping people on staff to 50 WEEKS ago to test the I22 DA content and frankly that alone made many of us testing feel that the set was ready for release.Seeing as the last pay set was melee, I didn't expect staff till after the End of March.
I mean its basic logic.
BM is not ready as it needs some SERIOUS work, yet it will not get that work and will be released broken for pay to meet some crazy schedule. This is just bloody brilliant. -
Quote:Buy it on sale and wait till they fix it...hmm no thank you. Having said that I am more than sure more people will agree with you than me. Chalk up another win for the marketing/psychological warfare department. Yay?Searching...

However if it is released on sale it could be argued to buy it on sale and wait till they fix it to use it (pretend you have pre-ordered).
I wouldn't mind them letting us pre-order powersets like those so they know how desired (or not) these are. -
They are not releasing staff at this time but will soon™.
If BM is going to be released next week then they had better hurry up and make some serious fixes and get them up on test. I mean they would not release a set without the changes needed would they, stares at Dark control umbral beast in MM Bodyguard mode, and the powers soul absorption and fade.
Well Dark was free so releasing it unfinished while not ideal is forgivable to help meet the I22 release date right? I wonder what excuses the fanbois will use to justify BM being released unfinished and for pay.
Have at it fanbois. -
Quote:Those things are much much less than is needed to fix the broken mess that is BM just ask Reppu about that lol. They can and will do what they want.Unfortunately, Staff isn't "essentially done." Mercurial Strike still does not animate in the character creator, and my guess is they are taking another look at the sound effects, considering the ones they have now don't really match either. As much as I'm looking forward to Staff Fighting, I would rather wait another 3-4 weeks and have them perfect it.
I pretty much knew Beast Mastery was coming before Staff Fighting when we got the latest Intrepid Informer article.
And I have to agree with what JayboH said earlier: it makes the most business sense to hold off until after 2XP weekend. -
-
The servers have revolted due to them hearing Staff fighting was not going live Tuesday.

I22 was already released. Any release at this point is post I22.
